in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!
Also keep in mind that as they are bought purely for the looks, there’s no advantage in getting the whole set unless you want them.
Personally I use the human t3 medium chest & legs but have no intention of buying the other pieces.
If it’s only “immersion breaking” because you open a map and click on where you want to go then simply don’t do it anymore.
You are in full control of when you do that. If that’s your reason then there’s certainly no need to take away the functionality for everyone because you would rather walk.
Unless someone has a reason why it’s immersion breaking for people (i.e. players in general) to use waypoints I still don’t see immersion breaking as a valid reason for changing anything.
You don’t need ANet to remove an entire feature because you personally don;t want to use it, they are not forcing you to use it.
Fine as it is.
If you don’t think it’s worth the price then don’t buy it. It’s in no way a requirement and won’t give you any stat boost compared to other armour of the same level / rarity.
Many of these were posted very early, before things like tax were displayed on the TP window and when there was no minimum limit on the price you could set on a buy / sell order.
This is my current look, I’m still unsure on those boots & gloves though and may change them if I find something better looking.

Forced grouping blows.
I’m glad it’s not here. Instead we have a system where buffs affect an area instead of a group and 3 people who are not grouped can all attack the same mob and all get loot.
We have all the advantages of teaming (outside of personal quests) without actually needing to group.
Once you get high enough to farm the Kol chain you can do that until you are high enough to farm @ Astrozintli Forelands in Sparkfly Fen (doing the dragon every few hours too).
I have a WvW gearset and a PvE gearset.
With the current system I am only able to use the t3 cultural set on one of them unless I buy them again.
I support anything which changes this!
5% listing fee paid immediately.
10% tax paid upon successful sale.
Macroing and using an autocast feature provided by the game are 2 very different things.
If you want to be given goals then open the achievement tab and see what you have yet to achieve.
But realistically, you should be doing what you enjoy doing. Be that WvW, sPvP, dungeons, socialising, RPing, or any of the many different reasons people play may want to play for.
The whole stick of butter trick doesn’t work because they would have to buy every stick of butter between that one and the one the guy has.
You would have to find some junk item nobody is listing.
When did the market interface change? Last time I was in game I could put a check mark by the offer I wanted to accept on the TP.
And all the lower priced ones also remain ticked?
:edit: you can only purchase the lowest priced one.
Ticking a higher price means you will buy all of the ones priced lower than that too
Watch what happens to the “How many do you need” field when you click a different check box.
i was going after that armor for my ALT wich i think it looks kitten+sexy+skimpy wich are mostly the features i look for my female alts but suddenly when i previewed breastplate armor its now covered.
go ahead and look for yourself, perhaps theres something wrong with me, or not.
look for Arah dugeon armor in this pic, then preview it from vendor.
Where did you get that picture from, i’d like to see a similar one for light and medium too
All 3 are linked here:
I don’t remember where I copied them from, but here:

MMO’s do not need a grind for gear to give better stats to decide the outcome of a fight in place of skill.
GW2 lets the new lvl 80 with his cheap exotics and the “vet” players with their legendary weapons compete on an even playing field, where what you do matters not how long you have played.
This is a good thing.
Soooo many generic trenchcoats in medium. My female ranger uses t3 human cultural chest & legs along with the hood given to new thief chars.
Just trying to find boots, gloves & shoulders that go well with them now.
It’s been discussed dozens of times now.
Model != hitbox.
A few minutes testing with 2 characters of different races will confirm this.
Perhaps it would be simpler to just add a volume slider for voices?
Those annoyed by them can turn them down.
You realise that bots attacking a mob doesn’t mean that you can’t get loot from it?
Following a bot train can in fact be very profitable.
Are you expecting ANet to come in here and saying “using the same ability multiple times in a row is not allowed”?
Because… it won’t happen. That’s what a fair amount of class / weapon combos encourage.
It’s especially bad right after launch. Expecting infinite content is stupid enough, but at launch there’s always going to be a smaller amount of end-game content than in whichever MMO you left (unless you left another one which had just launched).
If everyone specs support, who will be dealing actual, meaningful damage?
Clearly damage dealers are needed, not everyone should be supporting.
Personally I stack DPS stats and use combo fields as my primary form of support (ranger traps)
For a game that places such a high value on it’s world-building and visual aesthetic I find waypoints to be counterproductive.
It makes the world feel like a series disconnected zones rather than….a world. Loading screens etc. do their own part at contributing to that factor.
It makes me sad to imagine just how much better the game would be without all the waypoints and loadscreen…if we just had 1 seamlessly explorable world rather than a collection of zones.
For a game with a downleveling system allowing you to be able to play all over the entire game world regardless of whether the content is your level (except content higher than you :P), I find limiting people to walking to be counterproductive.
Zone size (or zones vs seamless) is a completely unrelated issue and one which is far more technical.
GW1 was 90% instanced, how would you know whether there were bots?
Just about every MMO has bots, and on every single one people whine that the developers don’t care because they don’t instantly ban everyone who is accused of botting.
No one cares about people who don’t like that style of armour because they can simple USE ANOTHER STYLE.
Unless you are trying to dictate what other people are allowed to wear in the game simply because you play it too, we don’t need to be told.
Don’t push your beliefs into others. Other players might feel the opposite way you feel.
Is he pushing his beliefs onto us, though? I think you’re overreacting a little.
There are lines like this one: “I know what you’ll say now; just don’t use them, but the thing is; other people use them.”
If not using them is unacceptable because other people will still be using them, yes… he is trying to force his own preference on the rest of us.
Which rule is broken by using an ability multiple times?
And if no rules are broken, how do you justify asking for punishment?
MY simple rule? If I’m going to be spending “hours/days/weeks” standing around in LA (e.g. flipping items on the TP) then I’ll likely kill the sound.
No sound made in town will help in flip items in any way.
Balance > Lore.
While I’m not claiming it’s currently perfectly balanced, you do not make decisions about changes which would affect balance because it makes sense in the lore.
Is there an actual reason why Rangers should get a gun, something more than “I want one”?
Any kind of bans or suspensions without ANet investigating the accusations would be bad IMO.
Is anything bought with karma tradable?
Anyone reads this post and disagrees should not be playing MMOs.
It was bad enough, but then I get to this part.
It actually made me laugh out loud, complaining about the community and then stating that anyone who disagrees with you shouldn’t be playing.
Classic.
This isn’t “the ranged class”.
Rangers are not exclusively ranged, nor necessarily the best at range, according to most usages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranger_
My ranger’s getting there.
Still on the lookout for a decent set of gloves, boots and shoulders.
Not interested in the whole T3 cultural set, want to make my own style.
The TP is an external web-based database.
Most issues with people accessing it seem to be caused by firewalls / routers / proxies.
Guess what? Servers aren;t free to run, and developers and support staff don’t work for free.
Of course ANet want you to buy gems. But nothing that requires gems gives a stat boost over not having it and gems can be purchased with gold too so this is one of the mildest cash shops I have ever seen.
Can everyone please stop equating a cash shop with pay2win.
They are 2 different things, nothing in GW2’s cash shop gives any form of stat boost and does not affect the outcome of a fight.
The whole stick of butter trick doesn’t work because they would have to buy every stick of butter between that one and the one the guy has.
You would have to find some junk item nobody is listing.
Or they could just say “join my guild, 100g is in the guild bank ready for you to take”
Want them and therefore should be given them?
Entitlement has seeped soooo far into MMO culture these days.
The money paid into the RMT store pays for the servers, developers, support staff, etc.
No, you should not feel bad for providing ongoing financial support to the game.
I don’t think it will happen.
Unless they find a way to make the game figure out when you want to turn your view instead of moving your cursor.
The only difference would be the mouselook button being a toggle instead of a hold.
If they wanted to move the cursor they would press the key which toggles it off.
If all guilds were equal (i.e., they all ran dungeons, they all socialised, they all RPd, they all played sPvP and WvW, etc) then 1 guild could well meet all of a players needs.
So many guilds these days are focused on one aspect. And with the lack of any useful group finder it makes sense to have a guild which you can switch to to find people to do certain activities with you.
But I’d never force it on anyone and have no problems with a guild deciding to not allow members to represent other guilds.
It’s an MMO not long after launch.
Of course new content is needed, and of course it is coming.
People have suggested it.
But since it involves punishing everyone to try to hurt the minority it doesn’t tend to go down well.
I generally find that things like crafting or class guides tend to be written, but activity guides (a GW2 example being jumping puzzles) are more often videos.
And this makes sense. Big guides with a lot of information are often better as text, but walkthroughs of activities are often easier to follow in a video.
The server select on the character screen will tell you low vs med vs high vs full.
I think that’s all you will be able to find.
:edit:
And ignore the doomsday threads, this is 100% normal for MMO forums.
Some people claim the game is dieing, others claim it will die immediately unless a proposed change is made, etc.
You learn to ignore them
I know what you mean about them being immersion breaking, OP.
Then perhaps you can explain, because no one else will.
This game has portals which instantly transport you. It has magic and monsters. How do waypoints “break the immersion”?
:edit:
Immersive worlds are worlds that are coherent, have an interior logic, contain history, geography, surface, metaphor, respond to and drive narrative, and allow an audience to be fully immersed in both environment and story.
Basically, believable enough to get lost in.
How does the waypoint system stop you from believing?
(edited by Jestunhi.7429)
Here’s how I figured the type of armor I wanted (mix & match)
Shame its selection is so limited.
I don’t think any pieces of my current mix & match leveling gear are on there: http://imageshack.us/a/img801/268/gw006p.jpg
Perhaps it’s guide writers who you should be speaking to?
Give them a pep talk, tell them there are people who still care about written guides.
The simple fact is, if not enough people want them then they are less likely to create them. You may dislike that, but it’s not anybody’s fault.
People are not wrong for preferring a video over lines of text. Nor are you wrong for preferring text. But the two are not mutually exclusive.
The only “customers” that videos steal away from written guides are the people who were making do with written and now have something which they prefer.
If the people using video guides are forcing writers to not write guides, then it’s wrong.
But that’s not the case.
Anyone who doesn’t want to use them: don’t.
Anyone who does: do.
Anyone that wants to dictate whether other players should be allowed to have a guide to refer to: Grow up.
:edit:
With tablets and smartphones video guides are easy to use and don’t require alt tabbing or multiple computers.
Keep in mind that a good way to make money is buy a load of items cheap then start a rumour that they will be useful soon.
Prices rise, original buyer sells for hugely inflated price.
So take any “buy this” messages ingame or on the forums with a grain of salt.
