Quick props to PAXA! Those fights were fun yesterday!

We were 4-5 solo roamer partied together so our team work was pretty much inexistant, but I think we had some good fight.

And why the Hate for me! I’m not 100nade anymore, stop focus firing me during fights! Stop picking on the weak guy engineer that just got nerfed.

And stop using AoE invis already, each time we are like : “Oh well back up the culling attack is coming” !

Well, although it wasn’t you Rob, there were a few calling out AR for the last weeks match. I’m sure they managed to kitten off quite a few people on AR which in turn means some individuals who may have taken the insults to heart will do whatever they can to crush NSP because of the ignorance of a few.

I’m just assuming this is the case, I can’t actually confirm it, but in the future maybe those that were spouting crap should try and refrain or accept what happens next.

I didn’t bother saving the combat log last time, that was my mistake, but i will next time, so i can shut up your entire elitest guild. I didn’t know skills meant knocking people down, stunning them to the point they can’t fight back and killing them on the ground meant you guys had skills.

Maybe I’m looking at pvp differently, but I require no skills that prevents my enemy from using their abilities to fight me, and I still win.

Everyone in our guild has years of player vs player experience. We use our classes… Not items to win fights. Anyone can write anything. Put a screenshot of what you’re accusing us on the forums. Otherwise your absplutely blowing smoke. None of us are that cheap.

So your explanation to the other 10+ people you were running with last night for getting smoked was an excuse. By Gw2 standards you’re right on the money for being a “leader”.

What is great is unless Anet fixes the overly GLARING issues of seeing the 32 mosquitos / river drakes / wolves / and snow flakes while stealthing the 13 red defenders also in the same vicinity; AoE cap of 5; downed state mechanics; map size; and finally personal kills adding to the overall score/ranking ability……All you “powerful” zergs that ask for constant “score updates” will be running your mouths to a forum full of the only remaining zergers in Gw2. Unless this game takes a mighty change by the “March” update, none of you guys will have anyone to fight that isnt behind a keep wall on awesome arrow carts. That is what most of you guys get off on anyways.

The point I was trying to make is that if he was trying to convince other people that score doesn’t matter, not too many people are going to take a rant seriously about how score doesn’t matter coming from the guy who comes in last place every week. Once players get a real taste for what playing other good players who use their classes to the fullest rather than players that spam 1, 2 and maybe get to 3….they won’t be satisfied taking keeps in a mass of 20+ anymore. The reason 90% or more don’t want to fight other good players is because in their gaming experience they never have. All they know is that “Two Gallant, Imalog, Plokity Plok, Rob, and I am Harmless” have their blue derrito’s on and are shouting out commands in chat. So they follow and think that’s “Real” pvp, or excuse me WvW.

I still disagree with you. I enjoy scrapping with smaller groups in the open fields and camp battles more than anything else in WvW and I by no means am this amazing PVP player – I don’t always win, yet I still look forward to those bouts. Me, I don’t really enjoy running in the zergs so much…yet I still participate from time to time. Not because I am so transfixed on score like you say, but because I want to contribute to the server as well as get the loot, xp, and karma (yes I don’t have multiple 80s). If I can play a small part in helping my server control more territory in WvW…then I feel like I am doing my part. Because controlling territories is what WvW is all about. I still participate in zerging, sieges, and defending because I want to contribute to the server – seeing my server win makes me happy but it isn’t the only thing that motivates me to play. What’s your take on PVP and sPVP? If these competitive small man battles are the only thing you are looking for you might have better luck doing something like that? There at least you wouldn’t have to worry about a 20 man zerg interrupting your 1v1. I think you forget that some people don’t take this stuff as seriously as the rest of us…there are loads of casual gamers and newbie players that come into WvW and follow the zergs to take keeps and camps because quite frankly that is what they are here to do: Assist their “world” in capturing keeps and taking camps….controlling territories while the other “worlds” versus against them. As far as people playing for score or not, what I really meant is who are we to tell people why or how they should play? It’s a video game, everyone plays for their own reasons and has different opinions on what is “fun”. You know?

Im sure you mentioned playing Spvp because you dont know, but that is bunker build vs bunker build camping objectives….thats not open world group vs group fighting.

Man I fought SPLT lately, and like I said before they have the best Ranger I ever fought.

But I’m not sure they are still considered a small group, the last time I fought them they were a lot. That night we had a 4 players roaming group, but fighting them was way too much ahaha.

Props to them, I don’t know if they are a new group, but it’s cool to fight some new face!

We call ourselves PAXA. Saying we’re SPCA is like saying ALS is VS haha (sorry VS, not comparing you guys to them, just an example).

Sure we have our fair share of fail moments, but since I can recall a few of PAXA’s own as well, I don’t see why you feel necessary to go on and on about how ALS is full of bad players. Based on my own sample size of personal experience, I can justifiably say the same thing back.

A few ALS players seem to have a problem with a few PAXA members, so lets make a deal. I won’t generalize anything about you guys, and you wont do the same back. Are we all happy?

ALS groups consistently wipe to smaller groups. Let’s make a deal, if you don’t want to take responsibility for the wiped bads, kick them from your guild so it won’t be an issue anymore. Take the responsibility rather than trying to bury the truth.

Everybody know that early on this week, some commanders in both BP and NSP allied to focus on Anvil Rock. One of the commander even said it on the forum.

With ALS taking time off, We can only do so much to come back.

I don’t think right now we can play for the first place, the score difference is too big. We will have to settle for second and try the first next week.

Well, being a part of the server alliance, we never once discussed working with either server. If you want to think we worked with BP, that’s cool, but I’m pretty sure it was BP’s borderland that we took on reset, not AR, and it was also BP’s keep in EB that we took twice in two days. I mean, maybe I have the definition of an alliance wrong, but thus far I have yet to see how I’m wrong in any of my statements I’ve made.

ALS wasn’t taking a break this week, it’s their excuse for not being in 2nd the whole time, I know this because on reset, I repelled them at hills on BP borderlands with the pugs I was leading. We don’t make excuses when we are losing, we just keep fighting

I have a question for the BP and NSP folks. Aside from ALS, what guilds from AR do you consistently see in WvW, night after night, with more than 5 people? Just curious.

There are none…. That’s your answer. We have played AR for 2 months, at least, straight. We can’t name you one group with the same [tag] worth remembering for showing any kind of player vs player intelligence or skill. Just the same [ALS] / [SoS] tags in groups of 15+ banging on wood and chasing us around for 1 or 2 kills.

These kind of posts ALWAYS give you a crystal clear picture of who has true care bear mentality and who wants to experience a more skilled base pvp system.

Viper, cheers for taking the time to put this list (which has been in 4000 threads in past 6 months) of serious (population changing) flaws together for Anet to hopefully see.

Our guild laughs in vent every night when we come to the conclusion of “honestly if they just fixed culling at this point we’d be extactic”. There are so many other important issues as you pointed out that need fixing as well. Anet makes sure we see all the Mosquitos, scales, drakes, snowflakes, Krait, rabbits, shimmering water, more snowflakes, dolyak mobs, ect ect ect…. More Mosquitos. How about let us see (since we run a 5 man) the 20+ people running towards us so we can bail and survive rather than watch our healthy drop 5x the normal fights pace while seeing 4 reds and 22 Mosquitos and drakes?

Regardless of the at least 10 serious issues needing fixed, anyone that tries to defend Anet is just inexperienced, ignorant, and hasn’t played enough games to know the difference. It’s comical when people say the blatant problems like map size and being able to treb to treb to treb because tower distances are so close are perfectly fine. OPEN YOUR EYES.

I have just over 5000 kills in WvW so far and I have gotten ~350 badges total in all that time.

Sadly, the best way to get badges of “Honor” is by doing jumping puzzles

Here’s the best advice you’ll receive:

Find 4 other guys who want to kill red instead of kill brown keep doors. Log on at prime time (prime pvp time is 6pm cst to about 12pm) and run nightly. Focus on killing red and red only. We run every night and average over a 100 a night easily. That’s in a real time span of 3-4 hours. Anywhere from 150-300 kills. Do that and you’ll have your 500 in a week or two. Plus have the most rewarding feeling about winning fights you shouldn’t.

Once again we are extending the invite to the core 5 man guilds lookin for guild fights in open roaming pvp. We are going to continue this invitation and continue pushin to gather skilled players/5 mans for our tier to make wvw culture what it should be, skilled on skilled giving the zergers their keep doors. We are very serious about this so please let me and the ENVY guys know how we can help you get your 5 man to our tier

We are inviting all the 5 mans across the servers to our tier. Lower avg # of zergers even though there are still groups of 25+. But our server alone has 4-5 Northern Shiverpeaks 5 mans that run daily. We have fought Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass for going on two whole months. The scores are very close all the time and most likely will not change. It is a safe place to have competitive guilds roaming every night. We run prime time hours weekly (anywhere from 5pm cst to midnight). Our guild PAXA and allie guild ENVY are willing to help any and all get to our tier. Would much rather log on knowing 2-5 other small mans from each server are out looking for a fight with us. I know moving seems like a hassle up front, but in a stagnant tier, generating competitive 5 v 5 fights every night for months ahead…it is well worth it. We are very serious about making this work, and have a couple guilds chatting with us about making it happen. Let me know your thoughts if interested.

I’d rather BP not learn from mistakes, but I hope all of AR watches this.

What you can’t see, due to minimap zoom, is AR owning Bay (since reset, this was hours after reset), the southwest tower and the 3 adjacent supply camps. AR had its run of the map up to the point where BP had grown tired of AR BL (they owned it) and NSP had grown tired of EB (they owned it), so I guess it was time for the Reset-3-Way that normally happens on AR BL first thing. NSP had southeast tower and Hills.

In this battle, AR couldn’t see how badly BP was being trashed inside the tower, and should have sent in a thief to scout. Instead, AR got split in half. Half got inside the tower door, as the group was t-boned by BP reinforcements from Garrison and Citadel. AR was mostly dead before NSP zerg showed up, too.

AR and BP auto-targeting softened both sides, while NSP called-targeting (seen in video) cleaned house.

As Kodiak hinted to here, I called for a general stand-down for ALS commanders this week. We aren’t the first AR guild to take a break from WvW this month, and may not be the last.

ALS decided last-minute to go to BP BL instead of AR BL for reset, joining War Lords and Valiant Sword. Hence, BP BL being the scene of the usual AR BL 3-Way festivities.

Then, we took a break for an hour, and went to NSP BL, turning it blue for them to wake up to.

It was server flip night man. That means “zergs” increase in size by 3-4×. We are not going to run 5 when everyone else increases to 30+. So we ran 10.

We understand the points of changing the game mechanics and tier populations. But that isn’t why this thread exists. We are gathering skilled guilds and inviting to run on our tier every night. If the servers change in a month (because they most likely will not before that).. We will all figure it out to make it work. Xferring isn’t that big of a deal if other people (us) are willing to help you get to our tier. Especially if it means at least a couple months of running into skilled 5 mans every night in pvp… That is the point of all of this.

This is a good idea. My friends/guild mates have been talking about dropping out of tier one. We joined SoR in hopes it would stay in the middle tier but it has sky rocketed up to #2. We would really like to get some small scale fights. The zergs in tier one are very good with AOE on the rez clumps and rezzing allies ASAP. In the lower tiers zergs were much easier to rock with out 4-8 man groups.

I’ve seen a big drop of interest lately with my guild mates. Spvp is all about holding points to win & WvW is a zerg fest (Even trying to ninja a tower with 5 guys 30 show up). We went from an active 15 man guild to 5-3 active members in the last 5 months. Hopefully presenting this idea to them will spark some life in them, otherwise we will be praying for Guild vs Guild.

Horth, message me to chat in vent. We can help make this happen for you. If you guys like every night running, you will love our tier. There are zergs, smaller ones, but there are 4-5 5 mans on NSP looking for fights every night.

True, GW2 is the only platform since DAoC which has shown any promise for this style of game play (small man, 5 v 5).

However, we all know game mechanics (down state, AOE cap etc.), technical issues (culling), ANET currents priorities (sPvP and PvE) and not to mention the pervasive zerg fest enjoyed by an absolute majority of players at all tiers, only just serve to limit this possibility.

ANET just teases us with WvWvW, and only provides a brief glimpse of it’s true potential.

Open world, competitive, skill based and most importantly non-static PvP.

Let’s just hope the upcoming WvW patch doesn’t completely flop, like most IRC DAoC eight mans …

If you guys run it…why not come compete on our tier? That is what we are trying to accomplish. Gathering all the 5 mans in gw2. To fight each other every night!

Which server would benefit everyone the most and be the most stable?

Once servers balance over time stability goes out the window.. For roaming groups to be efficient these things need to happen:

Culling fixed
Aoe limit increased
Downed state mechanics altered
Distribution of players on map

Once/if these things happen, you’ll see roaming groups out and about.

It sounds good on paper, but a “5v5” server is going to get stale pretty quick; especially when groups start flopping, which is inevitable. Plus once the roamers log for the night the action will be real bad.

We run 5 every night and in 2-3 hours avg 2-300 kills. Undoubtedly those things you listed new to be fixed. Or else all skill based players will leave gw2. We are not inviting all 5 mans to a server. We are inviting them to a tier. And in all big time open pvp games 5 mans ran primarily during prime time which is what I said in original post is our focus for time. It will be a much more competitive atmosphere knowing the two other servers have anywhere between 3-10 5 mans roaming looking for fights.

We are definitely keen but concerned about the quality of WVW in general for when no groups are out roaming. In t1 there is already an active (albeit sparse) 5man scene.

The biggest advantage towards forming the 5 man tier in lower leveled tiers is the significant difference in size of the Zergs. Tier 1’s Zergs are undoubtedly larger than what we see. I don’t agree with ever running in 20+ but I know others do. Problem with moving up in tiers… The Zergs running around are much larger in size that what rolls around in our tier. Another reason we are a good place to house the 5 man culture.

PAXA and ENVY are well aware it will be a challenge to get guilds physically to our tier and as said before are willing to help. If we can get guilds in our vent discussing the move we will do everything in our power to make this a competitive atmosphere. Don’t use the tier to judge the talent.

As far as which server to xfer to… All three are good choices. NSP has the most 5 mans so of you want the fights BP and AR will bring that to you and your guilds faster. We are dead serious about making this culture reality. Post here or message me in game to discuss moving here. The atmosphere will be filled with real open pvpers… Who doesn’t want that?

If you guys run consistently and are a serious 5 man team, we are gathering 5 man guilds for our tier. To end the “zerg only” open pvp atmosphere. Send me if you are interested in fighting other 5 mans nightly.

So what youre saying is, making a class that an 8 year old could play and BEAT players that have been gaming for 10 years of mmo pvp….due to the class/abilities design is ok? Got it. That is called World of Warcraft syndrome. And this is exactly why every MMO for past 6-8 years has failed miserably at being a longhaul mmo.

Sixty, I just opened a thread about getting guild small mans 5-8 to run consistantly on our tier. Sounds like we are becoming fewer by the week but there are still a good number of us small manners out there. If you know a couple guilds interested in open small man roaming fights, let me know as we [PAXA] and [ENVY] are working on gathering all the small mans to one tier.

On behalf of our NSP 5 man PAXA and the ENVY 5 man, we would like to openly invite all other 5 man guilds to our tier.

Currently on NSP there is between 4-5 legitimate 5 man guilds that run prime time each night. After years of DAOC and WAR we understand there will always be “Zergs” but also know that nothing gets the adrenaline going like a solid 5 guild vs guild fight. That is why we are presenting the concept of gathering all the 5 mans in GW2 and people looking for small/roam/5 man open pvp action, and openly inviting to our tier.

We read the forums and realize there are many good solid groups of players spread out across the servers. It would be much more fun knowing there are 4-10 other 5’ers roaming looking for you than just a 40 man Zerg.

Currently we are competing with Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass and have been for over a month straight. To this date we can name maybe 2 groups on both servers combined that run consistantly. That means there are major openings for your guild’s players and skills.

Daoc took about 2 years to create 8 man open roaming culture. We are going to cut that down because of the impatience the amount of “zergers”/culling/bad play has brought to guilds like ours and yours. PAXA as well as ENVY are willing and able to help guilds get onto the servers in our tier. If interested, post in this thread or message me in game. Our 5 mans run anywhere from 4pm cst to 1am cst. Help us bring back skilled combat in tri-faction open world pvp.

There was no [tag], as I stated in the last few weeks, I have limited time to play. It was a PuG, but fairly easy to tell (regardless of tag) when its 5vMany. PAXA are the ones who asked in our previous threads for me to get a 5 man going. We did what we could to accommodate that request.

I (or anyone for that matter) should have been panning and watching our rear so that fault was ours, but I will admit I was shocked when I realised it was PAXA that hit us considering we fought you 5v5 15-20 min before that.

We will be more attentive the next time, but tell me, whats the difference between being in the zerg and running in to kill with the zerg ? You may as well just run with them at that point. Ya I’m a little pissy about it due to the fact that we were winning the fight against the mini zerg and also because I have stuck up for PAXA’s play style from Day 1 so it was kind of a slap in the face.

No tags makes it difficult to gauge who your fighting, on the other hand it was pretty clear we were outnumbered already and were sporting only 5.

Well my rant is done, I’m sure we will run into each other again.

After playing AR for 2 months, (zergfest 2013) and BP isnt much better, we pretty much discount any and all we see and chalk it up to “apart of the zerg”. So if your red we are going to go in for the kill. Sorry if that upsets you bud. Not trying to be a jerk, just explaining our mentality.

Made up a small video of a couple tower defenses that Ascension was a part of yesterday. First part is of an Ascension 5-man defending Veloka that we managed to ninja from NSP. The second is of a night-time tower defense in AR where we tried to bait both AR and NSP into fighting us.

Meh, we ran 5 and hit PAXA was close, they pulled a win. 20 min later were still running 5 come across about 15 and we start laying waste. Things are going good the 15 are dying fast then all of a sudden we start dropping, at first everyone figured meh squished between mini zergs. Nope, turns out it was PAXA AJ’ing our uphill battle, this is why you guys will not get many chances to fight 5 vs. 5.

There is absolutely nothing worse then a 5/8 man (depending on game) who is eager to find 5 mans to fight, but is willing to AJ another 5 man as they fight clearly 2-3X their numbers.

This was friday night, and it saddens me. Oh and to clear it up, I don’t care about being AJ’d, but it makes a world of difference when its the guys asking for small mans to fight.

Have no idea who you are or what 5 man you run. Second, clearly you didn’t play Daoc because Ajing happened every single day. Good groups pulled off surviving occasionally, most lost if Ajed. If you had the jump on the situation from the get go, let the other two hit first then Aj, Double the rps….Why are you complaining? We respect people that beat us fair. We are not going to respect you when you are red just because you are fighting someone else. That being said, expect it pal.

Finished second? How many times will it take us saying that we DONT care about any door score. Kills /night is what matters to us. Second, third, 15th….doesnt matter as long as our KTD ratio is outstanding.

Yea were insecure for our 2-300 kills with 5 in 2-3 hours a night.

Misinformation? We ran 2 separate 5 mans in two different vents last night.. Both with 5 only for the majority of the night. At 11 pm cst the one grp in AR split up and I ran with the second grp. Personally, I like to add clones, illusions, thieve’s guild, ranger pets, necro minions, and spirit weapons when getting a proper count of the enemy.

Don’t forget necro terrors or moas. All those say [PAXA] on them.
