Hiya! Welcome back to the game. =) There are some great PvE things available right now (one of my favorites is Fractals, although it took me awhile to warm up to them, admittedly). I think you’d really like it in my guild, Ember Solace. We’re on Tarnished Coast, which is currently ranked #2 in the WvW leaderboards. Our guild also has a PvP Officer who is currently planning a 2 v. 2 Gauntlet Tournament (and there’s still time to sign up!). I’d consider us mature — we have a well thought-out Purpose and Principles and we have a brief application to join the guild (in order to weed out trolls and elitists). We’re on Tarnished Coast, and we’re friendly, like to talk, and mature. We’d love to do raffles (we’ve got a scavenger hunt going on right now on the forums and enjoy activities like that). We’re definitely female-friendly (it’s in our Purpose & Principles, as is our commitment to being a safe space free from harassment).

We do require full rep, but with the following four exceptions:
1. A family/friend guild, solely for chatting briefly (not for repping that guild during any activities such as dungeon runs or WvW).
2. A storage/bank alt, for briefly placing/removing items from a guild bank on the alt.
3. Tequatl Terror Squad [TTS], for killing Tequatl once a week.
4. Guild Commendations [GC], for doing Guild Missions for commendations.

Seafarer’s Rest is a European server, so you couldn’t use the Guest feature to visit any North American servers. All three of us who replied to you (me, Aria, and Telana) lead guilds on Tarnished Coast, which is a North American server. You could still join a North American guild, and hang out in guild chat, and even do dungeons together, but you couldn’t guest over for things like Guild Missions.

You could transfer, though, if you saved up enough gold/IRL money. If you’re not looking to transfer, though, you could open a new LFG topic and put SF in the title in the hopes of attracting some Seafarer’s Rest guilds. =)

Hiya, Falen! From your requirements and your description, you might like my guild, Ember Solace. We’ve been around since November, and we have 52 members currently. We’re casual (although we do have an application to weed out trolls and elitists). We also mainly focus on PvE, although we do have a thriving PvP side (with a 2v2 tournament coming up in sPvP). I believe we coordinate well; using TS3 helps with things like that, as does people genuinely caring and listening. We do Guild Bounties right now and are working on unlocking the others.

We’re on Tarnished Coast, but you could always guest first before committing to a transfer; some of our members don’t ever transfer because they’re not into WvW. We do require 100% rep, but you said that’s not a problem. And we really love when people help others — we even have a Newbie Officer who likes helping teach newer players the ropes. Plus, like you, we understand about work (or anything in RL) coming first. We’ve also got a “Leave of Absence” sub-forum where you can post if you’re going away for a long time.

Hiya Kylthias! I think it’s awesome that you’re able to juggle work and family and still find time for gaming. From what you described about activity, dungeons, WvW, and map exploration, I really think you’d love it in Ember Solace. We’re a smaller (51-person) guild on Tarnished Coast, and we’re PvX, so we do everything you listed. We have Officers in charge of specific activities, including a Newbie Officer who loves helping people with personal quests and answering questions (and our regular members are super friendly, too).

We don’t have an age requirement, but we do have an application process to screen out potential trouble, and the app has a question about maturity so we can get a feel for people and ensure we’re a good fit for potential members and they’re a good fit for us. We do require 100% rep (with the exception of bank alts), but we don’t have a required play time or required activities, so I think we’d work really well with your busy schedule. Several of our weekly activities are scheduled at a set time, so people can plan for them if they want, but we also have plenty spur-of-the-moment stuff going on.

We use TS3 for voice chat, but it’s not required, and lots of people hang out in guild chat to talk, too. I’m not sure how many people online you’re wanting, but it’s 12:33 a.m. late Thursday night (early Friday morning) right now, and we have 17 people online.

We’re specifically designed to be a safe space for female gamers (along with other groups at the margins, like LGBTQ people and people with disabilities,). Hiya, Entu! How are you liking Guardian? I haven’t tried it yet, not seriously, but it looks like it can be a lot of fun. I think you would really like my guild, Ember Solace. We’re smaller (less than 50, like you prefer — we have 43 members currently) and have a fantastic community of people who genuinely care about each other. Hiya PacinoMan! If you’re into smaller guilds that are close-knit, Ember Solace might be a good fit for you. We have 39 members and we’re on Tarnished Coast. We do a mix of PvE, WvW, and sPvP (with some forum RP thrown in), but no one is required to do anything they don’t want to do. We have a PvE Officer who is in charge of scheduling events, and she’s pretty awesome. Hiya, Ruhig! I definitely agree with the idea of the game as a hobby and not just a video game. Especially when you’re talking about creating and maintaining a community.

I think you’d really like it in Ember Solace. We’re a smaller-ish guild on Tarnished Coast. I know you’re on Kaineng, but since you said you might be willing to transfer, I thought I’d reply. Plus, you could always guest as long as you weren’t doing WvW.

To address what you’re looking for, we’re active (nearly all of our members play extensively several times a week), we value maturity and fun (we have an application process, actually, to help ensure we’re a good fit for players and players are a good fit for us), and we focus on PvE and sPvP (with some WvW thrown in and a forum RP on the side).

We also have an officer system to provide members with both opportunities to engage with content and opportunities to advance. Right now, we have a Newbie Officer (who helps people with personal story quests, newbie gear/profession questions, and hosts low-level dungeon runs), a PvE Officer (who is on a cruise currently, not that I’m envious or anything, but will be hosting dungeon runs, starting our Guild Missions, and organizing some WvW), and a PvP Officer (who focuses on sPvP and is looking to create some tPvP groups). Also, all of the officers can appoint Assistants, who help host events, mentor players, etc.

Hiya Sanguina! I don’t think my guild would be a good fit for you (even though we’re an LGBTQ guild and very safe for women) because we require 90% rep (outside of the Tequatl killing guild and the Guild Missions guild), plus we’re on Tarnished Coast, but you might be interested in Our Sanctuary. They’re an LGBTQ guild on Tarnished Coast, but many of their members are on other servers and just guest over to do things. I hope you find a good fit. =)

Heya Nbostaph! I played WoW for a bit, too, although not as seriously as you did; I never did end up in a raiding guild, although raiding looked like a lot of fun. I mean, I did one or two raids once in a guild, but nothing like progression raiding. I left WoW before the Pandas and ended up falling in love with GW2. And it’s funny what you said about liking a class you thought you’d hate, because I tried engineer during the beta and hated it, but I gave it another shot almost a year ago, and I ended up loving it. =P

I really think you’d love Ember Solace. We’re a smaller guild, and we definitely have that welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Our guild members genuinely care about each other — right now in guild chat, we have people wishing someone good luck on a first date tomorrow. =) And there’s a whole thread on our forums where people have shared their experiences with chronic illness.

One of the key components of our guild is being newbie-friendly and welcoming to everyone. We even have a Newbie Officer, Falunel, who is great at helping people out with everything from personal story quests to build ideas. Plus Fal hosts regular Ascalonian Catacombs Story Mode dungeon runs for people who have never done a dungeon before.

There are some people in the guild who are talking about starting a progression Fractal group, so I think you’d enjoy participating in that. And as far as fun little events go, Fal is hosting a trivia event tomorrow night, and we had a Leveling League event earlier (low-level guildies group up together and lay waste to a map).

It’s definitely okay if you’re still interested in WoW; we have members who split their time between GW2 and other MMOs or other games in general. And we also understand about jobs (I’m working more than one, as well) and families. We’re really laid back and casual, and we have spontaneous events and groups during the week, too. Plus we have a calendar on our forums where anyone can schedule an event, so you could always create an event during a time when you know you’ll be free, and then invite others to join in. =)

Leadership is definitely important to a guild. I’m the guild leader of Ember Solace, and I work hard to make the guild successful. Part of that is knowing my strengths; I’m great at organizing forums and creating a welcoming environment and truly caring about people. But I don’t always have the social energy for frequent parties in game, which is why we have officers with specific duties. We just finished the application stage to appoint both a PvE Officer and a PvP Officer, and we’ve had several other people step up to assist with lots of fun activities.

Heya Nodo! =) When I saw that you’re looking for a newbie-friendly guild, I thought you might be interested in Ember Solace. We’re a small-ish LGBTQ guild on Tarnished Coast (but you don’t have to switch servers) with a dedication specifically for helping new people. Even as I type this, our Newbie Officer (we have an official position for that) is taking some members on a run of Ascalonian Catacombs: Explorable Mode. (And some of those members have never done that dungeon, and one has barely done any dungeons at all.)

We’ve unlocked Guild Bounties and hope to start them soon, but we haven’t unlocked the rest of the missions yet, so if that’s a priority for you then we might not be the best fit. But we do enjoy playing the game together, and we genuinely care about each other. People post pictures of their vacations and get kind words when they talk about their pet needed a vet visit and offer support during break-ups. I’ve worked really hard to help Ember Solace be a place where people can be genuine and form connections.

Welcome back to GW2, Proko! There are a couple LGBT guilds on Tarnished Coast. I’d suggest mine, Ember Solace, but we don’t do much WvW right now. It’s something we want to do more of in the future, and we have members who do small roaming, but we don’t have an organized force (although one of our officers does have a Commander tag). Plus we require 100% rep (outside of personal bank guilds and Tequatl-killing guilds).

We’re in the process of moving to a new set of forums that will have better functionality (especially for the calendar, which I want to make active use of), so we don’t have many scheduled events at the moment. Most of our dungeoning is spur-of-the-moment. We don’t mind helping people through content that is new to them, and we like helping people get their Dungeon Master title. We’re also very laid-back and understanding about things coming up in life and needing to take breaks from the game. Oh, and we do have TS.

And if we’re not quite what you’re looking for, there’s also Our Sanctuary [LGBT] (formerly known as Equality Regiment), which is a very large guild (350 people?) with no rep policy that seems to have about 15 people repping at any given time. Or there’s Gryphon’s Aerie [REST] that is small and has more specific policies.

From what you described, I think Ember Solace would be a really good fit. We’re a small-ish guild on Tarnished Coast specifically dedicated to being a safe space for LGBTQ people, women, people of color, people with disabilities, and more. I’m very serious about protecting that safe space. We’re very flexible with activity; we have a section where you can post if you’re going to be away for awhile, and we understand that there will definitely be times when people need to take care of things outside the guild. We’re also really newbie-friendly. I know you’re not technically a newbie, but since you’ve been away for awhile and have a level 56 character, it means there’s stuff you haven’t had the opportunity to experience yet, and we have a Newbie Officer who loves helping people with content, from dungeons to personal stories to just general questions. Hiya, Convoite! Around since launch is a long time. I’ve been playing since launch, too — I really love GW2. I think you might like my guild, Ember Solace. We’re a smaller guild on Tarnished Coast, and although we’re not furry-specific, we are definitely furry-friendly. The guild itself was designed to be a safe space for those at the margins, especially LGBTQ, but also people of color, people with disabilities, people who speak English as a second language, etc. and furries definitely fall under that, since not a lot of spaces are safe for furries. We help out with everything from personal story quests to which gear to choose to how to do dungeons. I think the biggest difference is that we’re not a “pass through” guild; we’re not designed for people to join, learn all about GW2, and then leave. We’re designed for people to join and stay. Heya Dark Night! It’s not just you; it’s really hard to find all three of those things. I’m incredibly introverted (more so outside the game than inside), and having a close-knit guild is really important to me because my guild mates tend to become my main friend-community. I think I’m in a similar space of being casual and semi-hardcore (sometimes I just like to log in and poke the Trading Post, but I’m also part of a closed Progression Fractals group — we’re only at 23, but we’re having fun).

Anyway! I really think Ember Solace would be a good fit for what you’re looking for. We’re incredibly close-knit (we talk about vacations we’re going on and post YouTube links of our dance performances and Santa even visited us and gave each member a small gift from the gem store). We genuinely care about each other. Many of us go by real names or nick-names other than our screen names, and we share pictures of our pets, and one of our members is even looking into starting up a D&D campaign with some people.

We’re also active. Everyone doesn’t log on every day (and I’m about to go on vacation for six days, lol), but we have people who are online doing stuff and who like to group up together. Many of our members are new to the game, so some of the more experienced members have been helping them with things like story quests and their first dungeons. We ran someone through AC: EM last night (and not a speed run for tokens, but a thorough run, even including Lt. Twirly-Pants, even when some of the new people had a little trouble and we wiped a bit), and it was a lot of fun. Also, we require 100% rep (with the exception of personal storage guilds and TC Commendations once a week for those who need/want comms while we’re working on unlocking Guild Missions), which means we all get to know each other instead of flitting between other guilds.

If you’d like to learn more about us, we’ve got the standard recruitment post, plus you could stop by our guild forums and read our Purpose and Principles statement. We do have a short application, but it’s designed to help build that sense of community with members and make sure we’re a good fit for players and the players are a good fit for us. I know you’re on Blackgate and we’re on Tarnished Coast, but you could always guest if you decide we fit what you’re looking for. No worries! I didn’t know much about the guesting system for a long time, but here’s how it works. When you’re at the character select screen, you click the “World Selection” button at the bottom left. You can choose from any servers that are in the same region as you (you’re on a North American server, so you can guest to any other North American servers). Once you click the name of the server and choose “Guest,” you’ll get a pop up with some information, and then you’ll see a suitcase next to the server you chose, and on the left in the background, under the name of the character you have selected, you’ll see “Devona’s Rest (Guesting in _)” with the name of the server where you’re guesting. Then you just close the pop-up box by clicking the x and go ahead and log into whichever character you want.

The guesting will last until you log out of that character and go back to the character select screen. Once you do that, if you log back in, you’ll be back in Devona’s Rest. But you can re-guest to that server as many times as you want. The only limit is that you can only guest to two different servers in any given 24-hour period. So you couldn’t try to do some sort of server world tour where you visit 18 servers in a day. =P

We don’t require that anyone ever permanently switch to Tarnished Coast, although it does make things easier. The guesting system works well for almost everything — the only thing you couldn’t do with us while guesting is World vs. World, which is the large-scale server vs. server PvP. If you’re interested in doing WvW, you’d need to either find a guild on Devona’s Rest or transfer to Tarnished Coast.

Transferring can be done one of three ways: you can delete all of your characters and choose a new home world (which also lets you choose a new region, if you want, and keeps all of your bank items and wallet items — tokens, gems, karma, etc.), or you can use real-life money to buy gems to pay for a transfer (it costs 1,800 gems, but you can only buy gems in certain increments, so you’d need to buy 2,800 for $35.00 and then spend the rest on fun stuff from the gem story), or you can use in-game gold and convert it to gems to get the 1,800 you need to transfer.

But anyway, if you don’t want to transfer, you can still do everything else with us. Leveling parties, dungeon runs, guild missions (we’re really close to unlocking guild bounties), living story content, etc. It’s entirely up to you. =)

Hiya Ziffin! Hope your download is going super fast (or has finished already, even)! If you’re comfortable with a smaller guild (with active members), I think Ember Solace would be great. We’re on Tarnished Coast, and we’re a particularly newbie-friendly (one of our officers, Falunel, even created a terrific New Player Outreach thread). We do PvP and PvE (pretty much whatever our members want), and we have a very welcoming environment. I’m not sure which server you’re on, but Ember Solace is on Tarnished Coast. I know you’re on Whiteside Ridge, but if you’d be okay with guesting, my guild, Ember Solace, is on Tarnished Coast, and we’re specifically welcoming to newbie players who might not know all the ropes yet. We like to have leveling parties where we do map completion in various areas (we worked on Wayfarer Foothills a bit the other night), and we answer all kinds of questions about stuff.
