in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!
Waypoints are killing the immersion of the game. Once you hit 100% map you never go these places again.
Immersion has nothing to do with whether you return to a place. It just gets used as a catch-all excuse for complaining about something.
In what way do waypoints break the immersion in a world which has both teleporting and asura gate technology?
On topic, Given that a mount is just a speed buff with an animal stuffed between your legs it’s completely possible to balance. With the possibility to cancel on damage and ANet having complete control over how much of a runspeed buff it wouldn’t necessarily have to be a negative thing.
But it all comes down to how they do it, if they do it.
You can’t disable it on the forums, just ingame.
Precisely.
But, uh, sega isn’t censored here…
This is true, however there are many other words censored for (presumably) similar reasons here on the forums.
Example?
I’ve not seen words that I use which also have a slang meaning in other languages being censored here, do you know of any?

Also, Why is it that when I do list something, and there is a tax, and say to be competitive, I remove my listed item and continue to re post it at the lowest ask, that i do not get my previous tax back?
Because they don’t want everyone relisting the moment their item isn’t the cheapest sell order.
So the scammer won’t get banned either even if i reported with them with screenshots?
Depends if ANet think he broke any rules.
It’s not as if he exploited a bug in the TP to break into a supposedly secure trading system, he’s exploiting people’s trust not the game mechanics.
If you ‘do the math’, the projected profit amount is now added directly to your trade profit, which is the amount you pick up when you cash out.
That’s right.
But as the listing fee is paid when you list. The projected profit tells you how much you get back (90% of list price) but does not account for the 5% paid when you list an item.
As of right now, in my client, the amount listed under ‘Projected Profit’ is my profit…it is fully reflecting all fees, taxes, etc. Again, this started over the weekend, but I’ve not found any mention that they changed it in the patch notes. As I said earlier, I’ve been testing it all day.
There’s 2 possibilities.
1. It displays the price after all fees & taxes.
2. It displays the amount that you collect after selling the item.
Both cannot be true as the listing fee is applied when you list the item, not when it sells. Therefore it doesn’t alter the amount you get when the item sells.

It’s a gold sink.
If players constantly earn gold and don’t spend it then the prices of everything rise.
Not just max level gear, most lower level characters will be alts so they can afford the new prices too.
And then what happens to the new player? Unable to afford anything on the TP he is limited to loot & vendors until he has farmed enough to catch up with the rampant inflation.
There is no “Law” for buying in game virtual currency. Good luck finding a prosecutor willing to take that on. What it is against is the rules of the developer. That’s it.
Pretty much what I was going to say.
I’m in no way condoning it, but it’s not “illegal”.
A breach in the terms of service? Yes. Grounds for a ban? ANet are fully within their rights if they feel it is the way to go. But illegal? No.
I can confirm I can replicate this exactly as described above.
Is there an official word from Anet about SweetFXAA, and whether or not it could get you banned? Would really like to try it but I want to make 100% sure it’s allowed.
The policy has been linked and quoted in this thread.
It meets none of the criteria – it gives no advantage in any way, they do not vet specific “mods”.
:edit:
I went through 5-6 iterations of settings before deciding upon my final set. I use it for the visual “awesomeness” it provides, but as I understand it, there’s not going to be any sort of boost in performance unless you are dropping back other un-needed GW2 settings to replace them with what this provides.
The addon is not supposed to offer any sort of performance boost. It’s called SweetFX because it makes the games look “great.”
The image being processed differently by the graphics card will very much effect your performance.
If that weren’t true you wouldn’t lose fps either.
Presumably all you’re doing is enabling different parts of the injector with the default (if not default then, given the small amount of tests, very few changes to) the advanced settings within.
5-6 is so few tests that you couldn’t have even tried many different combinations of enabled / disabled settings.
And besides, it’s not as simple as that. You also need to tweak your ingame settings. For example, if the only part of the post processing setting in the ingame menu that you wanted was bloom you may find that disabling post processing ingame and enabling bloom via SXAA will change your fps. Possibly for the better.
Similar with FXAA vs SXAA. Perhaps you would find that disabling your ingame FXAA and using just SXAA via the settings files would improve your fps?
The fact is, it will depend on your hardware. Not all graphics cards are equal, not all have the same capabilities.
You are in no way required to keep trying. If you don’t want to put in the time and would prefer the default settings then that’s fine. But your experiences with such a limited amount of different settings will not reflect everyone elses results.
(edited by Jestunhi.7429)
AFAIK You don’t get the listing fee back.
Projected profit = the amount you will get when it sells.
The 5% listing fee is not taken off when it sells, it’s taken off when it’s listed.
Therefore it’s not included in the projected profit figure.
Is the thread still there when you go back or has it been deleted while you were writing your post?
I’m serious. How are you guys getting better performance?
I think that’s a myth. When I toggle from enabled to disabled, my framerate stays identical to the original. No difference at all.
So you have tested one set of settings and decided that it’s a myth?
FYI no self respecting thief or ranger wears huge flappy trenchcoats either.
All we’d do is alert everyone to our presence – which isn’t good for a sneaky thief or a ranger in the wilds.
Hmm…
In this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Graphics-glitches-Lack-of-response-Constant-game-crashing-F-this/first#post586695
I edited my post to add in the x’s instead of the t’s. When I had the correct URL inbetween the brackets it showed nothing at all – it just displayed “()”.
Lets try it in brackets again in case that’s what caused it: ()
:edit:
Yes… it doesn’t display within brackets.
If you edit or quote this post you will see the URL between those brackets, but when it’s displayed in the thread it is hidden.
:edit2:
And brackets don’t (always hide what is contained within them) – I had to check as this is a custom forum rather than a nice simple BBCode one!

You should be able to trust your guildmates…
If not, I’d leave that guild immediately!
You can probably go ahead and report the guy for scamming, but it wouldn’t help you get the promised item or your money back.
This.
You can report them but will not get your items back.
If you want secure trading, the TP is setup for just that. Use the gifting system (there is no way to trade / exchange items, it’s “send one item” then “send another item”) for trading at your own risk.
Medium can use the Thief starter hood with a little transmuting to get around the soulbound-ness of it.
Not too sure on heavy though.
The following URL, with x’s replaced with t’s, won’t display on these forums meaning we cannot link people to the ANet approved support channels!
hxxps://en.support.guildwars2.com/
What crashing? I don’t think I’ve crashed once yet.
re: support – try the support portal (hxxps://en.support.guildwars2.com/) instead of community forums.
:edit:
The forum refuses to display the URL for ANet’s own support portal? lol…
Access it via “Services” at the top of the website.
http://www.miketodd.net/encyc/salestax.htm
Almost all US stores display their prices before the addition of sales tax. For the British, who are used to having VAT included in the price (and having stores that don’t include the VAT must display a prominent notice to that effect) it can be the source of some confusion.
Don’t assume the price displayed in USD is the actual price paid. As I said earlier, but people seemed to skim over, US prices tend to be before tax whereas Brits are used to seeing VAT included in the price.
I’ll not claim it’s exactly the same, the only way to do that would be to constantly change the prices in line with the exchange rate. But it’s not as big a difference as you imagine.
You do realise that more players = more hardware required, more bandwidth required, etc? Not to mention more support staff required if they take their customer service seriously.
It’s not just a case of “401st & higher players = profit”.
Why should I limit myself to 3-4 silver when I can get 9?
You shouldn’t, you should sell for whatever price you want to.
And you should allow other people to do the same.
My current look, still not sure on the boots & gloves though
Hi Guys!
What is your opinion? Why it is not fixed two month ago, and will be fixed in the future?
There are some problems:
1. FPS issues-This is really fun when i have got 20 FPS in PVP, in WvW sometimes 15 (low graphics with 8GB RAM, Core i7)
I have (the highest spec, overclocked) i5 and 8Gb RAM and haven’t dropped below 45 fps as far as I’ve seen.
2. PVP Ballance- There is not Ballance:
-SPVP: The mesmer and Thief is really OverPowered
-WvW: The Jumping Puzzles are impossible, because a lot of kid who have spend them all day there, and sometimes the Invisible Well is camped, and they are spamming the AOE and the Invisibility buff is gone when i hit by the awesome AOE, so this is impossible
Your complaint is people PvPing in the WvW zone? Wow.
3. PVE: -The Dungeons are unballanced for Melee Characters, because of all ranged professional is better for dungeons. There is lot of boss what can be hit by ranged DPS-s.
Tell me… which class has 0 ranged attacks? They can all use ranged if the situation requires it.
4. Trading Post: -I got more money for the items 99% in the game if i sell it to vendor than i sell it in Trading Post
Why should the TP have a higher price for every single item? the TP is powered by the community who post every single buy & sell order on there. If the community doesn’t want it, why would they pay more than the vendor price?
This is only a “problem” because you think you should sell everything on the TP. I’ve never used an AH like that in any MMO.
5. Crafting: The crafting is unnecessary, because the items which you craft you can’t sell in TP, you only can sell it to vendors, and the crafted items are worse than Dungeon’s Exotic or the Karma gear
Thank You for the answers.
Sry for my English.
Crafting should never be “necessary”. No one should be required to craft.
Besides, all items of the same level, rarity and combination of stats have the exact same stats. A crafted item with +power, +precision and +crit damage will have exactly the same stats as a dungeon / legendary / cultural / looted weapon of the same level and rarity which also gives +power, +precision and +crit damage.
it is rather “rich!” to ask people to buy in game items after allready buying the game!
But you expect them to keep developing content, provide support staff, power the servers, maintain the servers, host the servers around the world, etc, etc.?
:)
On topic, most of what you will read on any MMO forum should be taken with a pinch of salt. Rumours get started easily.
Do you think constantly complaining about bots is productive?
ANet realise that they are a problem. No amount of threads complaining about them will be in any way productive.
9s to 13.5s is a 27.5% profit.
And who knows how many he had up there when he undercut? He could have sold quite a few very quickly before people started undercutting him further.
Bottom line – deal with it. He’s perfectly within his rights to do this. He’s still making a profit if he is flipping the item, he’s just willing to take a smaller profit than the people selling at a higher price.

Technically LFG spams are still spams, right?
When someone repeatedly spams the same LFG message in short periods of time (unless the amount of other chat is very high) I report them for spamming.
We don’t need to see the LFG message every second, at least wait until it’s been pushed off the chat window by other messages!
Zoom in if it bothers you?
The point is, as stated in the OP, that it makes things like flanking / hiding harder.
Zooming in doesn’t fix that, it doesn’t zoom in the cameras of everyone else around you.
That’s like saying “if you have a problem with hacks then don’t use them” without realising that it’s other people using hacks which is the problem.
NOTE I used hacks as an generic example not something related to GW2, nor am I saying that zooming out is as bad as hacking.
Am I the only one who likes the original (intended) Guild Wars 2 look better?
Except for the better antialiasing, all the color modifications and supposed “enhancements” make it way too flashy – like turning Clint Eastwood in some sort of carnival Las Vegas cow boy…Because you’re obviously using the wrong settings, dont say things like that because you give people a false impression. You need to actually Tweak the settings to your likings, wich can take up some time
Of course I can say things like that, because that’s my opinion about this “tweak”. Beside my own experience, I find all the screenshots posted here more or less ugly.
As I said, the only real benefit I see is the “better” antialiasing, and even that causes compatibility problems with other programs like Steam or voice chat overlays. If ANet wanted GW2 to look like a hippie on drugs game, they’d have made it that way. I prefer the original look. To each his own though
The problem is, it’s like saying that a filter than can be set to tint the screen any colour is too red.
It’s only too red if you have it set to red, if you had changed it you could have whatever colour you want.
SweetFX isn’t designed and written for GW2 so the default settings will not necessarily be the best ones for you to use. Did you test various settings files posted here by other users to see what effect a tweaked settings file gives?
Personally mine is no more “flashy”. If anything disabling bloom has made it less flashy. But with tweaked AA & sharpening I’m able to enjoy more visible textures at various distances where the default GW2 settings would result in blurring.
I’ll just gear up in zergy PvP BGs and Nexus events with really OP gear and then own ze undergeared noobs.
Swap out “PvP BGs and Nexus events” with whatever is the quickest way to level in the game and that statement can be applied to every PvP server in every game.
I like a good open PvP game, and I’ve been the kitten who kills lower level players as well as the person who protects people. But the reality is that there’s a certain type of person who labels themselves as “hardcore” (this is not all people calling themselves hardcore, but the ones I’m talking about always seem to identify with hardcores) but actually just wants to kill people who have zero chance of fighting back due to a combination of gear and level differences, and this type of person is why it becomes about zerging through your enemies low level zone.
No. Other people have other games – he’s merely expecting that a game designed from ground up to cater to those specific limitations and taste stays true to it.
…. and I said that game is unsustainable whether he thinks he wants it or not..
With your level of knowledge, actually being able to predict the future and know in advance what design decisions will result in what level of success, I’m surprised a development studio hasn’t snapped you up!

No…
I don’t see that term applying to offering additional customisation options which offer no gameplay advantage.
Face the music because no doubt this game is going to implement things in the future that has the player work for in some shape or form. You have to really look at wants/needs of players. To satisfy the want, they’ve got legendary weapons and cultural armor at absurd prices or beyond the veil of extreme gambling, both asking the player to grind heavily to receive. Many players WILL and ARE doing this.
No one has said they want to be handed everything, there’s nothing wrong with working at something and getting a reward. We’re not demanding the current dungeon loot be given to people who dislike dungeons are we? No, we accept a grind when it’s optional and whether you have done it has no effect on the outcome of an encounter.
Nothing that requires a grind gives an advantage, that T3 set doesn’t have better stats than my exotics bought for 1-2g a piece on the TP.
So what are you saying exactly? That they aren’t going to add any carrot whatsoever to this game? Nothing that a player can work for? The lot of you are desperately looking to use the word grind wherever there is any work or “want” involved.
Again, no one has said that. But you’re not talking about rewards (as in plural, different sorts of rewards), you’re talking purely about a stat advantage. It’s not enough to do content for fun or for cosmetic reward, you only want one specific carrot which will give you an advantage over everyone who doesn’t have it.
It’s like the carrot is only acceptable if you can beat others down with it.
Nowhere am I asking that this game be turned into a crazy grinding MMO.
Good, because nowhere is anyone saying that everything should be handed out for free, nor that nothing new should be added for players to work towards. We are simply disagreeing about what that something should be.
Merely all I’ve said is that I would like to see loot tables or better loot quality from the world, among other tweaks. The entire game needn’t be a grind, but certain aspects should have more depth to strengthen the variation between players.
Loot tables? Perhaps, but what’s the actual advantage of that? All you’re doing is forcing people to do certain content (we have that in dungeons, we don’t need to further limit existing content).
And variation between players does not have to be a statistical advantage.
This wouldn’t harm you, but you’re acting like it would all high and mighty.
If this “better” gear had better stats, and was only in the loot tables of content which I did not enjoy, then it would very much affect me.
This whole discussion kind of blows my mind.
What blows my mind are the people who insist that what they find fun is the definition of fun.
What they personally enjoy.
Guess what? Not everyone finds the same thing as fun. No one is claiming that you don’t enjoy that, what we are saying is that this game was specifically designed for people who do not find that fun and want an MMO without a gear grind.
I can’t stand American Football, but I would not claim that it’s not fun – I’d say that I don’t find it fun, it’s my own personal opinion. I wouldn’t claim that I know whether the fans of the sport find it fun, or that my personal preference is the right answer and everyone elses is wrong.
:edit:
Nor would I demand it get changed to be a clone of some other sport.
If you wanted to be a profesional player you would choose a discipline that gives you fun and reward you wish to get. It is all about choosing.
Exactly.
Just like gamers who want a grind should choose a game designed with grinding, just like players who don’t want a grind choose GW2 as it’s designed to have no grinding required to reach maximum potential (any grinding is for cosmetic rewards).
This whole discussion kind of blows my mind.

Eridani.8317 – What do you want to do at 80?
You’re not asking me but i’ll answer:
At 80 i want PvE that’s simmilarly easily accessible as it is at lower levels.
Note that i’m not asking for easy PvE, in fact i think many of the events are to easy with a large group, imo scaling of events needs tweaking.
Well you’re in luck! With the downscaling system you’ll be few levels above any content in the game. There’s no need to limit yourself to level 80 content.
But i do not want be forced to move around a zone on foot because most waypoints are contested, while in addition i’m being at best slowed down (at worst killed) by large numbers of mobs – when my objective is to find ongoing events and join the local zerg-for-the-occasion.
This happens much less often in the lower level zones, so that’s simple enough.
I do not want to spend much time soloing while looking for the fun parts of the game.
The best way to acheive this is finding a guild of like minded people. I’m sure you’re not alone in wanting to be playing with other people for most of your time. The LFG system needs major work, but a social / grouping guild is always going to make it easier to get groups.
The ingame group finder – or what has to pass for that – is in practice not effective.
Absolutely, it could use major improvement.
Nor do i want to be forced to use map chat; that’s hopelessly primitive, equivalent to me having to call friends on the phone to ask them to join a server for a FPS game such as Quake – which back in those days was never an issue (and still isn’t) because one could/can find multiple populated servers any hour of the day or night.
You’re not required to. Many people disable map chat because it’s full of random chat. Especially if you are in a guild as you have a channel to chat in if you want to. Again, improvements to the LFG system will mean even less uses for /map.
It should not be so that in a massively multiplayer game it is often harder to find multplayer action than it is in just about any (not massively) multiplayer FPS or tactical shooter.
How easy it is to find people to group with depends who you are asking. If you are in a guild which suits your needs, and once the LFG system is improved, I don’t see this as being an issue.
Eridani.8317 – What do you want to do at 80?
Instead of asking what ANet wants you to do, tell me what you would enjoy doing.
Not how you would like to be rewarded for doing it, but what you would actually enjoy doing.
Instead of asking what you are supposed to do at end game, tell us what you want to do.
And then we’ll see if you can do it.
Note: I’m talking activities, not “get better gear” which is a reward instead of an activity. Forget rewards and tell me what activity you would enjoy doing at level 80.
Finding the first one is manual AFAIK.
But once you find one there should be an up & down arrow above & below the forum name, click on them (if they are greyed out then there are no earlier / later posts respectively).
News flash…. leveling is a grind. Yet you support there being levels and do not support gear progression… hence hypocrite…
Leveling is all new content.
It’s only a grind if you choose to repeatedly grind through the same stuff.
Plus leveling is possible in pretty much any method the player wants.
Roughly 10 levels per crafting skill 1-400, WvW, solo PvE, group PvE, exploration.
So please explain to me how a level 80 having an advantage over a level 20 is fair?
No.
Because if I do you’ll use a strawman to exaggerate it to try to prove your point, as has been done far too often in this thread already.
The fact is the game was designed to have absolutely zero grind required.
If you want to grind you can, but you won’t get an advantage from it.
If what you really want is an advantage, not the grind, then I think that says all we need to know about you.
That’s why you have to search for it.
Because if everyone could get them that easily then no one would care about them at all because everyone else has them, rare=want, give them to every player=bank trash. Maybe the skins will be available as a rare drop from the finale event, who knows? It’s only been a day.
This.
How many people are walking around in their town clothes showing off their free devil horns? A very small percentage of the playerbase (and as they are free, the whole playerbase has access to them).
But the stuff that’s hard to get? You can expect whoever has them to have them proudly on display.
You have no clue as to what an FPS is do you? Guild wars has literally nothing in common with it. It doesn’t even use reticule based combat….
Given that he thinks “MMOPVP” is a genre, I’m going to guess he doesn’t know what an FPS is either.
Nothin in the event requires gems in any way, shape or form.
If you want to buy something which is on the cash shop for a limited period of time then that’s a different matter.
But guess what? I want ANet to be able to afford the server hosting. And the server bandwidth. And the power, upgrades, maintenance, support, ongoing development and many more costs which come with running an MMO, especially when there is no subscription fee.
So when they offer items for a limited period which give no gameplay advantage to encourage (not force) people to but gems, they have my full support.
