This is the best kind of build. The kind that you may or may not run, but makes you think about things differently. Very well done!
I use sword more now, in my shatter spec, i just have my gear saved and forgot to change it out. But with sword and torch, with Ip i can usually run in and hit a very nice burst on someone. While in the zerg i stay in staff.
As for the glammours, I’ve gone that route over and over. My problem is, i find them very lack luster when I’m solo roaming. That’s why i’m trying something different. This has some potential to me, for solo roaming and zerging. My main concern is if the clone on deaths are going to compensate for the lack of shatters getting to my targets in wvw.
I’ll be running this the next few nights, and report back my findings.
Morning Mesmers
This is something I’ve been working on the past few weeks, as I’ve really been embracing my shatter side lately. I’ve been working on shattering inside a zerg, with ok results. But then i thought of trying something like this.
The build is designed around the idea of using clones as my ranged aoe attack with shatter. The problem i have been facing with this, is that quite often my shatter does not make it to my desired target, and is killed in the middle of the zerg before getting there. With these new tweeks, if my shatter does die somewhere on the way to my target, the people around the clone will take on a ton of conditions and a cripple.
So to start taking crippling dissipation was a no brainer, since i want my clones to punish the opposing group if they die on the way. And cleansing conflag, because pretty much every build i make uses the torch, it’s a staple for mesmering for me.
Next I took debilitating dissipation, for the same reason above. And Chaotic dampening for the reduction on my staff skills, and for the clone generation. This with Illusionist celerity means i can pump out clones extremely fast.
Finally in the bottom line i took masterful reflection, because i believe reflects in that environment are awesome, and this trait has saved my bacon on more then one occasion. Illusionairy Ellasticity, because it buffs my staff ability and my torch ability. And Illusionary persona. Being able to pop off an invulnerability or a solo mind wrack is invaluable if you get caught in the wrong spot.
For utilities I’ve been running mimic, and I really have found it useful as of late in giant fights. Mirror images is probably the key utility in this build. When i use it i feel like i’m loading my cannons, getting ready to fire. But it can also be used for on demand invulnerability ect ect. And decoy for another stun break, and another clone generator.
Before tweeking my build i was having more success solo, so i think this build will still be viable for roaming, just not as great as it was i added the clone on death traits.
Let me know what you all think, and any ideas you all might have to make it better.
Phantasmal haste reduce time between phantasm Attacks.
Doesn t reduce summoning skills CD.Also its bugged.
It’s not supposed to reduce the cool down. So many people think it does, by not reading the tool tip.
This happened to me as well. And now everyone gets to sit in the que for hours.
Since i was getting some serous skill lag in SMC in a three way, i decided to try and throw down some turret’s and see what happened. Trying to let the turret do some damage while i kept myself alive. I was surprised that not only did my turrets not get instantly destroyed, they actually managed to get me some wvwxp. I don’t know if this was an isolated incident, and i still don’t know if i would actually ever spec in turrets, but i did use them successfully for the first time ever. And it made me think, that maybe if had the turrets explode on kill trait it would have been neat as well. I know a lot of people post on here about how much they hate turrets, so i thought i would at least share my one positive experience.
The mesmers defense, imo, is not in the armor he wears. I ran full zerkers for a long time. But i enjoy a bit of a hybrid attack. So i went rampagers. Allowing my staff and scepter to hit decently hard, and my conditions to have some sting.
Wow i thought my post died, but someone necro’d it for me! In WvW i run by myself maybe 30% of the time. Maybe 20% with a small group, and 50% of the time in a zerg, with a small group.
I’ve been running a hybrid spec for a long time. And i really enjoy it for Pve and WvW. I don’t clear arah paths in 30 minutes or less, or your money back or anything. But i have a lot of fun doing what i do.
I finally settled on
http://tinyurl.com/kewsrlm
I read somewhere that the illusionary haste is comparable to 15% phatasm damage. This number may be WAY off but it made me feel better enough about the build to take it.
I’ve also messed around with a 30/0/30/10/0 version of a PU build with Confusing enhancements. I’m not sure which one i like better, there very similar.
Watching 7 mirros videos (he was imo the best mesmer I’ve ever watched, and i miss him) he said once that he switched builds sometimes daily, so maybe it isn’t such a bad thing that i’m constantly changing. But i feel like i’ll never get quite as good as i could if i don’t stick to one thing.
Hello again Mesmers
So i keep switching specs, in WvW. I know what i like but i can’t seem to fit everything into one spec and be satisfied. I’ll explain the things i try to get in every spec, then i’ll post specs i’m switching around.
Trait’ed torch- I love the torch so much i got the legendary. I have tried running without it, but i love the condition removal and the stealth.
Glamours that cause confusion- I love glamours in wvw. Null Feild and Feedback stay on my bar. I’m very aware that it’s not what it used to be. But i still love the skills and really like the confusion attached.
Here are some of my specs i run.
This is my phnatasm heavy build but it lacks confusion on glamour
http://tinyurl.com/mebsls8
This is a slight variant, has confusion glamours, but no illusionary elasticity which i think really helps staff damage and pressure. I also lose 15% phantasm damage.
http://tinyurl.com/ll9z9tp
This one has elasticity but no celerity, and without staff trait’ed, the lack of celerity is super noticeable.
http://tinyurl.com/lqbt8t8
This might be my favorite, so far. My glamours are untrait’ed and i love my condition on heal. But i do get everything else. Plus i get illusions bleeding on crit which i think is a nice addition, and something I’ve been trying to squeeze in.
To sum up
Things i must have
Illusion on glamour
Trait’ed Torch
Things i really want
Illusionary Elasticity
Illusionary Celerity (almost a must have)
Illusions bleed on crit
I’m willing to take any advice, (except don’t run confusion on glamour) especially when it comes to sigils.
Thank you to anyone who helps me with my build. Also please no menace posting here. Since it tends to derail threads.
I don’t mind the pink hearts, it’s the yellow moons and green clovers that get on my nerves.
I run a glamour torch build. Works fine for me in 1v1 or Zerg v Zerg. I can’t guarantee a win vrs anyone, but i do well enough for myself, especially since i’m definitely not the fastest player out there(skill wise). Mesmers can bring a lot to a zerg. It just depends on how you spec. I run with a small group with another mesmer, who uses the focus like it’s going out of style. The reflects can be game changing. Can a guardian also reflect? Sure! But i have no intention of playing a guardian in WvW because the mesmer can do so many more things that i enjoy. While glamours aren’t what they were, they are still very powerful, feedback in a zerg v zerg or 1v1 can be a powerful tool. The same can be said for Null Field, but i feel its slightly less useful. The best thing to do is take your Mesmer out to the field and try some things. People on the forums decide whats “optimal” sometimes, but have tried something for about a 2 hour spam, and decided this or that doesn’t play like a something else, so they give up. Stripping a bunch of stability stacked melee as they try to charge into your ranks is amazingly fun. And watch any plague form necro freak out when there precious buffs are gone. I really suggest giving glamours another go. Not trying to relive “what they were” but to see if they are part of what you can make your character now.
I’ve tried PU a bunch of times, but it just doesn’t fit my style. So I’ve been bouncing around with builds like this.
And
I love my glamours for small group play, and for zerg vs zerg. I find myself missing the remove condition on heal when i don’t have it. Between my generosity sigil, torch and null field i can remove a ton of conditions. I’ve also kind of grown addicted to illusionist celerity. The confusion and sometimes blind on glammours really gives them an extra sting. I know glamour builds aren’t what they use to be. But i still like the build.
I love a lot of the builds i see on the forums. But i find it hard to make a build that’s great for 1vmany and also group play. And so far i’m satisfied with this.
Anyone created an asura, using the dragon helm and wings that looks good? I have the helm on my Guardian and it always makes his head look gigantic and silly. And the wings look goofy. I just got Rodgort on my Mesmer and i have the light helm, and the teq wings, so i would love a dragon look, but i don’t want to be a bobble head.
Anyone have a nice look they can post?
How bad would running travelers runes and celestial armor kitten this build?
The fact that there are hundreds of upset players right now. And no one is responding is pretty terrible. You cannot leave the zone, because then you will be stuck in an overflow diminishing your chance for success. So most of us have been here waiting for hours. We were organized and had numbers, now attrition has made it so that if it does spawn, it will likely not be a success. Its not to much to ask, for a simple, hey its not working message. Everyone is upset, and what will be done, nothing. People waited for house, and instead of having fun, they left upset. This isn’t what this game was supposed to be about.
If any of you ever played DAOC, i think mantra’s are supposed to be like there warlock class. Long channel instant class skills. The diference is, the warlock could charge several damaging spells at once. So he would charge up, and if he blew all his charges he would be defenseless, you might be dead, but he would be if you weren’t. Kind of a burst cast class.
To me if they increased the damage from power spike immensely, and maybe added a vulnerability to another of the mantra’s, this idea might work here as well.
I don’t think you can discount two things, for Greatsword when roaming. One 99% of the people start running at 10% i have no idea why. If i’m about to lose, i just keep on losing. But many run. And chasing someone with a staff can be painful. The snare on the zerker is a lifesaver. Also you suffer no retaliation on Izerker damage. In today’s environment where retaliation is stacked like crazy, this is a huge plus for me.
I love the torch, love cleansing conflag, even without PU i still love the trait. I love the look of it, iv’e actually been working toward my first legendary, which is the torch, for months now. That phatasm tho, really frustrates me to death. I’ve tried to modify my build countless times, to try and get a little more use out of him. I’ve specced illusion do 15% more damage, which really wasn’t remarkable. Illusionairy haste, which i didn’t notice a difference. I took the bouncing trait, and then i found out his attack doesn’t really bounce.
I’m at the point now of running pistol off hand, with null feild, and honestly, it just feels superior in every sense. I have very decent condition removal, the magic bullet isn’t as awesome as the prestige, but it’s neat. And the phantasm actually endangers the enemy! Has anyone had any luck with this? If so any tips to help my guy fall back in love with the torch would be appreciated.
I’ve been running it in WvW. I wouldn’t have posted it, if i hadn’t tried it for awhile :P Ive done pretty well 1v1 with it. I has some nice synergy. It still needs some tweaking tho. The build is mainly for running with the zerg, but i think the conditions have caught a few people by surprise.
I’ve been fooling around with a range condition build. With some ability to heal in the backline. While still able to push in with a group, and survive and cause some havoc. I’m very happy with what i have so far. But it’s missing some things.
Couple notes
I use perplexity runes which are not in the builder.
Bonuses
I can get bleeds, and burns, and confusions on opponents pretty non stop.
3 Sources of aoe damage. I honestly change my utilities a lot. Swapping out radiation field first. But i have it on the build, because i do use it. My aoe staff hits, proc bleeding, burning, and confusion.
Very high condition damage.
Line of warding causes nice confusion.
Pretty fun and unusual guardian play style.
I built this in the sense of other shaman, or chain mail wearing healing/damage casters.
Cons
The lack of permanent swiftness is really killing me. Sometimes i put retreat on my bar, with shorter shout cool down. Between that and staff it seems ok, but seems sub par.
I’m not as tough as most guardians, but that’s ok, since i play at range a lot. Moving in with staff when the initial crazy is over.
I’m not sure if permeating wrath is worth it. Since i think i might be better served without it. Since from what i understand it’s a pbaoe on my position.
Any thoughts besides (don’t run this build you are guardian be shouts) would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Mesmers,
I’ve found myself recently playing my mesmer, less and less in WvW lately. Not because of any issues with the class, I know people have issues, but i still have a blast with it. more so because lately it seems like there are less and less mesmers in WvW. And with the smaller numbers, i am often asked to run things, that i don’t typically run, or have fun with. The other day when i was asked if had portal on my bar, and i said no, i was asked to change it. And i would not. And i was then called a “non compliant mesmer”. Quite a few people sent me tells, because i did not want to put portal on my bar to portal golems all day. At this point in the day, i was already using veil, which i don’t often use. I know some people like Osicat are awesome with Veil. But i simply do not like it. And i was using time warp, for said golems. I was also running centaur runes, which add to the zergs swiftness (but honestly they are more for me).
It seems to me, that if you are a mesmer in WvW, if you do not spec exactly for the benefit of others, then more and more lately, people act nasty about it. I already had dedicated a utility and my elite utility to help the zerg. If i had also chosen portal, i would have one utility i could use for myself.
I’m very aware that i can switch my utilities before combat, but i feel like that is in a perfect world. And so once combat begins, i feel locked into long cool down utilities, that a group may or may have a chance of using effectively. Meanwhile there charging in killing and rejoicing, having a grand old time. I feel there are few classes expected to give up so much, for the benefit of others. For me, and this is just my style, i would actually prefer to be a water ele, who is expected to drop water fields, because then i would feel like i’m part of the action. Not that i want to play an ele, i was just using an example of another class who is expected to run a certain set of abilities.
I know some of you are awesome, with portal. and veil. But i just don’t like them as much as my abilities. I enjoy my blink, and my decoy, etc etc. And normally i can ignore the “where are all the mesmers!”. But lately, i’m getting more and more tells and it’s turning me off to the class. It’s just less of a hassle to get on my engineer, and not have to worry about any of that nonsense.
Sorry if this is long, wanted to vent to my brethren.
Awesome feedback!
You’re not the first person to suggest Cleansing Conflagration as it does synergize well with the build. I actually ran that, with a pure zerkers build for a long time. The problem I ran into is, I just felt like the character was missing something
I reconfigured my gear adding condition damage. To give my Image at least a little bite. And it helped my scepter attacks dramatically. I also felt my aoe in tower fights and keep fights was very lacking. Sure I zerker hits hard. But it just wasn’t enough for me personally. Since my confusion damage was already bumped up some, I tried out Confusing enchantments. I feel this trait is greatly underused. Glamour Mesmers usually take two traits to apply one stack of confusion with there glamour’s, while I get the same result with one. Yes, I know they have to exit or enter the field. But the majority of players are not going to sit in a feedback bubble. They see it, and they get out of it.
As for Condition removal. I’ve fallen in love with Sigil of Generosity. With a decent crit rate and steady targets it seems to pull conditions off me faster then anything I’ve ever tried before. Even Cleansing Conflag. If I get into a tighter spot, I drop null field at my feet.
I don’t pretend to be some awesome player who never loses a 1v1. I chased a thief for 20 minutes yesterday only for him to turn around and beat the butterflies out of me. But I do win some, and I’ve beaten more then just 1 a couple times.
I really do appreciate your feedback. I do think your correct, I don’t stand to gain enough by switching. And I’ll stay the same for now
Hello fellow Mesmers,
This is the spec I’ve been running with pretty decent success.
What I’ve been thinking of doing is taking 30 points out of chaos and putting them into the Illusions tree. Giving my hybrid build a bit more condition damage. And taking Phantasmal Haste, Illusion Elasticity, and possibly confounding power.
What I would gain.
Faster phantasm recharge, and decoy recharge,
More condition damage
Faster attacking phantasms
More bounce on my bouncing attacks
What I lose
Permanent swiftness from Centaur runes
300 toughness
Prismatic Understanding which I love
Safe fall which I really enjoy.
Let me know what you all think? Would the plus’s out weigh the minuses?
Sometimes I really get bummed, having to take speedy kits. I know I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, since speedy kits have been awesome, forever. But I’m looking for other ways to maintain swiftness in WvW.
What your suggesting, is basically what the original build in this thread was. I ran that set up for a long time, with zerker stats. I constantly found myself switching between torch, and pistol in that scenario, since I liked the stealth of the prestige, but hated the lackluster phantasm. This new gear set up, has really given I-mage relevance in this build. I do not feel the need to switch to pistol anymore.
As for condition removal, I really am in love with the sigil of generosity. With the great sword multi hit,. and null field, I feel like I have enough. If I find it lacking I will fun the condition removal on heal food.
I always felt like I was missing something in tower and siege fights. This build gives me what I felt like I was lacking with confusing enchantments. The trait alone, gives me the benefit of two traits, I feel. The blind on glamour, and blind turns into confusion. Simply because most people do not sit in your null field or feedback.
As for my typical attack, it’s the same as it had been. But I feel like it has a lot more synergy. I open with I zerker almost always. He’s a hard hitter, and people usually burn a condition removal to get rid of the cripple, and bleed he applied (bleed hitting much harder now). After Izerker, I switch to scepter torch. Throw Image out (now improved!) And try channeling scepter 3. If they burned there condition removal, the confusion is definitely going to stack up, and add some decent damage. I try and throw in a block from scepter 2 for torment, then go back to greatsword and begin cycling through all my cool downs. I constantly monitor my confusion on the enemy. Throwing out my glamours and fighting inside of them. The enemies tend to run out of them. And I gain benefits from running within them.
That’s about it in a nutshell
I might have felt that way the first day of trying this. But honestly I feel like I do more now then I had before. Between using my glamour’s on cool down. And managing my scepter and torch cool downs, all the while dodging for a shatter when I can I stay plenty busy. And I’m finding it very effective. Also as an added bonus, my tormet is hitting a good deal harder then I expected it to. I hadn’t really thought of the torment when building this, but I’m working harder now to land those blocks then ever.
New build I’ve been running. A new take on my 20/20/30 I always run. Its been very affective and It has really made confusion something I value again. It also adds some depth to the Image. I also make heavy use of great sword with the sigil of generosity, if you haven’t tried this I recommend it.
Its a hard hitting power build. But with enough condition damage to make the synergy of the build mean something.
Has anyone ever tried anything like this? For straight PVE? 7k heal plus huge regen from the heal, and from staff, would make say a guardian incredibly survivable. Add in the protection from the well, and I think you really have something. The pets could be in place for additional dps, to draw agro if things go poorly. Maybe even add the res signet, for more group support? Maybe this has already been done and failed, just an idea I had.
Thanks! I’ve really been thinking of splitting up my runes that way! Instead of all ice. /the +5% damage to frozen seems nice, and all. And the vitality does help. But I don’t know if the 5% chance to get frozen on hit is all that worth it.
As for the retal, I just thought it was the best thing I could put in the adept spot.
I really appreciate your feedback!
Here is the build I’ve finally settled on, though I think I can still tinker with it some.
Bonuses
-Chill through dagger 4, plague form, staff 3,well of darkness. And any crit, or when an opponent hits 25% health.
- Access to 3 wells, which I ground target, all of which hit for damage. Which I think can crit causing chill?
-High hit point survivability.
-Great direct damage through main hand dagger.
-As decent a life drain style as I can get, which adds at least something to survivability.
-Retaliation on Death Shroud, since it’s my “oh no” button.
Concerns
-Speed when im wielding my staff. I’s a minor issue, since I’m mostly in daggers. But on the off chance I switch to staff not in a dagger or keep, I feel like I’m running in the mud.
-I know I could get more chilling with a different weapon set. But using dagger speed to me opens up a utility slot, for a well.
-Crit chance Is a little lower then I wish it was.
All in all I think this build has a ton of synergy as they say. My ground target wells hit for damage, heal me, and can apply decent condition, or change boons to conditions. Chill in plague form really adds something to the elite I feel. And really boosts up well of darkness making a very powerful tool.
Any thoughts on improvement? I most likely will not change from the dagger dagger speed, but I’m willing to listen to any other ideas
Hello Necros!
I had read on these forums, that chill duration runes, such as ice, were bugged and did not offer any bonus to + chill duration. Is this still the case? Also is it usually better to just go for + duration in general, over say +bleed duration or + chill duration?
Thanks to any help you can give.
It’s very good with Prismatic understanding. Also its not ground targeted. It affects more people. It can be done on the run. Also do thieves get two aoe stealth’s? I seem to think they only get refuge. I love MI, and I always keep it on my bar.
Good morning Engineers.
For quite awhile now I’ve been playing my Engineer in a healing bomb build. I found a great build several months ago, and I truly do love the bomb aspect of the gameplay. I feel tho with how I play, I may not be getting the most out of healing bombs.
I tend to WvW 80% of my time. Probably spending 60% of my time in large groups. When I’m with a commander I tend to push in with him, dropping bombs at my feet and causing a ton of havoc. I think it’s especially effective when I push past there lines and drop bombs that they tend to run into while back peddling. The thing is I’m not sure I’m getting any of the heals from my healing bombs, as I usually am constantly moving.
On the other side of it, the regenerator, while healing me for a lot less, will provide me with constant healing, without worrying about positioning.
I currently run
30/0/30/0/10
But if I went with the regenerator I would go
30/10/0/20/10
I also would lose a bit of power here, as my + power from healing score, and +power from toughness score, would be lost. But I gain a good bit of crit, and 200 range on my rifle.
Any thoughts. I’m almost sold on the regenerator but I haven’t been able to pull the trigger.
Good morning necro’s
I’ve just about gotten my necro to 80. My main that I play is a Mesmer. I play in WvW about 80% of my game time. And I run in primarily berserker gear with very few deaths. I wanted to give power necro a try. I really like the fact that rampager gear has that + to condition, since many of the necro attacks have a condition component. And I wouldn’t lose that damage in a power build. And I am used to surviving with very little armor. So i’ll post my buid (which may be terrible) and see if you guys can give me some advice on which armor set to use. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you
So you changed the spec, gear, weapons, sigils, runes and utilities :p I don’t know if I would call that a variant of his spec. Or just your own spec in his thread.
Added a new build. Shattered Mirror.
Being in zerker gear, and not taking Illusionary persona. I have very little reason to want to get anywhere near my enemies. Scepter hits hard in a power build. I thank 7 Mirrors for that bit of wisdom. It does a little less damage now, but it’s still very powerful. Both weapons have a block, which is nice. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not getting much from the torment from the block. But it’s not a small amount either. The same with the number 3 ability. It hits hard when channeled, and the confusion while not mind blowing is just one more thing they have to deal with. There usually bleeding and crippled from Izerker. With Torment, confusion, and me hitting them and disappearing. I think a large portion of the player base, when they get a lot of conditions on them, are going to blow there condition cleanses. That’s one more thing there doing, that isn’t hitting me. It’s a lot of pressure, and if you keep people on the defensive, from damage and CC and conditions right off the bat, they will play differently. And usually that means victory.
Thanks! I am really glad I’ve at least helped someone get past the phantasm changes I still at times find myself going Sceptre/Pistol instead of scepter torch. It all depends on how much condition removal and survivability I want on a given night. Or even in a given fight. By swapping out weapons. And moving CC to Greatsword mastery, your pretty set up to run pistol without losing anything.
I run bombs, and I use melandru food and -condition duration, in WvW. What I do is push in deep with the commander. If you can get through/behind the zerg, then glue bomb, and every bomb just becomes awesome. Instead of people running away from your bombs, they will run right to them.
What does your killing rotation look like in that first build? I’m so used to shatter or phantasm builds, I’m trying to wrap my head around a different style of play. With shatter I play and up in your face style of play, letting the shatters damage my opponent. Yet, with phantasms I work on getting 2-3 out, then try to survive while they go to town. I want to try a PU build, I’m just trying to figure out how the rotation works.
Solo I run into range, throw mirror blade. Summong I zerker. Then a lot depends on what my opponent does. At this point though I usually stealth with either prestige or decoy. Bring out Image or IDuelist. Pop out of stealth using scepter 3 which hits for great numbers still in my build. I really feel like any solo fight is kind of a cool down dance. And I just start rotating through mine, as they rotate through there’s If I have a lot of phantasms and clones out, and there health is high, I wont hesitate to shatter. Mind wrack still hits very hard, even if your not a shatter Mesmer.
I have heard a lot of people say “well that wont beat a good player” which is fine with me. I must run into every bad played in the game. Because if I died a lot, I wouldn’t have fun. And if I wasn’t having fun, I wouldn’t be playing. I’m definitely not as fast as a lot of the players out there. But my character hits very hard, and I hide a lot.
I think Mesmer is one of the most forgiving classes for Beserker gear in WvW. With all the clones, and phantasms, the stealth and the invulnerability, you have a hidden survivability that numbers just can’t measure.
Sorry
Usually I’m only dealing with two or three conditions on me at once. In the scenario I was referencing. Of course against someone stacking conditions on just me, I would not be able to drop them all. And I apologize for not being clear in my description.
I think that interrupts, as part of a stun lock build would be a nice addition. Also has anyone tried to incorporate chilling into a interrupt build, to extend cast time, to open the window up a little higher for the interrupt? I don’t know that interrupts can stand on there own, but they may have become an awesome supplement with some testing and work.
Did Warriors finally get something?
You misspelled your own name in the topic?
Unfortunately, even though I thought I would get in, in time to get the name Jester, for my character. It was gone as soon as I got into the first few minutes of GW2. I think some people were able to keep there names from Gw1. So I chose Jestir, a name I had used as a variation in several other MMO’s. I don’t usually refer to myself in game from my Anet account name. But as my character name.
You already know what I think about it!
This is the new reflect build I’ve been working on. Its based on reflects and shattering. It’s more or a zerg vs zerg build then anything else, but your shatters do hit decently, with your high power, and they recharge quickly. The more important part of this build is all the reflects. You have 5 extremely reliable reflects in this build. And the tankiness to surf the zerg and send your opponents damage back at them. Or sit back from a distance and let your curtain do the work for you.
I Chose Centaur runes, but honestly any runes could do in this build. With the Focus trait, and the amount in chaos you have a large swiftness up time. So you can keep the centaur in or leave it.
Since everyone names builds, I’ll call this one my shattered mirror
(edited by Jester.1236)
Hello Mesmers
I’ve been playing Mesmer since the game began, and I’ve gone through quite a few builds, and in the past I have posted them on the forums. I also have been thinking of a few new builds, and I thought I would make a post with some of my past builds. The build I’m running now. And post the ones I’ve been tossing around in my head. So to begin with the build I’m running now.
Build Type: Power Based
Use : WvW and PvE
Weapons: Great Sword/ Scepter and Torch
Armor: Berserkers with Ascended Celestial jewelry
Utilities: Decoy, Feedback, Radiation Field or Null Feild
Domination 20 (3/9)
Dueling 20 (5/10)
Chaos 30 (2/7/12)
With this build I feel like I have a ton of survivability. Even in Berserkers gear. PU with cleansing conflagration is just a fantastic combo for World V World. When stunned I decoy, gaining protection, regen, and cleansing all my conditions while breaking the stun. My Great Sword hits very hard. And I have little trouble killing players in the field, whether I’m solo roaming, or running with a zerg. There are times when I will switch things up, swapping torch with pistol, and cleansing conflag with great sword mastery. But for the most part this is the build I’ve been loving the most.
I fell in love with the pistol off hand recently, and wish I could go Scepter/Pistol, Scepter/Torch. Unfortunately the Great Sword, for me, is just to hard to give up.
Previous Build
Build Type: Mantra Power
Use WvW and PvE
Weapons: Great Sword/ Sword, Torch
Armor: Berserkers with Celestial Ascended jewelry
Utilities: Mantra of Pain, Mantra of Resolve, Mantra of Distraction
Dom 20 (3,10)
Dueling 30 (2,10,11)
Chaos 10 (2)
Illusions 10 (3)
This build really took advantage of the +4% damage with every mantra charged. I would run at times anywhere from +12% to +16% damage from my mantras. Add in the +3% for each active illusion, and you end up hitting extremely hard. Hitting hard initially will usually force an opponent into a more defensive play style. Time your mantra’s right. And Spike them down when the time is right.
I ran this build or some version of it, for a long time. And I had a lot of help from Fay when it came to advice on Mantras. I also dabbled in confusion glamour’s for a bit, but I just found the power play to be more my style.

————————-
This is a build or two I have been bouncing around in my head. I will probably add to this section as time goes on.
Build Type : Power Interrupt
Use: WvW not sure about PVE
Weapons: Sword/Pistol, Scepter/Focus
Armor: Berserkers (Though it seems like condition might be possible in this build)
Utilities: Signet of Domination, Mantra of Distraction, Technobabble, Moa
Dom 30 (2,6,12)
Dueling 20 (2/10)
Inspiration 20 (4,8)
I’ve been thinking, that while working within a stun lock build, halting strikes would really shine. Your main objective would be to lock down your opponent with stuns as often as possible. And when not stun using your reflect abilities to keep there damage at bay. The interrupts and damage from them, would be a secondary bonus. I also have been tossing around the idea of using the hydromancy sigils. To create chill on weapon swap. Slowing down cast times, allows for more interrupts. This is a build in progress, and I will update it as I go.

Huge prot/retal/swift/regen stacks?
Bountiful Theft : Stealing removes 2 boons from your target and grants them to nearby allies.
Larcenous Strike: Stab your foe and steal up to two boons from them.No thanks.
So now boons are bad to?
I run with the zerg, and solo a lot. I ran last night for a few hours, and I noticed very little negative differences, and quite a few positives. I didn’t log in looking for problems, I logged in and just played the way I always have. If you log in like..
“This patch stinks, everything stinks, let me log on my Mesmer and see how much he stinks”
Then really its not surprise you will be let down.
