I vote for putting all the items suggested here the bing put into the game itself to be obtained in fun ways. Rewards for ‘quest’, drops from mobs, drops from dungeon bosses and so on. You know, use it to make the game better in stead of added more junk to the cash-shop not having it in the game and making it yet another grind to get any of these things.
The cash-shop focus and so putting all that sort of items in the cash-shop in stead of in the game is the main problem of this game.
No, the gem store isn’t the problem of the game, it’s the thing keeping the game going, where do you think Anet get the money to continue the support for it?

How about a system similar to Everquest 2’s? The community makes items and if they’re approved by a large amount of people, they’re pushed into the in-game store and a percentage of the earnings go towards the player each time that item is purchased.

With the mesmer downstate now working regardless of whether or not they have a hostile target, how about doing the same for Engineer, Ranger, Warrior, Necro?
The downed states are incredibly unbalanced and some of them need some major reworking.
Let’s go through which classes have some god awful “saving” abilities, by saving i mean abilities that are often tied to the #3 ability in the downed state.
Here’s the good ones
Ranger #3 – The pet will assist in reviving you, this is very strong, the ranger also still has control over his pets abilities, able to change pets and insta-fear for example all while still downed.
Guadian #3 – Places an AoE healing area around you which heals for quite a chunk and affects you even after you’re back up if revived fast enough, very strong.
Warrior #3 – Self rebirth effect with a guaranteed chance at rallying if you kill a target, much stronger than the other classes due to having access to all your skills for a limited time.
When you compare these 3 to the others
Engineer #3 – AoE knockback with mediocre damage.
Elementalist #3 – Crappy root and bleed effect that was a bait and switch back when mist form was on #3 instead.
Mesmer #3 – A DPS Phantasm that backstabs and has very low hp.
Necromancer #3 – Creates a poison field on the target location which does poor condition damage and can easily be walked out of.
The only class I’m on the fence about is the thiefs, on one hand, you know he’s there, but on the other, it can still drop aggro from mobs.
Now i’m not suggesting that the Guardians, Warriors & Rangers downed states be reworked, they’re fine, if you’re left in the downed state long enough for the #3 skill to be active, it should have a chance at bringing you back by assisting you, my point is that if the guardian and engineer were to be put into the same downed state situation, the guardian would have a much easier time at recovering over the engineer.
I suggest that the 5 classes that aren’t the top 3, have their downed state reworked.
Engineer #3 – Possibly place a turret or chug an elixir that increases the speed at which you’re healed, replace the #2 ability with the current #3 explosion.
Mesmer #3 – I’m unsure what to do for this one.
Elementalist #3 – Summons a water field OR a field based on the last element you were attuned to(?)
Necromancer #3 – AoE lifesteal that continues to channel even through DPS, change the #2 skill to an AoE fear effect that is unaffected by the fear damaging trait.
Thief #3 – Keep the stealth component, but also teleport the thief to a random location within 600-900 yards.

People need to realise how economies work.
People saying “Oh yeah put it in the gem store so i can convert 100 gems to 250 gold.” That 250 gold that you’d be saving for a legendary wouldn’t do anything, if the gem to gold conversion ratio goes up, so will the price of just about everything else in game while also devaluing the value of in-game earned gold.
You won’t be able to purchase a legendary for £8, you’d just be inflating the economy, the expansion (if we’re getting one) should NOT go in the gem store for a long time, people haven’t got credit cards? Paypal, use a debit card, 16 year olds can get those. Can’t get one? Ask a family member to buy it for you, or purchase it from a retailer (if it’s going to be available in retail stores).

I’m making a zerker build on my Engineer for obvious reasons alongside my Condi build I’m going to run in WvW, however every guide i come across says to use Scholar runes, but I’m not a huge fan of those, as i struggle to stay above 90% hp, what would be some other beneficial runes for an Engineer?

• New weapons types (Great Axes, Whips)
• Expanded access to weapons on all classes (Necromancers being able to use swords, etc.)
• At LEAST a non-kit melee weapon for engineers and a power based cleave weapon for necromancers. (Dagger doesn’t count.)
• New dungeons
• Conditions or power based stats reworked so we can eliminate the zerk meta that plagues dungeons, or even encounters that encourage conditions over pure power.
• New race/class would be nice, not expecting one though.
• Better in-game guild management, calendar, guild halls, message board, ability to send mail to all guildies at once, etc.

I understand you’re having a problem and i know how frustrating it can be when you just want to play the game, but Guild wars 2’s launcher is by far the best Launcher i’ve ever used for an MMO.
Blizzards often has a majority of info on the launcher not load.
SoE’s launchers for every game they’ve ever made has been laggy, inconsistent and poorly designed, often making it very hard just to find the launcher options.
Anets is simplistic and works well, never had any problems with it personally, other than when my Firewall has been blocking it or during prime time when there’s a new patch released, and that’s just because of stress on the servers.

I’m all for rewarding tokens which can be spent on boss specific loot, it’d certainly eliminate the luck factor which needs to go for certain aspects of the game.
I don’t think rewarding players for a loss is ideal though, if you fail the event, I personally don’t think you should get anything.
Make it a daily thing too, otherwise the loot would be far too common from people just hopping maps.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Again you are speculating you are causing yourself false hype. You may be disappointed in the game because of it.
The Living Story can open vast areas up introduce more races and professions without an expansion. The problem is they have been quite small in that. They did change the game quite a bit though. Without the expansion we have received new ways to play, a Living story that is permanent. A new dungeon (Twilight Assault), Fractals, Southsun Cove, a couple pvp maps, changes in wvw, Edge of the Mists, Ascended crafting, and the list can go on.
What has not happened is a new profession, or a new race yet. It can happen though that is the point with a built in Expansion called the Living Story.
As i previously said up top, they wouldn’t trademark it if t was merely just the Living story, by trademarking, that means they intend to put said product on sale for the general public.
Plus, if it was just the living story, they wouldn’t have put an in-game trailer to make sure that pretty much everyone finds out about it, as well as providing a time and date to find out more information.

I’m 99.99% sure it will be an expansion, they’ve never trademarked any of the previous Living stories, none of them had their own Logo designed around them and we wouldn’t have received the quote “living story was just the beginning”, nor would they be expecting a dramatic increase of income mid-way through 2015 if it wasn’t an Expansion.
Edit: We also wouldn’t have received what is effectively an in-game trailer at the end if it wasn’t going to be an expansion.
Edit 2: They’re not going to kill of Destiny’s edge, just because you see their Airship get destroyed doesn’t mean they went with it.

Least favorite: Engi (this class will work you out for even most basic things, like healing. If u wanna master healing turret u gonna have to spend time practicing or watch guide.
Just sounds like it’s not your cup of tea really, personally i find “6, 6 F1” very easy.
On topic though!
Engineer is my most favourite, incredibly versatile class, capable of doing just about anything, quite sturdy too, able to look very steampunky as well which goes with the feel of the class.
Ranger is my second, the only thing holding me back from this class is the god awful main hand sword. That animation lock NEEDS to go.
Least favourite is warrior, this was my first 80, and my main for a long time, but now that I’ve played other classes, i just can’t go back to the warrior, it just feels stale, simplistic and boring.

What I’m wondering is what happened to the promo pack that had a watchwork pick, chop-it-all axe, I think a thresher sickle, and some gathering boosters. Seems like it was only up for a day or two tops. Did anyone else happen to notice this bundle, or maybe it was listed in advance by mistake and then pulled?
If i recall right, i believe it was up there for a week for only 1800 gems? Something like that.

I may be wrong but interestingly ive found that if you press the skill for necro downed state fear and THEN the thief stealths it still casts and hits him.
Makes sense, as channeled skills still go off the same way, if you cast the ability while they stealth, it’ll still track them and deal damage.

I honestly do not believe they will nerf the Celestial amulet per-say, but i think they WILL nerf other aspects.
For example the D/D Cele Ele is strong because of it’s obscene amount of might stacking, it’s not hard to reach 25 stacks solo, which in my opinion, shouldn’t be possible.

This build is good, but honestly, if you want to Bunker, play Guardian. They are the best bunker class by a significant margin.
I agree, to an extent.
A condition based class would rip a guardian to shreds, where-as a bunker specced warrior would probably have an easier time with them.

Have it apply 0.5 second immobilize upon reaching your target, this allows you time to land the blow if the immobilize lands, and gives the target (if a player) the chance to react and dodge before you’re close to them, meaning they can still dodge it, but if you get close to them, you deserve the hit.

Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Hey guys, 3 days headstart player here, I haven’t played the game in a while (about 5 months, tried to return 2 months ago, but didn’t stay long due to a backlog of other games i had).
I’m looking to start playing Guild wars 2 again, been jumping between classes just to get a feel for it again, and I’m enjoying it, want to get back into it, however I’m stumped for a class.
A lot has changed since i last played, thiefs seem to be not as viable as they once were, warriors have been nerfed, elementalists are now top tier, engineers are viable, back when i last played, it was the opposite for everything i just stated.
So now i’m at an impasse, which class fits what i’m after?
I’m after a class that is viable in all forms of play, however mainly dungeons, high level fractals and WvW roaming/flipping camps.
Other than occasionally following the zerg on my old computer and getting roughly 0.2fps, i haven’t really done anything in WvW other than the map completion quite some time ago.
So i’m hoping some of the more experienced players for the current content could provide me with some information that would help me gravitate towards a certain class.
Cheers!
Ps: Ignore the classes in my signature, i don’t mind creating a class i haven’t got already if they’re what i’m after.

Hey guys, trying to return to the game however i’m at a bit of an impasse, i can’t settle on a build or class.
I’m leaning towards the Elementalist because of the high damage capability, however I’m not fully certain if this class is able to provide what i’m after 100%.
I want to be able to offer support (Which i can do via might stacking build), which is great, however i also want to solo flip camps in WvW, and do some roaming (Which weapon is used is not important, so long as it’s viable and fun).
Is there a build which allows the Ele to perform the level of gameplay i’m after, or am i better off with another class?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
That was an excellent and well written post, just the thing i was after Neko, thank you very much for the post (and help) it seems i’ll be enjoying my Elementalist some more then when I’m finally back in game, which is fantastic news, love the class but back when i was playing, they were pretty sub-par and never really wanted.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
So, the last time i played, warriors were braindead op and one of (if not the) top tier damage dealer and elementalists were considered garbage.
However, that seems to not be the case anymore, apparently warriors are one of the lowest tier damage dealers (is this even true?).
Now, I’m not looking to play a warrior, always found the class stale and boring, but that leads me to believe that if the warriors damage has been drastically reduced from top tier damage, to low tier, then what else have i missed?
Just after some quick info as to what’s performing best, what’s not, what’s normally wanted for dungeons, what’s not, those sorts of things, hopefully someone more versed in how Guild wars 2 currently is, can fill me in, so i don’t have to browse the forums for hours and put the pieces together.
