I’d say it’s a result of the stale balance currently festering in the game.
As it is right now, you can literally just look at the teams composition and you’ll know who’ll win based on the classes they’ve got.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
UA is fine.
You can’t really compare it to blurred frenzy, pistol whip or Hundred blades.
Blurred frenzy comes with invuln frames, but the mesmer also has a lot more going for it in terms of survivability.
Pistol whip dazes the target and is spammable, also gives the thief evade frames, on top of the stealth they have access to.
Hundred blades is just flat out insane damage, if it hits 3 enemies at once, it’s a guaranteed 25 might with the right build setup too. It’s damage (and the other abilities mentioned so far as well) will also be doing significantly more damage the more enemies they hit.
UA? It’ll always do the same amount of damage because it does not cleave, but rather splits the damage between any mobs that might be present. The more enemies present, the less effectiveness you’ll see UA actually do, it’ll still be doing the same amount of damage, that much is true, but instead of just bursting down a target and taking them out of the game, it’ll just be whittling them all down.
Is it strong on one target? Debatable, just double dodge, block, distort, stealth, invuln..
Unyielding anguish however, yes, this needs to be changed so that stability prevents the warp.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Lol, really?
You want access to 40 weapon skills at once? Get out of here.

There will be a fair amount of changes that I have planned and that have come out of the feedback from this last weekend.
Can we get some insight as to what these changes might be so we can give you our opinion before they’re implemented?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Heres what I would suggest:
Norn: much faster than other races.
Asura: smallest but slowest.
Sylvari: more vulnerable to fire and ice.
Charr: second fastest, but couldn’t wear certain helmets or footgear.
Human: no pros or cons.
So norns are flat out buffed.
Asuras, Sylvari and Charr are nerfed.
Humans stay the same.
I think you play a norn.

Then that confirms that Shields will never see use on Revenant if the skill stays as is, and also that break bar on players needs a ton of rework.
It’s still better then any offhand in pve. Both OH sword and axe would lower MH sword dps, just wasting energy, and both have far inferior defense/support capabilities.
Shield is not perfect but it’s still out best OH, and gives 65 armor for free. Also #4 is pretty decent and #5 gives som heal at least.Still I believe #5 was supposed to be a “panic button”, but it’s not. The root and the very short breakbar force you to think very carefully about when to use that skill.
Seems you’re unaware of just how much damage the axe #4 skill does.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Energy cost on weapon skills needs to remain simply because of the way Facets work on the Herald now.
BUT, and this is a pretty big but. The energy cost on said weapon skills is way too high, they should be things like 5 to 8 energy, but some of them cost 15+, it’s a bit ridiculous.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
It really needs the defiance barmechanic removed.
It should just be a flat block w/ heal combined. The Revenant lacks “oh kitten” buttons, and this would be a nice one, but as it is, it just makes you a sitting duck and WILL leave you even more vulnerable.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
After messing around in Spvp with some builds, i came to a particular build that i was hoping would be possible.
The might stacking build.
Turns out, it’s effective, the Revenant can easily stack 25 might on himself (and i believe, on allies as well, it’s hard to tell, i wasn’t able to test it properly)
The Playstyle
I was camping glint the entire time and not utilizing my other legend just to test the effectiveness of might stacking, other legends can be swapped in and out depending on the encounter and the utilities you’ll need.
First start the encounter by casting (and maintaining) Facet of Darkness and Facet of Rage
Auto attack the target enemy and use Unrelenting Assault and Frigid Blitz when able.
When Energy starts to run low, stop maintaining Facet of Darkness and cast One With Nature to keep your Fury up, during this period try to restrict yourself to auto attacks only, this allows your energy to get a bit of a boost, once Facet of Darkness is off cooldown, maintain it again, and repeat.
Doing this, i was able to keep Fury up permanently and manage my Energy enough to still take advantage of the sword and axes weapon skills, allowing me to maintain 25 stacks of might easily.
Note: I was able to keep 25 stacks of might without using unrelenting assault at all.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Lol they’re bringing in a new merchant that will sell “now unobtainable recipes and items” for karma, so I’m pretty sure they’re just restricting how much players get karma in order to give this merchant a bit more life.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Good, how it should be.
Certain in-game items should only come from raids as it gives prestige to the content.
To those screaming “I don’t like raids though!” Well then I guess you ain’t getting the rewards it brings.

nothing set for me, besides one thing
Weapon – Staff
everything else will be build around it!
I’ll probably be using the staff a lot more than I’d like too as well, probably swapping the sword/axe for it, although that seems to most definitely be the highest damaging weapon combo for the rev, the staff is just really nice aesthetically, and i really want that staff master achievement, finally able to get it on a heavy class.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
It’s great.
The one thing I wold change is Fierce Infusion to Cleansing Channel. It’s so easy to get enough fury that it’s just a waste of a nice, reliable cleanse. It still works though if you really want it.
I really can’t see any gaping holes or anything. Good luck testing it.
The reason for Fierce infusion is so that when you Swap to the alternate legend, it’s normally going to be a legend you won’t want to be sitting in, but just utilizing for a quick scenario or panic heal, so the Fierce infusion is there for the added benefit of gaining the fury while still in said legend, so you’re not going to be stuck without 40% crit chance until glints back off cooldown.
Granted there’s facet of nature, but it’s the best looking choice for me still if you have to stay in an alternate legend for a while (Ventari on projectile heavy fights for example)

/spit emote please. heh.. heheheh.. heheheheheheh
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
What do you feel it will be?
I’m leaning towards something like this.
Sitting at 49% crit chance with an additional 40% from fury with the herald trait, the reamining 10% coming from a warriors disc banner putting me at 99% crit chance.
Swapping out the staff for Hammers in situations where range is needed (Grawl fractal) and mostly just camping glint.
The second legend will depend on the encounter, though mostly sticking with Jalis as the heal is probably the strongest.
Strength runes over Rage as the fury bonuses from Rage aren’t really needed if you have perma fury from glint anyway and other players.
Feedback?

I’m not sure about challenging, but if the living story continues to progress as it has, I imagine we’ll see more “Achievements to unlock after completing it” type deal.
I would like some solo challenging content though, much like Liadri.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
What about all that temporary content we were able to experience?
SAB? Living Stories? Holiday Events? Pre-june 23rd style builds? Raid on the Capricorn? WvW events?
There’s also the fact that we’ve had 3 years to gear up our accounts and take advantage of numerous promotions and sales and have received the ability to gain items that are no longer in the game or won’t be again for a while.
I bought an NES game back in the 90s that cost me probably around £40. That same game is now selling on Ebay for £1. Am i entitled to a refund by the publisher for the remaining £39?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
It’s never too early for theorycraft
It is when we don’t even know what situations we’ll be pushed into in the raids.
We don’t know whether the encounters are lax enough to warrant everyone camping in zerker armor and go full glass cannon or if certain players/builds will need to build more defensively to accomodate certain phases of said fights.
We don’t know if certain players will need to build for a more control oriented playstyle, mesmers focusing on dazes and stuns more-so than damage for example.
Nor do we know if healing roles (E.G Water ele, staff/ventari Revenant) will be highly sought after.
For all we know, nomad could become the meta for raids.

Pretty sure it’s just your friends. I haven’t heard of a boycott anywhere.
I haven’t had to put any money into guild wars 2 other than the initial cost for 3 years.
If i was still playing WoW for those 3 years, that would’ve cost me £323.64, so i think it’s obvious where i stand on buying the expansion.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Would kill the market.
Just have universal runes (Traveler, Ogre, etc) on the Legendary gear and carry Exotic or Ascended equipment for more specialized roles.

That does seem like a logical choice, didn’t think about the Mastery track, not sure about the consumables part though, I guess we’ll just have to see how it pans out and hope it’s on Anets radar.

Because as it is currently, with the fractal level rising to 100, that’s quite a chunk of agony resistance that will be needed, and, well.
I don’t particularly want to spend about 50k+ gold on agony infusions just to be able to do frac 100.

The only things i’d like changed, is the stability change on Jalis reverted to what it previously was and Ventaris tablet auto summoning upon entering the legend.
And possibly the Ability to move the tablet being instant cast meaning it can be used while doing something else. It’s just too slow as it is right now to be used to actively counter things, by the time you swap to ventari, bring up the tablet and pop the projectile destruction ability, a ranger or whatever else is firing at you would’ve finished.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
currently this trait increases torment duration by 33%. I like the idea of this condition trait line improving your torment. the problem with this is that there is a cap of 100% condition duration, and this trait makes that too easy to cap. this trait +40% duration from food = 73% duration for torment, that only leaves 27% duration left for runes and sigils. the tormenting runes sound like they were made specifically for a condi revenant, yet in pve and wvw these runes make you go above and beyond the cap on duration making the whole rune set feel wasted, and this is not counting sigil of malice or a future +20% torment duration sigil like they have for every other condi.
my suggestion, change this trait to a +20% torment damage, rather than duration (similar to what ranger traits do with bleed.) you could also change what condition food does, as +40% duration is way overpowered for food, making it pretty much required for any condition build. or you could just take away the +duration cap (as I have no idea why there is one anyway.)
I agree that the trait should be changed to +20% increased torment damage, i don’t agree with the +40% condition duration food being removed.
There’s -40% condition duration food that can be utilized to counter the effectiveness of said food, it’s up to the opposing player to decide whether they want to utilize it or not.

Elite specs are Anets method of expanding on classes without having to implement more classes.
There will be more specializations in the future and they’ll each be adding new weapons into the mix, once we’ve run out of current weapons, i imagine we’ll either stop getting elite specializations or they’ll start to implement new weapon types.

Gonna insta level to 30, then 50 tome it. Have full bags, ascended gear and otherwise ready to go currently.
First priority when HOT comes out is to unlock Pact Commander. I know HOT is the big deal, but auto loot? Get the !@#$ out. This is priority #1 and I’ll spend my time working on XP in Tyria working up mastery XP there any way I can (world completion, events, whatever) with +50% boosters and +100% boosters all saved up and ready to go.
After that, whatever. WvW, HOT, etc all good.
I don’t understand everyones admiration for the pact commander line, it seems nice if you plan to help other players, but i really do not understand where the fandom for the auto loot is coming from, is pushing F every now and then (if you haven’t rebound it) really that hard? I imagine if i had Auto loot, i’d still be smacking F out of habit.
But for me, it’s boosting to 80, getting any excess hero points if needed, then going straight for the new HoT content.

If you don’t want to use the meta, you don’t have too, there’s nothing forcing you to run zerker only builds.
If you want to run a build that isn’t in the meta without the fear of getting kicked from a group, just start your own group, it’s really not hard.. I run non-‘meta’ builds all the time, i start my own groups and occasionally even join others, i never have any problems.
You can’t blame players however for naturally flocking to what is the most effective, and in this case, it’s most zerker builds as they’re capable of clearing content the quickest. As we all know, time is money.

I have a feeling that there will be unique armor sets for each specialization that’ll be granted to you upon unlocking said elite spec.
Way i see it happening is upon unlocking an elite spec, you get mail from an NPC saying something like “congratulations on further progressing yourself as a x, here’s a set of unique armor to show our appreciation” or something, i dunno.
