A Dynamic Solution for Energy's Problems

There needs to be a way to generate energy, and I’m assuming we’ll get a trait like this with one of the remaining 2 trait lines we yet to see.

However I’m not sure i like the idea you have of Weapon skills generating Energy and not being usable if said skill would cause energy to be over 100.

I feel the only thing that needs to be done is Energy on each individual skill needs to be looked at and adjusted accordingly, and the energy requirements for heals needs to be removed.

No class has a resource attached to their heal, neither should the revenant.

As it is now, the revenant needs to watch out for both Energy AND potential interrupts when casting a heal, every other class in-game only has to worry about interrupts.

Rev Staff in next beta

I personally liked the staff a lot, my only issue was with #2, it’s just.. wonky, the cast time is too long for it to reliably hit an enemy while casting, it just boils down to pot luck.

I’m not sure yet if people genuinely like stronghold because it’s good, or because it’s something new and different to the conquest chore we’ve had for the past 3 years.

Personally I’m really enjoying Stronghold, but again, I can’t tell if I like it because I think it’s good, or because it’s just something different.

Your best bet is probably to form a new guild on your own. Yes, you have to start from scratch, but I doubt auto-demotion is ever going to be implemented. It’s just too abusable.

I don’t quite follow, how would an auto-demote feature that demotes someone if they’ve been inactive for say, 3 months, abusable?

We have not released all weapons and legends for the Revenant yet. Right now there is definitely a gap in the playstyles offered as we haven’t discussed the more pure DPS focused setup yet. soon tm.

We know you haven’t released all weapons and legends yet, but it’s blatantly obvious what they are because you always stick them in the client ready for people to datamine.

What's wrong with celestial

Except it doesn’t.

It does for classes that have access to a large amount of burns because this is stupidly increasing the damage output of these classes.

Celestial amulet is fine where it is, burns are not, burns are making celestial much stronger than it is, because if you’ll notice, the only classes actually making good use of it, are engineers and ele’s, both of which can pretty much spam burns.

Well, every class can be fast.
Matter is what you want to do in PvP and how you can contribute for your team.

When I go for full bunker/heal Guardian I’m focused on sitting on the point and not getting out of it – so I don’t chase people.

I support teammates with heals, boons and additional ressing from downed states – sometimes with little bit of dps, but somehow I turn out to be focused soon enough anyway.

Except revenant.

Yeah if you make a ranger, you’ll hear animals in the background, it’s a pretty neat feature that i picked up on not too long ago, so I’m not sure if it’s been there since release and I’ve just never noticed it or not.

I don’t play with an engineer, but however said that weapon swapping would be annoying and clumsy for the elementalist was completely and utterly right.

The feel of the Revenant

I will not lie, i have no idea how a game should be balanced, especially on a scale of Guild wars 2’s.

With that said, its very obvious when something is either overperforming or underperforming, the latter is the case with the Revenant

Albeit we have not seen everything the class has to offer, what we have so far is just not enough for the class to remain viable with what the other classes are currently doing, both utility and damage wise.

Which leads me on to the topic at hand, the revenant feels fantastic, the playstyle, the appearance and the overall feel of the class is great, it plays fantastically! It really does, I was playing the class for an hour, and i was loving it, it was an insanely fun time, but it just was not performing as much as i’d hoped the class would, that’s not to say I want the class to be Overpowered, I want it to be the sort of class where people would go “A revenant would be pretty cool for this path or in this match”.

They have problems, and I’m hoping Anet will see the vast amount of complaints that are going on about the class and either throw us a bone and let us Beta test Shiro & Glint soon, or acknowledge that there is indeed a problem and revamp some of the traits or give us the ability to play with an additional weapon slot to see if that aleviates some of the complaints players have.

Another big difference between eng/ele and rev is that eng and ele are ranged by default. Not having melee isn’t a problem, but in some situations not having range can be, and hugely so.

And with HoT Engi is getting a Hammer with Elite Spec. So should he now get a Weapon Swap ability?

No because they can equip grenades or mortar kit. Revenant can’t.

Revenants currently doing roughly 45% of the dps even the second lowest DPS dealing class currently is..

That’s shameful and poor.

Revenants insanely unbalanced, and albeit we haven’t seen the other 2 legends or traits, as it is now, the class is just kittenpoor and needs changing, bad. The damage is horrible.

Looks good on paper, fails miserably in execution.

They shouldn’t be removing content to begin with.

It’s like the raid on the capricorn, it was removed because it wasn’t poorly balanced, just remove it from unranked/ranked queue and let us play it on our own servers.

Stop removing content that someone has worked kitten and just leave it in the game for us to play with.

Imo, they’re just trying to fix the most game breaking bugs atm. You know when they fixed the guardian symbol trait and Grenadier, which was quite important. It was good that they disabled the traits before fixing them, however they can’t delete mesmers from the game temporarily and there’s no other quick solution.

Lets face it, ANet works slow and we’ll have to wait for the actual balance to take place.

That’s fair enough, but then why didn’t they do the same for Blinding dissipation?

I think there’s going to be more QQ about revenants being OP than there will be revenants being stomped.

Few people understand how revenants work and will have a difficult time countering them.

Try and think back to when you first started to pvp and had a warrior almost insta-kill you with bull rush + 100b, or a thief backstab/stealth troll you, or a mesmer just sit still and auto attack you to death while you killed clones. We’re going to see the same thing with revenant until players learn what they’re up against and how to counter it.

That’s because people didn’t understand the mechanics of the game

A revenant is going to be a free kill because they severaly lack stun breaks.
Let’s also not forget that they have no weapon switch, if they’re using a melee weapon they have barely any gap closers and the few they have can actually be dodged preventing them from making any ground at all.

Elites have no recharge time, they can be used to just stun break and immediately released to save energy…are you sure that you know how the game works?

I really don’t know what to say if you think that Revenants are going to get a stun break that costs no energy and has no Cooldown.

Also I’m pretty kitten sure that Empty vessel takes effect on legend swapping, not using an elite.

As the revenant is now, the entire class is just one big gimmick.

p.s you can’t release elites to save energy anymore, so have fun with that apparent 50 energy stunbreak.

p.p.s regardless, we’ll see just how under/overpowered revenants are tomorrow, I’m guessing it’ll be the former.

Oh tripledot guy. You play the same game? I mean gw2? You say s/d thief wan “ultra” imbalanced, but everyone played d/p and now they are still. Now s/d is almost unplayable and u can call it balance (lol). As for the meta, I know you like to play air+fire and energy on every build you play, you dont need to think, just blindlessly take them.

Also why is blinding dissipation still allowed to blind through dodges?

I’m all for the class being viable, but this class is just simply too strong, they’re not fun to play against at all.

Everytime there’s more than 3 mesmers in a game, i just leave instantly, because it just will not be a fun match, they are genuinely sapping the fun out of the game for anyone who is not playing one.

Trap rangers are far from legit, they weren’t even legit when you could throw them. AOE condi cleanse exists, and good teams use cleansing properly. One condi burst, then traps are on a 20+ second cooldown , that makes you a target for how long just spamming axe/d sword/t or shortbow skills since you wouldn’t run longbow as you’re specced for condition damage. Also, keep in mind you can bring one stun break with traps at maximum so good teams also know this and will just stunlock you down and kill you first after they’ve dodges through your or traps OR cleansed the condis from traps via ele / necro / enemy ranger (condi signet active > pet swap) , etc etc etc the list goes on in terms of active cleansing … This is why condi builds are simply not that good in general right now in top tier at all… But people think trap ranger is legit, dude…. the node bunker regen 1v1 condi build isn’t even legit because you fight for 2+ minutes and get +1’d easily by a thief and you most likely will not beat a good cele ele with it which is who will assault that point anyway.

Please , against hotjoin heroes yes traps can work but against good players and competent teams, traps are very easily countered.

Also , range counters traps , so the idea that ‘traps beat pu’ is out of the question as you can just range them with mesmer greatsword (GS range = 1,200 autos) so you can just out-range your opponent, which any good mesmer will do.

Taunt needed to be fixed, but the thing is , nothing that negatively effects the ranger has been fixed even things way before pre-patch and no matter how many forum posts it takes, they still don’t which brings me to the conclusion that they just don’t have the resources to fix them at all.

We’ll be waiting MONTHS for fixes on these things that negatively effect us yet there have been 2 top priority hotfixes to patch things that help us and then this patch took care of the rest of them which is fine , but there are also negative bugs (10+ , and they are major) that hurt us so much in the same way and it’s ridiculous.. We will even be waiting until way after HoT comes out which will stall even more of those fixes coming into the picture because it will bring more fixes needed for the elite classes and balancing , etc.

This is the frustration that most of the rangers have to deal with, and it’s similar with other classes as well but no where NEAR the amount that ranger has to see / deal with.

Either way, people will STILL cry about taunt, whether it’s evade-able / blockable / immune or not… It will still get cried about because ranger is using it and it will be nerfed even more because of it.

Only idiots throw down all their traps at once.

I initially had high hopes for this class, and was really eager to play it and make it my main based on the lore alone, but the more we’re shown about the class, the more my hype’o’meter goes down.

There’s one thing the revenant is lacking that we have yet to see on the class, and it’s a pretty big thing that will make or break a class in PvP and WvW, and even some dungeons.

Stun breaks.

The revenant (Currently) hasn’t got a single one.
Any revenant is going to get absolutely destroyed by anyone that has any shred of sense in PvP, which leads me onto my next subject.

The lack of gap closers. The only gap closer shown so far is on an offhand weapon, and it can be dodged, yay?

Why is it that this class currently has no stun breaks and no reliable way of attacking ranged targets (if he’s not wielding a hammer)?

You may think that Elementalists and Engineers do fine without weapon swapping, but Engineers have kits. This gives them multiple ranges of combat, from melee to mid range to long range.

The elementalist, even when using D/D has a kitten ton of gap closers and teleports.

The revenant? Jack kitten. This class NEEDS weapon swap.

I apologize if any of this didn’t make sense, what i was writing made sense to me, but re-reading it, i can see how some of it was written poorly.

A lot of what anet promised to deliver to us during the year of 2013 was probably pushed to the sideline and included in HoT to make the expansion seem more “bulkier”, example being the Precursor ‘crafting’.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more features crop up in the expansion that we’ve been promised over the years.

However, saying this makes it appear as if i hate Arena net for what they’re doing, and yes, i kind of do, they’re so slow at releasing content updates, and it seems they can’t do anything at all when they’re focusing on an expansion, they can’t even give us existing content again to hold us over until the expansion is finally released (SAB, Queens Pavillion, etc), but at the same time, Guild wars 2 is a great game, it’s just starting to lack a lot of content compared to many other MMO’s out there, i have high hopes for HoT, and i bought the expansion in hopes that it’ll rekindle the flame the game once had, but if it doesn’t, i shan’t be spending any more money on Guild wars 2, on future expansions or the gem store.

Just curious as to what you all feel this classes role (in it’s current form) will have.

I’m looking at the traits we know of so far, and it looks like the revenant has the potential to be very strong at throwing out outgoing heals much like the Guardian and elementalist, but (from the traits) he’s looking to be much more potent with this.

Which Class?

Looking for a class that’s effective (and loved) in WvW Zerging but also a competent roamer, never actually done WvW before (only rank 16 to get the gift for legendaries) so hopefully some more advanced WvW’ers could give me some information.

When it comes to zerging, I’m going to want to provide support/utility, but I’ll want to be getting a fair few tags in zerg fights too, but damage isn’t going to be my main want.

Oh! Forgot to mention, I’d rather not play a Warrior or Guardian as i have played both of those classes to death, so a new change of pace would be very welcome (and preferred).

Hey everyone.

As the title might suggest, i can’t decide between playing a Warrior or Mesmer, I want to dedicate my time to only one of them, hence why I won’t be playing both.

My main focus is going to be dungeons, world bosses, fractals & WvW (Though not as much as the previous 3)

This leads me to choosing one of these 2 classes.

With the warrior, the might share build is incredibly lax and easy to play, meaning it’s not as hectic, relatively easily, and can easily carry pugs through dungeons.

Where-as with the mesmer, you’re more reliant on your group, you can’t really cheese them through with 25 stacks of might, but it brings a lot of reflects to the table.

When it comes to WvW, my main intention will be to solo roam, flipping camps and occasionally following the zerg train, meaning either class would be suitable for this, though i feel Mesmer would be more useful here due to the veil & portal placements behind enemy zergs as well as Condi cleansing via mantras.

Just after some suggestions & recommendations really to help sway my choice.

You just made engineer worthless

Grenadier was causing grenades to pierce, do damage on the piercing, and then additional damage when landing.

Grenadier caused grenade barrage to function like that, but it also had the unintended effect of throwing 13 grenades instead of 7 for some kittening reason. (How does this even happen?)

But because of the piercing effect, grenade barrage had the potential to hit 26 (albeit rarely) times, when each grenade can hit for about 1.5k, i think you can see the problem.

Grouch, the community must give you a lot of flack for being an engineer main and on the development team. Everyone thinks your bias towards engineers affects decisions when it comes to balance. But confirming this bug, taking action, and having a prompt plan to fix the issue has really made me feel otherwise. You’re doing a good job.

Yeah, not like it almost took him 2 weeks to do this at all.

Why does Mesmer feel sloppy in Dungeons?

Just feels.. weird compared to the other classes, maybe it’s phantasms and the weapon swap feeling different to other classes, but i just can’t seem to get the hang of the class in dungeons, am i perhaps, doing something wrong?

Running the meta build with s/f/ /p, but if i haven’t got the signet slotted that increases illusion health by 50%, they just drop constantly, is this how it’s meant to be?
