Visual clutter reduction = BAD

in PvP

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

READ THIS: Because the Guild wars 2 PvP community are a bunch of morons who can’t read, i am complaining about the reduction of visual clutter making DH traps in a large scale fight in Spvp almost INVISIBLE.

They’re easily avoidable, yes. But when you get caught in one, Anets “reduction of visual clutter” has made this kittening stupid.

I can tell when there’s a DH in a 5v5 fight, because I’m suddenly knocked down everytime i try and move 1 foot. By a trap, i can’t even kittening see.

Stop reducing visual clutter, no ones complained about it for the past 3 years, if someone wants to see less visual clutter, they should turn their kittening graphics settings down.

Mine were intentionally high so i could SEE what was going on, what was hitting me, now i can’t even do that.

I really don’t want AI introduced into this game in future elite specs because guild wars 2’s AI is just sloppy.

Probably the difficulty of playing the class to it’s most potential compared to the other classes.

With that said though, it’s currently the highest parsing class in game with the viper/sinister build.

Tell me if i am wrong guys . What do you think ?

I think you’ve been playing an engineer for a week and are now calling it your main.

You’re very wrong, on a lot of things, pretty much all the traits you mentioned are useful or have a place somewhere.

You listed Glass Cannon, Shaped Charge and Shrapnel as being Meh/Useless, are you even aware of what the current highest DPS’ing build IN GAME uses?

I’d highly recommend you just delete your post, because you’re making a fool out of yourself.

You haven’t needed to do that for a while now, they lowered the cooldown on the bacon to 6 seconds.

I’m curious what the exploit was, now that the hero points been disabled, could we know what it is? It’s not like we can abuse it now.

How to Balance between PvE & PvP

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

Abilities need to have different coefficients depending on which target they are hitting.

For example, if an ability is hitting a player (be it in WvW or SPvP) It will have different scaling and coefficients compared to what it would do upon hitting a NPC.

Let’s put it like this.

Let’s take an ability that stuns and does damage, for example the Shiro Elite, Jade Winds.

Under normal situations this ability does the following:

Damage: 399
Jade Duration: 3s
Number of Targets: 5
Radius.png Radius: 600

Here’s what i intend to change.

This ability will remain the same when attacking an NPC, however upon this ability hitting an NPC, it’s base damage will instead be either 75% of the current amount (this is just an example) and the stun duration would be half (again, just an example)

This would be a fair bit of work but would allow for the game modes to be balanced and tweaked without effecting another area of the game.

This would allow anet to fulfil their intended design of “mixing up the meta” for PvP without screwing over the PvE component of the game.

Would it be confusing for new players? Not really. A new feature could be implemented in which you could switch between the coefficients (just the tooltip, to see what the numbers are) by shift & right clicking on an ability, this would switch between showing you the numbers it would do against an NPC and player.

In the long run I feel this would help the game tremendously, as it allows Anet to balance on area of the game without any fears of it effecting another, thus screwing up the balance elsewhere, it also frees up design plans for more bosses because you don’t need to take into account the unintended effects that PvE or PvP changes on abilities could have on the opposite game mode.

Thoughts?

Right.

Salvaging the tier 1 backpack piece gave me 5 of the dark things.

However, with that out of the way, it’s a skin. A legendary skin. It’s not meant to be easy or cheap, it’s not an item you need, it’s an item you want.

And just to clarify, it’s a 100% drop chance on armor and weapons, you can’t get them from rings, and there’s a chance you’ll get them from accessories, i don’t know the exact numbers though (i got 4 from salvaging 11 ascended accessories from the guild commendation merchant).

Condi class/build for raids?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

When it comes to coming up with the build, I should be all good for that.

However, the team I’m in is lacking condi damage for the red boss in the first fight.
I’m currently a condi necro and it’s not capable of putting out the Condi burst as well as i know some other classes can, so I’m going to be changing class to help better the team.

I’m wondering what class would be better to hop towards? I’m leaning towards a viper engineer as I know that is arguably the highest DPS’ing class in-game right now, on top of providing a truck ton of burns to condi burst.

It also (due to how versatile the engineer is) opens up the ability for me to spec as a tank if needed due to how sturdy they can be with the right traits.

Would this be a smart choice?

Unrealistic Legendary Collections

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

Arena net made it very clear Legendary collections would be hard. Their intent was to keep the value of precursor.

Except they’re not hard.

Right now, if you plan on doing a precursor collection, not only are you going to be running around the world, browsing the wiki, figuring out where to go, bashing your head against a wall trying to get certain requirements which are completely random (getting crystalized by the shatterer, seriously, who thought of this one?), but to top it all off, you’ll be crafting mats which (if you sold instead) would give you the gold needed to just buy the precursor and you would be saving gold and time.

For example, I haven’t got the exact numbers, but let’s put it like this.

Let’s say Storm takes 700gs worth of mats to craft, which, if you gathered yourself, that took a long time, you also did some scavenging for certain pieces for said collection.

But, oh, would you look at that, storms 400g on the TP.

So what would you rather do, sell the mats/ascended crafts for 700g, buy storm and have 300g profit, or craft it, and lose out on 300g?

Reaper worst sPvP specializzation?

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

Reaper shines the more players it’s fighting, but at the same time, that also hinders it because it can get prioritized and taken down quickly if the opposing team is smart, but if left unchecked.. Arguably the most devestating class on the battlefield.

Not sure i agree with people saying that the Reaper is weak in 1vs1’s either, I’m able to completely destroy people with a condi setup while remaining insanely tanky at the same time. The only class that’s actually given me any problems are well played and smart daredevils, but then the majority of the time they can’t kill me, i just can’t keep up with them running away.

Necro Minions - Tank Build - Stronghold Map

in Necromancer

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

No offence, this is just an insanely easy build to play, that’s why you were performing well with it, you weren’t really playing it the best.

Everytime you went into staff, you literally just went #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 and mashed anything that was off cooldown when it came to your weapon utilities. (I even saw you mashing 2 & 3 on the greatsword at the same time more than once, cancelling the #3 early).

You didn’t use Staff #4 smart at all, not once did you use it to dump conditions that were overwhelming you, you just used it off cooldown as, what i can assume, a blast finisher to apply a measly amount of weakness, as you always dumped it after staff #3.

Again, I don’t mean to come off as offensive, so I apologize if i come off as harsh, merely trying to give constructive criticism.

Time to Switch to Condition??

in Necromancer

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

Not a fan of the dhuumfire build personally, i feel it doesn’t push out enough DPS, the burns just aren’t up to par with what i was expecting when compared to say, a sinister engineer.

This is what i run
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRUQNAW7Yn0ICV3gN2AO3A0biFcBLuK2FHjQXtAwCIar1BGBA-TxRAABF8AAA4gAYt6PUcFAwW5Hh7PItuBA-e

When it comes to the utility skills, BIP and CPC pretty much always stay there, the signet I’ll swap out for Rise if i feel the damage reduction is needed, or Suffer if i just feel like throwing out more chills (Though it’s really not needed, it’s nice as an emergency condi-transfer if you kitten up the rotation/priority).

Chilled to the bone is a more reliable way to break defiance bars, and is a nice AoE stun on a pretty short cooldown if you tag 3+ mobs with it, although the Minion works too, Lich form isn’t really worth going for in this build.

When it comes to the traits, there’s not really any I would consider changing, apart from Augury of Death or Chilling nova in the first reaper tier, you could probably get away with using Chilling Nova if you’re only using the elite shout, or none at all, either trait works, i tend to use Augury if I’m running 2 shouts, but from what I’ve seen so far, the extra chill just simply isn’t needed, and the damage is.. ‘Meh’.

Basically what i do is when CPC & BIP is power, i cast them together on the mob, then immediately follow up with a dagger #4 or staff #4, then just go on with my usual rotation, attempting to stack as many conditions as possible, saving Death shroud #5 for the stun mechanic, and immediately following up with a #4 for the 12+ poison stacks and 10+ seconds of chill.

It’s incredibly effective, I very often get bleeds ticking for 6k+, poison ticking for 2.5k+, torments ticking for 2k+ (had 1.6k once on a stationary target) and of course, the chill which is pretty much a flat damage of 500 or 900-1000 on a target below 50% hp.

It’s very, very nice, definitely capable of rivaling a zerker build i think.
You can also just easily swap one of the top 2 trait lines (either works, though curses would be best) if you need to pull out the AI for some agro magneting, obviously your DPS takes a dip, but the rate at which they tank is insane.

The build isn’t overly reliant on death shroud either which is another plus, meaning you have more room to use it as a Safety net.

I run a very similar build except chose Chilling Darkness or Plague Sending and Close to Death over Signets of suffering. I use the healing shout, BIP, Epidemic or Well of Darkness, and Sig of Locus (I don’t like running slow but will switch out as needed). I also have Rabid gear instead of Sinister. I tend to stay up easily in comparison to my friend who runs zerker and still perform very well damage wise. Q1: Why Plague Signet? Since you have 2 other condition removal (#4 on both Staff and dagger offhand). Q2: How do you feel about your survival since you run sinister gear. I’m just wondering because I’m thinking of switching to sinister.

Q1: If you mean the Plague sending trait, it’s really the best choice there, as the Fall damage reduction trait is practically worthless outside of maguuma before you get a glider, and the only other trait is applying chill on blinds, which I only really have access to one blind on the dagger #4, as i often swap out Signet of spite, so it’s not really worth slotting that trait, especially as I have an abundance of chill anyway. The plague sending trait is just something to fall back on incase you make a mistake or get overloaded with conditions (or, and it does happen, a boss reflects your dagger #4 at just the right moment.)

Q2: I haven’t really had any problems at all to be honest, given that I don’t really need to camp Death shroud more than most builds, I find i can use it as an extra life bar to fall back into if things go wrong. In open world, I’m able to take out champions that others may require 2 or more to take, out on my own, without any problems.
In fractals, because I can keep pretty much everything but the bosses permanently chilled and weakened, that vastly increases your survivability, making toughness/vitality gear, really not neccessary in my opinion.

Completely agree, necromancer was my least played class the entire 3 years i’ve been playing, wasn’t a fan of it, only dabbled in it when it came to be required for the PvP daily and felt like switching things up a bit.

Then i started trying out a Sinister build roughly 2-3 weeks before HoT launched and i fell in love.
HoT launched, I unlocked reaper, the only thing that happened was my built just became stronger, and when i finally get around to doing CM so i can grab another 6 runes of aristocracy so i can grab the viper set, I’ll only be putting out even more damage.

Don’t get me started on the minion changes either, those things are amazing now! Actually worth slotting occasionally in pve!

Rob and the team really outdid themselves with the Reaper, probably the best designed elite spec so far.

To make GS PvP viable...

JoshuaRAWR.4653

The dagger simply outperforms it damage wise in PvP, the only thing the greatsword is really good for (in my opinion) is nightfall and the extra target it can cleave.

Even in PvE i simply do not like it, it’s too slow, i know it’s meant to be that way, as it’s meant to feel like a bit lumbering beast, but it just doesn’t seem to put out the numbers i’d expect from a slow attacking weapon.

I mean, compare it to the revenants hammer, same sort of feel, slow weapon, except it can be used from range, and hits roughly twice as hard.

Greatsword just simply needs a damage boost so as to stay with the theme Roy/Robert wanted the weapon to have.

You have some information wrong, they decreased Bosses HPs in all of Fractals. Fractals don’t take any longer than they used to. They are much faster in most cases.

Not true, past the 60 mark, the bosses have a stupidly large health pool, so much so that you honestly wonder why.

It’s not challenging, it’s just a time sink.

Un-nerf dungeon rewards.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

There is literally zero incentive to do them now, look at the LFG windows for each and every single dungeon, it’s dead content. They didn’t need nerfing, they weren’t bringing too much gold into the economy, they weren’t preventing people from experiencing the new content in HoT, it was content i could do ON TOP of the content that is in HoT.

I used to enjoy doing dungeons each day for the rewards and the experience, I ran with a guild group that were the same 5 people each and every day. Now? We haven’t touched them since the nerf, why would we? There’s not enough incentive for the time spent compared to Cough farming kittening chests in silverwastes Cough

Seriously, fire your economist, because I’m under the impression he’s to fault for the changes to fractals too.

Didn’t you want to split some of the rewards from Dungeons and put them into fractals and raids? Yet since HoT launched, Fractals have received a DECREASE in the daily income you could get from them, especially due to the fact that we have to buy bloody keys for an obscene amount to in turn, get loot that results in a loss the vast majority of the time.

Your economist doesn’t care about the in-game economy, he cares about making it as bad as possible so that we’re pushed into buying and converting gems for gold.

I do hope so, because i really want to experience the entirety of the content laid out for us, but being gated behind a large chunk of people performing well is just really irritating to me, as I’m used to doing most things on my own or in a small group.

Just did the meta events in every map again, and I can confidently say, that they’re too overtuned for the community to handle.

Too many people refuse to listen to advice and it’s actually starting to get aggrivating, because these events can be ruined by just 3-5 people not knowing what to do and upscaling everything to obscene levels..

Could we get a mouse over icon on the map that when hovered over, pings the locations of the adventures? Also a nice icon to determine whether or not they’re active too would be nice.

Mainly talking about the Auric Basin event, but the Dragon stand one is relevant too.

Namely where it requires you to get all of them down within the same set time period.

Organizing a random map of pugs to do something like this (in a game as casual as guild wars 2) just isn’t happening often, there are the rare random strokes of luck, but other than that, it’s really not going to happen all too often, and is that a problem?

Another thing with the Auric basin Meta event is the difficulty of the sides is way out of proportion, east and north are pretty much what you would expect, relatively easy, not too challenging, possible. However south and west are a completely different story, unless you have an organized group there, it’s going to fail, no doubt about it.

Should these events be changed/tweaked, or is it just simply a matter of the community not being good enough? Is that a problem that they’re not good enough? Vinewrath was done splendidly i think, and i believe the future meta events should be based around that, there’s no ‘everything must die in x window’ but you’re rewarded if the pre-bosses do all die.

As the meta events are now, it’s incredibly easy for just a group of 2-3 people to entirely screw things over for the rest, simply because they either do not know what to do, or just feel like being trolls.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, i want hard content, i love it, it gives me room to improve and think of ways to progress, however i think making the meta events the way they are at the moment for an open world map where anyone can turn up, is just pretty bad.

Also to add more on dragons stand, I’ve noticed that a lot of people are doing the meta event chain up to the part with the 3 bosses that need to die around the same time, and are leaving because the mobs in that area give no experience, and that’s what most people are after.

Sinister Reaper Build Question

in Necromancer

Posted by: JoshuaRAWR.4653

JoshuaRAWR.4653

Hey guys, currently running a scepter/dagger & staff sinister build in PvE that works a treat, my group love me in fractals as I can break the defiance bars insanely fast, and am able to pretty much spam cripple/chill & weakness on any mob that hasn’t got a defiance mechanic.

I’m very close to unlocking the reaper, and I’m having trouble choosing what to pair with the reaper specilization.

Reaper is definitely one of the choices, and i would very much like for Curses to be one, as I use a scepter, and Lingering Curse is just too good.

Which leaves me with the last slot.. what on earth do I put there? Blood Magic, for the lifesteals? Spite, for the easy might and vulnerability? Or Dhuumfire for the spammable burns inside death shroud?

Then there’s also the question of do i swap my staff for a greatsword..?

This is the build I’m running right now:
