I’ll try to lay down as much information as possible, to help me gain the best advice.
I’m not sure where to go next, I’ve got a level 80 Guardian, Warrior & Thief whom I’ve all played extensively on, and I’m not sure which class i want to level next, I’m looking for something new to level, but I’m not sure what to focus on.
The problem i have is that the remaining classes all have a really bad rep (Minus Mesmer, I’ve never tried playing one, but i understand they’re hard to level up to level 40, where they then start to shine) which is very off putting, so i was hoping to get some ideas from the community as to what i should focus on next.
I’m more of a solo player, i do a couple of fractals every now and then, at least once a day minimum, same with WvWvW, i prefer to solo and do my own thing, not a fan of following the zerg because my PC can’t handle it, so something that fits these playstyles would be best.
Because of what i’m after, from what i can gather, a Necromancer is definitely not what i want to play next, as they’re not a very strong 1 on 1 class, which leaves me still having to decide between 4 classes, 4 classes which i know very little about.

Regardless of what people say, GW2 needs some form of progression system, there’s one in WvW, why not PvE too?
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Honestly, i’d say no, not at the moment.
The game just lacks that end-game experience that Anet said GW2 would have, i believe they stated that the real game started once you hit 80? That’s not the case.
Once you’ve done world completion on just one character, and done all the dungeons, there’s really not much incentive to keep you playing, you can’t go back and do quests in old zones, because once you’ve 100%‘d a world, there’s no reason for you to go back there other than dungeon access, jumping puzzles, harvesting & guild missions.
There’s not really an incentive to do dungeons once you’ve fully completed them, the only exception being CoF p1, simply because of how good it is for gaining a quick sum of gold, the rest are tedious, long, and fairly difficult to find a group for because of this.
World vs World eventually becomes the same and gets boring incredibly fast (This is my opinion) and just isn’t the type of experience i’m after, so i can’t comment on this fully.
SPvp is again, the same as WvW, if this is your cup of tea, then by all means enjoy it, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
GW2 lacks a real end-game experience, it has little to offer once you’ve done world completion, and it then makes leveling up another character a bore, because you’re doing the exact same zones you’ve already done, without any alternative places to level,.
Guild wars 2 is a good game, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot it needs to address.

I’m not saying there is no form of Elitism in GW2, there most definitely is, i just feel the implementation of a DPS meter will further increase the elitist mentality.
Look at WoW with recount/skada, people get ridiculed in dungeons if they’re pulling too low DPS, they’re then kicked and a replacement is found, this will be no different in GW2.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
You raise a good point, but it will also enforce that mentality even more, players will be requesting that people play a specific trait setup in order to get as much damage out of them as possible, i’m not sure if it’s worth the risk if i’m honest, small things like DPS meters can completely ruin a community.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Why aren’t the PoI’s in dungeons a requirement for World completion? What about the mists? They’re more in the world than World Vs World is.
Are you listening to yourself? You’re complaining that there isn’t more stuff to get but the battle grounds in WORLD vs WORLD are what have you crying?
I’m not complaining that there isn’t more stuff to get, i was using it as an example, it makes more sense for Points of Interest in dungeons to count towards world completion, but they don’t, so why does World Versus World? It’s a completely different shard that isn’t even visible on the world map unless you’re there, meaning it’s a completely different region entirely.
And as i’ve said, i’ve tried World Versus World, i do not enjoy it, it’s not what i enjoy, it’s a mess, joining 50 people as they zerg a gate, barely being able to tell what’s going on while mindlessly smashing 1 with a ranged weapon on a gate isn’t what i call fun, if you enjoy that, then good for you, but it’s not for everyone.
Making 90% of world completion completely available to solo players, who can do it in their own time, at their own pace, then forcing the remaining 10% to be fully reliant on the server you’re on is just a stupid idea.
You should NOT force players into content they do not enjoy to complete something that was previously 90% Solo based.
I’d appreciate it if you’d read ALL of my posts before commenting again, because you’re not even coming up with counter arguments, just merely saying “Don’t like it don’t do it”, when i’ve provided valid points as to why it’s a stupid game mechanic and needs to be changed.
Going by your mentality, if you don’t like my suggestion, don’t post.

Implementing the DPS meter will bring an elitist mentality with it, people will start asking what your average dps is, and people will start getting restricted group access because they’re not doing as much DPS as someone else could.
So it’s a no thanks from me.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Exactly Taril, if the Places of Interested and Vistas were accessible without owning the keeps, by having the places of interest unlocked when you walk up to the front gate of each keep, and the vistas in a different location would probably be a better idea.

Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
A lot of you are missing the point, and i can only assume that you’ve either got world completion done, or are active WvW players.
Let’s put it like this, you go through 90% of the game thinking that you can solo 100% of the map, at your own pace, in your own time, without having to rely on other players.
You’re then told at the very last point that you have to indulge in WvW to gain the remaining 10%.
This causes several problems, i’ll name a few.
If you’re on a server that completely sucks in WvW, certain skillpoints, places of interests and vista can take weeks, if not months to get.
You’re reliant on other players in order to get a Place of interest or Vista, as some of them are located in keeps, and with the way WvW currently works, sometimes the active WvW guilds on servers see these keeps as a waste of time and not worth the effort, further increasing the chance that you’ll never get said location marked on the map.
You’re effectively forced into either queuing up and hoping you get into WvW every 30-60 minutes, or stay in wvw doing content you have no appreciation for, or going afk and taking up a slot that would be of better use to someone who enjoys wvw.
You don’t make an aspect of the game based entirely on Solo and actual world completion, then force the player to spend the remaining 10% exploring 4 areas which are not only reliant on other players, but also on the server, and might i add 3 of these maps are the exact same.
World Vs World can have exploration, it wouldn’t make sense for it to not have it, but you don’t tie it to world completion, otherwise why isn’t Spvp tied to it? That has PoI’s in the mists as well, makes just as much sense to have that built in as well.
It’s called WORLD completion for a reason.
Why aren’t the PoI’s in dungeons a requirement for World completion? What about the mists? They’re more in the world than World Vs World is.

Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
There is a TL;DR version at the very bottom.
World Completion currently is 90% Solo/PvE based, and 10% World vs World based.
Now as someone who personally doesn’t enjoy World vs World content, this suggestion may seem a bit biased, however i can provide some valid points, that i feel anyone would agree with, of course i may be wrong, but the whole point of this suggestion is just that, a suggestion, it doesn’t need to be implemented or even considered, just an opinion that someone has whom feels would make the game slightly better.
Now on to the suggestion.
World Vs World needs to be removed from World completion, simply because it’s pigeon holing players that are working towards world completion, and are enjoying it, because they’re doing so at their own pace, however once you’ve completed all the zones and all that’s remaining is world versus world, you’re forced to be actively playing WvW content in order to get full completion.
Forcing players into content they do not enjoy is not a good marketing scheme.
So here is my suggestion.
Remove the World completion requirement from World Versus World, and give World Versus World it’s own stand alone completion that rewards something relating to World vs World, either a huge chunk of blueprints or something entirely different, I’m not sure what would Appeal to players who actively do this content, so I’ll leave this one open up for debate.
TL;DR As i wrote a lot.
Remove WvW requirement from World Completion and give WvW completion it’s own title/achievement/rewards.

Or you could just buy it from the TP
Sad but true. Exactly how A-Net set it up… buy those gems… trade for gold… all the leather you want
A-Net has to make money so they can eat and provide for their families… I wish they could do it without handcuffing the crafting system.
The amount of materials you need just to make an Unidentified Dye… Just one example of thousands that make me think every time … "if this was a “sub”…. this would be fun… but it’s more less… “feed the rich”
If you’re playing GW2 By buying gems and converting it into cash, then wow, you’re playing an extremely inefficient way, and no wonder you’re moaning so much about the gem store.
I’ve been playing since the 3 day headstart, all my professions are maxed, i’ve got the golden title & i’m fully geared in exotic gear with sigils/runes.
Only once did i put money into the Gem store, and that was to buy a character slot, so to say that you need to buy gems to get anywhere in this game is incredibly wrong, you can easily make money just by farming CoF p1 for an hour a day to say the least, let alone many other methods you can do to make money.

I would love to see a mini panel, similar to the Ranger pet panel, where once you collect a mini, it shows up and you can select it even if it is in your collections tab. Also, this would allow you to use the same mini on multiple characters and would not use up bag space.
This is a brilliant idea Elena, i’ll quote it in the main post.

It’s a quality of life improvement, the minis were implemented poorly in comparison to other games with Miniature pets, gw2 was released in 2012, there’s no excuse for it to lack certain features that are prevalent in other MMO’s simply for ease of access.

well after you explain the laurel conspiracy, explain the legendary in the PT, some say they are from farmer i say is from…
i will keep refreshing this until someone tell me how to get 1000 laurels in 4 months. some dev can join us.
1000 laurels in 4 months? Impossible.
100 laurels in 4 months? Easy.
By doing the daily every day, you get 1 laurel, totaling to roughly 30 laurels a month.
By doing the monthly, you get 10 Laurels, making that a total of 40 laurels a month.
4 * 40 = 160.
Meaning in 4 months, you can get 160 laurels, more than enough for the cat tonic.

3. Jumping into a dodge roll. My jump key is nowhere near the dodge key.
Yes it is. It is binded by default on “V”.
My jump key is bound to my right Ctrl key and my dodge key is bound to my D key.
I refuse to use WASD for any type of movement. I’m old enough to remember how to use the up, down, left, and right keys or the number pad for movement.
W = walk/run
A = target ally
S = scoreboard
D = dodgeSo my comment of jumping into a dodge roll still stands since the dodge key and the jump key are no where near each other on my keyboard.
Not to sound mean or anything, but it sounds like you have both hands on the keyboard, to which i have to say this – With that setup, there are a lot of jumping puzzles you’ll never be able to do simply because you’re using the keyboard to control your camera.

First i shall give a bit of back story.
I’m a player who has always been someone to collect things in video games.
In Everquest 2, there were collectibles funnily enough, i collected these to no end, and there were thousands of them.
In World of Warcraft, i collected Mini pets and mounts.
In the Elder Scrolls Games, i’d love to go out harvesting materials for Alchemy (While this isn’t 100% related to miniature pets, it’s still a collection)
What i’m getting at, is i did those things because i liked to having something to show off for it, or they provided a small benefit but meaningless benefit that wasn’t mandatory.
With the Minis in Guild wars 2, i feel less obliged to collect them, because, well frankly the way they’re implemented is pretty poor.
Countless times i’ve found myself running around, thinking my Mini is still following me, only to notice that he’s either:
A. Despawned.
B. Somehow managed to slip his way out of my Invisible bag and get deposited
C. Lagging behind me, literally a mile away.
For someone who has spent real life money on the pets in the gem store, this is a bit of a problem when i can’t even have anything to comfortably show for it, i have to constantly look to see if my mini is still active.
So to solve this problem, i’ve got a change that i feel everyone will agree with.
Provide Miniature pets with their own slot in the hero screen, when a miniature pet is stored in said slot, they will always follow the player, no matter what and they will also not be affected by Depositing collectibles.
Many players may feel “oh but this will clog up the game and cause lag because everyone will use pets!” No. They won’t, it has never been like this in other games that have utilized this function, and i highly doubt it will be different with guild wars 2, just because people have the option to use a Miniature pet, doesn’t mean they will. While it will give players like me, who love to collect these sorts of things, some bragging rights, heck, with this implementation, you could maybe even add in some legendary minis into the game!
Here is an idea from a player, that i would work great!
ElenaDragon.8401:
I would love to see a mini panel, similar to the Ranger pet panel, where once you collect a mini, it shows up and you can select it even if it is in your collections tab. Also, this would allow you to use the same mini on multiple characters and would not use up bag space.

Please remove this.
I don’t feel compelled to be forced into low level zones in order to get a monthly done, every other aspect of the monthly allows me to do the content i wish to do, but this one forces me to tread around low level zones searching for those stupid bloody machines. By all means, promote new content, but forcing me to walk around zones looking for these bloody things, when there’s only about 4 up ikittenone at any given time.. No, this is dumb.

Fishing would be a nice addition, it could just be fishing nodes around the world much like ore rocks, trees & herbs/plants, add another harvesting tool “Copper Fishing Rod” etc, and the pools are either located around the coastal areas of water, or anywhere inside bodies of water.
Player housing and guild housing – This is something that was mentioned and is probably being worked on, so this doesn’t need anything said about it.
Firemaking – As said above, see the chef costume, it would be nice if it worked as a mobile place to cook food though.

You can remove the daily box, just untick everything related to the daily that you have showing up on the UI.
If anything, the UI doesn’t have enough information.
I’d like to know when my passive traits are off cooldown, i’d like to know when my Guardian passives are going to tick in again, like the passive aegis, i’d like to know when weapon & Armor sigils/runes are off cooldown.
The fact that you’re wanting to feel immersed in a 3rd person game is just slightly.. yeah.
You can’t feel the full immersion simply because of the camera view, if this was an FPS, i’d agree, but 3rd person? You won’t get the same level of immersion, regardless of if you had the UI or not.

Something that i (and most assuredly many other players) would like to have the option of, is the ability to see the current cooldown on our passive abilities, for example, knowing when my next aegis is going to occur from my guardian ability, would be better than potentially casting the ability a second before an aegis is about to appear from the passive.
Also passives from traits, a toggle-able option to have the cooldowns display somewhere in the UI would be a great and welcome change.

So i’ve been farming Fractals on my thief to grab enough relics to get an ascended backpiece and 2 rings, on top of having laurels and eventually guild commendations to get the 2 other trinkets, but the one thing i’m uncertain of, is which ones i should be purchasing as a guardian.
What i’m hoping to do with my guardian is heavily solo pve content and do high level fractals with him as a support/damage based role, because of this, i’m leaning towards PVT, but i’m honestly not sure what high level fractals are like, as i’ve only gone up to level 20, so any help would be greatly appreciated on this.
For the build i was planning on going with the basic 0/0/30/30/10 build, as it seems to be a fairly good cookie cutter support spec while also providing moderate amounts of damage.
(Also while we’re on the subject, if i were to go for a support build focused on high level fractals, what gear would i want to look for? Clerics? Or is PTV the norm i want to stick with?)
