I’m getting hung up on this back to back. Caithe’s thing with Folain has never been very spot light. It’s a thing that exists as part of her backstory and on the very few occasions where the two are brought together, but no more so than Logan pining for Jenna.
No, I would have to say that the Majory/Kasmeer romance has been the only romance to take front and center and be culminated in any meaningful way. Everything else, other than the two Quaggans being super mushy, has been kittenfooted around, regardless of how that romance has been presented.
[SPOILERRR] He accomplished the most so far I believe. Cleansing Orr and all…
Or isn’t Cleansed, have you been there lately? It’s nasty.
Good for your server getting it, but most people aren’t going to see their server again for two weeks. At least with the previous event there was the chance to jump into your server if you were fast enough. Now that LA doesn’t close there’s just no way.

Yeah, Last night I was in it for Red, then Blue then Green. I got it for Red and then nothing else. This was after the patch. There was no bugginess and I was able to complete the whole thing through Scarlet, but yeah, I was expecting more. I also did not receive the assured bonus for having completed the event that was described in the notes.
What attack are you even talking about? The only attack I can think of in this entire event that seems to be legitimately unblockable is the Spider Queen Cocoon attack. That might be bad timing on dodges, but I suspect it’s more to do with the unique nature of the attack, since it’s an immobilize and a transformation.
Nothing in any of the actual major events was unblockable.
Ok, that’s cool, I did not know that.

You should read more carefully. The “tempered” backpiece is the ascended version. You need a “tempered” backpiece to make a colored variant.
Fine->Masterwork->Rare->Exotic->Ascended->Colored
The ingredients you listed to make the ascended back is the ingredients to INFUSE it.
Um, he’s talking about Infusing here and always was.
I don’t have the gold to craft the back piece to see the final cutscene.
I can’t get the buffs to enter the portal to see the cutscene because either my server can’t coordinate or the champion event bugs out.
I don’t know what else to do but uninstall the game, chalk it up as a loss and move on to something else.
Yeah… that definitely seems like the answer. You aren’t able to get to the end of a single story on the first day of two weeks, because of coordination problems and growing pains intrinsic in this type of event, so just quit for good. That is obviously a reasoned and temperate response to the situation at hand.
Or, and this is really stretching, you could give it some time. Work with your server, guest to a better server, or look for a capable overflow and do it that way. Also, unless you are exceptionally poor, it should be possible to pull together the resources to make the Exotic version. It really doesn’t involve a lot, other than 425 Blade Shards which you have to collect yourself anyway.
So, once this is over, and presumably we’ve pushed Scarlet and all her minions out of LA (which I totally suspect might not even be a thing. I mean we “killed” Zaitan and all the Risen are still everywhere,) will the Aether puzzle become a new farm location for people still trying to finish off their Spinal Blades?

back, with an a
You DO NOT NEED the spinal blade pack to do the story. You ONLY need it to go through the secret entrance. The regular entrances to the drill just require attunement buffs from all three assault knights which spawn at the top of the hour in Lion’s Arch. Going to the SECRET entrance is just for people who want to skip straight to the ending so that they don’t have to worry about the assault knights or the hologram fight failing. The secret entrance does NOT give you the whole instance, it merely shows the ending where Scarlet has already been wounded and you can finish her off and see the final cutscene!
TL;DR no, the spinal blade pack isn’t needed to participate.
Thank you, that was kind freaking me out.
I just don’t understand how you could fail to accidentally complete one of the Dailies in the two weeks this has been out. I’ve done at least 3 before I even knew what it was.
Unfortunately because of the nature of Battle for LA it’s possible there will be no new Escape from LA Dailies, BUT there might still be. Typically after the first two weeks of a new story, when the second half of the story is introduced, you still have the ability to complete the first group of achievements, including dailies. It may become harder to complete some, because the entire focus of the event is changing, but they should be there.
Look around, there is info everywhere…
Right… everywhere BUT on ANet’s own site. This is one of the things that kittened me off about TOR, having to go to someone elses site to find out about the game, rather than the game site itself.

Can’t stop laughing.
I don’t see what the big deal is.. The 1200 bag you get issues crap loot.. I get more and about the same loot from the other bags.. So iI for one wouldn’t mind not getting the reward you seem to think you worked so hard for.. But you ever heard of team effort? This is all set up just for that and the way it’s supposed to be played. You my friend are a farmer to If all you do is rescue civs. as there are many other objectives to the whole La thing….
Fact, Loot bags drop a thing. Fact,Tier bags drop a couple things. Fact, Ultimate bags drop 4-6 things per bag. The only reason you get more out of the other bags is because you HAVE more of the other bags.
Yes more often than not the stuff is junk, but that is true across the board. You still have a higher chance of getting at least rare junk from Ultimate than anything else. I emptied 500 Loot bags and I don’t think I got any rares. 50 Tier bags won me about 3 rares. 10 Ultimate bags got me 6-10 rares, plus a few exotic recipes.
While you may not agree with people playing the game how you want them to, they did PAY for the game so they have the right to play the game how they want to.
Stop bleating and whining and play the game you PAID for the way you want.
Problem is the event cannot be completed the intended way with the way some of the fine folks are playing “the way they want”, as in zerging in one big mob and AFKing. Of course, they will say: too bad! at least we’re getting loot.
And it is so, ANet has not done anything about it – and again, it’s the same as with the Marionette event – my success depends on others who may or may not be on the same level or frequency as me. That’s the problem with these large events. What ANet needs to learn from this is not to make events where players have to fight each other to complete them, or make goals where everyone has to work toward a common goal. (and don’t use the excuse that zergers contribute, no server with huge zerg ever makes it to 1500 or even 1200.)
Actually I have seen many instance of mass zerging succeeding quite handily. I don’t know how well they handle Molten Miasma, but the other events just get destroyed.
And it really doesn’t matter how big the zerg is as long as there are still dedicated rescuers.
they should have removed loot from killing mobs and left only the Tier rewards
No thank you. There is no way in hell I could have pulled off 425 Blade Shards for eleven characters off the skimpy Meta rewards. As is I’m still three characters short.
well, Tier rewards adjusted to not having any loot from killing mobs, i’m thinking about 150 bags as top reward as i’ve seen people gathering up to 180 just farming
Oh, yes… well that would be fine then.
There is only one reason to farm EfLA, and that is to make a lot of Spinal Backpacks.
Otherwise it’s just dependent on if you find it fun or not.
I took this as an opportunity to level one of my characters to 80.
I have more blades than I care for and destroyed a few thousand. Turning in Found Belongings for Tomes has me going from level 29 to 73. I have learned ow to play the class more effectively and can participate in almost all content, regardless of if I am leveled to 80 or not.
As far as making money, I’ve made less than I have with a few minutes crafting Masterwork items to sell at the TP.Farming is one of those bad habits people have picked up playing MMOs.
Even if I am farming XP for a character, I have found more success in smaller groups because Champs don’t drop what I am looking for.
Seems reasonable. I’ve been spending all my Belongings on Obsidian Shards. I’m not worried about leveling a character up really fast and I figure I might actually want to make ascended stuff some day.

20 times the health of Tequatl.
For the love of god, please no.
And you have to beat it in five minutes or your character is deleted.
I was missing 8 heirlooms for the AP and I got 10 in a row but the achievement didn’t progress, did anyone notice this too today? I’m sure I didn’t get heirlooms last night after reset btw, as I interacted with the piles I got 1 heirloom, it just didn’t make any progress.
If you’re talking about the LS Achievement it isn’t for heirlooms, it’s for salvage locations. You have to find 30 different spots, not collect 30 heirlooms.
My issue is thus:
I need the supply bags to get shards… but saving civilians (which is sort of the object of the event) is less than rewarding (for bags) in comparison to zerging or event farming simply due to the distinctly fewer kills in a lot of instances.
I rarely do anything but save civs, and I have more shards than I can use.
Getting bags is very easy and you can get them from mobs while saving civs.(which you do have to fight to keep the path cleared from them.)I’ve been doing a lot of civ saving, and yeah I kill quite a few foes, but I only get maybe half the number of bags as I would if I were running events with say, half a dozen people. Considering I need probably somewhere around 9k shards for the backpacks I have planned… I can say I’m no where near that count.
sigh
Ah well, lofty goals. We’ll see what I manage by the end.
What is that, about 6 colored ascended backpacks?
I hadn’t even taken the colors into consideration as yet. I was aiming for 10 (one for each current character) of base ascended status. Since this one is presently the least expensive non-fractal option.
Ahhh, I’m making 11, but I’m stopping at Exotic cause I don’t care about fractals and Exotic has more stat options. I still need a little over 2000

Why is this still a question?
Because lack of clear official information. If someone in Anet reads my post here… please guys consider this: when you are in a Living World update cycle, whenever there is something such as tokens like the heirlooms introduced that are likely not permanent, give us clear (spoiler-free!) info on when we should use them by and such. Not necessarily the day the update goes live, but at the very latest a few days before the next LW build.
I know as people mentioned the rule of thumb based on LW season 1 is that most start of month releases run through the end of the month in tandem with the month’s second release but really, if you could just improve on this aspect of dev-to-community communication it would be great.
Honestly, the easiest way to do this is already implemented ingame. Just add a downtimer to the Living World Achievement tab.
“Something about bonfires” is about as much as we know on how the Hylek figured out some details. The Hylek also weren’t too keen on sharing that info as the Priory weren’t directly told.
I’m not fully sure how a bonfire would help with poison analysis… unless it involves cremation.
Yes, the bonfire was intended to indicate they were burning the corpses of their dead

I only agree in so far as there should be more incentive to fulfilling the meta event.
At least during the invasion farming was completing the meta event. In this case the meta event is entirely removed from the things actually occurring in the zone. People like to claim that they get as many bags out in the corners of the zone saving Civs as those farming huge mobs but it’s just not true.
There should be some value in saving Civs, like every Civ that you personally had a hand in saving, encouraging or ressing, gets you a bag when they despawn.

I think a good solution would be to put a ressing timer instead of a AFK timer.
Aetherblade Assassins will randomly spawn on players sometimes no matter where you are. They’ll be just normal mobs (ie, not vets or elites and doesn’t scale), so to any non-afking player, it won’t really matter at all since you’ll just kill it in seconds, but if you’re afk, of course it’ll kill you.
If you don’t res within 2 minutes (for anyone), you get kicked out of LA. Timer resets if you receive healing within that time from someone trying to res you.
People might argue that what if you die in an event and are waiting to be resed? Well, if no one is trying to res you for 2 minutes, the chances are that they probably won’t res you at all until the event ends, so in other words, you should just WP.
That is a really clever, over complicated, and ultimately obnoxious solution to the problem. I tend to think that reducing the AFK timer would be the better solution, but this would potentially work, yes.
Of course, it also wouldn’t. I know for a fact this wouldn’t kill my character. A level 80 random Aetherblade doesn’t have the damage to get through my regen before my pet kills it.

Kal I have heard of auto run. If someone was at the helm they would of seen that for 20 minutes or so, the wall was not moving. As far as griefing, I am not bothered by it since it was a bot. It was reported and has since been removed.
They autorun to avoid the AFK timeout… mostly cause they’re dumb and don’t realize they can’t time out. That doesn’t make it a bot.
As for reporting them, fine, report them and let ANet handle it, don’t grief them by getting them killed. That’s not your call. As for the result, you have no way of knowing anything of the sort. You can believe whatever you want, but since no one would actually tell you anything your supposition is meaningless.
There are so many grammatical errors in your post above – I would suggest you do not point out others errors and work on your own.
You’re welcome for enlightening you.
But you failed. See, I told you what your error was and why it was an error. You did nothing of benefit. So feel welcome, but it’s entirely your own. At least you learned something.
Besides, I didn’t correct your grammar, I corrected your spelling.

They autorun to avoid the AFK timeout…
Didn’t they fix that a while back? I don’t think auto-run/auto-cast have an impact on the AFK timer anymore… it detects player input, not character actions.
Could be, but since the timer doesn’t go off within 45 minutes, it doesn’t matter either way.
I suspect it’s based on how the reward is presented.
Living Story events last for a month. The patch on March 4th will last for 2 weeks coinciding with the remainder of the original month’s Living Story update.

People care far to much on what other people do.
I myself could care less if someone is botting.
Unless it effects me – which 99.9% of the time it doesn’t – I could care less.
I have never “lost” a LA because of bots. (by loose I mean not hit the 1200 mark)
You could literally think of a million other issues that should be addressed in this game before even thinking about this.
P.S. A lot of those standing in front by the portals aren’t bots – they are simply people who zone in and afk.
This isn’t really a win or loose event – so once again I’m not sure why people care.
Pet peeve. “Lose.”
You can win or lose, but you can’t loose. You can loosen, but that requires interacting with something. Pants and screws can be loose.

You cant have a wonderful game without having bots. It is sad having the bots running around screwing with the economy. The thing I don’t want to see is if they introduce the dueling, bots will randomly duel you and win. That will deter me from playing.
Speaking of bots, this one was hilarious. I saw a bot running into a wall. nothing else just running face first in a wall. I saw a mob not to far off and aggroed a massive amount and brought them back. what happened next was sweet justice. The bot held his own for awhile then with me getting more help from aggro… heh heh heh. He/She was overwhelmed and was defeated. I flew the one finger salute as the bot perished.
First off, ever heard of auto run?
Second off, that’s griefing and punishable.

Why is this still a question?
You have no way of knowing that. Ya most of the time, that how it worked. But the meta for Fractured AND EotM lasted only 2 weeks. Anet could do anything in the next weeks. Maybe, that they will change L.A. map so the Lion Guard assault it an retake the City, by this time all citizen had been rescued and you can’t finish the same events. Maybe the L.A. map won’t be change and that we will need to go inside the big drill in an instanced for the last Living Story.
Maybe it will finish 2 weeks after the last Living Story update, but then want will L.A. looks like? They can’t simply get it back the way it was. Will they simply erase all event while not changing anything in the map layout? Will they wait until the 18th March to change L.A. into a semi-permanent ruined city without the current events, while the drill instance could still be reachable until 1st April (so the last Living Story last 1 months like most of them), or the last Living Story content will only be accessible for 2 weeks?
They can do a lot of things and we don’t know right now.
Edge of the Mists wasn’t the main event. The Marionette was, and that lasted for the entire month. I suspect Fractured was the same situation, but I don’t recall specifically.
That’s how it works. The main event lasts a month. The event that comes in at the two week mark lasts for two weeks, so they both end at the same time.
This will be no different. Escape from Lion’s Arch will continue for the next two weeks. On March 4th we take the fight to the drill. The Teleporter things all about the Drill will become accessible, probably as a new coordinated event, and then we’ll get to attack the Drill.
If this is actually how they’re doing it you can kiss Meta Event rewards goodbye for a while, but Heirlooms and Blade Shards will still be accessible.
I have bag full of junk. So it’s highly likely that they will stay.
So far the only Living Story item that has been destroyed is the golem summoner from the last Halloween. Using it after halloween just deletes it.
I wish they did the same to all these items with no purpose. So I can know they have no use by double clicking them. I’m not deleting them otherwise.
I agree actually.
I feel bad if I have to destroy something. like it “might” be useful for something sometime XD.
It would be nice if at the end of an event, they gave everything a vendor value, so you gain something from them ):I don’t agree. I keep stuff purposely as keepsakes. Going from Flame&Frost trophies to tri-color and cypher keys. The usable items are not for use. ^^
/saneBut I don’t expect blade shards (or anything else much) to just disappear. I’m half expecting them to stay available in some form but this is just guessing. I wanted several thousands to slowly (over months/years since I don’t even have maxed crafts and I refuse to buy stuff from TP) create the backpieces. My only problem is that I can’t get enough of them if they aren’t available after the patch. ;_;
LOL … keep it to just look pretty in your bag? :P
I have 1500 shards as is, I hope they bring it in as a new collectable/crafting item, and allow trade/sell. I hate all this account bound stuff.
But if they don’t getting enough shards to make the back piece for character shouldn’t be hard.
And why make more than one back piece? there will be others brought in that you’ll likely want anyway. At the moment I don’t think it’s about the skin, it’s about the fact that it is very nearly the cheapest back piece available for the stats (especially the exotic)
Exactly. I don’t like the skin at all, at least not for any of my characters, but I’m making one for all of them because I can define the stats. Also, if another skin shows up later that I like more I can always transmute it.
Unfortunately I need 425 Blade Shards per character and I have 11 characters. I’m only a few characters behind though, so that’s not bad.

Oh, please. I am not denying there are AFKers in this event, because there are, but if you want your screenshots to actually prove anything, do them in the x:20-x:40 minutes range. Not at the very beginning (when people are still entering/loading) or ending (when people congregate near portals in order to evacuate on time).
I have – you didn’t see my other postings with pics.
I have seen them every time I have had to respawn because the event is scaled WAY to large for the number of active players.
Stop trolling and try to understand that there are two types of players:
Those who follow the rules.
…And those who just want to get by and skirt ANY rules.
Events scale based on the number of people actively participating in them, not on the number of people simply logged into the zone. If you’re simply logged in, but not participating in an event, then you’re not affecting the scaling. This is why it’s recommended that only 8-10 people actively participate in the miasma events, to KEEP them from scaling up — even though there may be 500 people actively running around LA.
500 people can’t fit in a zone. 150, roughly.

Hey look! This again.
They aren’t bots. They are afk. Play YOUR game and stop worrying about what other people are doing. The more time you spend looking and complaining about afkers the less time you are saving civilians.
When the events aren’t scaled for the number of players INSIDE the event, then we can stop the AFK discussion, until then it’s taking from those who are doing the work – kinda like the world we live in but this doesn’t cause others to die in the real world…
It’s indicative of those who are selfish – they will continue to be selfish until someone forces them not to be… they can’t learn it on their own. Sad.
Sorry, what? How is the event “scaled?” You can complete the entire thing with between 50 and 75 people, total. That’s all it actually takes to finish the event. 1/3 to 1/2 of the total population. That means every single person beyond that is extra and can do whatever they want.
If you’re failing, it’s not because of AFKs. Interestingly enough, forcing someone not to be selfish doesn’t make them not selfish, because they’re being forced. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
The problem I have with it is that the Lionguard has NO authority over Evon right now. None what so ever. They’re in Vigil Keep. They’re not in any holding of Lion’s Arch nor the Lion Guard. They’re are under the protection of the Vigil, taking up space in on Vigil ground in Kryta proper. Evon may be a resident of Lion’s Arch, but right now, he’s not and for all they no his residence doesn’t even exist any more. As such he has no reason to be beholden to anything they say.
Evon is a citizen of LA even if LA is currently occupied. As a citizen, he has to follow LA’s law. And LA’s law allow them to conscript citizens under martial law. Once conscripted, they are soldiers. Any soldiers who desert are punishable by execution.
It doesn’t matter that they are staying at Vigil’s space at all. It’s like saying soldiers who desert in enemy or neutral territory cannot be punished.
Actually it matters a great deal. They’re not anywhere under Lion Guard jurisdiction, therefore they have no authority to do anything to or with Evon, nor his property.
It might make him persona non grata with Lion’s Arch, but the bribe to get that lifted would probably be significantly less than what the Lion Guard is likely to take from him under the current situation.

I was the same way, but having 6 20 slot bags almost completely full of junk that can’t be used by anything, I decided I was hording and deleted a lot of old event items.
Why does everyone think they’re not available after the patch? After the patch we will gain access to College Cores to change the color of the Spinal Blade backpack. Blade Shards are still part of the recipe, as far as I know, so they’ll still be important, necessary, and available.
This lacks one key detail. Scarlet was already fully active long before anything took place between Evon and Kiel.

While it’s easy to assume that everyone not moving is some lazy leech that refuses to help.. a lot of them are:
- alt-tabbed to an achievement guide to figure out their next step.
- clearing some inventory by using the Trading Post.
- chatting with others, possibly to co-ordinate events.
- still loading in.
No, seriously. Some of them may be, but the ones clustered around the gate the entire time are leechers, period. That’s a thing.

The OP does have a valid point though. Not once have I been able to get into my servers LA instance, I have been placed into overflows (Story of my life in GW2, the pain that is constant overflows). Now if people are AFK’ing in LA they should be kicked to allow those of us that would like to try and organise something with our own server to do so.
Sorry, but no. I’m from TC which is one of the top pop servers and I can still manage to get into my server 2 out of 5 tries or better. If you really want to be in there you can get in there.

I’ll quote myself since still there are ppl who believe auto-afk-kicker is a problem. No girls, it isn’t.
That’s amazing how ridiculous ideas some come up with. Punish afkers, ban afkers, kill afkers. This is 3rd thread (I think) about the same and yet you can’t see that the problem is reward system giving loot to afkers.
Quoting yourself isn’t going to change anybody’s mind if the first time didn’t.
