Hello, Insomnics! First, welcome back to GW2! That idea of a safe space is super important to me, and I tried to find it in other guilds but eventually decided the best way to ensure the safe space was to create my own guild with some friends. Our guild name is Ember Solace, and we’re a small guild that happens to specialize in being an LGBTQ guild and safe space, plus we love helping new members with everything from personal stories to dungeons to achievements. (Right now, we’re really enjoying the Toypocalypse stuffs for Wintersday, but we’re game for a lot of different things.) Heya, Dark Night. It’s not just you. =P It’s really tough to find a good guild home that fits all the criteria you’re looking for. I had a really hard time, myself, so I ended up making my own guild. Since you’re still looking, maybe we fit what you’re searching for? I know you said you’re looking for a guild that already has a good community — if you’re talking about numbers and high activity throughout the day, I’m not sure if we’re right for you. But if you’re talking about a core group of people who care about each other, respect each other, and enjoy spending time with each other (even if there aren’t lots and lots of us yet), then I really think we’re a good fit.

Our guild is called Ember Solace, and we’re on Tarnished Coast. We don’t require anyone to transfer in order to join (although since you mentioned wanting to do WvW, it would end up being important eventually). Here’s some things we’re looking for in a guild:

• LGBTQ
• Specifically welcoming of trans* people
• Regular scheduled/spontaneous events
• Active forums
• Guild Missions

It is specifically important for the guild to be a safe space for trans* (transgender) people, not just gays and lesbians. We’re looking for an environment as free as possible from sexism, racism, homophobia, and transphobia.

Here’s some things we can offer a guild:

• Positive attitudes
• Maturity
• Warm, welcoming presence
• Some graphic skills (signatures, avatars)
• Help (especially on forums) for new people (builds, “what now?” posts, etc.)

We are not interested in transferring servers or guesting to be in a guild on another server, so please do not ask. We are staying on Tarnished Coast. =)

Nice to see another gamer couple — my husband (Dahkeus) and I also game together (he plays Thief, Guardian, and Ranger, while I play Engineer and Elementalist). =) Our guild, Remnants of Hope, is on Tarnished Coast, and I think we’d be a good fit for you. Dahkeus has done his fair share of raiding, and I did very intensive PvP back when I played Ragnarok Online, and we’re both loving the casual feel of GW2.

Remnants of Hope does a little bit of everything, but we definitely do the instances and bosses you mentioned. Becoming an alt-a-holic, eh? =) I thought I’d reply here because Remnants of Hope is an LGBTQ-friendly guild that does dungeons, Fractals, and sPvP (plus WvW).

I’m a member of the LGBTQ community, and we have lots of members who identify along those lines (including several officers). We have a really laid-back atmosphere, with lots of casual activities, but we also have a guild calendar where people can schedule and RSVP for events. If we sound like we might be a good fit, feel free to stop by our forums and fill out an application! =)

Heya, Mimejuice. The LGBT thing caught my eye, since I’m a member of the LGBTQ community, and the guild I’m in, Remnants of Hope, is really LGBTQ-friendly. We have several LGBTQ members, some of whom are Department Officers, and I’m on the Elder Council of the guild.

We’re on TC, and we’re small to medium with lots of active people who play across different times. We’re also very helpful for inexperienced players; we have low-level events often and enjoy helping out guildies by running content or explaining things or just talking. We don’t allow anyone to be jerks to any groups, and definitely not to LGBTQ people. It’s completely safe to be out in the guild, and just the other day I had a conversation in guild chat with some other LGBTQ members about slash pairings in RP, so it’s not something that has to be hidden, either.

We have a solid RP community with regular in-game RP (you can check out our calendar here) and RP opportunities on the forums. We’re definitely not too serious, and we pride ourselves on having fun (like the Amazing Race event we did a couple weeks ago and the silliness that happens in TeamSpeak).

The only thing is that we require 100% rep. I know you said you might hop to other guilds, but since we seem to offer so much (all?) of what you want, I thought I’d take a chance and reach out to you. I’d really love to have more LGBTQ people in the guild. But if the 100% rep thing is a deal breaker, I understand.

Oooh, a wild Ninja appears! Kids definitely do narrow down the playing time. I think you’d really like Remnants of Hope because we actually have an active forum calendar filled with scheduled events, and any member can put something on the calendar and request RSVPs. Ohay, we’re on TC, too! Hiya, Cecil. I’m Aidyn. =) I’ve been playing since beta, too, which says a lot for GW2 that it has held my attention for so long. If you’re interested, I think you’d like Remnants of Hope. I’d say we’re mature (and we have a question about maturity in our application, so you know it’s important to us), and many of us are older. We definitely do Guild Missions (and we have them all unlocked), so it’d be great to have you come get your feet wet with us. I know what you mean about PUGs, but fortunately, we schedule a lot of events on our calendar and any member is free to put something up there and ask others to RSVP, so if there’s a particular dungeon you’ve been wanting to do, you can put together a spur-of-the-moment group or set up a calendar event for it. Tonight, we even have our recurring Dungeon Master event, where members vote on which paths to do so we can all help each other get the Dungeon Master achievement (all paths, all dungeons). Hiya Limelight! I know you said you’d prefer not to transfer, but if that’s an option at all, maybe Remnants of Hope would be an option for you. I definitely know what you mean about avoiding PUGs — nothing can spoil the enjoyment of the game more than some random person who is all cranky when you just want to explore a dungeon at a fun pace. =P Running dungeons is definitely something we enjoy doing. We do spur-of-the-moment runs, but we also have a calendar where any member can put up an event for anything (as you can see, lately we’ve been wanting to do a lot of Super Adventure Box, but we’re really flexible and interested in all the dungeons). In fact, tonight, we have Dungeon Master for people who are trying to get all paths of all dungeons.

I was going to reply to your post before, but I saw that you’re not really interested in a guild that has requirements and regulations. Then I was thinking that we might have different ideas about that, so I’d reply anyway, and you can see if you think it’s not gonna be a good fit.

Remnants of Hope is on TC, but since you said you might be willing to consider a transfer, I thought that might not be a deal-breaker.

We’re on the smaller side (a core group of about 15-20 people who play daily and other members who log in a few times a week), and we definitely have a close-knit feel (part of that comes from our sponsorship program, which involves helping members get to know one another. Also, we have a website, http://www.remnantsofhope.com/boards, although the server is experiencing some difficulty this morning. We have very active forums, complete with games and contests, like our Weekly Caption the Picture contest and our new Weekly Riddle Contest.

As for requirements and regulations, we do have an application and a two-week trial process, which is designed to make sure you get your needs met (we’re doing the kinds of events you like to do, our guild environment fits you, etc.) and makes sure we have a dedicated, tight-knit group of players who actually care about each other. So, it might seem like a lot, but it has worked really well to ensure everyone ends up with an arrangement they like.

I think you’d enjoy Remnants of Hope. We’re a tight-knit guild on the Tarnished Coast server that loves to help out new people. Last night, we had an awesome leveling party in Plains of Ashford (one of the starting zones) where 15 guildmates ran around together and got waypoints, worked on heart quests, and generally had a great time. We’re casual, but we also have dedicated members who form more hardcore groups for some of the activities. Hiya, Pinkhoney. I strongly feel like Remnants of Hope is a safe space for all members. We have several women in the guild, including some who are in officer positions. We have a very strong Code of Conduct that prohibits sexual harassment of any kind, be it in game, on the forums, or in TeamSpeak (we also do not allow any slurs or “jokes” at the expense of marginalized groups). We have many diverse members and a strong community with women and LGBTQ people. Although we do not focus on WvW as much as PvE, we do participate in it, and our server, Tarnished Coast, is currently ranked 4th in NA WvW. I definitely feel like GW2 should be a fun game to play with a great group of people, and no one should have to endure a toxic environment.

We’d love to run the SM Arah to help you two out; we schedule that whenever a member gets to that point of the personal story, so it wouldn’t be a problem. We also do regular dungeon runs, with paths decided by the people involved, and anyone can RSVP.

Hiya! My main is an engineer, and I really love the profession. Do you have a fav yet between the three you’ve been working on? Since you said you’re interested in a guild that does all aspects, I thought you might consider Remnants of Hope. We’re a small-ish (15-20 actives) guild on Tarnished Coast (I know you’d prefer not to transfer, but just in case I thought I’d reply). =) The link above has all of our recruitment information, but to answer what you’re looking for: We do dungeons, explorations, leveling parties, jumping puzzles, WvW/PvP, and RP. We definitely have a tight-knit community that comes from people genuinely caring about each other. While we have members from many different age groups, most players are close in age to you (and many, like myself, are older). We completely understand “real life” coming up and have a section on the forums called Leave of Absence where people can post if they’re going to be gone for awhile. (Also, TC is currently ranked 4th of all NA servers in WvW, so hopefully our server would be able to fulfill that for you.) We do require 100% rep, but we make an exception for bank alts.

(I like your screen name, by the way.) From what you described, maybe Remnants of Hope would be a good fit. We have lots of casual players, and we understand “real life” taking precedence. We’ve got several RPers in the guild, and we have a section on the forums for GW2 forum RP (we’ve got an open forum RP going on right now, set in Queensdale Hunting Lodge), and we also have a Free RP section where anyone can do forum RP set in any universe (we’ve got a Heroes RP going on and a closed Naruto RP, plus some other ideas in the works). Our forums are super active, and we have lots of forums games and some contests (weekly Caption the Picture Contest and monthly Writing Contest).

Hello, SykaX. (Yay for all-night downloads, eh? =P ) Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server (and we’re currently ranked fourth in all NA servers for World vs. World.

I’ve got an Asuran Elementalist, myself, although my main ended up being a Sylvari Engineer. I’d say the choices all depend on your play style, and with the ability to mess around in The Mists to test things out as a fully-skilled level 80, it’s easy to play around and try out different builds and professions before committing to one.

Anyway, since you’re open-minded and have stuff going on IRL, Remnants of Hope might be a good fit for you. We’re on Tarnished Coast, and we do a little bit of everything (more details in that link). We also believe that real life always comes first, so we have some casual players, and we also have a forum section where people can post a Leave of Absence if they’re going to be gone for awhile.

Now’s a good time to come get involved with us, as we have some forum contests going on and great things happening in our PvE. Hiya Blackfrost! Grats on getting GW2. Being new to the game is kind of cool, because there’s nothing quite like that first time of logging in and exploring all these amazing places in Tyria. We also love new people and have regular leveling parties (where we all go run around a low-level zone and just explore, have fun, kill ALL the things, etc.).

Given your description of yourself as a casual player (with young in’s, to boot), I thought you might be interested in Remnants of Hope. Hello, Mimagic! Congrats on hitting 80! I love my Elementalist, but when I tried Engineer, I just couldn’t go back. I still like playing both, though.

But the long and short of it is that we have Guild Missions, we do some PvP/WvW, and we love doing 30-80 dungeons. We just ran AC Story Mode last night with some new members who had never done any dungeons before, and we all had a blast. So if you’re interested, feel free to put in an application on our forums.
