It is clear that GW1 players will vote for Abaddon, while GW2 players can’t relate and will vote for the fall of RNG boxes (what i too would do), so Kiel.
And since it is GW2, it’s completely unfair to have a race between the 2 group of players.
GW2 players will vote for a kittenty reactor explosion over a God’s fall..
I was a GW1 player through each campaign and EOTN and loved every moment of it. I will be voting for Kiel.

I agree that Evon is the logical choice given the points you have said.
However, one thing politics have told me is that you never get what was promised, and even if you do, there are often a 100 other hidden and unwanted changes that pop up after the election. Evon seems like one heck of a shady character and I don’t trust him.
#TeamKiel
Which is exactly why you should trust him. What politician has ever been trustworthy? They’re all liars who will sell you out at the first chance. With Evon, he doesn’t hide this. Which makes him the more honest of the two candidates. You know exactly where you stand with Evon (which should be face-to-face so it won’t be so easy to be stabbed in the back).
Evon’s motivation is profit. Profit comes from keeping markets open with goods, services, and coins freely exchanging hands. As long as his pockets remain lined with gold, he doesn’t really care what anyone else does.
Kiel, on the other hand, puts on a nice facade. However, she’s got serious control issues. Ever listen to some of her dialogue? Give her power and watch the Lionguard transformed into the White Mantle Version 2.0. She would institute more restrictions; all in the name of greater security, of course.
The choice is clear. Vote for the candidate you can trust to be untrustworthy. Vote Evon Gnashblade!
Do you watch Community? This gave me a deja vu to the episode where the group was voting in a new member and Jeff was trying to convince everyone Chang was a good idea (because you see what you get). If you don’t watch Community, /disregard.
I 100% disagree with OP.
ArenaNet is giving a thank you to those who support them. This isn’t a purchased item, so it’s not about advertising and customer trust.
It’s about customer appreciation.
I did not receive a kite, and I fully support ArenaNets decision to do this.
If we’re talking about reality here, there are seldom visual cues to let one know how dangerous one particular thing is to another.
In reality, you would not have one bandit that can take 1000x as many hits as any other bandit that he works with.
I agree that Evon is the logical choice given the points you have said.

I agree that I’d like more visual cues regarding champion/veteran/normal status. I definitely find I look at the name and portrait more than the being itself.
Perhaps all Champions should have a glowing gold aura to them and Veterans a silver aura?
I agree, enough backpieces (and gloves and shoulder pieces and helms). I want new boots, pants and coats!
Another alternative is to add in the wardrobe suggestion, where one could just turn on and off different skins at will.
Southsun Survival sounds like the hunger games
Jumping Puzzle is it’s own noun and is not necessarily the sum of the two words jump and puzzle. However, Jumping Puzzle is named that way, because it is a puzzle where you jump, but that does not mean every puzzle where you jump is a Jumping Puzzle. I hope that makes sense.
For the definition of a Jumping Puzzle – from GW2 Wiki -
Jumping puzzles are open world mini-dungeons with platforming elements that require the player to find the correct route to the end of the puzzle. The reward for solving the puzzle resets daily and is typically a Grand, Magnificent or Splendid Chest. Completing a jumping puzzle will also reward the player with a Jumping Puzzles achievement.
This is clearly not a mini dungeon, there is no chest at the end, and the player is not rewarded with a Jumping Puzzles achievement. So I agree with OP that this is not a Jumping Puzzle.
Incorrect grammar grinds my gears too, but harassing and correcting others who aren’t asking for it is, in my opinion, worse. It’s a game, and people are here to have fun.
When I see stuff like this in chat it drives me up the wall:
Player 1: Anyone want to run Citadle of Flame later?
Player 2: Citadel*
Player 1: Oh sorry lol
Player 3: Sure, I’ll come along. So long as you don’t mind a Condition Warrior xD;
Player 1: Lol, it’s cool, I don’t mind. Anyone else wanna come along? LF2M , that efigy is so annoying!
Player 2: Effigy* And I guess so, I’m not doing anything. No one wants to be corrected, especially not while relaxing and playing a game. No one even gains anything from the correction. It’s just annoying. Player 1 isn’t going to be eternally grateful because he now knows how to spell ‘effigy.’ Hell, it was probably just a typo from typing too quickly. It just makes Player 2 sound annoying and snooty.
Now the idiots who type in a way that isn’t coherent, that’s something else entirely. An example being, “lol yu gusy wnna run codf later im doin path1 probly a few tiems.” I would have to read that probably a few times just to get the general idea of what the person even wants, and someone needs to say something. He’s not going to get a party if no one knows that he’s looking for one, lol. Or where he wants to go.
TL;DR – I think people tend to be too harsh on typos. It’s not a big deal. If you can understand what’s being said easily, leave it be.
InB4 – "The biggest crime committed in that scenario is “Condition Warrior.”
That is quite possibly true in this example; however, I like it will people call out my mistakes. I am forever learning and know that I am not perfect, and corrections help me learn.
That said, those seem like obvious typos and not spelling mistakes.
i before e, except after c
Except when sounding as “A” in neighbor or weigh… or dozens of other exceptions to the ‘rule’ that in fact, outnumber the ones that actually follow it, making this a completely useless mnemonic.
It’s a reasonably good rule of thumb to get started.
The OP is right though. Way too many people in this game spell it “Theif” and it drives me nuts.
Having “their” and “thief” in the same sentence drives me even crazier.
Whoever come up with these spelling rules ought to retire…seriously.
Heh ya, sometimes it can be weird. Though, with that example you can actually hear the differences. Their with an eh sound and Thief with an ee sound. What I hate is when the sounds are the same but the spelling is different or vice versa. An example is shoe and toe, one is an ew sound and one is an oh sound. Annnyway, English sucks.
I could login to Guild Wars and in start a new character, play for about 30 hours and be max level with max gear having earned the gold for it in that time, and just play the game after that for it’s stories and challenges without ever having a thought cross my mind about am I playing with handicapped stats.
That’s no where near a possibility in Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars felt much more about enjoying well thought out quality content and stories. Guild Wars 2 distracts from that way too much with it’s grind. You could login to Guild Wars 2 and start a new character, play for about 30 hours, and be max level with nearly max gear (green) around which the entire game was balanced.
Then if you like you could play for a few more hours and get exotics.
Hear, Hear. Best response yet, except, to use several instead of few.
Actually, you can have all exotics within minutes of hitting 80. If you sell all materials, loot bags and drops that you get while levelling you will have more than enough gold to purchase all exotic gear on the TP.
However, for me, it took more like 40-50 hours to hit 80 on my more recent characters. (This is without crafting and only doing events, story and hearts)
And if you save your daily karma jugs and don’t use them till you’re 80, you could probably buy exotic karma armor from the temples in Orr without spending any gold at all.
Hmm I highly doubt this, Karma jug is what, 4k karma? You need 42k karma to buy some gear. I got around 100,000 k karma on one of my recent 80’s, but some of that is from CoF runs and post 80 time. Let’s assume that 75,000 karma is reasonable for a new 80.
I am going to assume I play more than most, so let’s say 2 hours per day levelling, at 40 hours = 20 days. 20 days * 4k karma = 80k karma + 75k karma = 155k karma. That is enough to get you 3 pieces of gear, not all 6. If you played like I did, you would have levelled to 80 in less than a week, so you would have had 20k + 75k karma = 95k karma or enough for 2 pieces of gear.
That is also excluding the fact that the stats on the gear is not ideal. It is better to purchase off the TP, because you can pick and choose your desired stats.
I would recommend you use that ~100-150k karma to purchase jewelry boxes from karma vendors and make gold. It will be enough gold to cover at least one of your items (and possibly more depending on luck).
I guess you never got a karma booster, or used any karma buffs, because I’m getting over 7000 karma from jugs. There’s foods that boost karma, buffs that boost karma, all sorts of stuff.
Depending on how long you take to level, you can end up with a whole lot of karma jugs…particularly because in the past, monthlies were relatlively easy to get which give you ten jugs or 75,000 karma just from doing one monthly.
Now, if you’re doing events, and zone completions, which a lot of people do, by the time they’re a month into the game, it’s quite easy to say have 40 jugs of karma. That’s the daily every day and the monthly plus all the other stuff you do.
And let’s say you can’t get an ENTIRE suit of armor. You can get half your armor, or two thirds.
The point is it’s another option without spending any gold.
Of course I have used Karma boosters, that isn’t to say you will automatically have one leveling up and hitting 80 – maybe you will and maybe you won’t.
If you have more karma from the booster that means you can even get more gold from the jewelery boxes.
Naturally, this really depends on how fast you level. For myself, as I said, it took me around a week and ~40 hours. I had a few jugs from that, but definitely not anywhere near 40.
You also didn’t address the point that the stats on the karma gear are really bad. You’re much better off spending 30 g and getting zerker gear or something. It doesn’t matter that you have to spend gold, because it is so easy to come by. You can have ~40 gold pretty easily from leveling as long as you sell mats and things along the way. You can have another 10-20 gold from jewelery boxes using our combined methods (your karma boosters and apparently 40 jugs).
On another note, you won’t be able to get all of your exotic rings/amulets and weapons via Karma gear
Hey there, I am still experiencing this issue. It’s hard to capture screenshots because things flicker in and out so quickly, but I’ve managed to capture a couple.
The screenshots make it seem pretty insignificant, because they are so small. However, I’ve had it when there are like 10-20 on my screen all flashing on and off all over the place and it is quite frustrating.
All you guys need to do is come back when you are a few levels higher. The storyline missions get easy if you out level them a bit.
This is only true for some professions. Although this was soloable on my Ranger (at level 80) and Guardian (on-level at 68), my Thief is unable to complete this Level 68 “Sink the Boneship” PS segment at level 80 equipped with all Level 80 Rares with 3-4 Exotics.
One non-boss Risen Shark 2-shots my Thief, and since it’s underwater, I have the double-whammy handicaps of ridiculously underpowered offensive capabilities (almost totally ineffective speargun… the sharks barely notice that I’m shooting them) PLUS none of the Thief’s ‘trademark’ defensive skills (stealth, Thieves Guild, Caltrops, Dual-Dagger melee acrobatics, etc.) to mitigate the absurd difficulty level.
Also, to those who say “get a friend” I would respectfully point out that some of us, sometimes, enjoy soloing and don’t want to be FORCED to group with anyone for these story missions. I tend to agree with previous posters who say that the Personal Story missions should be soloable by all profs on-level, so even if it WAS possible for Thieves and other profs to solo this level 68 quest at level 80, we shouldn’t have to wait until we out-level the quest by 12 levels to complete it, especially when we suddenly discover that some of them STILL are not soloable even at level 80.

remove the stupid thing that lowers your level if you go into a lower level area i hate being level 70 and walking to lower level places and still feeling under powered and for dungeons to just lower exp or something dame -.-
A good player will never feel underpowered in a lower level zone. The problem isn’t with the sidekick system, it’s with you. The problem might be your skill level or it might be your mentality, but it is on your end.
lol i was a bit over the top when i said that but nope im smarter then you. i created my first pc game when i was in 7th grade i skipped 6 and 11th grade so i don’t think im stupid
Let’s stay away from the who’s smarter than who debate, despite the irony of your post.
The problem is more than likely on your end, and it is more than likely due to your gear. If you feel underpowered in a low level area, it is because your gear is not max for your current level. You said you are 70, check and see if each and every piece of gear you are wearing is 70. This includes weapons, armor and accessories. If anything is below 70, that is your problem. That said, you shouldn’t concern yourself too much over this until you are 80.
If you infuse a ring, I believe it makes it account bound
Infusion through adding 1 shard, 3 globs, 5 essences from fractals in MF with ring.
It’s a funny feeling running around in this world, especially while levelling. The intent is that we are heroes going around helping people.
However, I find that I run around waiting for problems. If everything is peaceful, I don’t stand there and think, wow what a beautiful place. It’s so great that all these people are living in harmony. Instead I run by shouting “Where are the events?” I want those bandits to come and burn this farm down so I can kill them!
Point being, I actively want bad things to happen so I have something to do, and that doesn’t seem very hero-like.

Try correcting people that keep saying Jormag is up, while it’s supossed to be claw….
Double ‘P’, single ‘S’.
:PI grow even more disappointed each day from how frequently I see character names spelled incorrectly. I would think that someone would not mind the few seconds it would take to verify the correct spelling of a word before permanently using it in the naming of a character. Instead, there are far too many who cannot be bothered with this slight effort and they end up with an incorrectly spelled word permanently in their character’s name. Well, perhaps not permanent any longer due to the release of the Name Change Contract on March 26th, if they can be bothered to purchase it and use it and then manage to spell it correctly the second time.
My sisters friend (when they were younger) made an email intended to be something like SweetAngel@whatever.com. Instead, she made it SweetAngle@whatever.com. It gave us a few good laughs

Easily my favourite event chain and NPC!
Didn’t get the reference to Pirates of Penzance though
Remove map completion from WvWvW.
I entered WvWvW a little while ago with some guildee’s and actually had a bit of fun. Since then I have returned to try map completion. The frustration I have endured trying to do this has ensured that i will never return to WvW once map completion is done.
EDIT: I wanted to add that I also think if they added saveable templates of traits, utilities and gear then it would make WvW more appealing. My current build is not PvP centric, and I don’t want to take the time to change everything everytime I pop in and out of WvW.

Knowing what I know now, human or norn necro. Priory.
as he said, knowing what I know now – Female Human Mesmer Priory..
However, I made an Asuran Ele, then a Human Thief (both Whispers), then a Human Ele (Vigil) before arriving at Human Mesmer in Priory. So if I had one char, I would have levelled quite a few to 80 and deleted them
Yeah. I was playing every day and doing some stuff in other games periodically. Now I’m pretty much just playing GW2. Since we’re just discussing the LS as opposed to the entire patch content (which is actually pretty exciting but the one-at-a-time-though-biweekly rate actually decreases the impact IMO).
I’m logging in for the mechanics and have paid progressively less attention to the story part of it. I’ve been pretty impatient with people on other forums (Massively.com comment sections in particular) because of their complaint with the temporary nature of the LS:
I refuse to log in because this content is temporary and I don’t want to play something that I can’t play again later.
Which is just a pig-headed reason but might show more of a flaw in communicating thoughts than reason behind it. The thing about the temporary nature (and this does tie into the rate or ‘cadence’ as they call it…making me cringe) is that you can’t really tell a story with any depth for it to be so ‘hot-joinable’. Drop into any episode of Lost (See footnote) in season 3 without having seen the show before and tell me what’s going on.
My dislike of their use of the term cadence to descibe the pace is it’s musical definition describing an ending. This for instance is a cadence.
- I use Lost not as an example of depth but of serial story-telling. This footnote could also be used as a tl;dr.
BTW, Cadence is often used in storytelling to talk about the rhythm or flow of the story.
It is definitely used in music, but it also is used in poetry and it also just means the revolutions of a crankset per minute.
I remember when I played Mario Kart it was common practice to pull over and let Wario and Bowser win once in awhile for the achievement points.
if your problem is purely the “death” than you should know that you can use the waypoint during the fall… and you have more than enough time to use it :p
Just a note, I did this and had to pay for the WP twice. Because it glitched out and killed me anyway.
On another note, this thread reminded me of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAYL5H46QnQ
ANet: One day I was walking down the street and this player walks up to me and says, “Hey, please give us mounts”. “We don’t need your mounts!” and threw it on the ground!!! I threw the rest of the player too. Welcome to the real world J*** A**!
El curioso, did you say anything in chat as well? Your chat doesn’t really show the history very well.
I don’t think that people should expect others to let them win, I am with you there. However, I don’t see a problem with people asking and/or letting others win.
The “Finish” move is a channeled skill used through interaction (F) on a downed enemy.
Thanks for the reply, but that is what I did. I let it complete several times.
To my knowledge, that is incorrect. You can buy ascended jewellery with laurels, but those won’t give you agony resistance and so they’re useless in higher fractals.
Infusions that give +agony resistance can only be obtained by using fractal tokens.
That is incorrect also. Infusions can be made in Mystic Forge.
In order to infuse in the MF you need Vials/globe from Fractals, so the point is still there.
No, you don’t. You need 20 mystic coins, 5 skills points, and matertials.
How I have done it in the past, and how it is listed on the wiki here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infused_equipment
Upgrade a regular ascended ring in the Mystic Forge using 1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence, 3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence, and 5 Vials of Condensed Mists Essence.
I guess you are talking more about these: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Versatile_Healing_Infusion? (and other similar types)
In which case you are correct, I forgot about those.
Hey there, I have one final hint to complete. “Finish Opponents”
However, I just went to WvWvW and killed/finished several opponents and never got this hint. I believe this is a bug, as for at least 1 of the opponents I did 100% of the damage.
Hmm I have somewhat re-evaluated my stance.
I would consider entering WvW if the following changes were made:
Add crowding, After 10 people are in a short radius, attacks begin to miss – more and more as the number grows. This is to prevent zerging.
In-game leaderboards of showing current status. i.e. when I look at the WvW panel, there should be a list of people there with # of kills – so I can see how I am performing in comparison. Preferably, everyones number will be set to 0 for me when I enter, so the numbers are comparable.
Remove arrow carts and the other things you make (I forget the names). Make taking a keep more about PvP and using your professions skills. Keep a gate there, but make it killable with regular attacks.
Add in Artifacts (or whatever you want to call them) which are temporary weapons that provide special and powerful skills. Keep these in secret areas (such as at the end of JPs)
Remove or reduce repair costs.
Either remove mobs or make them useful. Don’t have a bunch of easy to kill packs of wolves. Remove them and add in 1 champion golem. If you are solo you can attempt to lure the golem onto groups passing by.
That’s all I can think of atm.
It has happened many times in the reverse for me. Where the rewards are really high and by the time I am home from work they drop.
i.e. Aetherblade shoulders was 60 s and then 3 s by the time I got home.
I don’t know if they will take what we’re saying here into consideration, they say they will. But they are creating the new LS content and getting it “Ironed out” then they promise to see how the community feels. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. They are breaking all the established principles in Online sales. I deal with this daily, you must, must, must, know what your target audience wants. build a base, maintain that base as they will carry you through the lean times. Then build and draw in new customers. Anet has ignored all of the established premises. All I can say is I hope when then realize what has happened, and see GW2 has become the new joke of the mmo world. (hey it took many years for SOE to live down the SWG/NGE stigma, SWTOR falling flat on it’s face helped too.). I’ve gotten to the place where I don’t believe anything game developers say anymore. It’s like rule #1 (Whovians will smile at this) the Doctor lies. So it seems do gaming companies. Anet might actually be able to compete with EA for the most hated company.
Please let me be wrong.
The problem is that the feeling that living story updates are to frequent and causing a grind are not ubiquitous.
To my knowledge, that is incorrect. You can buy ascended jewellery with laurels, but those won’t give you agony resistance and so they’re useless in higher fractals.

a lot of people seem to think you need the crystals for score, so you just by pass them as they collect… you either have been unlucky in finding a race like that or you are one of those people going for the crystals.
Going for the crystals helps, because they increase your endurance, so you can spam #2 more.
Good call peeps, I forgot about the Mystic Forge stone, gold and Laurels. I don’t think that Gold and Laurels are PvE only though? I mean there is a Laurel vendor in WvW and you need money in WvW too. How is a weapon skin a PvE thing?
It seems to me that the Achievement Reward chests have something for everyone, no matter where their focus in the game lies….Pve, PvP, WvW.
I can’t see how ArenaNet could personalize the chest to your particular playstyle, so they just put a little something in for everyone, no matter where they play. =)
Hmm, maybe just my luck, but every single item I got was for PvP. Badges, blueprints, PvP armor, PvP glory booster (oh and a box of fun!)
Ouch. You got a thief/ranger alt for the short bow?
I actually have both, but don’t play either much. I also use Longbow primarily on Ranger and D/D on my Thief. I’ll probably throw the SB on both of them though, because why not?
Yesterday I picked the Zenith Short Bow (instead of the Staff) for my reward. (My main is a Mesmer).
I heard there was a glitch with some zenith weapons (if you click on something you get something else). Did you really click on short bow or did you click on staff and get the shortbow? If the latter, submit a ticket!
Oh, I was pretty sure I hit Staff, but I figured my finger must have slipped. Maybe it was the glitch? I’ll throw a ticket in tonight. Thanks
Maybe Anet can install some kind of hall monitor type thing to stop this outrageous behaviour of people helping people….or maybe, just maybe they have better things to be bothered about?
It’s helping sure, but it is also cheating and exploiting. It’s people getting something they didn’t work for and didn’t earn.
So what you are saying is me and some friends were exploiting/cheating when we invited others in the guild to get the cliffside kite achievement? or people joining a boss fight at the end and dealing enough damage to get the chest are cheating/exploiting because they didn’t work for it/do all the pre-quests?
I don’t know what kite achiev. you are talking about, haven’t done it yet so I can’t say one way or the other.
As far as the boss fight goes, if people come in and do enough damage to get credit for the kill then they are not cheating, they did what was required.
All that is required is hitting the boss once, especially if you are in a group. I have received credit for chest by barely hitting Fire Ele once with my GSword as I ran in with it at 5% hp. I do not think this is acceptable, but it’s in the game design.
In fact, I think it is better that people ‘fix’ these races, than it is that people get full credit on dragons for doing barely anything.
This game supports working together and helping others, and this is just another example of that.
Is it cheating if you are doing a mini-dungeon and get downed, and suddenly someone else comes and revives you and kills the end boss? You got full credit, but you really didn’t deserve it.
Yesterday I picked the Zenith Short Bow (instead of the Staff) for my reward. (My main is a Mesmer).
Interesting, I am on JQ and am having the exact opposite problem! Everytime I go there is a swarm of Blackgate and/or Sanctum waiting to destroy me.
Yesterday, it appeared both Sanctum and Blackgate allied up to kill the JQ people at the end of the JP though.
Both SoR and BG teaming up because YOUR server was griefing ALL non JQ players right at the very end of the jp and kite area. that is why SoR and BG teaming up to attack your server. i was there, i died 5 times thx to your server before i can finally get the achievement. you reap what you sow.
If that was the case why did everyone that you were with chase down all the people who weren’t fighting? I was just trying to portal a friend of mine and finish the JP?
I understand some of my server was probably doing that, but I have run in to both SoR and BG do the same thing.
I did not even realize there were more past the achievement!
There are some servers where there are no off hours, in my case, Jade Quarry has made a full time job of camping Jumping Puzzle , they literally went from top server to losing when the split happened because it was diverting so many of their players. As far as I know, there is no way to be stealthed and use a torch or alternate light source. I can get there regardless of the camping usually, but you can’t go further. Best bet for me is to wait for the reset and get in fast, I can outpace 99.5% of the players that go there but there are certain points I can’t get through when camped efficiently.
What fun is there in PvP by hunting down PvE players who are not built for PvP. It’s free kills, which is stuff being handed to you. I understand you are quite against things being handed to you so freely. So if that is the case, why do you want it there?
I couldn’t care less about killing PvE players. Generally I just ignore other people in OS JP anyway because I’m usually trying to beat my own times.
The reason why this is a PvE achievement, is that it is part of a find all 7 kites, 6 of which are in PvE. Additionally, JP’s are a PvE game type. It is definitely not a WvW game type, as the goal is not to capture anything. Holding the JP does not help out with your WvW standing. The goal of the puzzle is clearly PvE in nature, with open world PvP thrown in.
What would be the breakpoint for declaring something “Not a PvE Only” achievement, then? 1 kite in WvW isn’t enough, everyone is still calling it a PvE achievement. What if we put two of them in? Or one in WvW and one in sPvP?
At what point do we just accept that it’s just an achievement, not a “PvE” or “WvW” one?
Sure that is fair enough. Just imagine a turn around, where you need to get 9 kills.
1x ele
1x mesmer
1x thief
1x warrior
1x guardian
1x engineer
1x necro
1x ranger
1x Lupicus
This is clearly a PvP achievement up until the end.
That aside, it’s not really my point.
My point is that this isn’t fun. I love that JP and want to run it, but am blocked by swarms of opposing players. I don’t understand why they are even there, or why the design of the system encourages it.
I like the idea of making a PvE copy of the same JP.
If I was irritated, I wouldn’t be continuing our little funtime! =D
Sure, the matter at hand? What is that exactly again? I mean, when I hear a decent argument against the OS JP, I’d be happy to endorse it, but all I’ve heard so far is pouting and foot-stomping because there are a few achievement points tied up somewhere that isn’t a total cakewalk.
The ONLY thing I’ve heard that’s actually an issue is the fact that you can’t even get to the entrance if your side can’t hold the keep. That’s probably not entirely fair, yes.
Everything else is just the result of folks that have been spoiled by being handed piles and piles of achievement points for not doing much and being shocked that one single achievement might be out of their (self-imposed) short reach.
TL;DR: It’s not that hard! Stop telling yourself it is!
Not sure if you missed my post, or chose to ignore it.
My argument against it has nothing related to achievement points, but is simply related to having a PvE type event caught up in WvW. It’s not really fun to have swarms of people gank you as your trying to make your way through. I don’t see how it can be fun for them either.

It could even be left in PvP if it didn’t support such imbalances. Instead of a swarm, why not cap it at 5 players each. Then you could still have the PvP side of things as you race for the end, but it’d actually be sort of fair.

PvE with open world PvP is not necessarily a bad thing, but the way it is designed here is. I am going to reiterate. Having a swarm/zerg of people come in and kill you as you are trying to do a JP with 1 or 2 other people is not fun – for anybody. It is my understanding that this game revolves around being fun. Therefore, this is a fail.
I think you need to make up your mind. You want achievements which are geared towards WvW content and that is not handed freely.
- This achievement is not geared towards WvW as nothing in it is affected by WvW goals
- The only WvW aspect of it is that it’s PvP, and you can get some easy kills. However, you don’t want things handed to you freely/easily.
Personally, I wish that the races did play a role on how you experience the game.
For example, I think that asurans should be able to access more difficult / cramped locations.
I think that Norns and Charr should run the fastest.
I think that Sylvari should innately regenerate.
I agree that the racial skills could be a lot cooler.
God could you IMAGINE the outcry? Nerf this, buff that, this ain’t fair, that’s an exploit…yeesh.
Yeah I know, it is unfortunate.

It sounds like you have skipped a lot of story. How do you know that the writing is not very good?
Oh you can skim over content all know that. You can see and feel the quality
I see. Well I feel you are judging it unfairly, by not giving it your full attention. That said, I agree that the writing could be improved.
My main problem is less about the quality or direction of the story, but more how it is revealed. Issues are:
1. Small bits spaced out slowly. It takes awhile for me to get in to a story, so every time a new story arc comes along, I’ve already got ‘out of it’. This is obviously more of a personal thing. It’s similar to the feeling of watching a show every week, or watching it back to back on DVD. I find the stories are much more enjoyable back to back.
2. Too many hidden bits. Again, this is a personal taste sort of thing, but I prefer my story to be upfront and I experience it. I don’t really enjoy looking for the story, I want to ride along side it. This was more of an issue with the Southsun Cove story and less so with Dragon Bash, Sky Pirates and Bazaar of the Four Winds.
