Ranger Damage?

in Ranger

Posted by: Jestunhi.7429

Jestunhi.7429

You can’t treat it as a single skill, you have to consider the amount of damage you could have done with other skills during the time that the channel takes.

That’s what you compare the 17,460 with.

:edit:

Plus the “single skill” was actually 3: rampage as one, QZ and rapid fire.

If fighting alongside someone outside of a group isn’t social interaction then nor is fighting alongside someone in a group.

There is no difference except his health is now on the left of your screen.

Unless you party with this random and / or you talk, otherwise it is very different. In a guild you ll party with the same people, you get to know them, you speak to them on TS. Thats social interaction, making jokes, becoming friends. Otherwise why not play a solo game, very often the graphics is much better and the story more intense.

i agree about what you are saying until you said solo games have better graphics i have yet to see a solo game have better graphics then an MMO

Seriously?

MMO’s are designed to be run on almost any system. Compare them to something like Far Cry 3 and see the difference.

Cultural Armors prices

Yeah, these “bonuses” are the actual stats on the armor itself. Giving the armor bonus stats for wearing all 6 pieces doesn’t make sense, since then players that have the armor set would get an unfair advantage.

Firstly, how long does it take to fix this bloody forum? MAKE THE QUOTE BUTTON DISPLAY ALL THE TIME!

Secondly, it’s no more of an unfair advantage than exotic having better stats than rare.

:edit:

After posting the quote buttons appeared, so proper quote added.

Their connection to the rest of the world is awful so they insist a server has to be placed in Australia itself. How many other countries in the world do that? The only one I can think of is the US, but to be fair they are an entire continent with a significantly higher potential playerbase.

I find it amusing that you call the US “an entire continent” when in fact it is not. Australia, on the other hand, is an entire continent.

Other than semantics, was my post actually incorrect?

Almost every MMO I have played the Aussies insist they need their own server and anyone else in that area of the world wants it anywhere but Australia due to ping issues. The tend to get a lower ping from US servers.

Ranger – Keeps their distance from people

Because rangers always use bows right?

I picked ranger because I picked elementalist first and it was fun for a while but the class is simply not viable. When I rerolled, the community didn’t know yet that warriors are the best class so I went with the safe pet class bet. Can’t be bothered to reroll warrior now.

FYI you’re more likely to have fun playing the class you like, not chasing the FotM class.

Don’t forget about Australians, they’re in your time zone as well. :P I suspect though the lack of a server physically located in that area of the world is a cost issue.

Aussies are always a problem.

Their connection to the rest of the world is awful so they insist a server has to be placed in Australia itself. How many other countries in the world do that? The only one I can think of is the US, but to be fair they are an entire continent with a significantly higher potential playerbase.

And as a result the server placed in Australia is pretty much useless for anyone else in the Oceanic / Pacific Rim area. To the point where most gamers that I know in that area will play on US servers instead of Australia-based servers.

Dumb people? Ie, people who play massively multi player games to solo aren’t that bright. There are tons of single player games out there.

How bright are the people who need an outdated concept like “grouping” when they already have all the positives of a group without needing to actually join one?

“…what ANet is trying to do…”
“…the vision…”
“…doesn’t fit into GW2 lore…”
“…go back to WoW…”

Listen, everything taken into account, I believe we can all agree that not everything is going according to the “master plan”. GW2 is not revolutionary, is not moving the genre forward (it is in fact degrading MMORPG genre into a casual soup), and has not impressed the world. ANet might as well admit they made a mistake, and actually make something awesome of this game.

ANet philosophy, just as everything else, is prone to change. The market dictates what is in demand, not the manufacturers. Their job is to hit the golden vein and get as many people interested. If “their vision” has failed to impress, maybe it’s time for a new vision?

The vocal minority are not the majority.

They are just the loudest.

How many people have actually posted asking for a specific change compared to those who have either supported the existing system or simply not taken part in the discussion?

Everyone likes to believe that they are in the majority… but it’s not necessarily true.

Allowing people to look around corners with an increased FoV is a gameplay advantage.

You can see names through walls… What advantage could looking around corners possibly give?

Yeah… just look at the amount of names which are visible through the pillar!

Outright fix to the RMX Gold Market

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lets see…

800 gems for £8.50, 100 gems = 29 silver. £8.50 = 2g 32s

5gold is £3.84 on a random site that I just found via google.

So, once again, you’d need a stupidly high tax to price gold sellers out of the market.

If the 800 for £8.50 is wrong someone please correct me, did that part from memory.

nm, checked ingame. 800 gems for £8.50 is correct.

That’s probably the driving point behind the whole idea. Make it more costly for the Gold sellers to do business in the first place.

It would make it more costly for the customer.

You think the gold seller is going to take a 15% profit loss rather than passing it on?

You would need a stupidly high tax rate to have it be as expensive as the gem – gold exchange rate…

Yeah, that’s why I added in my edit as the first part of my post pretty much mirrored yours.

But, if all it does is mean they raise their prices by 15% to cover the additional tax, what will have been accomplished?

Outright fix to the RMX Gold Market

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jestunhi.7429

Jestunhi.7429

Hinders them a bit. Since you’d have to look fairly hard to find items not listed on the TP that are in abundance. Ready enough anyway to sell. If they went the route of providing the item to the player to repost, then either that person is losing 15% of what they just paid for, or the sellers are eating an additional 15% cost. You’d also have to have the money in the first place to place the sell order, which may be prohibitive for the buyers.

Then the gold sellers just need to get some of the item and mail one to the customer, telling the customer to then sell it back to them for 100g.

It means the gold sellers lose out on tax, but it won’t stop them or cause them any real problems.

:edit:

All it would likely do is change how much gold you get per dollar.

@Jestunhi, sure let’s argue semantics. That’s clearly going to help.

You cannot buy karma gear, cultural gear, any dungeon gear through the TP. Are we actually arguing over the concept here that gw2 is or isn’t pay2win?

Stop making excuses and go earn some gold like the rest of us do.

I’m sorry, I thought you were replying to this: “You can buy approximately/almost/just about/pretty much/all items in the entire game from the Trading Post.”

That is discussing the proportion of the ingame items which can be sold on the TP. Note “the entire game”, not “just end-game”.

So that’s what I was talking about too. What exactly are you talking about if not the content of the post which you quoted?

Not to mention that nothing in my post fits any definition of an excuse and I have yet to complain about the speed of earning gold… so you have managed another reply that makes no sense given the rest of the discussion.

I think lejean was referring to the people that figured out you had a 1/3 chance to get a dusk/dawn from mystic forge and made a kitten load of them. And since the chance is now like less than 10% I’d say it is some form of exploit.

I’d say that if they continued doing it after being officially told that it’s bugged it would be an exploit.

But do you know how many times you would have to use the forge to get an accurate breakdown of the % chance to get a Dusk?

You can’t just do a couple of tries and figure out the percentage. If I tossed a coin twice and it came up heads each time that wouldn’t mean that there’s some problem with the coin and that it has a 100% chance to land on heads. It means I’ve done a stupidly small test and gathered no meaningful data. Which in turn means I cannot draw any conclusions from it.

Never underestimate anti-social trolls, even in this game. Shared EXP is great as it minimizes KSing, but some abilities are used for trolling purposes like hunter knockbacks, which funnily only seem to be used when others are around. Not saying all who uses these kinds of skills are trolls, but the context in which they’re used makes me a bit suspicious. Scattering mobs is also less efficient during DEs as the closer mobs are to eachother the more damage you’ll get per skill overall as you’re hitting more mobs with caltrops, meteor storm, etc., depending on your class. If that’s the intent then the joke is on them because I usually do enough damage to get kill credit and sometimes even loot anyway

“But they’d likely have to be made massively-longer if that was done anyway or you’d end up with something similar to PSU or PSO2 where the content is all in such short, insular bursts that rooms don’t have proper time to get into full swing.”

I’m looking forward to Phantasy Star 2 coming out even though it’s probably going to be pay to win since it has the best character customization I’ve seen and I love the anime graphics and they remind me of Star Ocean somewhat =) The series is even older than WoW dating as far back as the Dreamcast!

Given that the chances of getting loot depend on the damage that you dealt it’s entirely viable for someone who does mostly single target damage to split up a group of mobs so he has more chance of getting credit for each of them.

That’s the way the system was designed, and grouping doesn’t change that one bit (you still have to hit each mob even if you are in a team full of AoE users).

Still, it beats APB: Reloaded’s “NOOB HACKER U BAN” continuously…

Then you’re in a bad guild.

The one I’m in on Desolation has people in it and chatting even now (early afternoon on a weekday when most people are likely at work / school / college / whatever).

Umm why would any races wanna be fighting each other…

Aside from humans and charr…

It could be done like in WvWvW? Server vs server?

This would mean all the pveing chars on 3 servers all being in the same worldmap.

Potentially tripling the server load (while leaving 2 empty).

And I still don’t see the point. If you want large-scale open PvP then go to WvW.

Does Personality Have A Factor In Profession Choice?

Nope.

I play whichever has the right sort of gameplay.

I started with Guardian but it got boring, so I’m now playing my ranger.

Given that “supportive” and “keeps their distance from people” don’t exactly go hand in hand, I don’t think my personality was involved.
