From what I have seen is that they are buffing trait lines and skills that are not commonly used. This is to increase build diversity. I, for one, welcome this change. Keep in mind that if you change one of your traits to one of these buff traits, that you are losing your old one. It’s not going to single handedly make everyone stronger, just different.
My apologies, none of my NPCs died and they killed the first 1 or 2 groups, so I figured they were super useful. I 100% agree that laughing at others is rude and discouraging. Sorry I meant to add that in my reply post to you, but I am tired lol 8:30am here :P
My advice…download the free Kindle reading app for your phone and purchase the Kindle version of the books. You can buy the e-book directly via the app (and bonus, you’ll be able to easily share the e-book across multiple devices).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=sv_kstore_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000493771
(You’ll want to copy that link as text and paste it directly into your browser. The address is correct, but for some reason, the redirect from these forums isn’t working correctly for this link.)
Just as a side note, there are many ebook reading apps. This obviously depends on which mobile OS you are using? For Android, I know of a few: Nook, Kobo, Kindle, Aldiko and probably a bunch more. I personally use Nook, but I have a Nook eReader so it has access to my B&N library. I am not sure about Kindle, but the advantage of Nook, Aldiko and Kobo is that you can use .epub files on them, which is not a proprietary format like the default format Kindle uses. This means that you can read the file on a wide array of devices/programs.
I really feel the people who feel the need to laugh at people finding the content difficult should just not comment … seriously, you’re amazing, bully for you. Why make the less experienced players feel bad about finding content designed to be challenging for lower levels challenging?
Because the NPCs did all the work. I had my game muted and missed some of the talking, so I stopped and scrolled up to see what i had missed. When I read everything, I realized the Dolyak mission had started (didn’t expect that), so I ran to catch up and they had killed all of the first group. I am pretty sure you can afk the instance and still succeed.
What is the source for this rumor?
Wish you hadn’t spoiled this for me as well :|
Maybe rename this thread to
SPOILER: ANet revealed assassin on Facebook
They are all fundamentally different.
as I said before, I don’t PvP so there is my bias, but I feel like people should wait and see how this pans out before crying foul.
Experience with ArenaNet patches suggests otherwise.
Perhaps it will be dependent on speed moving, or length of time moving. Maybe if it is length of time all you need to do is move a few steps, stop for a millisecond, move a few steps etc.. That’d slow you down less than cripple.
It clearly does not do this, as it deals damage even if you are not moving, just less damage.
Currently chill, cripple and immobilize will stop you from moving too, but they are unavoidable. In this instance, you could move and take damage, or sit still and not take damage. The choice is yours and it’s a trade off. This game needs more trade offs like that imo.
I think you need to go back and re-read the description of Torment. It deals damage regardless of whether you are moving, so the trade-off is: stand still and take damage or move and take more.
However, you admittedly do not PvP, so you may not truly realize how important movement and positioning is to the PvP. It’s extremely important.
My apologies, I did skim over the description quickly. I figured I’d learn the specifics when it actually launched and I could play around with it.
The main point is still there though, that the increased damage may be related to how long or fast you are moving.
Anyway, I am pretty sure any change to the game are going to make some people happy and others upset. Very few changes do only one or the other. This is one of the few changes that I have actually been excited about since launch.
Hmm, I think it will just mean that condition removal will be more important. It’s no different than any other condition really..
Weakness your ability to dodge is hindered
Bleeding punishes you for having flesh
Confusion punishes you for attackingTorment punishes you for moving
In all situations, must use condition removal. Maybe we need to see it in action before we claim that it is breaking the basics of the game mechanics. Perhaps, instead, it will simply increase the variability on each fight and how one reacts.
You just listed how fundamentally different Torment is from the other conditions, and yet you cannot see how it’s different? Torment punishes you for moving. That’s actually worse than Confusion (which, I believe, should never proc if your opponent is activating a condition removal ability).
If ArenaNet puts something like Torment in the game, it should be used very sparingly, and not given to classes with good mobility.
They are all fundamentally different.

I personally like that they are adding a new condition which will change the way the game is played.
As a person who plays the mesmer quite a bit, I can state that giving Thieves and Mesmers Torment is, generally, a bad idea!
These classes, along with the Elementalist, are very slippery and mobile classes, requiring opponents to be equally mobile to stand a chance of defeating them. Giving them access to a condition which punishes an opponent for pursuing (or running away from) these classes is entirely too much.
I’m sure the developers already know what I just stated, but I am uncertain if they have really played through the implications of this.
Torment can be used to punish an opponent for acting both offensively and defensively. It can be used to help pin down an opponent and help you escape from one.
Fundamentally, I have seen the ArenaNet developers try hard to push GW2 players in ways that force them to become better at the game. One of the most, and perhaps the single most, important aspect in PVP is learning how to move and position yourself well. Creating a condition that punishes movement of any kind seems counterproductive to that goal.
I think giving Necromancers access to Torment is an excellent idea, or for any class/build that is limited in mobility.
If Mesmers and Thieves get Torment, then basically ANet will have to balance Torment around the damage it does while a person moves. Doing anything otherwise would be pretty silly, and I think that would really marginalize the effectiveness of the DoT for classes like Necromancers.

I am really looking forward to these changes! I’d love to see some builds spiced up and am eager to try out Torment on my mesmer.
However, I exclusively PvE, so balance concerns are not as big for me.
I agree with the how fast is fast?
You can hit level 80 in 40-50 hours of playtime, which is pretty fast. That is with 0 hours for crafting. I’ve done it by personal story, dynamic events and map completion on several characters.
Stupid game using boring mechanics like hitting buttons on the keyboard. I will only consider it content if I have to hit buttons on something else!!!
Try this. Instead of just mindlessly zerging to every WP and then complaining about how fast and boring it is, run between them and do the events in the area. I did about 50 different events, many of which I had never seen before while running around and finding them. It broke it up, made it more exciting and was fun.
So your argument is that the new content is fun, not because the new content is fun, but because you are doing something else at the same time?
Allow me to make an analogy
Say I watch a new show and I say it is horrible, 0/10.
Then you come in and say, no that show was great, because while you were watching it you saw some really funny commercials, some for products you’ve never even heard of. You then recommend that people would enjoy the show more if they didn’t skip the commercials with their TiVo.
Does that make sense to you?
I dont think your analogy is correct. In you case the bulk of what you experiance is the show with the commercials being a small subset. A better analogy would be say I had to go to city hall to sign something but thats okey cause I had fun along the way chatting with people, stopping at a bar, shopping etc…. If it werent for having to sign that paper at city hall I would have stayed home watching Tv. Both are fun but thanks to the not so fun activity (going to city hall to sign the paper) I got to do something different that otherwise I wouldnt have done.
Also please keep in mind this effigy thing is just 1 activity in this new content.
Thing is you’re right.. there is nothing fun with pressing F on the effigy perse. But that doesnt mean you cannot have fun while doing it. its one of those cases where the fun is in the journey not in the destination luckly you only need to spend literally 1 second at the destination so thats not a problem. (okey 5 seconds if you watch the whole dance)
Your analogy is great, but the point of the analogy is that the argument that the content is fun because you are doing something else is not a positive for the content.
You could just go outside and chat to people, or you could just watch the commercials on YouTube. Why do the task that isn’t very fun to do? Why even add it in the first place. This thread is a critique on the fact that the effigies are not fun. ArenaNet has shown that they are welcome to feedback and respond accordingly. I hope they look at this thread and come up with fun ways to have us go around and do these fun events while also doing fun content.
I agree with OP 100% on how illogical and not-fun the effigies are. This is the same for Moa racing and pinata’s. Dragonball was at least something that was actually a game and was kind of fun. Not my cup of tea per se, but it was a good addition.
Stupid game using boring mechanics like hitting buttons on the keyboard. I will only consider it content if I have to hit buttons on something else!!!

I would say there is a drastic difference between racism and elitism: racism implies a judgement of inferiority of a race, this is a wholistic approach. Racist people despise other races based on characteristics that are the e’ssence of this race. They hate what defines the people composing this race. On the contrary elitism implies a judgement on specific characteristics that do not define in themselves the persons that have them.
For example: i can judge your skill level and decide it is inferior to mine, but that foes not make you an inferior person in any way. It is like saying I am taller than you: it’s a statement of fact and you have no reason to feel bad about it. The caracteristic judged is determined and measurable. Racist people believe people in other races are inferior in themselves. Do you understand my point?
I believe you misunderstood my analogy.
The -ist at the end of elitist implies that you are discriminating against some based on the former part of the word
i.e.
Sexist / based on gender
Racist / based on race
Classist / based on what class one is
Agist / based on age
Elitist / based of how elite one is (based on skill)
Naturally this is not the case for any word that ends with ist; such as bioligist, physicist, altruist, assist etc etc.
However, I am not saying that Racism and Elitism operate in the same way or are in anyway related. I am simply saying that the word implies descrimination.
This act can occur both ways. It does not have to be an elite person being prejudice towards an inferior player. It can be an inferior player excluding a better player based on their skill. The only reason i can see this, is if that person expects the better skilled player to be ‘elitist’ simply because they are an ‘elite’ player, but that isn’t a given. The act is hypocritical, because the inferior player is acting elitist in this scenario.
However the technical definition is (which differs slightly from my interpretation)
e·lit·ist
/i?l?tist/
Noun
A person who believes that a system or society should be ruled or dominated by an elite.
Adjective
Favoring, advocating, or restricted to an elite.
Panzer is a terrorist, quick get him!
In all seriousness, I agree with Panzer.
EDIT: As we are on the suggestion forum, I’d like to add the suggestion that this sum total damage be more clear. When a value pops above a head of an enemy when I hit it, I expect that value = the damage of the hit. It’s OK that it is the sum, but if so many warriors are like me, then there should be clearer messaging.
Click your combat tab, it will tell you exactly what each individual hit does.
mhmm I get that. It’s not visually obvious though. Thank you for the tip anyway
Hmmm I agree and disagree..
In a dungeon you type ooc, because it is quick and you need to use convey the message quickly. You may be saying ooc as let’s get ooc, in which case you are still in combat and cannot afford to take the time to fully type out the message or you’ll die. Otherwise you are already ooc, in which case you could type it out, but it may result in your party member’s death due to time taken.
However, on a forum or in a report, I believe it is common practice to define an acronym. This is especially the case if you plan to re-use it over and over through-out.
In-game I do not see a problem with what you did, “I’m not sure what OOC means” after combat. Then they tell you, now you know. The worst that happened is you didn’t get OOC and died.
Therefore the risk of typing out Out of Combat is you or a party member could die, and the risk of not typing it out is the same. However, if people continue to use the acronyms then more and more people will learn them and less and less people will die for this reason.
I agree, I think winning a match should earn more than 1 coffer
Warriors need a nerf and berserker gear also needs a big nerf
People don’t take me on their parties because my build and gear sucks. Please nerf their build and gear so mine doesn’t look so trash.
I have a full zerk warrior, and use full zerk for most of my 80’s.
I support the notion that zerk gear needs nerfing, and more importantly warriors need nerfing.
The damage output I can do on my warrior compared to my other 4 80’s is mind boggling. If I see something like 7-9k damage on a hit from one of my classes, I am like awesome! If I see that on my warrior, I think what’s wrong?
Record hit on warrior = 42k on end of hundred blades, this doesn’t include the several hits before the final of the chain
Record hit on other class = ~11k
You have multiple 80’s and you don’t even know how the attack works?… that number is the SUM OF 8 HITS. Flip over to your combat tab kitten >.>
Really? Thank you for the tip.
I assume that is the case for all of my other classes then, in which case the relative value of the hundred blades is still way higher than the highest attacks on the other 4 classes. I will play around with them to see for certain anyway.
EDIT: As we are on the suggestion forum, I’d like to add the suggestion that this sum total damage be more clear. I ran through Straits of Devastation last night with a group of about 8 people, trying to figure out how to start the Eye of Zhaitan event. It was actually quite fun, and I went places I’ve never really been before. We got to do some events that nobody does, kill some epic bosses, use some really cool environmental weapons, and confusing catacombs. It made me realize how FUN this zone actual can be when you are not alone and getting roflstomped by risen at every turn. There is so much to do, so many places to go, so many events. The only problem is that the events that contest waypoints respawn about every 10 minutes. I got tired of killing the same Risen Acolyte Leader just so people could wp to my group.
The problem is too many people guide their gaming experience based on rewards. If it takes too long to do, or doesn’t drop a chest, they won’t do it. Never mind the fun…who plays games for fun anyways. It’s all about VIRTUAL PROFIT!
Gotta say my aversion to Orr fits quite neatly into the opposite of your point. Rewards are better there (nicer drops for mats etc), but the place is not fun and is ugly to boot. That of course is my personal opinion and others may differ. I’d much rather have more places like Bloodtide coast, where it is bright and sunny.
New update from today:
Reducing “The Dragon Bash Experience” meta-achievement required total number from 10 down to 8. The Dragon Ball Achievements do not count towards its completion
+1 for the enchanter’s armor (mesmer armor)
If you want to continue to exist. Which is optional if you’re aware of what people do when they don’t want that option.
Everything is optional.
Right. So if he doesn’t like the released content, he can choose to ignore it and ignore the achievements attached to it, because they have no impact on your gameplay. You pay no subs, you can leave this game for a few days and do something else.
I don’t see the problem?
EDIT: By framing your statement that way, you’re completely ignoring or missing the point on why people say achievements are “optional.” Namely, that the consequences of NOT doing it is minimal (or none, as some can argue.)
If you choose to stop breathing, you die. If you choose to stop taking showers, you earn social stigma. These are consequences far more significant than missing out on 10 achievement points in GW2.
Note: if you stop taking showers, you will likely die from a disease linked to lack of sanitation.
The point here is that the argument that you do not have to do the content is not a valid response to a post providing feedback on the disappointment on that.
For example, say you go to a hotel and fill out a feedback card saying that you did not like the sheets that the hotel provided as they were uncomfortable. If you received a response from someone else saying, sleep on the couch. You’d probably be pretty irritated.
Anyway, the main point of this post is that the content added is not fun. The majority of it is extremely repetitive. There is no “achievement” in lighting 100 fireworks. They could have made it light 1 firework and had the same celebratory effect. Instead, this felt like a chore.
To make the added things more ‘fun’ I would do the following
Fireworks Achievement: Light up the sky with every color by lighting fireworks with 2 friends at the same time!
Moa Achievement: Win 3 races by using the specialized moa boxes on the race course to determine the outcome!
Dragonball: These achievements are fine, 20 wins isn’t that bad and is actually an achievement. Maybe remove the 20 participations and/or make it 1 game participation reward.
Holograms: Make this more skill based and less repetitive based. i.e. Kill all the holograms in less than 3 seconds after activation. (or something like that).
Coffers: Mostly I’d keep them as is. However, I’d have the option to buy coffers with candy that you get from the coffers. Maybe 10 candy = 1 coffer
Repeat X task Y times is not a fun mechanic.

Please no!
I hope to never return there.

Anet, how about…4 mails before suppression? That way we can send food to party members in dungeons.
but all you have to do is ..
A Mail 4x food to person B
B mail 3x food to person C
C mail 2x food to person D
D mail 1x food to person E
Solutions!
Also, please raise thresholds.
For me it is less about more difficult content and more about increasing the value of support and control as you said.
I think there is plenty of more difficult content, but the reward is not there, so getting people to go is difficult. I really want to run Arah, but my guildmates just want to do CoF, because they are trying to get gold for their legendaries. Having CoF be a gold mine in combination with the only end-game goal as getting legendaries and that in combination with the lack of usefulness of support/control, ANet has created a perfect storm for the 4 zerk warrior + mesmer CoF run.
I’d like to see Arah be more rewarding and for support/control to be more important for fights.
Above all, for me, I’d like to see death actually mean something. Right now dying is an annoyance. I die and am like grr now I gotta WP. I want death to actually be something I fear happening to my character. The best step towards this was the fact that you cannot WP during combat in dungeons, but imo, more needs to be done.
Working as intended. And yes, that’s really worrying. I mean, a track race? Which rewards you for playing more? (Just. Need. Three. More. Tickets. For. That. Higher. Reward. Just three more, c’monnnnnnnn Meeeeeep!) Everything screams “please place a bet in our casino! Is this your lucky day? No luck at the track race? Maybe try our coffers! No luck? Our BL chests will certainly give you something! You can’t be unlucky all the time, right?”
Do you think one should be rewarded for playing less? I am confused by your highlighted word.
That said, there are definitely issues with the moa track racing. It is completely random throwing money down the drain. I would prefer if there was actually some sort of game embedded in this mini game.
(edited by Jemmi.6058)
That is an unfortunate story indeed.
However, you and your friend can still get credit if they tag everything and the others kill them. Perhaps you should have showed your friend how to AoE so should could hit as much as possible to get credit.
I do not think it is appropriate for you to ask others to leave. Sure you and your friend do not want to limit your gameplay, but nor do other people. ArenaNet designed this game that everyone gets credit as long as you help out, so you and your friend should not have had such problems getting credit.
As for the responses in map chat, that is pretty immature, for sure. Not everyone is like that though.
It is funny, because so many people complain that low level areas are empty and that looks bad to newbies, but here you are suggesting the exact opposite.
I found that the randomized teams gave you a good one often enough that getting 20 wins wasn’t so bad. It also doesn’t take too long to figure out the mechanics. I went from being the bottom scorer (between 0 and 3) to top scorer (highest score of 18) after playing several times.
You can bet me 100g! If you win I will pay you back 140 gold and if I win, I keep the winnings!!:D
Just kidding of course, I do not think that you should trust me, even though I think I am very trustworthy. I am a random to you! Also, I do not have 140 gold, so I would need to pay you back in increments lol.
IMO Elitist is to Elite as Racist is to Race
Basically Elite = High level of skill
Elitist = Being prejudice vs others based on level of skill
Just as Race = Cultural and geographical origins
Racist = Being prejudice vs others based on race
EDIT: I haven’t personally run in to a lot of elitism in this game, and I more see it from a perspective on the forums. I do hate how many people in PUGs fall into one of 3 categories 1) I know all and you know nothing mentality 2) I am not going to say a word this entire dungeon or 3) I am really really bad
I find it very difficult to find fun, normal people to PUG with. It happens but seems to be a rarity, so I mostly play with guildmates.
I do not find that people dislike those who are good, but I think people just dislike ill-mannered players. Ill mannered players can be good or bad.
(edited by Jemmi.6058)
I want more options and everything to be common. That way not everyone is running around with the same skins, and I can get the skins I want.
These Jade Weapon skins are the only skins I have liked (other than SAB) since the game launch. I do like the Priory weapon skins too. Other than that I am not loving most of them.
About dem odds..
The odds of getting a ticket on box 100 is the same as getting one on box 1
The odds of getting one after 100 boxes is greater than the getting one after 1 box
So, yes, it is correct to say that you do not have a better chance of getting a ticket on your next box once you have opened so many boxes, but you do have a better chance of getting a ticket after opening many boxes.
I have not got mine yet, and I do not feel entitled to it, but I hope I get one this month! On another note, I have got 2 holographic wing drops 0.o
wait… I’ll forget the rude nature of your response for a second but let us just clarify something.
please if you don’t mind answer a few of the following questions:
1. Content although diffrent and “enjoyable” as stated by yourself has however been very simular from one event to the other?
2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”
I do not really agree that the content has been very similar to one another. No more similar than different levels or areas in any other game.
Naturally there are similarities, because it is in the same universe. It is also a living story that is evolving, so each step should theoretically be a small incremental change from the last.
The first couple months of living story = running around talking to people, scavenging a bit
Then came Braham and Rox with solo instances and a bit of story to get us going
Then came Molten Weapon Facility which ended the Braham and Rox story ark in a group dungeon
Then came Southsun where it was a massive farmfest on a single island with major MF boosts and repeatable events in open world. This also added a crab toss mini game.
Then came a single boss fight with a few different tactics from the weapon
Then came an entire continent wide festival with a betting race and other activities (dragonball, pinata’s) and loot drops everywhere.
I really don’t think that any of them are all that similar. They range from solo to group, from small instance to open world, from 1 zone to entire continent etc..
The only similar thing is weapon skin + RNG box, and even that has changed a bit every time (in terms of both appearance of weapon and how the RNG box works).
I hate all the illegal alien ‘guesters’ on my lower population server.
If I’m in zone and I see some running around to the holos, I’ll activate them just so they can’t get their loot.
Really… I have that much hate for them.
A prime example of how after thousands of years of technological advancement, and we still get petty and jealous over something so small as digital gambling boxes and fake dragon taffy. Yay, humans.
This kind of stuff is why the GW2 community has a bad reputation.
I’m not petty over the dragon coffers. I actually hate those things and wish they did not infect the whole loot table. I can’t even run dungeons without getting this crap.
I just hate illegal aliens clogging my server up. Go home.
Illegal: Contrary to or forbidden by law
alien: Belonging to a foreign country or nation.
Guesting is not forbidden by law.
People from other servers may or may not be from a different country or nation.
Despite your random and senseless hatred towards illegal aliens, the people guesting on your server are not them.
The art definitely feels modern, and actually has real life brands (TAGHeuer for example). It’s unlikely that real life brands would make it into a video game, so perhaps this is more of an inspiration piece?
I’d really like it to be hinting at a new Cantha Expansion but I doubt that is the case
I am not a fan of the idea, as it will encourage people to akitten around dynamic events to farm materials.
These creatures do die fast, so I can see how it may be hard to tag them; however, I do not think you need to do a lot of damage to get the full loot.
Which profession are you playing? Perhaps I can suggest a skill for mass tagging.
It really doesn’t matter which profession I’m playing (Mesmer, Ranger, Elementalist, Guardian) since those heavy-hitters (not one alone, 2- a group of them) kills everything alive in an instant.
Recommend you play Ele and throw down lava font to tag, probably the easiest and fastest way to tag a bunch of mobs.
It might be my server or time of play, but i was on for hours yesterday and did not have any problems. In fact, I solo’d most of the hologram things that I found.
Actually a warrior would be. GS-1h/Warhorn. Thats perma swiftness with the two GS rushes and the leap on 1h. If I run this in WvW no one has caught up to me and been able to kill me yet. There is more mobility on warrior then ele imo and since the holo’s are about “Getting there fast and quickly”. If its about aoe then you could just use axe #6 since it has no AOE cap limit, while lava font i believe is capped at 3? Just because eles have aoe doesnt mean they are better at tagging. melee weapons cleave which is in essence an AOE Melee Strike. We have to be closer but if you really have to be ranged, which i never have to do cuz im there and leap in with sword, then by all means use Longbow #3 or heal beforehand for full adrenaline and fire field f1.
How is lava font better than a necro well or engi nade? These mob so low HP i seriously doubt you need the damage of a ele lava font (lava font > nade > well) to tag.
Perhaps I have not mastered warrior, but I find that Ele’s are much more mobile. As an Ele you can have perma-swiftness. If you go D/D RTL is quite fast as well.
I have never used a necro or engi so I do not know them; however, my brief experience with engi nade is that it is slow in terms of waiting for the grenade to land. Lava font is instantly placed on the ground from up to 900 range away and will instantly hit anything in the AOE circle. There is no cast time and no travel time of the spell. You do not need to be at the location (900 range) unlike a warrior.
I believe the Lava Font caps at 5. AFAIK all AoE caps at 5, and many melee attacks cap at 3.
Longbow has the wait-time on arrows moving.
you get +1 for the achievement if your moa is among the first 3, so it’s a 60% chance.
got mine after 3 races with first, first, third
I didn’t
I got 1st twice and then got 2nd a bunch of times without getting the 3rd winning achievement until I got 1st again.
I agree with OP.
I was excited to try this out when I read about it online. Then when I got home I was chatting to my guild and they mentioned you cannot go in with friends and are grouped with randoms. My interest level immediately plummeted.
Skirts skirts and more skirts. Will light ever get pants? I mean that doesnt cost gem and look like something a cheap stripper would wear?
There are light armor pants..
also
the skirt above barely qualifies as a skirt :S
IMHO its definitely a skirt, there are shorter skirts already in game. The light set is the only one that I don’t like as a result, the medium and heavy sets look good.
This is exactly what I’ve been asking for from the gem store rather than RNG and more RNG.
Not really the place for debate on this, but just wanted to say – it is technically a skirt, yes. I just meant it was barely a skirt in that it had leggings/pants underneath and is very long. There is really only 1 light armor skirt I like in this game and that is the starter one :\ I wish there was more selection.
don’t think of it as horse racing.
think of it more as a visualised sort of roulette with only 5 slots
:P
Either way, I think that this would make the event more fun!
Hey Anet, I played around with the new content yesterday and had quite a lot of fun, but I had feedback and an idea regarding the moa racing.
Unfortunately, this cannot compare to horse racing in rl, because there is no strategy involved with better. You cannot follow a horse and find out if it has a better chance of winning and/or play the odds and vote for the underdog. This is 100% random which isn’t really fun. Throw 50 silver away and just wait to see what happens. Granted, I’ve never been interested in horse racing in rl, but I feel that this is what moa racing is emulating.
I’d like it if interactivity was added. I think the best way for this would be if everyone could use their skills/spells to try and fix the outcome. You can swiftness your moa and cripple the other, pull and push the moas forward or backward, stun or daze the enemy Moa’s. Naturally, everyone will be doing this which would result in a mad scramble! I think it’d be a lot of fun to see all the skills flying to try and get your moa to win!
The only downside that I have thought of, is the fact that people will all vote on one moa and ensure it wins by telling everyone in the area to vote on that moa. I am unsure on the best way to address that concern with this idea.
Thoughts?

15 – 20 hours to get the gold
then 8-ish hours to craft up to 80 (that is what I read for how long it takes?) I assume this includes alt tabbing to the guide and buying mats.
Then you have to add how many hours it will take for you to run your character to any place worthwhile (i.e. to Fireheart Rise COF for more COF farming).
23-28 hours for crafting + 0 map completion and 0 WP’s.
Or you could just level a character normally in 40ish hours and have a lot of the waypoints in the map discovered through normal levelling. Oh and this is way more fun than grinding CoF and sitting in LA crafting.
Staff ele tags stuff quicker than anything else I have played :|
Flame Burst is definitely the fastest if you targetted the enemy. Otherwise throw down lava font at the spawning spot
If I go out and by a lottery ticket in real life I have no idea about my chances of winning the jackpot.
Sure you do. Pretty much every lottery is legally required to provide the exact odds of winning.
or at least state that odds of winning depend on the number of contestants

The medium armor looks OK though
