I’ve watched this video and I just don’t get, how much damage you can put out compared to your survivability AND mobility on top of that, it just looks…broken. I rarely play my warrior, but I understand how to play one, but it still looks broken and in need of adjustment. What other profession can put out that kind of damage and still be that sturdy with the mobility to escape when needs be?

Cool video. Makes me wonder tho, why should I even bother playing my thief again, warrior are apparently the kings of burst, with little risk (you makes it look easy tho, since you are a good player) with this build I don’t have to think about ever healing, and no need to cloak and dagger for stealth and backstab for “high damage” (5-7k, depending on squishy or not) this build chains that dmg easily really fast.
This isn’t a QQ-post, I am leveling my warrior in this very moment, gotta test this out! Lol

this is a high risk high reward build, actually you can see it in the video sustain is out of the window, time is your enemy you have to end fights quickly.

well warrior never got back plans like stealth, teleports or defensive boons so its understandable for his mobility, although its still inferior to other classes in-battle mobility despite warrior is considered a heavy melee profession, also its the most telegraphed profession, in a serious skilled duel the warrior is almost not viable at all.

the fact is that you are seeing a video of a good player.

It’s ridiculous! Equipping SoM then unequipping it will remove it but only temporarily. Pretty much as soon as you enter combat it’s back. I don’t like it, i want it fixed. I don’t want my dps increased because of a bug.

don’t worry ANet will fix it because of "bugs will be fixed which were allowing more advantage than expected on the battlefield.’’ , but Rush,Bull’s charge and flurry bugs that kills us are fine.

Well, there are no really good MMOs around anyway, so that’s why gw2 is on top and maybe it deserves it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a great game. A lot of stuff needs to be improved and changed… It’s a good game, but no way near my list of top games

there are no really good games around in general not just MMOs.

but also after playing GW2 for a year and a half and considering myself a gamer for 25 years, i can say with confidence that GW2 is on the top of my list.

ANet did a great job in this game that i recommend them as an example to other gaming studios.

Anyone with a brain knows how broken Berserker Stance is ever since it was buffed.
I know that many people have suggested that it be changed to 100% resistance to conditions instead. Some people might say “whats the difference between 100% resistance and immunity?”

Well, like many have said, with condition duration modifiers, you can easily achieve over 100% condition duration on your target and even up to +220% condition duration at the very most. But that isn’t recommended, because it almost does nothing much for you.

Instead of Berserker Stance being changed to having a 100% reduction of incoming conditions, how about this:

Berserker Stance (8 sec): You gain adrenaline for a short time. The following conditions cannot be applied to you when you use this stance: Cripple, Chill, Immobilize, Weakness, Vulnerability, Blind, Fear, Poison.

Berserker stance is bugged. It was never meant to give immunity, so anyone applying over 100% duration conditions could have that excess amount still be applied. However, the bug never got corrected and then along came diamond skin and auto response, so it puts in to category of immunity is the way of the future. Such is life.

its not bugged, tooltip updated by ANet to better clarify that zerker stance is working as intended.

I can only answer that I have actually met a warrior with axe/shield + gs that was devastating to go up against when on my ranger. I guess mostly because you barely see many warriors use GS in sPvP and when you do they always try to rely on Hundred Blades.

What made the combo devastating to me was the scary mobility, always staying up in my face continuously and never backing off. Then beating with axe for that great amount of damage. Whenever I got out of distance, he took GS out and was literally 1 inch from my character again..

if GS/Axe getting 1 inch from you, then i wonder what would you say if you met a GS/Sword user xD.

Like I said lets test it in Spvp to prove your point. You play a power bunker build with damage multipliers, and I’ll play my condition build with additional condition application. This is kind of like the thing that people say looks good on paper, but plays differently in-game. So i wanna test it against someone that knows how to play, a power bunker build. it’s pointless to try to point out things on the forums anyway.

by power bunker you mean Soldier ?

that would be a funny thing, you would be naked in front of him, your toughness means nothing, absolutely 0 to his conditions, while your all ready pathetic Soldier attacks get even mitigated by his toughness.

Conditions have fewer ways to mitigate the damage once the attack has been landed. They also lack methods to boost it.

You could always have players from other servers in your Guild. MegaServer hasn’t changed that.

now they can contribute influence for the guild as a one entity not just a copy for every server.

in the past you couldn’t.

and for the “reasonable arguments” folks, just have a walk in WvW, choose whatever power build you want, then tell us your horror story.

If you suggest reduced conditions because power builds doesn’t work for WvW roaming — guess what I will call for….

As a condition user, I’ve always had power builds for situations when conditions doesn’t cut it. Now here’s the trick question — why shouldn’t the same rule apply to power users?

no i dont want Condis to be nerfed, i want crit dmg nerf to be reversed.

before 15th april, most condi-bunkers can be beaten with high burst and decent condi removals.

now with crit dmg nerf (more than 30% in my case) the damage just dont cut it against Dire users, you either go full zerk or rune of strength and hope you dont commit a mistake or go Melandru/Hoelbrak and bring every condi-cleanse you can get.

and say goodbye to to the period of diversity we had in WvW, something even PvP didn’t have.

sorry but this is not how you build.
Bursting every 8sec and doing no dmg is not a good idea right?
But saying we want a dps build based on burst , and then try to make it do as much damage as possible is.

So you take axe + hammer = leap+ big dmg, no argue there.
For max dmg from axe burst you want to use burst on CD and with full adrenaline, so we want the best adrenaline regain trait – burst mastery which happens to also give you a plus 7% dmg.
For max hammer burst – you want ‘merciless hammer’. no argue. hammer burst is not just F1 its the whole chain. so you got lower CD on all skills plus 20% dmg.
Ideally we want every hit to crit, Intelligence sig gets u that for 1 weapon. The other will have to do with ~%50 which is every other hit.
And when you burst so much of course you want cleansing Ire for adrenaline regen and the condi clears.
Now this is a build.

you are missing the point that we also want toughness, +732 toughness to be exact than your build.

while yes this build wont have the damage you get from Zerker amulet and Runes of Strength, but still it can achieve significant damage in addition to control and high survivability.

By the same logic, shouldn’t Soldier’s gear be removed? It has higher damage output.

the problem is that damage from Soldier is terrible, can be negated by toughness, cant fire and forget and Power is hugely dependent on 2 other stats (precision/ferocity), unlike Dire.

use Cleansing ire, your burst spamming is the best thing against them.

I tried that too, but then I seemed to run into problems upkeeping enough Adrenaline to do bursts back to back, plus losing quite a bit of “oomph” from the bursts themselves.

It’s a tradeoff really. Sacrificing hitting power for survivability. But yeah that’s what balance means. Can’t have it all in the same build

of course its a trade off, you cant have 6/6/6/6/6 build :P

but its a good trade off, almost maxed toughness and your bursts are the damage even if your adrenaline is not full.

lets say you want a build based around “Burst Precision”, so Precision line is out of the question.

you already forced into 30 points in Strength and because its all around bursts the better option is to take “Axe Mastery” and “Dual wielding” to buff Burst more.

which means you are forced into Axe, unfortunately no other one-handed weapon can get close to Axe burst, so we look in 2-handed weapons.

long bow is great but the hard hitting “Arcing Arrow” wont crit because its not a burst, so thats leaves us with Hammer, we take Hammer not just for damage but also for the control it brings.

well yeah you wont be getting “merciless hammer” or “burst mastery”, because in this case, “cleansing ire” and “Fast hands” are more valuable.

and because you are after these 2 traits and because we slotted 3x Stance skills, the better option is to take “sure footed” and “vigorous focus” to get Vigor and a couple of seconds more on these Stances.

so the last thing was, what Off hand we should use to benefit from “Dual wielding” ,i picked Mace because of the control.

optimum physical Damage needs, Power,Precision and Ferocity , but since the goal is not to invest in Precision then we drop it and replace it with toughness “Cavalier Amulet”.

Rune of Rage helps a lot, Perma Fury (20% crit chance),175 Ferocity and +5% damage under fury.

so why not using Sigil of intelligence ? … simple answer, it got 9s CD ,“Burst Precision” got no CD.

well i wont argue which is better, but in this case “Burst Precision” is better as long as you spam your burst every 8s or less, which is all this build is about, might not be the best build but it got potential, ill try to upload some videos later.

Unfortunately, Burst Precision is a totally worthless trait because of Sigil of Intelligence. Why lose up to 15% extra damage when you just have to use your Burst within 3 attacks?

because Sigil of Intelligence is on 9s CD, i found it hilarious doing crit Earthshaker followed by instant crit Eviscerate, ill lose more damage if i took berserkers power because i got almost 0 Precision, the idea is that you don’t need Precision, outside of initial basic Precision and the high Fury up time.

i mean with Cavalier amulet you get the max toughness and your bursts hits hard, the burst are the main damage.

But with that setup the only thing that will be doing any damage is your burst skills. A condi Warrior would be better in both survival and damage (although lacking control). I tried a setup with this trait but I just found Intel to be better.

This patch has really put me off PvP. I was hoping Axe/GS wouldn’t be hit too hard but now that burst skills hardly restore any endurance the sustain and DPS (Reckless Dodge) has dropped substantially. I used to like to do the Far Assaulter role but now with so many MMs guarding it it has no chance. I need to get around to trying axe/lb to see if it has a chance against them.

that was the goal of this build, i played with it more also in tPvP a couple of games and it worked amazingly.

yeah your normal attacks are pretty low damage if it doesn’t crit, but when Earthshaker > Eviscerate hits then its a tide changer.

all you need to do is literally spam Earthshaker/Eviscerate, oh and Mace off hand is epic with Tremor skill, Hammer and Mace off hand bring a ton of control when waiting for your Burst.

you get max toughness very hard to get killed, also high Vigor up time coupled with reckless dodge, plus high uptime on Fury from Runes of Rage helps a lot to compensate for the almost zero precision.

even before the patch they were OP, now they are ruling that part with heavy condi/bunker builds, just one small example : +175% bleed duration, just shout loud OP, still i refuse to run a cheasy condi builds.

but also this patch made it easier to deal a bit with them.

i have in the bag a set of armor with Melandru runes and weapons with sigils of Generosity/Purity, i get out of combat, retrait, wear armor/weapons, slot cleanse skills and get back to that heavy condi dude.

but what about the average player ?, with “if you cant beat them, join them” mentality.

also, aren’t we killing diversity in WvW roaming ? with suggestion like run(Melandru / Sunless / Hoelbrak / Resistance) or don’t even bother.

WvW roaming is run the best thing you can run it always has been. There are those “special snowflakes” that run something a little bit different so they can tell people they are different but you shouldn’t be surprised by condition builds or direct damage builds in roaming they haven’t changed much.

You don’t see the S/D thief and assume he is conditions
If you see the D/D thief you assume direct damage and lolz if he is conditions.

You see the necro the alarm should say conditions “hovers over food” ok he is power.

You can usually tell 90% of the time what the main form of damage is just by hovering over their food and if you don’t have time to do that you got jumped and still you should be able to tell after the first attack hits you this goes for conditions and direct damage.

You don’t have to run melandru/hoelbrak/resistance you can kill them before they kill you as condition builds hate burst damage that keeps pressure on them and doesn’t give them time to setup.

If it is group play you should be sending your warrior to kill the necro not your PU power mesmer.

my normal roaming build got decent condi cleanse, but lately “decent” is not enough.

thats why i have another set of armor and weapons to deal with heavy condi spam and slot/trait every condi cleanse i can get.

Burst ? everyone hate bursts not just condi/bunker , did i just say bunker ? yeah bunker, high toughness/vitality or even healing power.

you dont need just Burst, you need over the top Burst and hope he got half a brain, but then you got no toughness/Vitality/healing like him.

you know the best counter to condi/bunker ? … an even more heavy condi build.

In any case, beating a condition mesmer IMHO comes first by understanding which gameplay you face

the problem once you figure what hes running mostly its too late.

i remember one Mesmer before the patch he just put dozens of condis, the only way that i got him is when i brought every condi-cleanse i got , cleansing ire,zerkers stance,Lyssa runes, Stamina signet and was almost about to slot shake it off too.

the new patch with out of combat traiting, made it easier to deal with those , now in addition to food and stuff, i have in my bag a GS slotted with Sigil of Generosity and Purity xD and you could trait Quick breathing for a horn , just to deal with this kind of mesmers :P

yep but buffing sigil of paralyzation brought it back to life.

i can see it still working in PvP , inside the chaos its easier to connect skull crack.

in WvW, Axe and Sword are better than mace.

mace is the slowest of the three and only able to do just the one trick “F1>100b” thanks to its stun.

Axe more mobile, even more DPS than 100b thanks to eviscerate and auto attack, so you don’t need to rely on just 100b for damage, although its poor in locking down targets, so there is no way to setup up 100b with it, and because of that GS when coupled with Axe becomes more of a mobility weapon not a source of damage weapon.

Sword is highly mobile which is WvW roaming is all about, coupled with GS and you have almost the best mobility in the entire game, and can lock down targets thanks to its Flurry immobilize, not superior like Mace stun but with the coupled mobility and lock downs also the bit of damage it holds thanks to “final thrust” and bleeding auto attack , it will be hard to pick mace over it.

now your only choice to keep the armor and runes is Upgrade Extractor.
i keep testing builds and try different things but with the cost of Upgrade Extractor which cost now about 25g for just one Upgrade Extractor and you need 150g!! to extract one set of armor.
i thought this patch meant to make it easier for players to try new builds.

until now i lost more than 200g, i got some expensive runes put on unsalvageable armor but still buying the runes again is cheaper than paying 150g to extract them.

pure zerkers will get 10% less crit dmg

but its those who don’t go full berserker will get hit hard, over 30% less crit dmg.

which means either you go PURE zerker for any PvE content or you get kicked.

next devs loved their PvP and didnt care of anything else, so crit nerf won’t go PvP but in WvW its, because kitten logic.
