Good grief $50 to upgrade each of my accounts. Yeah I’ll just play something else. If it was $40 to upgrade then I could see that and would probably whip out my credit card and upgrade all 3 of my accounts. $10 isn’t much money but it’s the principle.
Well that is your decision. It’s your money so do with as you wish. No one is forcing you to buy the upgrade and the good news is you still get to play the core game all you want at no extra cost if you so choose.

I don’t need another core game. I won’t be buying unless there’s a straight up account upgrade for HoT. This isn’t about the money. It’s just shady.

Why are current players paying as much as the new players? New players get core game AND the expac while the current players get kittened for having to pay the same price while getting half of the package?
My guess is to attract new players as it was announced at E3. People are always claiming the game population is dying. Well one way to help with that is to find a way to attract new customers with some extra bonuses for buying the game.
You guys need to READ WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. Those prices INCLUDE a NEW activation key for a BRAND new account. That means with those prices you are not only getting heart of thorns, you are paying for a new account and heart of thorns. They havent released any prices for JUST a Upgrade.

Yeah I’m a little confused. Says the pre-order includes the base game. Which would explain the price. But most of us don’t need the base game…
It looks like first time customers get both the core game and the x-pac with pre-order.
If you buy a lot of gems already it looks like the Ultimate package is the best deal because it is $99 but you get $50 worth of gems with it.

The only option you have is to contact support to see if they will assist you. Follow the support link at the top of the page and then the submit a request link located at the top right of that page.
However, I don’t know if the chances of getting your character back are in your favor:

You don’t have to pay again. Go to “My Account > Download Client” and select either PC or Mac. Your login is the same as you use here on the forums.

CorrynnStarr you might want to review this thread regarding not receiving emails:
When a support ticket is submitted you almost immediately get an auto response email with a ticket number. So you may have missed it in your spam mail or something.
Also I am pretty sure I have seen people with your exact same problem get a gem refund so I would suggest you continue your efforts with support.
I contacted Anet by email and told them of the problem, but got 0 response. Now Im out 800 gems, still holding a useless bank expansion slot token, and no way to settle it.
Did you contact support through the online support form or did you send it to some Anet email address? If you used the online form did you at least get the auto response email with a ticket number? If so, did you follow up at all? Did you post your ticket number for review in the sticky thread located in the support forum after you heard nothing back?
Support has been known to let people swap rings when they have made the same mistake as you. You can contact support and see if they will help but I suggest you calm down a little first. 
Have you tried visiting the Black Lion Armorsmith Trader? Old town clothes get converted to the wardrobe system that way.
You will have to contact support for assistance. Follow the support link at the top of the page then the submit a request link located on the top right of that page.
Then take IC’s advice and post your ticket number in the sticky thread for review by the CS lead.

Okay here is the deal. You already received everything that was promised with the edition you purchased. You even confirmed that in your OP. Since then newer versions of game editions were added with more perks, probably to attract new customers. For example the old DD edition was replaced with the current one with the items you find in the heroic chest. No one that had the old DD version got the new items.
Fast forward to the first beta, once it was closed beta participants that had the base game (before heroic came out) and people that had the old DD edition got the Heroic Chest. This was explained, very late in the day after it happened, as being due to having to replace old SKUs with the currently used ones (the current Heroic and DD SKUs) which in turn sent all the beta participants with the old SKUs chests.
Anyone with the old base game or the old DD version did not get a chest if they didn’t participate in Beta. I argued at one point it would be fair to everyone to go ahead and upgrade everyone that still had the old SKU but that didn’t happen. Maybe it will at some point when they have more beta events.
tl;dr: You got the items you paid for in the edition you purchased. If you were not fortunate enough to be in beta you don’t get the extra stuff. There are thousands of players with the original DD edition that are in the same spot.

If you didn’t participate in the HoT betas you won’t get a chest. They were awarded to people that did the beta due to an issue when they closed the beta and having to change an SKU number from one that is no longer used.

When buying a game code all it does pay for your ability to create an account. Once an account is established by registering, the owner can download either version of the game by going to “My Account > Download Client” via the GW2 website and selecting which version to download, PC or Mac.
I think the Amazon purchase just emails you the serial code which is what you need to register the account.

Also, yes PC and Mac players play on the same servers. The Mac beta client isn’t much more than a cider wrapper that allows Mac customers to run the game. Your Mac friend should make sure their Mac runs above the recommended specs. They also have the option to run the PC version through Bootcamp which many users have reported provides a better experience.

This response does not answer my concern.
The ticket is not closed as far as I am aware, but the response did not address my issue, and included fabrications within the response, that I can prove. How does one escalate the matter to actually ensure an appropriate response. The forum rules state I cannot post to the link you have provided until after three days. I would like to know what ANet intends to do to address the fact that their employees are either deliberately or through ignorance lying to the customers in responses?
I would have been happy to address this matter in a less public manner, but they have taken steps to make that impossible.
Like I said you can respond to your ticket and request further review. Also tickets that appear to not have a satisfactory resolution can indeed be posted in the thread I linked. Here is a quote from the OP in that thread:

You can play with your friends despite what server you are on (as long as you are in the same region NA/EU) with all game modes aside from WvW. If you wish to WvW with your friends you need to be on the same server whether your pay to transfer or transfer for free by deleting all characters.
I don’t see how buying the game again would solve your problem since you are not willing to delete your character for a free transfer. Buying the game again would only give you a fresh account with no characters.

You said you got auto response emails. The ticket number should be included in those emails. It will say something in the email like, Your request (1234567: Topic of your request)" That 7 digit number is your ticket number. It should also be in the subject line of the auto email you received.
To close duplicate tickets reply to each duplicate ticket auto response email by asking to close this ticket due to duplicate tickets submitted or you no longer need help with this ticket. Do this with all but your first ticket request.

Like I said creating duplicate tickets slows response time. Close all but your original ticket and you can also post your original ticket number for review in the thread I linked in my first post.
If you were truly hacked Anet will rollback your account to before the hack so you don’t lose anything.

Also keep in mind submitting duplicate support tickets will slow your response time. So you should close all duplicate tickets you may have created.
