It sounds like you might like my guild, Ember Solace. We’re a PvX guild on Tarnished Coast (NA) with 70 members (at the moment). We do a little bit of almost everything, including PvP. Our PvP Team hosts special events on Monday nights and Friday nights, with lots of casual PvPing throughout the week and weekend, as well. We also have a custom arena for things like dueling and teaching the maps.

Plus, we still do dungeons and Fractals. People are almost always willing to join in a low-level Fractal, and we also have a Progression Fractal group that does 30+ Fractals on Sunday afternoons (plus plenty of opportunities to do high-level Fractals spontaneously, too).

Just a note for MrPureCarnage and hashmonkey: your guilds are both on EU servers, and people on NA servers can’t currently group with people on EU servers. So if an NA player joined your guild, they wouldn’t be able to come to dungeons with you, hang out in town with you, do PvP with you, etc. Just guild chat. Just a note! =)

I’m always happy to point people to LGBT guilds, so I’ll keep both of your guilds in mind whenever I see someone looking for an EU LGBT guild. ^^

My guild, Ember Solace, sounds like a great fit for you and your friends. We’re a casual PvX guild on Tarnished Coast, with about 70-ish members and regularly-scheduled events.

We do Guild Missions on Saturdays after reset (all except Guild Trek, which doesn’t give commendations), and we have frequent dungeon and Fractal runs, as well as a Progression Fractal group that currently meets on Sundays.

Most of our members are your age range, and we don’t have any required activities (just a policy that members log on at least once a month). Most of our events are in EDT evenings, and we have some PDT people who play late, too, so there are lots of friendly faces around for grouping.

We use TS3, and we also have lots of social activities. We’re currently doing trivia, iSketch, and a writing workshop (for the writers in the guild who’d like to get constructive feedback), and upcoming we have an anime movie night, a book club, and discussions about starting a table-top group. =)

Welcome to Guild Wars 2! There are definitely a lot of amazing things in the game to spark that sense of wonder. (I’m still finding things that make me feel that way, and I’ve been playing for a long time.)

From your description, I really feel like my guild, Ember Solace, would be a good fit for you.

We’re super active, and we have regularly scheduled events every day of the week (mostly in EST evening time). We’re great about helping new people, and we’re very patient about explaining fight mechanics, taking things slow, watching ALL of the cut scenes, etc. (Plus, I’m a big fan of run-on sentences. =P )

None of our events are required, so you never have to worry that the game is really a job. We do have an activity policy, but that’s just having members let us know if they’re going to be gone for a month or more. We’re 100% rep, and we also have an application, but I promise it’s not about gear or level; it’s a way to weed out trolls so we can keep the guild a safe space.

Oh, and we have a great RP Team (led by Noodle, with Mitha and Squiddy helping) that hosts fun events (both in-game and on the forums). And we do team PvP and a dash of WvW, so whenever you’d like to explore that, there’s an option.

Welcome to Tyria! Guilds are definitely a good way to go for exploring the game. I know you’re looking for a guild on Gates of Madness, but if you’re not planning on doing much WvW (or you’re willing to transfer), you can be on any server in the same region (such as North America).

If you’re okay with a 100% rep guild, then my guild is PvE and could fit what you’re looking for. We’re Ember Solace, based on Tarnished Coast, and we have regularly-scheduled events every night. Just to give you an idea:

Mondays: Intro to PvP (sPvP in our custom arena, teaching skills)
Tuesdays: Killing Tequatl, then Trivia later
Wednesdays: World Boss Train or Musical Map Completion
Thursdays : RP events (in-character dungeons/jumping puzzles, tavern RP)
Fridays: Team PvP (queues against non-guildies), then usually farming later (Orr, SW)
Saturdays: Guild Missions (Bounty, Rush, Challenge, and Puzzle)
Sundays: WvW Havoc

Lately, we’ve also had someone hosting Living Story achievement runs on Wednesdays or Saturdays. People have spontaneous dungeon and Fractal groups, along with random sPvP and other activities.

We’re on the smaller side of mid-sized (72 members, with about 15-30 online during peak times), so I’m not sure if we’re what you’re looking for, but we’re very active and do the kinds of things you listed.

Hiya, Eethy!

Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server, and there are thousands of guilds here. =) However, things have gotten a little complicated since the introduction of the megaserver system.

Previously, there was one copy of the map that was the “real” copy, and then there were overflows. Everyone from the “real” copy were all from the same server, and then overflows had people from all the different servers of a region (like North America).

In those cases, once you got onto the real copy of the server, everyone was from your server, and you could do things like… walk around Divinity’s Reach and see a lot of people RPing in /say.

Now, with the megaservers, there’s multiple copies of the map, with no “real” copy vs. overflows, and you’re put on a copy of the map based on complex algorithms that take into account your guildmates, people on your friends list, people in your party (if any), the activity level at the time, etc.

That means that there’s no longer really any Tarnished Coast maps, like Divinity’s Reach, where people from TC hang out and RP. Server essentially only matters now for World vs. World, like Grimwar mentioned.

From your description, it sounds like your best bet would be to try these two things:

1. Try to join a PvX guild that has RP events, and/or
2. Use GW2 RPers to find RP events or RP partners.

If you’re interested in trying #1, I run a PvX guild (based in Tarnished Coast) with an RP Team (Noodle and Mitha) who host lots of fun RP events. We have two open forum RPs right now (with private forum RP available to people who want it), and in-game RP events during the week. Last night, Noodle and Mitha hosted an in-character run of Crucible of Eternity: Story Mode. Mitha also wrote an amazing guide to the lore of GW1 and GW2 to help people get caught up or figure out plot points, etc. (There’s YouTube videos linked to illustrate!)

If we sound like a promising option, please check out our forums. If you register, you can see most of our GW2 sections (not the RP, to preserve RPers’ privacy), and you can get a feel for us to see if we might be a good fit. (I know that a lot of people make that claim, but we have a several trans people in the guild and in leadership, including me, the Guild Leader. We also have several people who identify as neurodivergent, and we have a whole topic with dozens of links in the RP section about how to respectfully RP a character with a mental illness.)

I saw your original post back when you were looking for PvP only, and I didn’t reply because we’re a PvE guild. But since you’re interested in PvE (and plus, since we’ve got an awesome PvP section), I’d like to suggest my guild, Ember Solace. I know Beorn Saxon mentioned us (thank you!). We have several trans people in the guild, including me, and we’re a very safe space.

It sounds like what you had envisioned pretty much describes my guild, Ember Solace. We’re a PvX guild on Tarnished Coast, and we are incredibly friendly and open-minded. There are some specific things we have that I believe backs that up. First, here is a quote from our Purpose and Principles (which every member is required to read and sign):

Ember Solace:

We are dedicated to being an affirming safe space for everyone at the margins: people of color, women, people from the LGBTQQIAA* community, people with disabilities, people who speak English as a second language, and more. If you are uncomfortable with people from these groups or if you are uncomfortable refraining from making prejudiced remarks, Ember Solace is not the guild for you. Our commitment to being a safe space is paramount. To this end, we do not allow any racist, misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic, or other prejudiced attitudes or comments. This carries across all means of communication in the guild: the forums, in-game systems (e.g., guild chat), and TeamSpeak. We believe all people deserve respect.

So we definitely don’t allow any slurs or using someone’s identity as an insult. Additionally, we have a Guidance Team, led by Veronica, with Mand, Aguri, and Mustachio assisting, and they help make sure all new members acclimate to the guild and feel valued, which includes sending welcome messages and helping you feel connected.

Our main focus is on PvE, with some PvP and a little WvW. We have regularly-scheduled events throughout the week, mostly during EST evenings:

Tuesdays: #TacoTuesday (killing Tequatl) w/ Veronica, Tuesday Trivia w/ Aguri

Fridays: Friday Night Fights (team PvP agains non-guildies) w/ Nighthawk & Aerveor, Classes for Classes (learn to play your profession) w/ Will
Saturdays: Guild Missions w/ Will
Sundays: WvW Havoc (as there is interest) w/ Will

These are the “staples” of the calendar, but other events rotate in and out. For example, we had a “Heartbreaker” guild PvP tournament for Valentine’s day (3 teams of 5 in a bracket system, plus a Valentine Party with music DJ’d by Will while we played iSketch and some in-game activities.

Also, we are very interested in helping people achieve their in-game goals, whether that’s doing all the jumping puzzles or getting Dungeon Master (we’d love to help you with Arah p.4) or unlocking traits, etc. All you need to do is ask, and we’ll either gather the people spontaneously to help out, or put something on the calendar.

We currently have about 82 people in the guild, with anywhere from 50-70 logging in each day, and about 15-30 online during peak times. We’re 100% rep, and we have an application (not about gear/AP but to screen out trolls/elitists) and a trial period to make sure you’re a good fit for us and we’re a good fit for you. We also have active forums and an active Team Speak 3 server.

I honestly believe you would really enjoy our guild, and I hope you decide to give us a try. You can get a feel for us by visiting our forums and registering as a new user, which gives you read-access to our GW2 sections. Once you’ve done that, you can browse all of that content, like our activity calendar, our social corner (the V-Day stuff is there), our PvE section, etc. That will probably give you a good idea about our environment and how we treat each other. Hiya! This isn’t my guild, but I hear great things about them: Dragon Empire (on Tarnished Coast, which is Tier 1). They do a lot of WvW but are also PvX. =)

Mitha, as Beorn mentioned, we’re on Tarnished Coast, but if you’re not doing WvW, that won’t really matter. We’re an LGBTQ guild with some allies, too, and lots of people who kind of get “stepped on” sometimes in the world (people with chronic physical/mental illness, people who speak English as a second language, people of color, etc.).

We have a couple of forum RPs going on and some in-game RP, although that’s sporadic at the moment. Jessica and Noodle recently hosted an RP for our charr Ember Warband, and I know there is interest in more in-game RPs.

We’re 100% rep, though, so you’d have to commit to us and only us. Luckily, we’ve got a couple ways you can test drive us. First, you can register on our forums and get read-access to our GW2 sections. That will give you a feel for what we’re like. And then second, if you apply (it’s short and painless), we have a Trial Period so you can decide if we’re a good fit for you.

Welcome back to GW2. Your PvP Workshops sound like a lot of fun, and it seems like you have a lot of experience with PvP.

From what you described about what you’re looking for, I think you might be interested in my guild, Ember Solace. We’re a PvX guild on Tarnished Coast, and we have Officers for different areas of the game, including Nighthawk, our PvP Officer. We’re 100% rep with an application (to weed out trolls) and a trial period (to ensure that we’re a good fit for each other).

We’re incredibly friendly and warm to people, we use TS3, and we have regularly scheduled activities throughout the week. Mondays are Intro to PvP with Nighthawk and his Assistant, Aerveor. Tuesdays are Trivia with Nil (Guidance Assistant) and #TacoTuesdays (Tequatl) with Veronica (Guidance Officer). Fridays were Team PvP until the new matching system made that tricky, but we’re working on putting together things like duels in our custom PvP arena. Saturdays are Guild Missions with Petra (PvE Officer), and Sundays are WvW Havoc Squad with Petra and Nil. We also have Beginner Fractals, Living Story Achievements, and spontaneous dungeon runs (speed runs and full clears alike) that happen throughout the week, usually with Kiore and Spetizer (our PvE Assistants).

I think those things are really awesome, but they don’t really adequately explain how much we care about each other and have formed a guild family. We held a donation drive for a charity this holiday season and had a Wintersday Party with DJ’d music over TS and played games in Hoelbrak.

The problem is that thread titles can look very similar. It’s difficult to tell the difference, sometimes, between a title from someone looking for a guild or advertising a guild. And it’s also difficult sometimes to tell the difference between someone looking for a guild and looking for a group.

I used to read each and every one of the looking for guild posts, but now I can’t tell which ones those are, so I just bump my guild’s recruitment topic and hope for the best.

Hiya, Oz! I think you’d really love our guild, Ember Solace. We’re a PvX guild based on Tarnished Coast with 100% rep, an application, and a trial period to ensure that new members are a good fit for us and we’re a good fit for them. We have 77 members at the moment, with 95% being 21 and up. (We also have a question on the application about maturity and respect, along with a Purpose and Principles that all new members must read and sign.)

We just celebrated our one-year anniversary as a guild (I’ve been playing since beta), and we also have a fledgling chapter in GW1 to help members there who want to run content, get achieves, etc. Most of our attention is focused on GW2, however, with regularly scheduled events almost every night of the week. This afternoon, for example, is #TacoTuesday (killing Tequatl), and we’re having a Wintersday Party on Sunday (and WvW Havoc Squad afterward). =)

I feel like our sense of community is unparalleled. Genuine care for each other is something we truly foster. People feel free to really connect with each other by sharing things like how work is going or how excited they are for an upcoming date or how they just got a new dog.

I know you’re on Anvil Rock, but you wouldn’t have to transfer unless you wanted to do WvW with us. We’re 100% rep with an application and a trial period (to help weed out trolls and keep the guild close-knit).

Also, we’re super friendly and welcoming to people, including beginners. We love explaining things and helping out with everything from Story Mode dungeons to your personal story quests. We have events on the calendar for almost every day of the week ranging from map completion to WvW Havoc to dungeons to Living Story achievements to team PvP and more. We’ve also got some great holiday stuff going on right now, including a Secret Santa and a Wintersday Party on the 21st.

Our PvP Officer, Nighthawk, hosts an “Intro to PvP” event on Monday nights in our custom arena. We use TS3 (although it’s not required), and we’re very active. Hiya, Adam! School definitely seems to be the #1 reason people need to take a break from the game. I know you’re on Crystal Desert, but if you’d be willing to consider guilds on other servers, my guild, Ember Solace, sounds like a good fit for you and your fiancée. We’re a casual PvX guild on Tarnished Coast, and we do lots of PvE and PvP (both tPvP and some WvW). No one is required to transfer, but if they do decide to move to TC, we cover half of the transfer cost.

We’re 100% rep with an application and trial period, and we do have an activity policy, but it’s tailored for situations like yours. Members must log into the game and the forums at least once a month, but anyone can put in a Leave of Absence (post on the forums) if they’re going to be gone for awhile. LoAs are good for several months, and we have many members who put in LoAs when the semester started, and some who have LoAs because of work or computer concerns.

We have regularly scheduled events, usually in EST evening times, and spontaneous events throughout the afternoon and evening. We have 75-ish members, with about 30-55 logging in each day, and about 15-25 online during peak times.

We’re called Ember Solace, and we’re a PvX guild on Tarnished Coast (hopefully you’re on an NA server). We’re 100% rep, specifically to help foster community and help everyone get to know each other and stay committed to each other. We have regularly-scheduled events nearly every day, and plenty of spontaneous events, too. (Tonight was Guild Missions — we’re fully upgraded — and team PvP, for example.)

We love new people, and even have a Guidance Team (Vero, Nil, and Memmi) who enjoy showing people the ropes and helping people adjust to the guild and find friends. =)

Hiya! What kind of size is decent-sized to you? My guild, Ember Solace, has around 75 people, with about 35-50 who log on every day, and about 15-20 on at the same time during peak times. We are fully upgraded with all Guild Missions unlocked, and we run them all (except Treks, since we don’t need merits and they don’t give commendations) on Saturday evenings 8:30 EST. We also keep up buffs for members, especially Magic Find.

My guild, Ember Solace, might be a good fit for you. We’re on TC, too, and we host most of our events during evenings (times are in EST, but I think the range would still work for Mountain). We’re a PvX guild that does a little bit of everything, both scheduled and spontaneous.

This past week (Nov. 17th to Nov. 23rd), we had Intro to PvP (teaching in our private arena for sPvP/tPvP), Living Story Achievement help, #TacoTuesdays (killing Tequatl), Silverwastes events, a Guild Meeting and Party (“get to know you” event and Costume Brawl contest), Guild Missions, tPvP, and Map Completion (Dredgehaunt Cliffs). There were also several spontaneous events, like Arah Explorable and various other dungeons, plus the ongoing social contests (Guess the Number, Riddle Me This) on the forums.

We have around 70 people, but about 12 are on Leave of Absences because of school and work. About 30-50 log on each day, with about 12-20 on at one time. Sometimes people are shy about talking in guild chat, but people are very welcoming and friendly.

We’re 100% rep, but bank alts are fine, and we do have a short trial period to help make sure you’re a good fit for us and we’re a good fit for you.

Hiya! I feel like there’s a story behind the kick-boxing thing that I really want to hear. xD The medical field, eh? We’ve got a couple other people in the guild who are interested in going into the medical field, too. And we have some writers, too! (Including me; I love writing!) We’ve also got an Art & Writing Contest (same themes, but one category for art and one category for writing, with a prize for each) going on this month.
