I understand. I came back from a trip to Europe several years ago to find my house ransaked. It took me a long time to deal with it. It wasn’t the monetary loss that got to me. It was the feeling of having my personal space vilolated.

It isn’t specific to computer. Your account information is not tied to any computer you use. Your computer got stolen, and that sucks. However, the theif would have to launch the game and then try to log in with auto fill. Chances are you already have at least email authentcaition enabled since you said you have 2 step autentication. So that would thwart that. Plus you changed your password so that helps as well.

That aside, it would not hurt to submit a support ticket and explain what happened. They work every day and from my experince get back very soon. They may ask you to change passwords/emails again.

Sorry you got robbed. That has happened to me before and it sucks.

CS works everyday and on holidays. You will have to submit a support request and wait for a response.

I’m not sure what you mean by your laptops are linked to your account. There are only 2 forms of authentication available, email authentication and mobile authentication. The later works through your cell phone. There is no computer specific form of authenication.

I have stated several times that I am not upset. A bit displeased but not upset. Maybe people should stop telling me how I feel or what my opinion on the issue should be. I believe that would be a fair agreement.

I guess I have said all I have to say on the issue once again. Hopefully Anet will read this or our forum specialist will forward it to them.

Ok. You were a bit displeased to unexpectedly be given an extra character slot. Displeased enough to be thinking of contacting support about it.

Good luck on getting a resolution that satisfies you.

Anet did do right by me and gave me 800 gems in lieu of the 2nd character slot. Thanks Anet staff and awesome customer support!

Keep in mind this probably only applies to the the people that bought the Deluxe/Ultimate prior to the announcment of the veteran loyalty slot.

Ahh that makes sense so rather then having to sift through suggestions for wvw, pvp, prof, dungeon etc they have to sift through general discussion to find relevant suggestions; which may or may not be posted in the right sections.

Like I said I respect the decision, I just kinda like the idea of having one place where suggestions could go.

If you see a post in GD that belongs in a more appropriate forum report it. From my expereince the mods do a great job of moving them to the proper forum.

You seem interested in helping Anet draw attention to relevant posts. My suggestion above is one way you can help. It not only helps by moving the thread to the proper forum but it also makes the post more visable to the devs responsible for that aspect of the game as well as the forum specialists responsible for that area.

I agree to some extent. However, before when there was a suggestion forum everything went there. PvP,WvW,PvE,Crafting,Professions, and so forth were all mashed in the suggestion forum. Posts scrolled down the page faster than most people interested could probably keep up.

Now if there is a suggestion in a forum that it does not match, for example a PvP suggestion posted in general discussion, it often gets moved to the relevant forum.

In my view, the general discussion forum is more or less the PvE forum. So anything suggested that is not directly related to PvP/WvW/Professions or other sub-forum topics goes here.

Plus with the advent of fourm specilaists it helps them find relevant posts based on their specialty.

The suggestion forum was where threads went to die many times over. I had mixed feelings about it going away at first. Now I am glad it no longer exists. Suggestions are now posted in the relevant forums and it isn’t a mash up of suggestions from all aspects of game play. The old suggestion forum was a real mess at times.

Then post as the person in your OP, Storm, if you want to discuss the topic. Don’t do things like this that you delete later when you are caught posting from an alt account in support of your own post, see image below. Also, techincally posting from alternate accounts is against forum rules. I doubt it is upheld much but food for thought.

Sooooo just wondering, for anyone else that got the character slot refunded: Do you still have the character slot and beta slot?

I do have the character and beta slot, but I’m guessing based on what support said I will not recieve the loyalty slot. Instead I received my 800 gems. If for some reason I do receieve the loyalty slot as well I will contact support to let them know I received something I should not have thanks to their attention to my request.

This game is subscription free and people can come and go as they choose. I see posts all the time from people saying they have not played for a year or more and are back. How do you think they would feel if their name was suddenly gone? They would probably be pretty angry. It may even be enough to keep them from returning.

Names are not hard to come up with. I started playing over a half a year after release and several of my characters have what I consider really good names. Many of them are even 4-5 letter names that make sense.

Are we supposed to be contacting ANet if we prepurchased? I was going to be patient about it, but one of my guildies already got the two slots for Ultimate, but I haven’t.

Your guild member may be confusing the beta slot with the 2nd slot. To the best of my knowledge the loylaty slots have not been sent out yet. If you are due one I’m sure it will be sent when they go out.

Just checking in since I said I would report back when I received an answer to this issue. It took a few emails back and forth with support but I too have recieved the 800 gems in lieu of the 2nd character slot. A support ticket will not do any good. The HoM is still down for everyone and I highly doubt they will be able to unlock it for people on a case by case basis. The last reports were that they are close to a fix but no ETA of when it will be done.

I don’t know. Maybe those Redditors missed the Patch Notes that announced an increase in the drop rate a few months back. Scraps seemed to be almost a guarantee with every key; sometimes 2 scraps per key.

Maybe, with your feedback, another increase will be forthcoming. =)

The profinity filter is in place for those that choose to not see profanity at all. It is not a license to swear. Anet has stated before that an occasional slip in the heat of the moment or what not will not result in suspension. However, excessive profanity or profinity used in an abusive manner will earn you a time out.

If you are earning regular suspensions perhaps consider modifying your behavior. Eventually those suspensions could result in a permanent ban.

If you purchased the Ultimate edition, the only one that comes with gems, you get them as soon as you register the upgrade, the same thing with the character slot that comes with Ultimate/Deluxe. If you buy the expansion in game through the gem store the upgrade is automatic. If you buy the expansion through the website store you register via the instructions sent.

If you upgrade in game via the gem store it automatically upgrades your account.

If you buy the upgrade through the website store you will be sent the serial code to the email address you use to buy the expansion. You can then register it to your account following the instructions sent in the email.

You can still play the core game at no cost. All you have to do is log in. If you eventually want to play the expansion content when it is released you will have to buy it. If you want to play in the expansion beta weekends and receive the free loylaty character slot you will have to buy the expansion pre-purchase that is on sale now.

The XP boosters, tome, golem banker etc you referenced are for the core game Deluxe edition, not HoT. You received all the items for the HoT Deluxe/Ultimate edition. The glider skin you received and can’t find, if you clicked it it has been added to your account and will be availabe for view in Beta and when Hot goes live.

Yes, those thought bought the Deluxe/Ultimate got the character slot right away. Veteran players that bought/buy Standard pre-purchase will be sent the loyalty slot at some point as noted in my first post. Veteran players that bought Deluxe/Ultimate will also receive the loyalty slot.

Well, I got mine straight away, plus another one for beta use. But I literally pre-ordered the very instant the popup appeared while I was playing, so I may well just have beaten the rush, and maybe things got a bit slower later when there was an influx of people pre-ordering. So I suspect timing may play a small part in this.

What edition did you buy? The only editions that included the character slot when the pre-order was first released were the Deluxe and Ultimate.

Since they have not announced they have sent them out yet like they stated in the post I linked it is hard to say. Perhaps they started sending them out in waves like they have other items in the past and have not announced it. My suggestion is to be patient and wait for an announcment before you get worried about receiving your slot.

If you are talking about discussing trades from player to player, for example WTS/WTB chat, not on the GW2 forum. Anet doesn’t support player to player trading and thus it is not allowed on the forums.

If you are talking about discussing the TP in general and that type of trading, for example the cost of items, then you can discuss that in this forum.

Why not let players be literal street performers?

I could work exactly the way it does in real life:

you have a tip jar item you can plop down in cities, and play an instrument next to, and players can interact with it which gives them the option to drop some coins in.

The tip jar is an interesting idea and one I have seen posted before. But to once again be a downer, Anet might then have to reconsider their policy that allows people to use macros to play musical insturments. This might give those people a perceived advantage while “competing” for tips as they simply stand there and push one key to play music all day. Of course people can already tip players via mail if they so choose, but I thought I would bring the issue up anyway.

I upgraded from the pre-heroic version (outdated SKU) to the Ultimate Edition and did not receive any of the heroic items. I don’t know if they will be delivered after a beta or not like the people in the first 2 beta. My gut tells me probably not because my thinking is since I upgraded I probably went from the out of date SKU to one currently in use.

There is already a slider to turn off music inturment sounds. But that kind of goes agianst the purpose of what the OP was asking for. If everyone turns it off because people are just spaming noise for a reward then the OPs request has no point.

So someone can just go to some corner of a main city and spam keys for 15 minutes and get 1 gold? Or worse randomly spam keys just making noise around everyone else to earn their gold. Not to mention the fact that people have to buy insturments from the gem store (with the exception of the 2 bells that were winters day rewards) in order to earn their one gold. Many people would not be happy about this. Anytime you tie gem store items into ingame currency/items that can only be earned via a gem store purchase people won’t be a fan of that.

The safest way always is to farm the gold. Different people have very different results with the Mystic Forge. You could end up losing all your gold (most likely case) or get exteemly lucky and get it after a few tries (least likely case).

That said I wouldn’t go around announcing that your friend gave you his account as that is against the ToS and could end with the account being permanently banned.

I have been talking with support for 2 days on this issue. Unlike the other two in this thread they tell me it isn’t something they can or will do even though I linked to all the discussions where others that purchased Ultimate have received the 800 gems. They keep telling me the only people that got gems were people that bought a character slot directly from the gem store after buying the expansion and before the announcment of the loyalty slot. Even though I have shown them this isn’t the case from what others posted, I am having no luck.
