Can’t deny that it’s too much, either the damage needs to be toned down, or the range needs to be reduced to 1200. 1500 via the trait is more than most classes can deal with.
Even engineers are having their range reduced on grenades, albeit they were kittene at that range anyway.

It does make me wonder what the point in the level appropriate dungeon gear is.. (The level 35 gear from AC, 45 from CM as an example) it’s just.. useless.

I see two problems regarding difficulty in content.
One problem is that Arenanet does not want to create content that is grindy, or gate content requiring you to grind. The reason why Ascended is only 5% better is because you have to do a massive grind to get to it, Fractals is also very grindy. You can consider them endgame, since overtime your gear improve and your Agony Resistance increases.
Another problem is since how all content is not gated by grinding stats (which consumes a lot of time), you can pretty much pub stomp every PvE encounter pre-80.
However, Arenanet has created some content that is difficult, but at the same time very fun. There is a problem, however. Overtime as the difficult content ages, more and more players familiarize themselves with how the boss works, increasing the chance of their win rate (Triple Trouble is a special exception, since I’ve never had the chance to beat it even through multiple tries)
Let’s take an example, Vinewrath. It’s been about 5 months since this little guy has existed, and I’ve ran plenty of runs throughout the months to examine my experience. Between 1 to 3 months being released, it was fairly common to see the Breach and Vinewrath fail. But when mid April hit, I’ve observed that the win rate is pretty high. As of now, I’d be surprised if I see the Breach fail and really, really surprised to see Vinewrath fail.
You may create the argument “Vinewrath and the Breach is always easy for me!”, sure. However, it’s not the same situation when you have 100-200 people on your side and having enough coordination to beat the boss.
I would absolutely love Arenanet to create these giant, epic bosses and to have them absolutely heart-wrenching difficult. It will harden the players, and overtime will make them more skilled, resulting in smoother dungeon runs, better win rate for Triple Trouble (the Triple Trouble boss is perfect for a true endgame boss), and more engaged gameplay. I believe Arenanet has created a mistake by making things easier. Arenanet should gate content by skill and group coordination, not by stats. Why? Because they’re Arenanet. I’ve played Guild Wars 1 (not as much as GW2 now), and while the level cap is 20, consider yourself dead if you don’t have the proper skills and the proper team to beat the content.
When I play Heart of Thorns, I want to see players being killed by everything until we’re hardwired to understand the mechanics. The defiance mechanic is amazing, and encourages teamwork instead of zerging bosses until they’re dead. So far from what I’ve seen, Arenanet has stepped their game up in terms of mechanics and difficult (their post-launch bosses are seriously good), and it’s our job to step it up as well.
TLDR: I disagree, OP. Overtime content will become easier as more players learn how HoT content works. Arenanet should gate content by skill and group coordination, not by stats.
i dont agree! if arena net creat the content that you say! The game will scare off a lot of players who are already playing this game! Beside if people are really looking for such difficult content they would be playing another game such as wow! and if you are going the wow root this game will be dead! Because no game can creat wow better then wow!
It wouldn’t scare them off at all, there’s tons of things in-game that these “casual” players can still do.
What about those of us that have sunk hundreds or even thousands of hours into the game? We’re not all content running the same easy content day in day out, we like to be challenged.
As it is now, i can’t think of anything in-game but level 50 fractals that actually require me to be alert, everything else i do in-game can pretty much be done auto pilot, i can pay little to no attention and still do well at. It’s a game, i should be focusing and concentrating, not treating it like I’m playing farmville on facebook by mindlessly pushing buttons and clicking away.

Hard content needs to be introduced because hard content lasts a lot longer than easier content.
If content is easy, you’ll breeze through it the day it’s released, and then what? You’re just doing it over and over again for the next few years.
Hard content? Could take you anywhere from a week to several months to complete, let alone perfect depending on how hard it is and what it actually entails.
You need to accept that this is an MMO, there will always be the possibility that content will be added that not everyone will be able to complete. Millions of people play this game, you can’t cater to all of them.
Guild wars 2 has had easy casual content for 3 years now, the hardest we got was fractals, they were a breeze 2 weeks after launch and people finally knew what to do.
I want something now that’s going to challenge me and can’t be cheesed like Liadri.

9)Gearing/Legendaries

11)Guild MissionsTake your pick. All the above is content available to you right now. Anet isn’t obligated to provide anything else. Especially since we know a huge content dump is coming….

You’re not a veteran, you played the game for a week most likely before your account got hacked, and then it apparently took you a year to recover it?
Your account was being used by a chinese gold farmer? Your account would have more than a level 40 on it.
My friends account got hacked 2 weeks after release and his character went from being level 32 to 80.
Chances are you picked up the game recently in a sale and are fed up of being kicked from groups asking for experienced and level 80 players only so you came to the forums to make this meaningless thread.
Or.. You’re just a troll.

Have to agree somewhat, i wouldn’t really call the WvW changes “special” it’s just watering down content that’s already lackluster as it is.
When i see the word “special” i’m expecting something we haven’t already seen yet, maybe some info about this ‘challenging group content’, but instead, we’re being shown features that are actually being REMOVED.
The problem is how Anet are hyping up these things, they’re overhyping the mediocre content inclusions/changes and putting barely anything behind the information most of us really want to know.
Things that should be overhyped are things like specializations and traits, as these will affect how we play the game.
Lions arch being rebuilt isn’t going to change how i play the game, it’s just going to be a quick 5-10 minutes of “oh wow, that’s cool.”

I really don’t see the point for the ESL stuff, but for in-game tutorials that actually show more about the class? Yes please, might help with the sudden surge of bad players.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Guardian shield needs a revamp, but this would upset the minority that enjoy it as it is (even though it needs it, the weapons bad compared to the alternatives).
Warrior shield is in a pretty good spot, the block and stun are decent and worth using every now and then, shoutbow is what makes the warhorn stronger.
Engineer Shield is also in a good spot and a decent weapon, toolkit shield however.. that’s a different story.
In order for shields to be more viable overall on all classes that use them, the traits that reduce the cooldown of the abilities by 20% need to changed, as it is now, most of them grant this plus a bit of toughness for wielding a shield, the toughness needs to be changed to something else like “Grants aegis on use” or “Grants Protection for x seconds on use”
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Shoutbows more of a support bunker/class that only has the ability to kill someone if you’re dumb enough to stand toe to toe with it.
Back in the early days of this game, you wouldn’t 1 on 1 a bunker guardian because you knew you had no chance in killing him, so why are people doing it now?
If you see a Shoutbow in a team fight, coordinate and pick him off first, otherwise he’s just going to be boosting the effectiveness of his allies.
If he’s standing on a point on his own, either get assistance or just leave him and go +1 somewhere else.
You can’t nerf runes of the soldier because that effects other classes, both now and in the future with upcoming specs.

Ele’s will be getting a sword, at least that’s what’s been datamined.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Simple change.
Implement a “Are you sure you wish to block” feature when you right click block someone, this way you can’t accidently block your friends, now here’s where this would actually come into affect.
Once you’ve blocked someone, you’re not able to unblock them for 24 hours, and while they’re blocked, you’re not allowed to contact them in any way shape or form, be it messaging them via whispers, via say, map chat, guild chat, mail, anything, it’s not possible, they won’t even see your emotes.
This is why i suggest that we’re given a “Are you sure” window when blocking players, because when you’re attempting to join another map of a party member, occasionally you may accidentally click block, so a confirm feature would resolve this.
tl;dr if you block someone, you can’t message them in any way for 24 hours.

Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Work on your zen! I view fighting premades as a challenge! Try to have fun even if you lose, sure winning is more fun, but it’s still a video game, if you’re not having fun even when you lose you should give this mode a little break for a bit!
I don’t appreciate going up against the same premade 3 times in a row (Literally just happened, even after waiting 5 minutes before queuing again) when all I’m trying to do is play the game casually, i shouldn’t have to stick to hotjoin alone because that’s even worse, you meet some of the worst players in that gamemode based on attitude alone.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
There needs to be a solution for it, because as it is now, it’s just annoying..
Sometimes there are times where you simply cannot PvP unless you go into hotjoin unless you can stomach losing constantly to premades over and over again when you get put with brainless monkeys.
Keep Unranked and Ranked as it is now then, and just add a seperate queue where you can only queue solo.

This is the build i normally run.
You can substitute the 2 in Marksman ship to go for 2 in skirmishing, picking up Sharpened edges and grabbing a Rabid Amulet instead of a Settlers.
The final trait in wilderness survival can either be Empathic Bond or Poison Master, depending on how you want to play, poison master if you’re up against a team/players with not much condi cleanse in order to be extra aggressive, or empathic bond for the condi removal, it’s really up to you.
For the second pet, you can pretty much go for whatever works for you, i normally run a drake hound or spider.
It’s incredibly sturdy and puts out a lot of damage, especially if you get up close when you use your elite and throw down an axe #2, weapon swap while standing on the enemy and throw a shortbow #2 and #4, it just unloads a crap ton of bleeds.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
1. Post in the ranger forum.
2. Learn to not click your skills.
3. Try to dodge specific things and not dodge randomly.
4. Only use skills when you need them, you often use SoR and LR when you could just get away with SoR and a dodge.
5. Maybe not play hot join.
6. Maybe change your build: war horn, shortbow, sharpening stone, and the bear, are generally seen as not the best options for ranger. After these, you can start to do more next level things like learn to control your pet, then they become much more valuable and you can even learn to combo with them.
Pretty much this on everything but number 6, specifically the part about the shortbow, the shortbow is pretty beast in a condi build, at least it’s what i run on my condi ranger, i run axe/dagger & shortbow and it’s insanely effective.

nothing other than removing a condition affects condi damage.
And minus condition duration and traits such as Engi’s AR..
Damage =/= duration
They still tick for the same amount of damage regardless of what food or traits you run to reduce duration.
100 damage is still 100 damage
Just to clarify on this, the overall damage will not be the same, as the condition will lose ticks if minus condition duration effects are in play, but yes, the condition will still tick each time for the same amount of damage.

Reaper shouts differ from warrior and guardian shouts in that they focus more on harming foes than they do on bolstering allies.
I’ve highlight the part I think most people seem to be missing. ‘More than’ does not equal ‘instead of’.
More than still implies less options for support.
If they focus more on the damage, the beneficial effects applied will be lackluster at best (if any) to compensate.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
People keep crying about Reaper when Reaper is going to be part of the new Meta because of this spec. While Guardian got nothing. You all need to calm the hell down.
Guardian got nothing?
We must’ve watched the wrong streams then, because as a guardian main, i was very very impressed with what I saw.
So far, I’m not impressed with what I’ve read about the necromancer.
Why exactly is Reaper going to be a part of the ‘new meta’ as well if you don’t mind me asking?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
We do not know if shouts only effect enemies.
Reaper shouts differ from warrior and guardian shouts in that they focus more on harming foes than they do on bolstering allies.
The other 2 i’ll give you for now, but with Anets track record, and the Necromancers complaints of too many abilities containing long cast times only for Anet to add even more to the class, I think it’s fair to say my comment still stands, necromancers will still bring only damage to groups.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Anet dosent want us to do that, we known this for 3y so why still ask for it… maybe the Increased dmg + cleave + shouts can give you the PvE tools u want (i dont do PvE) but buffing allies never really bin the concept of Necro
It’s not buffing allies, it’s everything else..
Thieves bring stealth, mesmers and guardians bring reflects, warriors bring banners, ranger brings spotter and spirits, engineers can even provide stealth and a truck load of vuln.
Necro’s pretty much bring nothing but damage, and it seems this isn’t changing.

D/D ele is good, people are just favouring scepter ele because it destroys people with barely any telegraphed attacks.
So, just because you see Shnicky play fresh air ele in tournaments automatically means everyone is playing Fresh Air? O.o
No, i don’t watch the tournaments, I’d rather be playing the game than watching people play it.
My experience is from playing the game, not from watching streams.
There is way more dd eles than fresh air.
What i experience in games says otherwise.
Then you have some weird experience. Or can’t tell fresh air from dd.
My experience is pretty normal thanks. Oh, yes, because Scepter ele and D/D are so hard to differentiate between.
I’m also curious as to what these “upcoming nerfs” to ele’s are, and these buffs that you assume Thief and mesmers are getting.
If you’re talking about what we’ve seen with the new specilizations and the way traits are being handled in HoT, i’d hardly call them buffs when pretty much every class is being changed drastically.
