I say sure, why not, it would be nice, but it won’t be implemented because it’s way too strong, the ability to finish multiple players at once in a mere 2 seconds cast? Way too strong.

I’m honestly surprised with the lack of builds that have appeared that abuse the mace as the main weapon, simply because of the fact that it is the only weapon in game that can keep weakness up 100% of the time easily, that and weakness is a lot stronger now.
I was going to try and make a build based around this fact, just haven’t got around to it yet, but your build seems sort of like something i would run, the only thing i would possibly change is the sword/shield to a longbow, but that’s just preference.

It seems that because Ascended gear has a different color, it’s automatically better than exotics.
Newsflash gentleman, Exotics & Ascended gear are pretty much the EXACT SAME.
The difference? The Ascended gear can not be fitted with a jewel. Fit an exotic accessory with an equal counterpart jewel? BOOM the stats are like 1% less than ascended. Is that REALLY a big deal? No. Stop whining.

Yup, NERF NERF NERF. Thanks Anet! So good to see that you give a kitten about what your players think!
Nerf..?
Sorry what? With the minor trait you can only weapon swap every 5 seconds anyway.. How exactly is this a nerf? You could swap it with other things like banners/kits/pickup weapons.
Now you don’t gain adrenaline from that anymore because of the ICD.
I’d consider that slightly too strong imo, if you want Adrenaline, you should work for it, not spam pickup and drop an object.
But thank you for clearing it up for me.

Warriors have many, many ways in which we can build our adrenalin, instantaneously even. If we invest heavily into adrenalin building we should have the power to churn out regular Burst Skills, yes I’m talking about chaining Eviscerates/Killshots/Flurries/Earthshakers. And why not? We would give up a lot trait wise to achieve a build that could do such a thing, even a utility slot and the compromisation of our best heal skill to churn out so much adrenalin.
Flurry, Furious and Burst Mastery is why you should never be able to do that.
Flurry gets 12 hits, Furious makes those give up to 24 Strikes of Adrenaline and Burst Mastery makes sure you only need 20 strikes to get back to full Adrenaline.
Thieves go around doing this, their entire profession revolves around rapidly chaining attacks (a few revolved around the spamming of a select few skills) so to say that it would be OP is absurd. Warrior is in an abysmal state, I would much rather a buff to our offence before a buff to our sustain that will just make us pseudo guardians.
Do you realize that Backstab’s damage is actually less than Eviscerate?
Throw in Signet of Fury, Healing Surge and Berserker Stance and you’re looking at chaining together 4 Eviscerates in a very short amount of time.
Do you realise that Backstab does slightly less damage than Eviscerate, even though the tooltips base damage states otherwise?
Do you realise that Backstab is available much more frequently than Eviscerate due to the revealed buff only being 3 seconds?
Do you realise that in order to Backstab you also have the protection of stealth, one of the strongest boons out there?
Do you realise that Backstab has virtually no cast time?
Do you realise that if traited for, you can have backstab always crit, where-as with eviscerate, there’s always a chance it won’t?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
So, uh, did you read the OP?
…when BAM somebody drops a box on my head. Usually I avoid that, but the insta-6k+ heal, healing turret, flame turret, and net turret all at once… That’s the killer. When it hits, it adds a 2-second stun, but even when it does, the skill is just… Stunning (pun half-intended :P).
And where did you pull this out of, anyways? Suddenly it’s about the CC, and me being stupid to be in the radius of the CC? Really? If you’re going to insult me about it, then at least show me where I said that that was the problem. But don’t go around treating me like some kind of idiot when you know nothing about me.
Sorry but you are an idiot, i didn’t even mention the stun, the stun is negligible at best, if you stay in the area of the crate (Which it seems you are doing) after it has been dropped, after the stun has wore off, and once all the turrets are set up, then yes, you are an idiot.
It’s incredibly easy to take down a supply crates turrets with one person, let alone two, the main reason you’re suffering is because you’re a thief, engineers turrets hard counter you because your AoE is crap, so find another player on your team (After all, pretty sure SPvP is a team game, not a free for all).
I don’t mean to sound harsh, but sometimes you need to put people in their place to help them realize just how wrong they are, and please, don’t say “You don’t know me” because seeing your replies, you just seem to be like every other average thief out there..

PvE content yes, with grenades, you can easily tag mobs in events, it’s even easier with the flamethrower, but i’ve not really tried this in high-end PvE, so i can’t comment on it’s viability, but tagging with it is insanely easy.
Can’t really comment on the others because i exclusively use my Guardian & Warrior for dungeons & fractals, my Engineer is mainly used for SPvP.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
It’s pretty obvious that a lot of classes need some of their utilities & traits sorted out in order to be wanted as part of an organized group.
Guardians, Mesmers & Warriors are always wanted, the other classes, not so much..
Engineer is your first choice for range dps – much more powerful then ele, necro, ranger, mesmer. We have awesome offensive support (blind, chill, cripple, immobilise, poison, vulnerability), decent group support and nice damage.
I dunno which game you’re playing but engineer is definitely not the first choice or better at ranged dps then ranger or warrior. when the grenades hit they do more damage but they are not consistant like the put-you-to-sleep-faceroll nature of rangers or rifle warriors. We are medium range only, we don’t even have a sniper option for our rifles much less a standard range on our pistols.
add to that all of the tools we use to actually increase damage output have been rendered useless like retal, vuln, might when we need to stack them to 25 and above just to make them work well and you’ve gotta problem in pve that no other class has to contend with.
Grenades are amazing simply because they’re moderate damage from range, each grenade (if traited, which it should be) applies vuln for 5 seconds, which in turn boosts your damage, and your groups, and if you have just one warrior in your group, you can pretty much keep 25 stacks of vuln up 100% of the time.

No offense intended OP, i don’t mean to be an kitten, but i can’t think of another way in which to say how stupid you are in saying that the Supply crate is OP.
Your title is completely wrong as well, it’s not a movable fortress, it’s a droppable immobile fortress on a 240 second cooldown which is limited to a very fine area.
If you aren’t smart enough to move out of the area the Crate has been dropped in, then you deserve to take the blunt of the force, Guild wars 2 is all about adapting to your opponents moves, not sitting in them and taking full blunt of the force trying to shrug it all off.
If you sit in the immediate area of a Supply crate drop, then expect to get beat down fast, it’s amazing how many players i see get stunned by my Supply crate drop, move away from it, then immediately run back towards me only to get utterly destroyed by it & me..

Combat Rating: This would be the total over all power of your gear.
by adding “Combat Rating” into the game much like in DCUO.
A number that is a total of all your gear and mod’s……gems, sigil, runes,…etc.
You could not get into a dungon of any kind ….fractols including….if you don’t meet the “CR”…….
Of course other players would still not be able to see this stat all they would know is that you have gear over what is required to enter the dungeon. As for types of course equipment with 3 combat stats would add more to your CR then equipment with 2 combat stat and 1 non-combat stats on it.
Also with having CR’s requirments to enter dungeons, areanet could easy twick things and adjust those numbers….after coming up with the base line for gears.
Lets keep the elitist mentality out of guild wars 2 please, guild wars 2 is a prime example of bring the player, not the gear.
I’ve outplayed people in exotic gear with legendaries on alts with blues & greens.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
And to let it become whoever has more alts gets more chests? lol.
It’s like that anyway, a lot of people have multiple 80s above level 10 in fractals that they use to get the daily reward, i’m one of them, but after a point, you stop doing them because there’s no incentive to do fractals other than skins, and even then, those are 20+ fractals, so what’s the problem? If people want to farm fractals on alts for chests, let them, it doesn’t affect you in any way.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA

Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
This would be a very nice addition, like Ratty said, this would benefit grenade kit using engineers the most, they’re (afaik) the only class that has to repeatedly spam 1 over and over and essentially remove the ground targetting icon from their screen in order for grenades to be even viable.

I’m sure spamming bots will love this idea.
Only allow bots to message players who they have added and who have them added as well, this way friends are able to communicate with each other and it prevents the risk of having bots spam the place.
This also would be great for my girlfriend, she would love to play the game, but she’s on the edge about buying it, she can’t effectively play it at my house, because there’s a fair distance between us, so gaming is what keeps us close, if she could trial GW2, there’s a higher probability that she’ll end up buying it, she doesn’t want to pay £50+ for something that she might not like or might not even run on her computer.

There should be some sort of prestige level that gives you benefits upon unlocking certain achievements, maybe access to new stores with certain skins only available once unlocking a certain amount of achievement points
“But that’s not fair to newer players.” “Forcing us to grind dailies.” “This game is against alts.” I can hear the complaints now.
That’s why i made note of it being merely cosmetic skins, that would not give them any valid reasons to complain, because no benefits are gained over other players without a high prestige level, the bonus would be purely cosmetic, and if they want the skins, they’ll work for them.
Nothing is fair to newer players, the people who have been playing longer will always have more benefits over them, it’s just the way the game is, people who expect to play a game and instantly have all the benefits equal to that of someone who has been playing for months/years+ is just stupid.
And for the last one, people can’t say this game is against alts because of my suggestion, because achievement points are account wide, not character bound.

All servers have a large crowd of friendly people, it just depends on where you look.
I think the main reason as to why the community in Guild wars 2 is so friendly to one another is simply because you’re always encouraging others to lend a helping hand when they’re around, and you tend to do the same, simply because there’s no negative impact on having more people help you tackle certain tasks, where-as in other MMO’s, there is, for example WoW, loot tagging a mob before someone else can cause some hectic verbal abuse, but in GW2, this doesn’t exist.
There’s a much calmer vibe about the gameplay of Guild wars 2 overall, however something i have noticed is that the communities on the more WvWvW orientated servers tend to be a bit more egotistical and verbal than the rest, so if you’re after a friendly server, i would try to steer clear of the T1 WvW servers. (Sorry guys, i’m sure there are a bunch of you on these servers who are incredibly nice, this is just something i have noticed over the months.)

There should be some sort of prestige level that gives you benefits upon unlocking certain achievements, maybe access to new stores with certain skins only available once unlocking a certain amount of achievement points, but for the most part, achievement points should not give any benefit at all, because that’s what they’re there for, just points to show your achievements in the game, that should be reward enough, skins are ok, because they’re purely cosmetic, but magic find would be too huge, and would be next to impossible to balance.
It would either be so useless that it’s not worth the effort at all, or it would force players into farming achievement points for the huge boost it could potentially provide.

This isn’t a perfect solution, it’s a terrible solution.
Housing should be available to anyone and everyone, obviously there should be higher costing housing that offers more benefits and/or looks more aesthetically pleasing.
I feel there should also be a new crafting profession that is able to make furniture & additions to your house, perhaps some of these additions could be things like crafting stations, personal storage chest (For Armor & Weapon skins, alternate armor sets, etc).

Rangers are in an “ok” space, in my opinion.
A lot of the people you see moaning on the forums, as you called it, have valid reasons on issues that need to be addressed because they just ruin the over-all feel of the class.
Take one of the points i bought up in my own thread for example, the sword auto attack locks you into an animation that prevents you from dodging, no other class has to suffer from this, so why should the ranger? It doesn’t make the game skill-based, it makes it a mess.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
The jist of this thread is to simply post ideas that could be implemented to make the Ranger more friendly to play, and by friendly, i don’t mean easy, i mean things that ideally, the game should’ve had from release.
- The 1 handed sword needs the animation locking on skill #1 either removed, or there needs to be a survival based mechanic implemented into this ability, as it stands, it’s just not feasible to have this ability auto casting, which, compared to other classes, is a huge loss in damage, merely because it can be dangerous to have this ability go off when you need a dodge, the animation lock prevents you from dodging, and this can cause a lot of problems.
- The Pets UI, there’s a lot of information that would be helpful to show, that just isn’t being shown, such as conditions on the pet, the buffs the pet has, the actual percentage of HP the pet has, etc, the first 2 are only available by directly targeting your pet, and the latter isn’t available at all.
- An ability to actually revive our pet during combat, even if it’s a long cooldown utility, it would still be nice to at least have the option to revive a pet without having to swap it out for another.
- The positional requirement on Crossfire for the bleed effect to occur, to be removed, the only other class with an ability that does more damaged based on position is the Thief, but they have stealth to assist them with this which makes it a lot easier.
#Masters Bond – Having this remove when entering water and having a different aquatic pet for underwater combat is a real pain in the kitten either have the stacks move other to the aquatic pet, or don’t remove from the previous pet that had them at all.
What are some improvements/changes/Quality of life tweaks you would like to see implemented?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
(edited by JoshuaRAWR.4653)
My plan with replacing Masters Bond with shout mastery was to reduce the cooldown of Search and Rescue, depending on whether or not i felt the group needed it.
I do need help with the sigils & runes though, as i mentioned, i wasn’t sure what to use, so i just went with placeholders for the time being, any advice on what sigils & runes i could be using?

The general Aggro/Threat system goes like this.

So, I’m creating a ranger, and the playstyle I’m looking to achieve at level is (with the increase of pet survivability) support my pet with an array of “on crit” effects, while also being fairly sturdy and putting out a chunk of damage myself.
Here is a link to the build I’ve come up with, as well as the gear i feel would best suit my build/playstyle.
A lot of the traits I’ve taken are fairly self explanatory and just enhance the tools i’ll be using.
The BM line is a no brainer, each trait enhancing the abilities of my pet.
The WS line, I’m not too sure on, I’m not particularly certain if the 8 second reduction on Lightning reflexes is that big enough to warrant choosing it over Vigorous Renewal. I’ll definitely be taking Martial Mastery though.
Finally with Skirmishing, i just took the 2 traits available that boost my pets damage output.
In dungeons i’ll replace Master’s bond with Shout mastery and then replace Signet of the Hunt with either Sic’ Em or Search and Rescue, depending on whether i felt the group needed it. (And of course, equipping a bow for when range is a requirement).
So! What are peoples thoughts? Is there anything that could be changed to further improve the overall output of the build? I wasn’t sure what Runes would supplement this build well, so i just went with orbs.
