I think a good rule of thumb would be that if you even have a thought that someone might find it offensive it is best to go with another name. You of course could contact support before choosing that name just to be safe. It doesn’t bother me but players with certain religious beliefs or views might find it offensive.

One issue is also the green arrow that shows you are not true 80. From my experience it makes you an immediate target especially in smaller groups. I’ve tried WvW several times with my L20ish and it is almost immediate death if you are in a group of say 3-4 and you run across a small enemy group of true 80s. I’ve had enemies run right past the players I was with just to wipe me out first for a quick kill. In the zerg you can try to hide in the middle at least.

I also noted that people are claiming this while the troll is actually up, He can be kited as far as I know to the other site of the map, and often the whole event has been kited out of his cave, onto the filed, all the way to the farm. So make sure you look around when he isnt in his cave.

Ow and don’t kite the troll out of the cave. He is slow enough to make corners and the cave is big enough to kite in there while you wait for the zerg of players to help you

Oh I’ve made sure in many instances when someone falsely called out an event. I used the example of the troll because of my reference to someone trying to troll by making false calls. It happens on occasion with many other events.

Mac GW2 Custom Playlist Tutorial

11. Launch the game and login to the main menu. If everything is working properly then you should hear your music playing after a moment.

12. Now if you want the songs to play in game then rename mainmenu.m3u to ambient.m3u

In a short time while in game you should hear your songs playing at certain times. They will most likely not play constantly unless you are just standing in certain spot for some time. In my experience with this there is often some delay between songs. Songs in the ambient playlist will play in random order with exception of the first song which always plays first when the playlist is first initiated. In other words when first entering the game. So if year hear the same song twice in a row it doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong due to the random nature of randomness. That is unless you only have one song in your playlist

If this seems intimidating out of concern for breaking something that is understandable. However I tried to break it myself as a test by adding the .m3u play list to the music folder with incorrect absolute paths and the only thing that happened was the music didn’t play at all.

If you no longer want the custom playlist simply remove the .m3u file from the Guild Wars 2 music folder.

From GW2 Cutsom Playlist wiki on supported file types:

The game currently recognizes eight playlists:

Ambient
Battle
BossBattle
City
Crafting
MainMenu
NightTime
Underwater
Each playlist can designate a primary and secondary playlist to look for. Most playlists default to Ambient if they do not exist; this allows you to create just one custom playlist to override the in-game music.

Supported media Playlist formats
.asx
.m3u
.pls
.wax
.wpl
Audio types
Anything covered by FMOD (by default) including:

.aiff
.flac
.mp3
.ogg
.wav
Many old-school formats are also supported including .mid or .it files. Native iTunes playlists are not supported. .m4a files are not supported.

Some music file names that may not allow the music to play:

If using an m3u playlist, files with # in either the filename or the generated “extra info” (artist or display title) may cause that playlist to function improperly or not at all.

Music files with the character ’ (apostrophe) in their names do not work.

And for one last reminder: DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT DELETE, RENAME, OR MOVE THE LIBRARY FOLDER. While creating a custom playlist you will not need to and should not have to move, rename or delete any folders/files within and including the Library folder itself. The only exception is adding the playlist file to the GW2 music folder and renaming the playlist file if you chose to do so.

I hope I have presented these instructions clearly. Also keep in mind that I do not work for Anet and the instructions I provided are based on my individual knowledge and experience using this method.

If you have any questions I will try to answer them to the best of my ability but I can’t promise it will be in a timely manner.

5. To find the absolute path to the file I have found the easiest way is to right click the file and select ‘Get Info’. This will open a pop up and you should see something that reads like this:

Where: /Users/YourUsername/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/

Of course in my example it says iTunes because that is where my music files are located. Your absolute path may differ based on where you store your music. The process is still the same.

You will notice that the absolute path in my example does not include the filename itself. This brings us to the next step.

6. Copy and paste that absolute path into your text editor. Now go back to the ‘Get Info’ window that you should still have open. You will see a text box about the middle of the window that has the name of the file example: CoolSong.mp3

Now copy that name and paste it at the end of the absolute path you just pasted into text editor. Example: /Users/YourUsername/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/CoolSong.mp3

Alternatively if you have better memory than me you can just type the filename at the end of the absolute path.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for as many songs as you want to add to your custom playlist. I’m not sure if this is a true assumption but I didn’t add a large amount of songs, about 10 I think, out of concern that it might use more resources while the game searches for each song.

8. Your text file will ultimately need to be named .m3u but you won’t be able to save it that way initially using TextEdit. Instead save it as .rtf and save it to a location easy to remember. For starters we are going to name it mainmenu.rtf for testing purposes.

9. Navigate to your GW2 music folder. Start with opening finder the default is probably:

username/library/application support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/user/application data/Guild Wars 2/music

At least that was the path in my situation. It could vary depending on how you have things set up.

There will probably be nothing in the music folder originally.

10. Paste or drag and drop the mainmenu.rtf file into the music folder. Now rename the file to mainmenu.m3u You will probably get a prompt asking if you are sure you want to change it to .m3u Select yes.

Mac GW2 Custom Playlist Tutorial

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892

JustTrogdor.7892

I’m not sure if this has already been posted but I wanted to present this for people that may not know this option exists. I’d like to preface this by noting that I am not an Anet employee or a Mac represntative. GW2 offers a function to allow users to make their own custom playlist for PC and Mac users a like. However the Mac method is slightly different than PC based on different folder names and locations.

Here is the GW2 Wiki page for custom playlist but is sort of vague and the file path is different than Mac:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Customized_soundtrack

First of all this process involves entering an extremely important library folder. It is unlikely that this process can cause problems but anytime you are making changes to files/folders I highly recommend having a recent backup.

Like the GW2 Mac client these instructions are currently in beta incase I forgot or missed a step.

1. You will need to make sure your user/library folder is visible. There are several methods to do so presented on the following link. Personally I prefer using the terminal command as it can keep it visible permanently until you use a command to hide it again. You can decide how to do so based on these instructions:

http://mac.tutsplus.com/tutorials/productivity/how-to-reveal-your-library-folder-in-lion-or-mountain-lion/

You can test that it is visible by opening finder select the username on the left and you should see a folder named Library that isn’t gray.

2. Now that you have your library folder visible I suggest you back that up as well to be redundant. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU DELETE THE LIBRARY FOLDER OR RENAME OR MOVE THE LIBRARY FOLDER the library folder is critical for the MAC to operate. I repeat DO NOT DELETE, RENAME OR MOVE THE LIBRARY FOLDER. While creating a custom playlist you will not need to and should not have to move, rename or delete any folders/files within and including the Library folder itself. The only exception is adding the playlist file to the GW2 music folder and renaming the playlist file if you chose to do so.

3. This is where it gets more fun. Open a text editor, I suggest the basic TextEdit application.

4. Find the absolute path to the songs/sounds you want to use. In my experience the easiest way to do this is to open finder and select the All My Files option on the left. I have a bad habit of scattering files about in different directories. What I did was type .mp3 in the search and I get a drop down that says Kinds .mp3 audio. When I click this it filters everything out to only reveal .mp3.

Please see my note below on supported audio formats. Also note that the custom playlist feature does not support music in the native iTunes format. There are additional notes at the bottom regarding file name restrictions.

I don’t understand why we are still waiting for a response 3 weeks after a moderator assured us that this would be brought to light for us. I love this game and I love even more that one of my favourite games of all timeis available on the Mac and runs mostly smooth for me, but it is very disheartening to see this level of support.

Looking at the pc forums, one can see and almost feel like us Mac peeps aren’t cared about at all.

Please come back to us with something… Anything!

I agree. I give some fairness to Anet by stating that the Mac client is beta before you buy it. However in my experience with purchasing other products that are beta it usually means there is some level of support and one can expect further development of the product.

Generally I have seen beta as a way to allow users to assist the developers in discovering bugs that they were unaware of due to the millions of possibilities for minor glitches. Otherwise why would they open it to the public anyway.

Specifically I think it is unfair to claim this:

Is there a forum for Mac technical support issues?

Yes. Please post your feedback and issues in the Mac Section of the Guild Wars 2 Forums.

On the GW2 Mac FAQ located here:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9231

If this forum is indeed not being reviewed by support they should rename it ‘Mac Users Supporting Mac Users’. Like you, I am mostly happy with the game and I am glad there is a Mac client because I don’t like using programs like boot camp.

So I give credit to Anet for making a Mac client. I have enjoyed this game for many hours. I do however feel somewhat disappointed in Anet. Given the lack of response to Mac problems being posted here and absolutely no updates in progress with the Mac client I am under the impression that we are on our own.

Trading Post Search By Armor Class As Well?

JustTrogdor.7892

Hello, first of all please forgive me if this has been posted before. I’m fairly new and I tried to search function but found it rather difficult to find relevant posts, no offense.

I think it would be helpful if there was an option to select an armor class when searching. For example if someone wears medium armor they can select the options “boots” and then also select “medium armor” to make their search results more accurate.

While it is fairly easy just mouse over each item to see if it is applicable to your character it would save time by not having to wade through pages and pages of items that you can’t use. I have also noticed that the relavent items often have a certain names and looks Like “Studded Boots of the Whatever”. I jus think it would be nice to clean up search results a little more with an extended search function.

Looking at the Trading Post interface I imagine this may not be practical due to limited drop down menu slots. I just wanted to share my opinion.

Hello,

To the best of my knowledge this particular forum is no longer being monitored by staff. Not being familiar with the problem you are experiencing myself I can only suggest that you submit a suport ticket here:

support.guildwars2.com
’Ask A Question’ option in the middle of the top of the page.

You might also consider running a disk repair and permissions repair using Disk Utility located in your Macs application folder and located in the utilities folder subfolder.

I would recommend that any time you experience a problem with the GW2 Mac client that you submit a ticket to keep development updated on issues that are occurring.

I hope you get it working soon.

If your experience in a game hinges on something as little as a mount and not something serious like balance and exploits well, more power to ya.

I agree because you are arguing over something that in your word is little. So why all the passion arguing with others because it is something you want.

I will leave it at this because it is time to get some sleep. Just because some people want something and some people don’t it doesn’t make the people that want it right by default.

You can express desire for quote “something as little as a mount” all you want. More power to ya.

I dislike how a lot of players turn down harmless content just because it was in some other game that everyone knows I’m talking about. That stubborn way of thinking is like denying a ferrari just because your neighbor has one.

Some players actually enjoy the collection of exotic creatures, even better when they can be ridden.

a mount is harmless content and for all of you haters, point out the harm…plz

Or more should I ask a question : IF mounts were added to the game, how does this negatively affect you? (not emotionally, but in game)

Your entire post is nothing but an attempt to devalue the opinions of others just because you don’t agree with them. Additionally I don’t think I would call someone a hater just because they don’t want something you want.

I could use some negative label to refer to you because you want an in game item that I don’t like but out of respect for your opinion I refrain from doing so. You simply don’t have the same opinion and that’s fine. Just because they don’t like mounts doesn’t mean they are haters. That term is often used by someone that is struggling to support their thoughts regarding a topic they are trying to defend.

I have already explained how it would affect me and it has little to do with emotion but how it would affect my game play experience.

You may see more players if a Dynamic Event springs up near by but a lot of this game is teaming by flash mob.

This is true. It sounds like the OP is playing a human and may be low level. To the OP if you go out into Queesndale there are many events that are usually considered group events. If you have map chat on you will often see people call out event’s in chat and what waypoint to take. For example “Troll up <such and such waypoint>” This typically means a champion mob has spawned and people group up so to speak to attack it in mass. I enjoy these myself and often end up in a conversation with someone that was there as well.

Also when roaming if you see a big read circle on the map these are events that usually many people will flock to.

I don’t want them. My opinion on this is based on the fact I don’t like games were everyone is running around on mounts. I just don’t like the feel and look of it. It isn’t about the collecting issue. I’d just buy gems if I wanted one bad enough.

Although it may seem foreign to many of you, one reason I purchased GW2 as my MMO of preference was the lack of mounts. It certainly wasn’t the determining factor in my ultimate decision but it did carry some weight.

I’m not saying that because that is how I feel then everyone else is wrong and they should rule out mounts completely. However, I would probably limit my game play if they were in game. I feel the same way about wearing town clothes in combat. I don’t like the way it presents the game to me visually. If both were in place I’d probably just be happy for the fun I have had and move on. Not in an “I’ll show you!” /rage quit way. I’ve already gotten my moneys worth from the game.

On Lottery (RNG) Boxes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JustTrogdor.7892

Actually no not when it happens the same exact way every single time these activities take place and with the same people involved and that’s why it’s lopsided not random.

The only thing that predicts frequency of a random result is the percentage set for the random mechanic itself and even then it is a prediction. For example flipping a coin you can predict that it will be heads 5 times out of ten because it is 50/50. You can flip that coin 10 times and get heads 1 maybe three times or even all ten times. Given your argument if you and 9 of your friends buy 10 lottery tickets a day and don’t win but 1 guy buys one lottery ticket for the first time ever and wins, it isn’t random.

While every effort is made by companies and hobbyists alike to eliminate these problems, servers and other equipment can have a mind of their own at times and some failures can’t be predicted.

How does Anet afford this?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JustTrogdor.7892

Basically it’s the boil a frog principal. Paying $5, 15 times is much more easily digestible for the vast majority of us than paying $60 1 time. ANet can make more money, with a constant revenue stream from the Gem Store, than if they charged a subscription, simply because it’s so convenient, consistent and cheap.

ANet isn’t bad for this either, it’s not a zero sum situation, as if ANet wins and we lose just because they take more of our money. We profit from this model as well. Being freed from the shackles of $15/30days, regardless of personal life, time constraints or temporal interest in the game, and not feeling as though you “have to play because you paid”, or you “can’t play without dedicating 29 more days of play” is valuable, not only for our wallets but for our peace of mind. I can get more value from $20 in the gem store and a weekend off work where I actually want to, and have time to play all weekend, than I do from $15 a month, every month, regardless of what’s going on (not really regarless because the $15 made me feel like my MMO is more more important than RL sometimes.. that’s never good.

Charity, the definition of greed right? Fortunately many companies that make a decent profit regularly get involved with charities. Some would even argue that most major charities would be unable to function without significant donations from those profitable companies.

GW2, exploiting vulnerable demographic?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892

JustTrogdor.7892

People bringing up things like “you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want”, that’s just ignorant. Psychology plays a large effect in gaming and business models. The problem stems from those who don’t have a lot of money see GW2 and buy it because it’s a one time purchase. These people also want a cheap way to boost they’re self esteem in a way by making their in game character impressive compared to their real life persona. So now that this demographic has been wrapped into the game they make it so a lot of the more impressive skins are in the cash shop in RNG chests, so it’s similar to how poor people tend to be addicted to lottery tickets. It’s not that this is a wrong thing to do or if it was even planned this way, but there are most likely correlations and it’s a dirty move by Anet if I do say so myself.

That doesn’t change the fact that indeed they don’t have to buy, self-esteem issues or not. In my opinion if someone needs video games to regulate their sense of self and their self-esteem then maybe they should consider seeing a therapist and participating in real world social activities. Last time I checked when I went to repair my armor I didn’t get a pop-up that said, “We’re sorry, you must now deposit $15.00 to repair your armor. Please select from paying via credit or Paypal”

I often go to amusement parks that have a one time gate fee (usually close to 60 dollars btw) that allow me to enjoy all the rides in the park at no extra cost. Now if I want a souvenir (read mini pet) as a “cheap way to boost my self esteem” as you claim, then I can chose to buy it or not. If I don’t I can still enjoy all the rides all day until the park closes.

People of low income want cheap ways to boost their self-esteem? Really? You know that as fact? That is on the border of a derogatory statement.

I worked for years with people living with a major mental illness and 9/10 those individuals were well below the poverty level. Most of my clients wanted real life accomplishment to boost their self-esteem. Given the fact that having a major mental illness often impairs judgment significantly you must find it hard to believe these unfortunate individuals with low income want something real out of life to improve their sense of self.

I have to admit that I am pleased with the response in this thread. I came here expecting countless posts of people blowing a fuse because they were in the middle of a dungeon and got kicked.

After all the madness here over updates happing in middle of events and the other debate to remain unnamed I’m glad to see a more light hearted response to this issue.

GW2, exploiting vulnerable demographic?

Yes, studies have shown that those lower on the poverty scale tend to have more problems with gambling due to the incorrect assumption that they are going to be the ones that finally get lucky. They will try to rationalize this as they are “owed” the item/money/thing, and lose control over their actions.

I still don’t think Anet is DELIBERATELY targeting these people, it’s just a by product.

I think there is a big difference between claiming that people of unfortunate economic status are trying to “get lucky” and win the lottery for real money and the likelihood that the same person will think, “Well I didn’t win the lottery so I’ll log in to GW2 to see if I can win a skin of no monetary value.”

People with low income that do play the lottery do so in the hope that they will no longer be low income. I’m willing to bet that if you approached someone struggling financially and said give me $100 and you might win this shirt you can look at on the computer but not wear they would think you are nuts.

Unfortunately your feeling it isn’t offensive is not the issue as at least someone did and the GMs must have agreed hence the suspension.

From what I have read the suspension is regarded as the warning. As I have seen many times here based on suspension of names it is best to highly consider names before you choose them.

Personally I would refrain from an references to bodily functions, references to sexual organs even if the word has a dual meaning, any sort of sexual innuendo, trying to use two words in an attempt to present an offensive term that is spelled differently but still pronounced the same when the two words are combined, and anything when you read it before saving might give the slightest hint of violating Code of Conduct.

I posted all that in an effort that others might read it as well because I see these types of threads regularly. However I don’t make the rules so the above is simply my opinion.

I hope you can change your name soon to something more appropriate and can continue to enjoy the game.

My wife and I have enjoyed playing this game off and on since September, and combined we’ve spent about $220 on it. The price per hour is ridiculously low for a fun and engaging hobby. I fail to see how this is extortion, nor do I defend the game because I am deeply invested in it. Very much the opposite, I don’t play the RNG lottery and I’ve taken breaks from it anywhere from a few days to several months.

I just don’t like to see people distort the truth to support baseless accusations.

I’ve made this argument before and many choose to ignore it. At the time I stated I had played a total of 106 hours. I think it would be extremely hard to find other forms of commercial entertainment where you can enjoy that many hours for $60. For example if you enjoy movies and go to the theater, you would have to watch 53 two hour movies at a cost of about $10 a movie = $530.

Since this is not a subscription based game the return of entertainment related to financial investment is huge. Keep in mind that many players have spent FAR more time playing than 106 hours.

Personally, even if I deleted the game right after this post, I feel I have gotten my money out of it. The fact that I can continue playing as long as I want for absolutely nothing is a bonus.

I can use a pretty popular example of what i’m talking about. In the case of Mass Effect 3 and EA selling relevant content as DLC was a really bad move (except you didn’t buy a chance at this content, which is way worse IMO). So much so that the outrage caused an entire change in the structure of how they treat DLC in the future. People got fired, heads rolled (so to speak), simply since they were seen as a greedy money grubbing corp. Speaking out on this practice should really hit home for ANet and i’m going to assume these crates were already a thing, but i can tell you for sure i won’t be buying them, ever, and i spent a nice chuck of cash on a fused ticket. Here’s hoping this goes away.

Do you you think that Anet/NCsoft didn’t invest a lot of time and money to assess that risk? If things turn south, mostly from lost revenue in games sold and gem purchases then I think there would indeed be a major be a change. Who knows it could cause a shift to a subscription model to help them maintain a profit. I’d hate to try to visit this forum if that happened.

Yes your statement regarding expressing the way you disagree by not buying these purchases is indeed an excellent way to cast your vote. I don’t like the way Walmart does business and the way their expansion has put countless locally owned business under. So, I don’t shop there, ever. Unfortunately it appears that the majority don’t care or they would be out of business. I still won’t shop there even though they have some stuff I want at a lower price.

I’m not trying to say that this isn’t a valid thread and people should just not say anything. I’ve rather enjoyed reading several points of views even though I may not agree with many of them. I’m simply saying that is very difficult to say what the majority of players think or want.

I do understand the concerns expressed in this thread and I can understand that. I agree that the RNG situation is a bit grey and I feel that if they at least posted odds of getting these rare items it would alleviate part of the problem. I’m just not a fan of the, “It’s not fair because I really really want it,” argument.

Now if everyone will excuse me I’ve been planing to pick up a few mini pets.

This is the sort of defense of this practice i see a lot on here. It’s not about having to have the items, it’s about wanting to have them. Comparing real life luxury items, with in game items is really a bit silly, don’t you think?

All of these in game items are still a real world purchase. You are purchasing digital content which is a real product. Also many have agreed that this digital content is a ‘luxury’ item. If it was needed to play the game then that is a different story.

Have you ever played a free game on a tablet app, phone, facebook? Almost of those games function on the same principal. You can play for free all you want but if you want the fancy building or what ever you have to pay for it. It’s often done in a similar fashion where the player buys coins. Many of these games are even more limited, only giving you so much land to build on for example unless you buy coins.

As many and myself have said many times over, the best way to cast your vote against it is to not open your wallet. This thread among many will probably have little or no affect. The only thing I agree with regarding the RNG chest is that they should present the actual odds to the buyer.

I’ve seen posts in this thread saying that people made gold by selling stuff from the SS boxes. That means not everything is bound.

Yep I bought I think 10 boxes and everything I got was some kind of mat I think. I’m fairly new so I noticed they were high level. I wasn’t sure what they were for or what they did so I sold them on the TP for some decent coin. They were all bought up with half an hour.

I’m not complaining because I decided they were worth the risk for me. I would have been much more unhappy if the chest was empty or it was a bunch of account bound stuff I couldn’t use.

That’s part of the problem; we don’t know the odds. The odds in casino games are readily available. The odds of getting a weapon skin from a GW2 rng box aren’t. “Rare” is too vague. I might consider 1 in 10 rare while you might consider 1 in 10,000 rare. If players at least knew the odds of getting item X, they would better be able to calculate the risk/reward and make a fully informed decision.

This is one issue regarding RNG I agree with. If people are paying cash they should disclose the odds to allow the consumer to assess risk v reward.

I don’t get the argument that Anet is greedy. Technically everything after the initial purchase of the game is free. It depends on the value of these items the individual puts on them. You never have to spend real money on gems. Personally I think that is pretty fair considering there is no subscription. If players feel that this ‘greed’ is out of hand they can vote against it by keeping your wallet closed.

I’d actually prefer a monthly subscription with some of these items dropping a bit more in game. But wait! That isn’t fair to the person that has less time to play because others play more and can get these items faster.

Everything after the initial purchase of the game is not free, not buy any stretch of the imagination. Earning that kind of gold to buy limited one time items is putting a time limit on how much gold you can earn before the items go away. In almost every case, you simply cannot earn enough gold to keep up with these special offers, it’s physically impossible. There will be plenty of people boasting that they can earn 100g a week, but the fact of the matter is, it’s not happening on any grand scale, if it were the economy would look entirely different.

But you don’t have to have those items to play. I don’t need to have a $500 watch to be able to tell time. I can buy a $60 watch and use it as long as it still functions. If I see it is available for a limited time I have a few choices. Work more to get it, spend expendable income I already have, or simply decide it isn’t worth the money and or time.

If this were a subscription based game you would have to pay to keep playing. You would have to decide is it worth the money? You would not have a choice aside from paying the monthly fee or trying to log in and finding an error message that your subscription has ended.

Statements that leave me incredulous:

1. You should work hard to enjoy your video game.

2. If you gamble for money and you at least get a payout of pocket lint for each try, it’s not gambling.

3. People want to be unique in a game played by hundreds of thousands of players.

I agree that there is no requirent to work hard to enjoy the game and as a self labeled casual player I don’t feel the need and I enjoy the game. I don’t get:

1. I have to spend more money to play the game. False gems are technically free since they can be bought for in game gold.

2. Anet is greedy because they are trying to make more money. Actually Anet is a subsidiary of NCsoft. They have a huge market share in Korea and shares are traded via the Korean exchange. So I would be willing to wager that many shareholders are probably in game as we speak and disagree that NCsoft should not try to make as much money as possible.

3. But it isn’t fair because other games do this, other games do that, WoW does this but GW2 doesn’t. GW1 did this but GW2 doesn’t. I always thought that 2 doesn’t = 1.

At the end of the day if you have only played 60 hours you have probably gotten your money worth at $1.00 per hour. If everything is so terrible there are several things players can do among others. Just don’t play anymore. Spend more time playing the MMO that does everything you want. Keep playing but don’t spend money in the gem store to cast your vote against the way it is set up. Or continue to complain here with a low probability of anything changing.

I have seen it claimed here many times that most players want ‘X’. People posting here, blogging, so and so the big time player made a video saying ‘this’ etc. are most likely a very minuscule percentage of total players. It would be extremely difficult to back up that claim without access to total player feedback.

Generally voluntary feedback is often skewed. The pattern most often seen is that those leaving feedback are usual very happy or very unhappy. People who are content or indifferent often don’t bother to leave feedback, do satisfaction surveys and such.
This is why you often see surveys on a purchase receipt that say, “Do our survey for a chance to win X amount of money.” They are trying to get those who are in the middle, yet highest percentage of customers, to leave feedback since they are the majority.

Then you toss in a probably high percentage of those that never come to these forums much less comment and it is even more difficult to assess how most players feel.

What to buy with gems?

Well keys are unpredictable as it is unknown what is in them. Whoever, you always get something, usually some temporary boosts. If you are not willing to take a chance then I would suggest not buying RNG chest especially at your level because the dropped items are usually high level materials and skins and such are Extremely rare. Also that is a very touchy subject for many here and I’m sure you will have someone chiming in soon. I buy a few form time to time just because I like to take a chance but so far have gotten the same items every time. I’m not complaining though and I sold them on the TP.

You can get some skins that look pretty cool. Just make sure to not do like me and buy a skin for the wrong armor type. I wasn’t paying attention and bought one for light armor when I wear medium.

If you like other perk items, a lot of people like mini pets that follow them around. They offer no stat boost and don’t fight. The thing I don’t like about them is that when you change zones you have to reactivate them again and I often forget.

I agree with the above, the first thing I bought was bank slots and bag slots. Bag slots are handy of you are grinding.

I think if you take the time to enjoy all the aspects of the game PvE, personal story, exploring, map completions you will enjoy it. There are a lot of neat things to find and see. Vistas, jump puzzles, high dives into lakes, NPC interaction and so forth. If you jump in and just race to level cap as fast as you can then you will probably miss out on a lot of what I consider the more enjoyable features of the game.

I don’t have anything against cap rushers because everyone is welcome to decide how they want to play the game. I simply prefer to enjoy all of the features of the game.

P.S. Stuck at 99% (1 File Left) I’m guessing I just need to wait although its at 0 kb/ sec.

Yes I have seen several posts on this in the tech support forums. The consensues seems to be to wait it out. I’ve heard anywhere from 10 minutes to over night. Hopefully it doesn’t take you that long.
