I don’t know about nerfing the mat drop rate, but they have definately gone out of their way to reduce the number of drop worthy sites. I don’t farm Mats so I wouldn’t have even noticed if not for a similar thread in which someone proclaimed the Skelk spawn in Southsun to be the premier location for Mat farming only to have that specific spawn reduced in the patch just a few days later.
That’s how I ground out my Ascended Quiver. Granted that’s not a Legendary. I think it’s pretty much Guaranteed that’s not going to happen. I’m honestly amazed that they never nerfed the T6 Mat bag from the Laurel vender. Getting three mats, just for having played each day seems pretty amazing to me.
I really don’t understand, and I suspect most everyone else doesn’t get it either. The game is designed so that you’re never technically over leveled for the area you’re in. Because of this there is no reason to also forcibly restrict your level at any point. If you wanted to “level up” your gear through the areas you were in you shouldn’t have upgraded your gear through crafting.
I used the method you described and it worked out just fine. I only ever had as good of gear as I ran into as I was leveling. I still don’t have full level 80 Masterwork, let alone rare or exotic. I’m working on it, since I’ve finally worked my way into level 80 zones, but I don’t have it.
In any case, if we don’t understand what you’re trying to do, I don’t see the devs inplementing this because there doesn’t seem to be any cause.
I always concider doing the salvaging, but you have to salvage 16 items every day in order to accomplish it. My main means of completing dailies is to run the last four event chain in Harathi Hinterlands. It completes an increadible number of tasks. Four events completes the monthly in 25 days if I do nothing else. I can get anywhere from 5-10 veterans completing the monthly in a couple weeks if I do nothing else. If I do nothing else the longest it takes to complete the 4 dailies is a week, because sometimes I just can’t get enough out of it, like Maguma, Ascalon and Shiverpeak requirements. I can acquire a lot of salvage items, but I don’t like to salvage equipment because it’s worth more as cash, and I definately don’t get 16 every day. I don’t know that I get 16 daily even if I did salvage everything.
I think 300 would be more reasonable. It would definately bring this task in line with the rest of them for the amount of actual effort needed to complete it.
I could concider putting that on my dagger dagger thief
…if it’s the time-restrictions, for the love of god please Anet, spend more time in making content and make it real good. This is just another auto-attack Meta-Event, and because of the lackluster presentation (no unique boss-monster) one of the worst imho. Despite the very good build-up.
See this right here is where Super Adventure Box ruined it for everyone. Eight guys built an entire three zone event with entirely unique everything. They didn’t have close to the resources available to the live team, yet they put together gold while these guys are doing what? Scripted some events, wrote some lines and got it voiced, and made a single very small instance. Oh, and made three unique assets in the two back items and sickle. Other than that everything was stuff that was already there. No new mobs. No special powers. None of that stuff.
I was definately disappointed to find that the Queen is just another Karka who happens to be Legendary difficulty. They could have tried to throw something on there.
The randomly unique mechanic isn’t that impressive either. The Karka queen has multiple stacks of armor that you have to throw karka eggs at to drop off. The eggs spawn seemingly randomly, but concidering the zerg, all it’s doing is giving everyone in the zone enough time to reach her before she’s crushed.
It isn’t a special mechanic like Null who spawns air elementals and eventually starts stacking what is effectively agony with a different name. Or the Berzerker who threw out shockwaves you could actually jump over rather than dodging. Those are good unique mechanics. But whatever, two rare+ drops guaranteed is fine by me.
There is nothing legendary about attaining one if you can purchase it off the tp. Most of the requirements for attaining a legendary (w.o purchasing off tp) require grinding and farming (goes against statement of game purpose) in addition to each time there’s a decent farming spot, they nerf it into oblivion. (Can anyone say skelk farming on southsun nerfed yesterday?!?)
It doesn’t go against the game purpose because getting a Legendary isn’t the purpose of the game. The philosophy is, if you want that super special cosmetic item, grind for it. Everything else you can just do.
I did notice the skelk farm nerf, though. Too bad. Maybe people shouldn’t repeatedly spam the locations of the best places to farm across the forums, specifically letting the devs know where to hit.
I don’t like the idea of crafting a precursor, and now with the state of the game I see no need for precursors anymore, no way to really obtain the T6 materials for the crafting of the legendary weapon anyway since Anet has removed every single farming spot in the game, you have to buy them off the TP and no one wants to do that, I mean making a legendary weapon you want to MAKE IT YOURSELF, not buy the stuff from the TP, you want to fight and work for it so you feel a sence of accomplishment, they stole this from us and now we have nothing in the game to really work towards with no end game.
Not that bad of an idea tho, I just think it should be harder to acquire then just crafting.
Buy teir 6 crafting mats for 1 laurel every day. Then ten each month. You get 3 per bag. If you need all of them, just keep collecting. If you only need one of them, sell all the ones you don’t need and buy the one you do with the profits.
No to crafting Precursers
Um, there already is a penalty. Half of your damage output disappears. When your pet is killed the cooldown to swap back to it is a minute, so if both of your pets are killed quickly you lose at least half your damage output for a minute. And continue to do so until they’re not getting killed.
Eh… no thanks.
The armor/weapons sold by the merchants does not have a special skin. It is a stat combo only.
I hope you understand how increadibly disappointing that is for everyone. There was a lot of hype at the idea that there might actually be new skins after all this time, since we’ve gotten tons of new weapon skins but absolutely zero new armor skins and armor is what people really want.
It’s really not ANet’s fault that people swarm whenever there’s new content, and unfortunately there really isn’t anything they can do about it. Once things settle down this may relatively subside. Though it’s hard to say since this is effectively a Dragon that shows up randomly and drops two rare or better things every time.
ironicly that is how they got around my email and hacked me. It works yes but the issue is if they disable all verification to get into your account you are still defenseless. The idea of the code is that you only can get it if you have a way to verify yourself other than account name and password.
So, you’re saying that this hacker had your e-mail address, password AND a way to authenticate their connection using your randomly generated 6-digit code?
How could they disable all the verification on your account if you were using the two-factor authentication? Were you using it only on the game and not also using it on the e-mail account attached to the game?
I’ve gotten e-mails from ArenaNet stating that attempts were made to access my account without authorization before, but no one has ever made it past the second layer of protection. It’s just very confusing to me. Two-Factor Authentication works if you use it properly.
Um, they send the code to your email. Therefore if they have your email, they have your code.
THX guys. Oh, don’t pets count, like they set off mines? And why cant we permanently stow pets? Sick of that.
Pets count, stow them until you get to his room then sick them on him once he gets close to you. While they’re attacking him they won’t be setting off mines because he shouldn’t be passing through any mines that aren’t green.
It may still take a couple runs, but it’s not hard. It only takes three or four explosions to finish him.
Things that are green are safe to you and your allies, but hurt anyone else.
Friendly effects are white circles. I can’t really think of much else in the game where green is symbolic of not just friendliness, but exclusive friendliness to you while being dangerous to enemies. Can you name what you’re thinking of? Green is also the color of hostile mobs that are lower level than you. So at any rate it’s not consistent.
The only reason this wouldn’t be confusing is if you happen to share the same school of thought as the designer, or you read other sources before actually trying to figure things out for yourself. I gave it a couple tries and then looked it up on the wiki because kitten it. Of course the mechanic is actually simple enough (and the whole instance is easy IMO) once you understand what has to be done, but the instructions given by the game did not help with getting there. This felt a lot like playing a console game that was badly translated from Japanese, but this isn’t SAB so I don’t get the joke.
I wasn’t talking about traps in that line. Which is why I had a separate line specifically for traps. The line about red and green was in reference to NPCs, but it’s still a universal truth of the mechanic. Red means enemy, green means allie. It’s not difficult, and anyone running around in Southsun should be well aware of it.
All you had to do was use your eyes and your brain, and actually listen to provided NPCs. I talked to Keil, she said specifically that Canach was too strong to actually hurt, but that I might be able to use his traps against him. I then used the device on the first trap I saw because I didn’t want to blow up and wouldn’t you know it, it didn’t disappear, it turned green. I then kept using the device until I got to Canach. I tried to hurt him, and wouldn’t you know she was right I couldn’t hurt him, so I dragged him toward a mine I’d flipped and again wouldn’t you know she was right, it hurt him.

you do know that things like that are super annoying, i have this in both scarlet blade and vindictus and it frustrates me to no end.
the biggest problem with this system is that the numbers always randomize after each number and you need the mouse to select the numbers, i am big on securities but when the keyboard is out of the picture it a no go from point one.i am still angry about the password blacklisting, don’t make it even harder to get in the game fore the ones who do own the account.
That is why I support being able to define a computer as linked. Then you only have to enter the extra code once, say this computer is good, and you don’t have to do it again.
It sounds like it’s just a second password. I prefer a linked key generator. Usually it’s on your phone, then rather than being a code that you create it is generated for you and and you input it. This also bypasses the hacked email issue because it never goes to your email.
Of course this is also why you should have different passwords for GW2 and your email, and most other things, for that matter.
People are using guardians and elems as healers. Anet, please give up on this ‘no holy trinity’ nonsense and give us a good healer, like a monk. Let them level thru crafting if necessary.
I use my Necro as a healer, I dump regen all over the battle field. My friend uses his Ranger. I don’t understand why we need a main healer when there are so many classes that can already fill the support role. My Ranger doesn’t need a healer because he regens like mad.
Well, since you can’t actually be certain this is a “hack” and not simply someone taking advantage of game mechanics you don’t understand or know about, that seems like a tag that would be excessively abused, and ultimately would yeild little reliable fruit.
Like seeing someone fly up in the air over walls ? Jumping gaps of 1000 mile long ? Well…I know when i see a hacker, and we Should have a proper reporting option.Exploiter, botter doesn,t cut it when someone is acting like superman in EB.
No, I’m sure that’s exactly what’s going on, and that you’re completely qualified to make that judgement… but not really.
We had to kick a ranger from the null instance today, we just couldn’t do it with his pet there constantly holding aggro. Once we kicked him we managed to 4 man it on the first try.
We felt bad, but we could struggle for 20 minutes with a ranger in the group or do it in 5 minutes without him.
rangers are just a huge disadvantage for this instance.
Rather than kicking the guy (after all, not his fault the pet was being a kitten), did you consider asking him to move out of aggro? Then you could have completed the task without him, and he still gets the achievement?
Or better, told him to move his pet, since he does actually have control of the thing.
More than this, it’s a Trap. Everyone knows how traps work in GW2. If it’s an enemy trap it hurts you and not your enemies, if it’s a friendly trap it hurts your enemies and not you nor your allies. Then game mechanics. Things that are red hurt you but not their allies. Things that are green are safe to you and your allies, but hurt anyone else.
It’s intuitive as long as you follow it with knowledge of how to play the game and not unrelated real world information.
It also doesn’t make any sense. The point of those rings is not to show the quality of an NPCs play ability, but to let you know how much HP they have and how hard they’re probably going to hit you. Players are all, always, at effectively the same level. Therefore those rings mean absolutely nothing.
If you want to show that you’ve acheived something, display a title.
Well, since you can’t actually be certain this is a “hack” and not simply someone taking advantage of game mechanics you don’t understand or know about, that seems like a tag that would be excessively abused, and ultimately would yeild little reliable fruit.
This has been mentioned many times before, and will continue to be suggested until they finally do it. I will continue to +1 these suggestions also, because this is a really obvious change and it wouldn’t even be that hard. They just recently altered the Hero Panel UI with the changes to how stats are displayed. Then they did it again when they added Magic Find to that list. There is room under the Aquatic gear, it doesn’t even necessarily have to be full sized. Just a spot that you can plop a mini, and once plopped it automatically activates. I would go so far as it give it an on/off check box, so it’s possible to turn off your mini should you desire, without having to unequip it.
They may also become available at the Settler merchant after all 4 settlements on Southsun are held though, so just keep that possibility in mind if you’re buying to invest!
Of course the ones you buy there for Karka Shells, or whatever, will probably not be tradable, so the “investment” might still be worthwhile.
I don’t understand what any of you are talking about. I just sick my pet on Canach right at the start at which point it’s out of the fight. It can’t trigger a trap because it’s not running around.
For Null I just let it do whatever. If Null agroed on it I would F3 it to me until it was passing over a green trap. Then F1 to stop Null there. It doesn’t matter if it sets off the trap during Null because you can still swap it to green and now Null is effectively trapped on a trap for the rest of the fight, giving you plenty of time to beat him up.
These fights are rediculously easy, you just need to actually understand what the mobs are doing, and how to control your pets.
You want to farm teir 6 mats. Do your dailies and monthlies. We’re not talking 5-10 a day, but that’s possibly the most asinine suggestion I’ve ever seen.
Anyway, you get 3 teir 6 mats for 1 laurel. I’ve been farming them since laurels came out and I missed some days and a month, but I just completed my ascended quiver, so I figure that’s good enough. Probably not for you, but whatever, they want it to be hard for you, that’s why it is.
That aside, I’m not against level 80 zone chests having teir 6 mats, but they would have to have 1 at best. Especially if it was a guaranteed drop.
First we have to get an axe before the pick can even be looked at for a return. But it’s probable that some time in the far future they will make something like that again.
I haven’t seen a necro in a dungeon party since forever, which is really sad! I want to play one, but I’m greatly discouraged by the fact that they’re not a class that is being picked up.
As a Necro player, I couldn’t agree more! Minions are completely useless in dungeons, end-game PvE and WvW because of their horrendous AI- they just stand around watching you attack stuff until the fight is almost over and you have no “ATTACK!” command for them at all like Rangers do on their F1 key, then they finally wake up and attack; they refuse to follow you if you jump even the TEENIEST gap or elevation change up or down, instead mindlessly pathing the long way around via the North Pole and bringing back 379 mobs that they pathed through while wandering about the countryside finding smooth, gap-free ramps; the Flesh Golem in particular goes charging off to attack random out-of-sight inanimate objects such as gates, cannons, trebs, etc. just because one of your wells or AoE’s may have inadvertently clipped them and, unlike Rangers, Necros have NO way to recall them or stop them from mindlessly attacking anything; and like Ranger pets, our minions stupidly path 20 feet AHEAD of us, aggroing things we didn’t want to aggro… and we have NO “come here, stay by me, be passive” control over them at all like Rangers do on their F3 key… so we switch to Conditionmancer or Powermancer (sadly abandoning a core Necro gameplay mechanic that should have been fun- minions) and quickly learn that neither of these builds is as robust and viable as other professions’ builds in terms of damage and survivability.
I personally know TWO players who have leveled Necros to 80 and then deleted them to roll new professions because of these issues. Hopefully, revisiting Necro balance vs. other professions as well as the whole Pet AI and lack of control for Rangers as well as Necros is in the works.
So yes, Necros can’t control their pets, but the only part of that control problem that is actually a problem is getting them to attack what you want them to attack, or not attack what you don’t want them to attack. They don’t agro things, anymore, unless you agroed them first. It was supposed to be on Ranger and Necro pets, and I know it’s the case for Ranger, so it should be the case for Necro too.
My Necro doesn’t summon, though, so I can’t actually confirm it.
I am absolutely amazed how much hate a five minute long mini mission that took very little effort to accomplish is getting. Are people seriously this against a tiny deviation from the norm?
I want to see more of this, both Canach AND Null. Having to use unique tactics entirely separate from how your character normally works for a short event is not actually a bad thing. If this was a full sized mission or dungeon, it could be problematic, but one fight? This was fun, and since you only have to do it once, what’s the problem?

I definately like the new animation, it’s very fitting. I would still like the water effect to occur sooner, though, since that was the actual reason for this thread.
Based on the quazi-lore of Guild Wars, earth will float in the presence of water and a strong magical field. The phenomanon explains every instance of random floating rocks throughout the world, possibly including the ones the Asura specifically put there.
It is entirely possible that all the different species of Rider have developed a way to take advantage of this truth to allow themselves to levitate.
I would like to assume it is just a matter of a number being off, because it used to work right while the animation was wrong, but since changing the animation the timing went off.
Initial fail here is to ever say “I think it would be really simple programming.” Nothing, no matter how simple, is ever really simple programming. It just isn’t.
That aside, it would be cool to be able to save a couple “looks” for a variety of things, colors included.
Ok… I’m not saying to change it at all…
I want an OPTION to have two shoulder pads instead of one. I’m not saying to change them, i’m not saying to make it mandatory I just want to play my way.
You can play your way, i’m asking for a way to play my way.
I just don’t see a reason why your against it, will seeing my character with two shoulder pads offend you?
You already have that option many times over. They’re just different shoulderpads.
What offends me is when someone who doesn’t like something then feels it needs to be changed so they do like it, rather than just avoiding the thing they don’t like and choosing the many options available to them that they may like more.
They don’t need to be changed. You don’t like them. Good for you, some people do. It’s a waste of time to accomodate this petty desire when the artists could be doing much more interesting things for the community as a whole.

When did I say I didn’t see those animations? Did you even read my post?
-snip- Canach instead of telegraphing boss mechanics clearly with animations, sounds, or voice lines, -snip-
That would be where. Right at the beginning of the OP. You say Instead. You then say animations. This means you are saying that these extremely obvious animations intended to telegraph an action don’t exist. If you think they don’t exist you must not have noticed them. Don’t know how you missed it, cause it’s extremely obvious, but there is your answer.
I don’t understand what anyone is talking about with this chat box nonsense. Canach is increadibly easy to deal with and telegraphs his movements rediculously. I never even noticed anything in chat, therefore it was completely superfluous. If it was done for the deaf community, good on ANet. If it wasn’t, whatever.
There is only one move that makes any difference, then he crouches down and holds his arm back he is about to blow up the mines. At no other point during the thing does it make even the slightest difference, just run away from him and switch mines from red to green the kite him through them until he loses. Done. Quit complaining about things that don’t actually have an effect on the game.
Keil tells you specifically how to beat him right at the beginning of the instance.
I think the fix that changed the animation from mining to harvesting broke the spring effect, minorly. Originally when you started gathering, like with the molten pick, the spring would errupt immediately. Now the spring doesn’t show up until a second or two after you’ve finished harvesting.
It would also be nice if the the effect was slightly larger.
How can it stay? It will be around for a while, but eventually the deal with Canach’s rampaging critters will clear up, at which point the camps won’t need to be saved. It’s possible that they will put in something else at that point, though, to continue it all, who knows.
Weird…
tries a few more experiments
Whoah.. I think, somehow, my computer has borked its ability to play Youtube entirely. WTF?
Have you tried rebooting? It may also involve a plug in that is interfering with YouTube. Possibly update java?
I 100% support the solidarity of asymetric armor. If you want a shoulder pad on both sides, pick a different option.
My Leather Shoulders being only on that side is specifically why I wear it.
I actually like this, far more than Orpheal’s idea that’s for sure. This idea expands on what is given to us, but isn’t a progression of the character, it’s a customization of the character.
In Orpheal’s idea you have to subclass to be worthwhile because you only gain advantages. So you have to choose to me something more than what you are in order to get the benefits.
In Aeri’s idea, though, you gain benefits and drawbacks. I would consider the Archer subclass that he described, but it would detract from my Greatsword, and lower my toughness, both things I’m specced for. But I’m more specced for longbow so that would benefit. It’s a choice in customization, what am I willing to give up to gain in another area. I could choose not to subclass at all and just be a Ranger, which would also be acceptable. I would retain universal capacity which my build, I wouldn’t gain any new benefits with any part of my build, but I wouldn’t lose anything either.
The one thing the Trait system doesn’t have is draw backs. When I take traits to buff my longbow, I don’t lose anything in swords and pets. This is something else, which could be cool.
While the animation have been fixed the effect is now broken, at least I feel it is.
Whe you use the pick the ground immediately begins erupting with lava. The sickle used to do that too. Now, though, the water doesn’t burst forth until a second or so after you’ve finished and are moving on. It should happen as you kneel down.
Dude, you have nothing. No one agrees with you, just let it go. It’s not fair because Agony is a special circumstance. Deal with it. The whole point is that you’re supposed to be picking bonus OR Agony resistance. Do you want an item useful for high level fractals, or something useful in the world outside fractals. WvW IS the world outside and as such it’s their benefit to not have to make the choice.
I completely support the opening of all instanced locations within all the cities as uninstanced. There is no reason for them to be instance only when the instance is only used a couple times for personal story stuff. Let us go in any time we want. I’m certain all of the instanced locations exist as actual physical locations in the world at large, just open the doors to them and let us do as we please with them. If there is something specific that is supposed to happen there for a story, then place a marker in front of it, like you do, and have us instance for that. Otherwise let us just interact with it in the world.

I wanted very much to be against anything presented here for a variety of reasons. I, however, cannot. This does not promote anything that I could concider bad or backwards toward what GW2 currently is and should remain. This really is a good interpretation and would make a lot of things more worthwhile. It might even make my longbow, which is my prefered weapon, not seem so completely less useful than my greatsword.
That may be so, but the /em range is even larger. How does that even make sense?
It sounds like they flubbed the release a little. I’ll still buy it, and they’ll probably throw in a patch to give it the right appearance and sound. I haven’t bought it yet, so I don’t know about the effect, but I feel a small effect is reasonable since you only get one thing out of harvest nodes and they’re usually not very large.
