in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!
Fortunately, you can choose to pay a lot for it if you think it’s high value.
Get buying those keys!
And I, as someone who does not buy it, will not be at a disadvantage during any part of the game except how easy it is to get items from the TP. And I’m sure I can live with that.
I buy armour & weapons for copper and sell for silver.
When it comes to armour, chest / gloves / boots are both what I get sold quickest and what I sell quickest.
Although shoulders are not catching up.
Helms of the level which I’m flipping are not worthwhile with only a few copper gained per flip. I get 1-2s per flip on the other armour / weapons which I’m flipping.
Currently I have to right click each item in my inv and click “buy more on TP” to view this information.
It would certainly be better if it were available without having to delve into detail on the item.
Which means that points spent in BM, as well as traits like Master’s Bond will directly increase the pet’s ability to tank as they increase toughness.
And I suspect toughness isn’t the only factor, so I expect increased stats and other traits will further increase it’s tankiness.
Anything with an induction or channel needs to maintain LoS (or should do, if any don’t then chances are those abilities are bugged).
FYI the metro interface is optional.
I see it take a lot of flack, but previous versions of Windows were in no way touchscreen optimised and since it’s optional I see no problem with it.
The more threads you create about it the harder they work on them!
Or not…
Is there any reason to upgrade to Windows 8 (assuming I’m not using some multimedia touchscreen monitor and therefore don’t care about Metro)?
I’m joining the Microsoft Developer Network soon and will get unlimited access to almost their entire catalog of current & historic software. But so far I can’t see why I would want to upgrade, even when I can do so, legally, for free!
Do we?
When was this decided? I don’t and I’d like to register a complaint with whoever decided on my behalf.
Maybe they should sell keys that expire instead of one time use. For example, you buy a key for $10 that lasts 30 days with unlimited uses.
heh, can you imagine the surge in TP sales & the price of chests if that were announced?
It’s worth pointing out that someone who posted an item before you does not have the right to define the price forever more.
No one is in any way required to stick to the existing price for an item, and nor should they be. That’s what NPC vendors are for.
Being valuable and offering convenience are not mutually exclusive conditions.
It’s not one or the other.
And it’s not a single value to all, it would clearly be more important to some than to others.
Cosmetics aren’t even convenience, they offer no advantage whatsoever. But they are valuable and important to many people.
Plus, once guesting is added you can play on any server anyway.
And we have free server transfers in the meantime.
I have yet to see a single argument why the current situation is better. Just bunch of people repeating:
“it’s optional”: Everything is optional, with this reasoning they should add more sharks to spvp.
“it’s a pvp game”: Yeah, right.
“don’t make it easy”: If your definition of difficulty is “wait possibly-long-unknown time/change server, wait bit more on queues, do something unproductive on team-based scenario” then you really shouldn’t be talking about game design.
“lol, you need whole world”: Dungeons aren’t included, oh right, they aren’t part of your “world”.
So we have to justify the devs making the game as they envision and you are justified demanding changes for no reason whatsoever?
Hint: Shortbow has the highest dps across all ranger weapons. Low dps? You must be playing a different game than all of us.
Consequences? There are no consequences using a shortbow over a melee weapon for rangers. Except maybe for skill 2, but you can simply go into melee for a second or two, the Quick Shot to reposition instantly.
Highest dps available to a class does not mean the same thing as high dps.
It’s a shame that there’s so much talk of consequences yet no one will accept them when they make a decision.
Illgot – could that be because they want you to buy gems?
Guess what? Just because there is no sub cost doesn’t mean that the servers don’t require electricity, bandwidth, maintenance, updates, hosting, etc. It doesn’t mean the developers & support staff don’t need to be paid.
They have ongoing costs, they want to encourage us to buy gems.
And if they are doing it in a way which is selling convenience instead of power, then they have my full support.

Endgame just after an MMO release is a whole different matter to leveling content.
People who rush through MMOs have the exact same complaint every time.
And then they go and burn through another MMO and getting bored within days.
:Edit:
You’d think they’d learn their lesson, eh?
Oh dear lord.
“Killing the game”?
Everything that people complain about now will apparently kill the game if left unchecked…
Why are you facerolling content that’s too easy instead of going to a different map in the appropriate level bracket?
I’m fine manning up and dealing with the consequences of choosing two weapons with 130 Range, as long as those who choose weapons with 600-1200 range also have consquences to deal with.
Get it? Or still in denial?
OK, let’s look at my ranger.
Here’s the consequences for SB & LB
SB – 4 situational control attacks with lower damage than #1 and an auto attack, low dps.
LB – auto attack has lower damage at close range, 2 situational control abilities with lower damage than #1 and 2 channels – single target & AoE.
Melee options on the other hand would give a much greater variety, which is why I use 1 ranged and 1 melee.
One thing which could be considered is interrupts vs ranged channels. However as soon as you go down that road you risk the opposite – ranged players standing no chance as soon as a melee character uses a gap closer.
:edit:
To confirm, #2 SB skill is actually better damage than #1 if no condition removal and point blank range (spread of arrows – all need to hit to do good damage)
Still no mention of how it would be an improvement…
Then you’re just blind?
IE: You aren’t willing to see “how” it can work and would rather just down play it.Which is fine ~ but until you open your eyes, you may want to avoid topics like this.
~ Just my 2 cents ~
Explaining how something works is not explaining how it would be an improvement to implement it.
For the love of god, TELL ME WHY IT SHOULD BE DONE, NOT WHAT IT IS.
A few more posts, still the only people to mention the amount of points in BM are the ones who are able to pet tank…
Still no mention of how it would be an improvement…
Ugh… Jestunhi, I’m not saying ranged professions are OP…
All professions can use ranged indeed.I’m saying that it’s unfair that there’s nothing wrong with using 2 ranged sets, but there’s something wrong with using 2 melee sets.
Do you understand this simple explanation? Because it can’t get any simpler. It’s fine for me that it’s useful to have 2 ranged weapons.
It’s fine for me that it’s useful to have 1 ranged + 1 melee weapon.
It’s not fine for me that it’s not useful to have 2 melee weapons.Play what you like. Remember?
I like ranged on some professions. I like melee on others. I like a mix on others.
Let me play what I like without feeling penalized.
I want to play blindfolded. Should I be able to play with a blindfold without being penalized?
You can come up with whatever excuse you like, the fact is that if you choose weapons limited to 150 range then your attacks are limited to 150 range. No one forced you to, you made that decision.
Man up.
Say "[&AgE5VAAA] " ingame then preview the item which is displayed in chat.
:)
Why would they not want the information? o.O
Ignore the conspiracy theories that state they don’t care (why would anyone not care when someone messes with their income?). Ignore those who state that if they don;t announce every action they take that they are not taking any action.
If you see a bot, an exploiter, a bug, REPORT IT. The fact that it’s not instantly fixed does not mean that no one cares.
I swear, the same people play melee classes in every game and spend all their time on whichever game they currently play’s forums complaining that the ranged folk are sooooo OP.
:edit:
Did you ever stop to think that it is your fault that your character has 2 melee weapon sets equipped?
Name a single class with no ranged weapons to choose from!
Accept the consequences of your decisions. If you want ranged then equip ranged in at least one of your slots.
Random is random
There is no such thing as “random”.
Computers aren’t able to do a true random generator.
Does that mean the millions of threads on RNG will stop being posted in every MMO forum?
Wishful thinking, I know…
Who said the game didn’t have to change?
Not wanting artificial gating is the not same as not wanting new content or changes to existing systems / content, nor is it the same as not wanting challenging mechanics.
Think you missed the point..
IE: Your point of view is that “gates are bad” ~ thus you cannot see how to utilize them without making the game a grind.Based on that stance alone ~ YES, you are saying you don’t want GW2 to change.
I think you missed the point…
Not liking a specific change != not liking change.
Instead of telling me I’m wrong, how about you explain why it would be an improvement?
Who said the game didn’t have to change?
Not wanting artificial gating is the not same as not wanting new content or changes to existing systems / content, nor is it the same as not wanting challenging mechanics.
Boosting the damage output of your character and keeping the worst possible pet – you are bound to have aggro problems.
Think it through people…
it doesnt rly matter if have points in BM or not its about how the pet acts and theres soemthing weird after the last patch
Unless you have an official source, this is nothing more than hearsay.
:edit:
Since asking how many points people have had 2 people have responded.
Both are at least 20 points deep and neither have problems getting their pets to tank.
I’m not surprised.
(edited by Jestunhi.7429)
You want artificial gating, preventing you from accessing content A until you’ve done content B? Interesting.
essentially yes, I want that feeling of progression and working towards something rather than having it all handed to you on a plate.
Having to do everything in a linear “content A then content B” is not the opposite of being given everything on a plate.
It’s the opposite of being able to choose which content you want to participate in instead of having to go through a chain of previous content to access that specific bit.
It’s not a case of one way being hard and the other way giving you free rewards unless that’s the developers intention. Fighting a harder boss with better gear isn’t necessarily harder because the better gear nullifies part of the advantage that the harder boss has.
Poorly chosen words Eva, since the whole point in an exploit is that players are exploiting something that is in the game (e.g. an unintended feature or bug) for personal gain.
I agree that in this case I wouldn’t see it as an exploit, but that’s because there is nothing to gain. A similar situation of accessing a different level in the Z axis in a PvP enabled zone could have serious advantages.
Why are you getting so mad?
Unless you think that across all servers there is only 1 person willing to buy it, what’s the big deal? Player number 2 will buy the one which was undercut instead of player number 1.
Now if someone had come in with a big stack of items and undercut significantly I may understand…
:edit:
By my math it’s also cheap enough to buy and relist for 35g and make a profit?
29g 50s 50c / 0.85 = 34g 71s 18c breakeven sell price (rounded to the nearest copper)
(edited by Jestunhi.7429)
Amnon just stop. You and others like you are the reason crap like this exists in the game. Become some elitist players can’t handle the fact that others can accomplish the same things that they have and therfor they must work to make EVERYTHING so hard that only the top 1% of players can accomplish anything of any importance whatsoever.
NEWSFLASH, this is a GAME. Games are meant to be entertaining and fun. In order for them to continue to be entertaining and fun, people must be rewarded so that they have a reason to continue to play and spend money, otherwise it’s repetitive and becomes a JOB. I do not intend to make it a job. I do not want to spend my entire evening pounding down a castle wall so I can get inside and get the one POI and be miserable whilst I do it. This is not fun to some people. Does that mean that we shouldn’t be allowed to accomplish in game milestones? Are we inferior players or intellectual dwarfs because we actually would prefer to do something fun instead of something not fun?
What exactly is so WRONG with having a separate PvE and PvP world? I didn’t hear a SINGLE person complain about how the two were not interconnected in GW1, but now it as if the sky is falling at every suggestion they be separated.
I remember in GW1 I had great respect for people wearing their Gladiator titles or popping their dragon emotes because I could never accomplish that, and I had PvP’rs tell me they thought the fact that I had 100% explored and vanquished was cool because they could never sit and do that because it was boring to them. Now we have PvP’rs telling us were terrible because we can’t accomplish their crap and our crap. This is WAAAAY better.
P.S. To h*#l with Legendaries. I just want 100% completion for completing 100% of TYRIA. PvPers can keep the MISTS and the elitist players with to much time and money can have and keep their stupid red weapons.
Then don’t do it. Who’s forcing you to?
PLAY FOR FUN! Do the things which you enjoy (if the thing that you enjoy is “achieving everything in the game while only playing part of it” then I don’t know what to tell you, except that you could use a more realistic goal).
And if you no longer enjoy the game and believe that your only goal is to get 100% map completion (which some people in this thread seem to be implying) then what will you do if ANet actually fulfills your request? Quit because there is no longer a goal?
That would be a really good move on their part, wouldn’t it?
AFAIK the TP was never designed to sell everything on, otherwise vendors wouldn’t have a sell tab.
You sell items on the TP when it’s more profitable than selling them to vendors. Simple.
And, as others have said, buy orders combined with sell orders let you flip items for profit.
People think that whatever their pet peeve is (be it bots, people undercutting for 1 copper, or anything else) causes a lot more than it does.
If every single bot were removed, and all their buy / sell orders invalidated, I think it would have less of an effect on the average buy / sell price of items than you imagine.
Coincidence.
15 char min post length…
Keys should be bought to support the game, that makes sense.
What does not make sense is the price of the keys. They are not worth it, so people are not buying them, so we have a huge supply of chests which are sold for a few copper on the TP and no demand to cause people to buy the chests or the keys.
I’d be interested to see the figures behind the cash shop look – to see what sold well and what didn’t (after the first couple of weeks of uninformed buying).
Agree with all of this.
We don’t spam 1 because it’s OP, we spam it because all our other abilities are situational control abilities, not damage dealing abilities.
How many people saying “pets won’t tank” actually have a decent amount of trait points invested in Beast Mastery?
Resources move places after a patch…
After any kind of server downtime I believe.
What do you win by having access to the TP without a few seconds of waypointing?
not having to leave the dungeon/story to pick up an item you just bought.
Convenience then, no actual advantage other than saving a little time. Not harder, better, stronger or faster?
So in your mind no one plays a game to have fun or enjoy themselves?
It’s to get an item so that they can then quit the game because there’s no longer a goal.
Still, the fact remains that it’s your decision to only play part of the game which is limiting what you are able to achieve.
:edit:
I can imagine them when they first heard about GW2.
“Did you hear, they are including multiple levels of rarity! We need to buy the game quick so we can get an item in the rarest category!”
Methods?
Buy low, sell high. Simple.
All you need to do is take the price which you buy the item for and divide it by 0.85. This will give you the amount that you need to sell it for to break even. Sell it for more than that and you make a profit.
If you think that people are going to tell you the items that they buy so they are in direct competition with you, don’t hold your breath.
I have no dificulty doing PvP.
Again as mention in my first post. I am rather good at it.
I just no longer wish to do it. It not fun.
You choose not to do it, you should accept the consequences of your decision.
That’s what adults do.
The fact is that you are not forced to get a legendary weapons or 100% map completion, and you are not unable to do so while disliking WvW. You choose to want one and you refuse to do WvW – both your decisions.

This thread is outdated and no longer accurate.
It now operates a FIFO system correctly with no priority given to small orders.
Yes indeed.
I’m willing to buy gems and support the game, but there’s just nothing that I want on there at the moment.
@ John Smith
Is there anything that would actually verify this to the rest of us, who are perhaps becoming skeptical of some of A.Net’s claims?
If you don’t believe that post what would you believe?
An image could be faked, as could a video. A “player” forum account could secretly be a dev.
If you insist on not believing then no amount of proof will change your mind.
The Permanent Bank Access Express item seems really unfair—it gives people who buy huge numbers of Black Lion Keys a huge storage advantage over the rest of the players. Pay-to-win, plain and simple.
What do you win by having access to the TP without a few seconds of waypointing?
Does it make you stronger in PvE or PvP? The only way it could is if it listed items not accessible in the normal TP which have advantages over the ones other people can access.
I’m not seeing the pay 2 win aspect, it’s a convenience item.
(edited by Jestunhi.7429)
Buying in bulk is bots only? No, it’s what traders do.
Why buy low and sell high with a single item when you can do it with many?
I’d rather they didn’t punish traders for trading, they already take 15% of the sale value as a cash sink!
