Hiya, Dylan! Welcome back to Tyria after your break. My favorites are PvE and sPvP, too. I think our guild, Ember Solace, would be a good fit for you. We’ve got about 50-ish members, most of whom are usually online in EDT evenings. Many of our members share your goals, and our events reflect that. Last night, we had a Fractal party, and tonight we’re helping people complete some paths toward Dungeon Master. Hiya Will! That’s a long time in the Guild Wars universe. =) I never played GW1, but I hear from lots of people who loved it. We actually have a thread on our forums where GW1 players can share screenshots and memories of it.

It sounds like you might enjoy my guild, Ember Solace. We’re small-ish (50 people), yet active (a scheduled event planned every night, social activities both in-game and on the forums, and spur-of-the-moment fun stuff, too). Right now, we do PvE and PvP. We’re looking for someone in the guild to step up and start leading some WvW events on the regular, but we do have people who do WvW on their own with others in the guild, plus my co-leader, Dahkeus, is leading a group this week to help people work on their WvW achievements for the Tournament.

We’re definitely a friendly bunch, and we care about each other. More than just knowing people’s names, we know things about each other. Who is active in their school’s extracurricular club, who just put in their two-weeks notice (and is celebrating, lol), who has joint custody and visits their daughter on Thursday nights, etc.

We do use TeamSpeak3. I have a mild difficulty with auditory stimuli, so I’m not always on whenever I’m playing (I save it for when I’m leading Guild Missions or running dungeons/doing tPvP during our Friday Night Fights), but others are on often throughout their play time. Right now, we’re the most active in the evenings in EDT time. Oh, and we’re on Tarnished Coast, too. =)

I tried to give a good overview of us, but if you’d still like more details, we’ve got our recruitment post and you can register on our forums to get read-access to the GW2 sub-sections. With those, you can see what kinds of events we tend to do (we have a sticky thread with scheduled events for each week, but there are spontaneous things people do, too), how our members interact with each other, etc. We do have a brief application process, but it’s short and designed to help us get to know potential applicants (and weed out trolls and elitists).

Hello, Aguri! My guild, Ember Solace, just happens to be on Tarnished Coast. =) Plus, we’re a casual, social guild who enjoys doing content together. The Living Story stuffs is definitely a lot more fun with other people; I know I enjoyed it more when I grouped up to work on achievements. As far as social stuffs, we have TS3 and a Social Officer who likes to spice things up with fun events like the Trivia Night we had on Thursday, and the raffle we currently have going until the end of the month. Hiya Weergaloos! I can definitely identify with that dilemma; it can be demoralizing to play alone. After all, the point of an MMO is to play with other people. =)

That sense of community is something I genuinely know we have in Ember Solace. It’s more than just doing things together in game (although that’s fun). It’s knowing who is going on job interviews and who is studying for really tough finals. It’s making a Happy Birthday thread for every guild member when it’s their birthday. =)

We’re a close-knit group of people who really care about each other and love having fun in the game. We’re on Tarnished Coast, but you could always guest over to do things with us (except WvW, since you can’t guest for that). I took a chance on the server because of the “unofficial RP” and the hope of a great community, and I haven’t been disappointed. Your desire for a fun, friendly, laid-back guild makes me think Ember Solace would be a good fit for you. We’re a PvX guild on TC, with about 60-ish members who all really care about each other and enjoy just hanging out and having fun.

While we have scheduled events every week, no one is required to attend, and we have plenty of spur-of-the-moment events, too. I think our biggest strength is our desire to help one another. We even have a Newbie Officer, Saibel, who puts together fun events for new players and low-level characters. Our Social Coordinator, Kaz, hosts screenshot contests and Guess the Number contests, and our PvE Officer, MangoSprode, runs dungeons, Fractals, and gathering events. And our PvP Officer, Erik, is actually just about to start a PvP Tournament called The Gauntlet.

Sometimes we do map exploration, sometimes we do regular dungeons, sometimes (like tomorrow), we do marathon extended dungeon runs where we start with AC and go clean through to Arah. xD (That was Will’s idea. He’s very ambitious like that. =P ) We also do Guild Missions, and we generally hang out in guild chat and TeamSpeak and just talk and have fun.

It can be so frustrating to ask for something and have nothing but silence. ^^; Fortunately, though, my guild now, Ember Solace, is really warm and friendly. We’re a small-ish guild (56-ish members) on Tarnished Coast, with a strong PvE focus and some sPvP/WvW. We have TeamSpeak, and we’re casual in nature, so it’s totally okay if real-life eats you for a bit and then gives you back to us. =P

One thing that makes us unique is our desire to help new players. We actually have a Newbie Officer position, where the person helps out with personal story quests, low-level dungeons, general advice, and more. Plus we have a Social Coordinator who runs events and giveaways (she’s doing a “random number contest” right now with 5 gold as the prize).

I know you’re on FA, but if you’d be willing to guest for some things, you wouldn’t have to transfer unless you wanted to. I think you’d be a really good fit for us. Ah, Anvil Rock is a North American server, so you’d still be able to do dungeons with us even if you didn’t want to transfer. But you could transfer if you want. Hiya McGamer! My guild, Ember Solace, is a PvX guild on Tarnished Coast. We have about 56-ish members, and we focus mostly on PvE, with some PvP/WvW (which I know you mentioned not really being into at this time). We’re definitely active and family-friendly (we have a Purpose & Principles that we require everyone to sign and abide by), and we’re more on the casual side, so we don’t require people to do end-game stuff or run certain builds, etc.

We use TS for voice chat, and while some of our members are a little shy and don’t like speaking on it, many of our members are on TS frequently and enjoy bantering and chatting that way. We also have plenty of people in the guild who are not max level, and plenty of other people who are making alts. Last night, we did Twilight Arbor: Story Mode, and I know our new PvE Officer has some plans for leveling parties, where members join up and work on map exploration together while joking around in TS and harvesting ALL the nodes! =)

I think the biggest thing you’d like about us is that we’re extremely newbie-friendly. We love running dungeons with people who have never run dungeons before. In fact one of our PvE Assistants, Will, is currently doing a poll on our forums to find out which dungeons people would like to learn how to complete, and we’ve got several people who have never done dungeons who are interesting in learning. =)

I definitely agree that playing with other people makes the game a lot more fun. ^^ If you’re okay with guesting or wouldn’t mind moving servers, my guild on Tarnished Coast has some lower-level people and people who enjoy doing lower-level content, including map exploration, starter dungeons, and more. This isn’t my guild, but I know they have several military members from multiple branches, so I thought I’d mention Remnants of Hope on Tarnished Coast. Lots of members speak often about their experiences in boot camp, what it’s like to be deployed, and more. If you can’t find a military-specific guild, maybe RoH will work out for you. =)

Hiya Mz Quinn! I did read that you’re on AR and want to stay there (and no guesting), but I thought just in case you couldn’t find what you want there, I’d mention my guild as a fall-back plan. =)

Ember Solace is a Tarnished Coast guild of about 60 people that has a PvX focus with a lot of PvE/sPvP and some WvW. And, most importantly for your purposes, we have a very strong policy against discrimination. Here’s a quote from our Purpose & Principles, which all members have to sign:

“We are dedicated to being an affirming safe space for everyone at the margins: people of color, women, people from the LGBTQQIAA* community, people with disabilities, people who speak English as a second language, and more. If you are uncomfortable with people from these groups or if you are uncomfortable refraining from making prejudiced remarks, Ember Solace is not the guild for you. Our commitment to being a safe space is paramount. To this end, we do not allow any racist, misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic, or other prejudiced attitudes or comments. This carries across all means of communication in the guild: the forums, in-game systems (e.g., guild chat), and TeamSpeak. We believe all people deserve respect.”

My life mate and I both lead the guild, and we’re both queer (and I’m genderqueer), and I definitely have a no-tolerance policy for -isms. If you’d like to get a feel for the community, you can register on the forums to get read-access to our GW2 sections, which can give you a peek at what we’re like and what kinds of activities we tend to do.

We also understand people being busy. We ask that if you’re going to be gone for a long time, you just put in a Leave of Absence. Otherwise, we kick people after two months solid of not logging into the forums or guild, but that doesn’t happen often, and people are always free to re-apply. Oh, that reminds me — we have an application process to make sure our guild remains a safe space for everyone. It’s pretty brief and is designed to help make sure we’re what you’re looking for and you’re going to be a good fit for the guild.

Heya, Method! That’s a pretty extensive MMO history. =) I’ve played a few of those games (WoW, TERA, Rift, FFXIV: ARR), although most only briefly. It’s awesome that you’re giving GW2 a try now.

From what you described about what you’re looking for in a guild (teamwork, regular activity, acceptance of personal playstyles, a broad interest in all areas of the game), I really think you’d like being in my guild, Ember Solace.

We’re a small-ish guild (58 members) PvX guild on Tarnished Coast, and we do a little bit of everything. Our PvE Officer schedules regular dungeons, our PvE Assistants do regular Fractals (including teaching modes to explain everything), and our PvP Officer does Edge of the Mists and sPvP regularly, including Friday Night Fights (tPvP). Plus, our members love grouping up together to explore new zones, unlock Grandmaster traits, and generally just have fun. =)

We cultivate a very respectful atmosphere, where people treat each other well and form caring friendships. We do have people from other servers in the guild, and they guest over to Tarnished Coast for things like Guild Missions or just to hang out, so it’s okay if you’re not on TC.

We’re casual and flexible, so we’d love to have you and your sense of adaptability. =) We have scheduled events (usually during EST evening times), but people also frequently group up spur-of-the-moment to do fun things. Lately, people have been grouping to help unlock the Grandmaster traits that just came out after the April 15th patch. We also have a group that’s starting beginner Fractals with the goal of teaching newer players.

Plus, we have a solid Purpose & Principles that specifically creates a guild environment free from racism, homophobia, ableism, and more. (I started the guild specifically to be a safe space for people.)

Hiya, Iceing! We’re on Tarnished Coast, too, and I think you’d like joining up with us and having fun. Our guild, Ember Solace, is small-ish (~60 people) and lots of fun, and we do Fractals and dungeons several times a week. We don’t really do speed runs in Arah, but some of our members do enjoy CoF p. 1 and HotW p. 1 speed runs from time to time. We kind of have members who span the whole spectrum: people who just ordered the game this week, and people with legendaries, like you. =) We don’t require TeamSpeak, and we enjoy just hanging out.

We’re on Tarnished Coast, like you, and kindness is incredibly important to us.

We’re actually specifically designed to be a safe haven for people who tend to face a lot of prejudice, including people of color, LGBTQ people, people who speak English as a second language, people with disabilities, people with mental illness, and more. So kindness and diversity are really important to us.

We really enjoy helping members, whether it’s starting from scratch with people who aren’t sure what Karma is or how to work the Trading Post, or if it’s more current concerns like the recent balances between different builds in PvP or what’s going on with the latest patch.

We run dungeons regularly and have PvP opportunities, too, including an upcoming 2 v. 2 tournament. We’re casual and friendly, and we genuinely care about each other.

Hiya, distantfire! How are you liking mesmer? I’ve played around with it a little bit, but end up going back to engi, lol. Anyway! I think you’d like my guild, Ember Solace. We’re on TC like you, and although we’re PvX, we have a strong sPvP section (we have a PvP Officer who does extensive sPvP and is hosting a 2 v. 2 sPvP tournament soon — there’s still time to sign up). We also do Fractals regularly. There are groups who do Tier 1’s for fun, groups who do Tier 1’s and 2’s for relics, and some people who are looking to put together a progression Fractals group. Plus some of our individual members do higher tiers and love asking people to come along as a casual thing.

We do require 100% rep (with the exception of bank alts, TTS, Gkittenil we unlock all missions, and family guilds to keep in touch), and we have an application (to weed out trolls). We’re a casual guild, but we do still have serious players who want to hone our skills and learn more about improving. I’m not sure what kind of size you find reasonable, but we have 59 members, with 20+ online every evening during peak times and around 5+ online during non-peak times. We also use TeamSpeak3.

If the missions are all you need, there’s a guild on Tarnished Coast called [GC] Guild Commendations, and they run Guild Missions several times a week so people can just get commendations. I’m not sure what their contact information is, though… I guess you could ask in game.
