I love that this thread devolved into a “lets have Rangers without pets,” thread when the purpose of this suggestion was to get a new class on top of the ones we have that could serve that purpose. It may be silly to hope for, but at least the OP is already accepting that Rangers won’t lost their pets.
Then they couldn’t be called “Dailies.”
Sorry don’t see this happening… As it is most folks can get their dailies done in up to 2 hours. usually less
2 hours? Yeesh, you have to be in a really bad zone for it and be just bumbling along to take that long
It’s so incredibly frustrating that my new job means I basically only get to play around 7-8:30PM (Eastern Standard Time) and I don’t get to play every day.
This means I am practically UNABLE to ever get a daily achievement. It is so incredibly frustrating to get to 75-80% of my daily completion every single time I try.
It’s actually kitten near infuriating! The moment 8PM hits, I’m so annoyed, I just quit GW2.
Why can my daily achievements just roll over until I have time to finally complete one, and then just make it limited to maximum once per day?
I hate comparing to other games, but that’s how so many other games do it, and it just makes more sense to me. There’s a large chunk of the game that will take me 10x longer to participate in because I got a new job that’s inconvenient to the Arena Net gaming schedule for daily resets.
This has been frustrating me for weeks, and I finally decided to make a forum post after not finding anything (but maybe I’m just bad at searching)
Please, Anet, I beg you to make this change.
So, you have and hour and a half to do your daily? Half an hour after the refresh to get it started and then an entire hour before the next? I just did it in half an hour by doing the four events at the end of Hirathi Hinterlands. Thoise four evens are often enough to get most of the dailies. There’s group events, lots of mobs, lot of veterans, champions, you get a ton of salvage items. Condition dropping and adding just has to do with your class. I finished off with variety just by making a quick run around the zone, 13 is rediculously easy, there are three or four just in the events. The events happen so often that you’re almost guaranteed to run into them in that short time, possibly a couple times. The only ones you can’t do, obviously are the ones connected to non-Krytan zones.
Two things. You have more than enough time to do the dailies in your limited play time. If you only have an hour and a half to play, you have no need for what you get from dailies.
That is a lot of bubbles… and other stuff.
I played a lot, got 100 bubbles saved up for the next release, found two skins and sold them recently for a good haul. Now with the realization that the skins currently available may not become available again I feel the need to start playing again. The price I sold, while good, isn’t even half of what it looks like they will soon be going for and I want to get in on that.
I think that being special is an inherent quality to the item and has nothing to do with it being limited.
I like to pretend that I’m a purist like this. But then I think about my Dinotopia book and Virgin Black poster that are signed by the artists. The signature adds nothing significant aesthetically to the items, but I value them more as a result. I also have my original Jetfire Transformer from when I was a kid, and the fact that they aren’t made any more does seem to imbue that hunk of metal (back then they used METAL in toys!) and plastic with more value. People will pay more for an old broken down ‘67 Mustang than than a new car. I think that ’being special’ is indeed an inherent quality, but that PART of the inherent quality is its context in the world. A ’67 Mustang is inherently more valuable because it is scarce, like my Transformer and Virgin Black poster.
Or perhaps we’re looking at it the wrong way. Maybe the premise that ‘inherent value’ is a tenable concept is wrong. After all, value is a human-derived concept. ‘Things’ are just different combinations of chemicals after all. Nothing HAS value in and of itself. So if we can agree that value is composed of -and for- humans, and only perceived by them, than the full gamut of human psychology must inform that valuation. And having something that others do not is, like it or not, an unavoidable component of human psychology. It may be a part that the more self-examining among us tend to loathe, and would like to grow out of. But it’s there none-the-less. The impulse to escape it is perhaps the impulse behind asceticism? I don’t know. It’s interesting to ponder.
It is also a desire for uniqueness. The more limited a thing is the more unique it is, the more unique it is the more unique those who own it are by extention. If you are unique you are, by definition, special. This is why I run around in a beetleton coat with the precise shoulder you get as a story reward, and with a wolfborn long bow. At level 80 these are extremely rare, none moreso than the shoulderpad though since it is fully inaccessible through anything other than a very early person story reward. Through this I set myself apart from the world.
Haters gonna hate, no but seriously no content appeals to everybody. I for one dislike PvP. I can tolerate WvW but all of the sPvP content, including the games like costume brawl, the norn game and the snowball fights I can’t stand. I find them to be garbage and am annoyed that my inability to play them will forever lock me out of many acheivement points.
At the same time I certainly don’t begrudge ANet making them, and continuing to make new ones because I know for a fact that very many people enjoy them, and even enjoy only them.
I love SAB. I’ve had my fill of it and haven’t played in a while, though I may start making runs again trying to get more skins on the chance that once they’re done they’ll be gone forever, but I do still like it and look forward to the next installments.
In what sort of content is the AI always awful? I’m looking for some sort of specificity since I have no problems with pets in the open world.
Have you tried a bow warrior?
A few days ago I was at fire ele, and noticed my pet was taking damage so I brought him back.
I then moved to the left to avoid a red circle, and my pet walked right in to it, and got sent flying and bounced right into a red circle on my right and died. :P It was kind of funny to watch, but in the back of my head I was thinking, “well, there goes some of my dps”. I couldn’t switch because there was 4sec left on the timer.
I can keep the pet up for a little at melandru, but eventually he gets taken out by one of those big aoe spike attacks, or charges.
At Grenth he dies in the ocean of red circles, or if I decide to fight shades instead he can’t damage them.
See, this is relevant, while also being hard to address. Basically NPCs, which pets are, can’t see the red circles. They aren’t able to react to them. The options available are to allow them to react, which would be potentially very bad for everyone that uses heavy AoEs, but would be easier to implement, or somehow separate pet AI such that they can react to AoEs while the other NPCs can’t. This would definately be the ideal situation but almost certainly significantly more difficult.
Personally I would give up my F2 ability (just put it into their general rotation, while also making all porcine abilities actually useful) if I could use F2 for Pet dodge. That would probably be the easiest and most accepted solution.
Yeah problems are, warriors can use longbows, thieves can use shortbows, no other class can use both types of bow.
I can’t stand the stupid pets either, I wanted to play a Ranger, not a Beastmaster.
But no, we have to have what ArenaNet see as a Ranger, forced to use the mainly useless pet, a pet that is a total liability, a pet that they will never be able to fix.
Under what circumstances is the pet a liability?
Dungeons for a start.
Plus it runs all over the place agroing other mobs nearby.
It can’t even jump down 6 inches, it has to go all the way around, however far that might be.
I’ve done the dungeons and I’ve never had a problem with my pet. It sounds to me like you’re doing the dungeon in a way it wasn’t intended, or something, or you don’t know how to stow it when absolutely necessary.
The only time in the entirety of the game in which my pet has been a liability was in the Rata Sum Fractal during the escalator of doom. If your pet gets hit you get hit, which is dumb. But again, stow the pet, make the run, done.
Pets die to bosses a lot, but that’s not a liability, that’s just an annoyance.
Pets are part of what a ranger is. Anyone who disagrees is trying to play something other than a ranger.
Why would anyone ever want to use both bows? I’ve never actually seen someone who runs Longbow/Shortbow. Generally it’s a preference one way or the other and a melee weapon or axe for the swap. Honestly short bows aren’t very rangery anyway.
BIG parts of that I don’t agree with………..
I’ve only ever played a Ranger, I think I know how to “stow” my pet, anyway stub your toe, fall over a twig, or get hit, up pops the pet.
I’ve played other classes, but my first class, first to 80 and all around main is a Ranger, so I’ll say we’re on even footing. If you’re taking damage while your pet is stowed then it’s hardly your pet’s fault, and since the entire point of that post was to express a lack of pets being a liability that’s very relevant.
I’m not a particular fan of dungeons anyway, at least not with a pet, I’m “sure” you’ve had every success with your pet in dungeons, but I can’t comment as I have only done the story mode ones. (So your theory “I’m doing them in a way that wasn’t intended” does’nt really hold water, explain a way that wasn’t intended anyway ?).
If you are moving in such a way as to cause your pet to run a weird direction and agro huge groups of mobs that seems to mean you went somewhere you weren’t intended to go based on the level design. The only place I can think of where this is a thing is in Sorrow’s Embrace, in which the strategy is, stow your pets so they don’t ago all the moles. So again, stow your pet.
A pet is not part of the Ranger, your thinking of a Beastmaster, sorry to burst your bubble, anyway IF there were a choice to play with or without a pet as in GW1, wouldn’t everybody be happy ?
Sorry, you’re just straight up wrong. Ranger is a guy with a bow and an animal companion. They are intrinsic qualities of the whole. It only worked in GW1 because class design in general was hugely different anyway. But no proper ranger is without his trusty animal companion. If all you want is a guy with a bow and inferior armor you’re looking for a rogue more than a ranger. In this game it’s a Thief. If they give thieves longbow (which they probably never will) then I’m sure you’ll be happy. Until then you’re stuck because Rangers will always have pets.

Then you qoute two games that have race changes.
World of Warcraft and Tera, Tera is a Clone copy of WoW almost to a “T”
World of Warcraft even though they have 11 million Subscripers only have 730k Congurnt player base which is 100k lower than there release numbers. So WOrld of warcraft not a great example unless yoru a fan boy. That and this is not world of warcraft, or tera, it is Guild Wars 2.
No no, don’t complain about that. I asked him to name the “many” games that allow race change. He was just trying to do what I said in order to make a point and failed utterly since he was only able to come up with two, rather than the five necessary to qualify for many.
How does it disrupt the game?
And btw gw2’s whole philosophy is play your way.
One of my favorite things is when someone tries to use this argument to mean that they should be able to do whatever silly thing they want because they want.
That’s not what “Play your way” mean and it never has. Play your way means, “If you want to level up through crafting, do that. If you only want to PvP, you’re golden. If realm battling is your thing, you never have to play in the world. Just want to do dungeons? Well you may have to cut your teeth on the game at large, but eventually this might work out for you.” Play the game in the style that suits your fancy.
The reason it is disruptive is because the Devs want your choices to make some amount of difference. They want your race and your class to define you. That stops being a factor if you can change either on a whim. Therefore it’s disruptive.
I have absolutely no basis to support this statement, but I believe that something has been said to the point of this becoming a thing, I just wish it would happen sooner than it apparently is.
As long as I can turn off dueling requests so I never see them, and there’s no dueling in major cities then I’m on board.
Fooye to this. What exactly is the point of disabling dueling in major cities? So you don’t have to see someone randomly setting off powers? I hate to break it to you, but that can happen anyway since you don’t actually need a target to set off a power. And if that’s not disruptive enough to the world at large there is your standard costume brawling which is noisy and obnocious in the extreme.
What is a little Player on Player combat inside the local tavern in the face of that?
(edited by Kal Spiro.9745)
How is me changing my characters race disruptive to your gaming?
I didn’t realize it was my game… I wish I was getting royalties or something. I believe I said THE game. THE game would translate to, “How the Devs want you to play the game THEY made.”
But what about the choices prior to that point in the Personal Story if your character hasn’t hit the Order missions or the Pact missions? Since in the pre-Order missions, those options do affect things in the Personal Story to some degree?
And if it wipes the personal story, what about rewards? If you get rewards again, you’d have to bump up the cost to do it as to prevent farming of the PS by constant race changes by the level 80 farmers. And do you really want it to be so super expensive that you’d either have to pay for it with real money or spend ages earning the gold to do so? Would you, as a level 57 character who had done all of the Personal Story you could do given your skill, armor, and weapons want to repeat the entire PS again and only get the items that drop when they generally aren’t that valuable?
As to cultural armor, how would you set the transfer up?
This question from me and the question that Kal asked about naming 5 MMO’s that allow for race changes. Answer THOSE questions.
Isn’t that a singular question?
Two come to mind just off the top of my head.
1. WoW
2. TERA
So not actually that many, then? I don’t actually know much of anything about Tera, so I’ll assume it’s not very disruptive for the game since it’s new and has it. WoW did not have this for a very long time because it made not sense and was potentially extremely disruptive. They only added it “recently” because they’re aging and they need any lifeline they can manage to keep going.
Fortunately GW2 isn’t in that situation. It’s new, but it was designed with racial choice being an important and relevant dicision. Changing race would not make sense and be disruptive to the game. The game is not in such drastic need that they will throw any old line out in hopes it will snag.
I do have to say it’s gratifying that you either have taken notice of me, or else actually went to the trouble of researching me before dismissing me. I’m set in my ways and think that the younger generations of gamers are all snots who need to be smacked more in their life because they’re handed far too much on a platter. I use the word deserve because you’re not making a suggestion nor a request, your design for your title indicates this is a demand. You are making a stand to continue coming back again and again until you are acquiessed to. The same people coming repeatedly to make the same argument and agree with eachother does not a movement make. You don’t become many just because you speak up a lot. Even if you are many that doesn’t mean you ought to be appeased. How many Mount threads have been trashed? Mounts will never be a thing because they’re stupid in this game, but people will never stop asking for them. How are you different?
Too bad, you don’t deserve it, you never did, and no matter how many times you make the same request you never will.
This is laughable at best. Assuming what a person does/doesn’t deserve, especially when I’ve leveled and geared 7 toons to 80 is pretty asinine.
And much better thread title. And I was never going to cry about it. I just really really hate deception and your attitude will also turn people off, by the way.
If anything my attitude is far better then purists like Kal. Many mmo’s have race changes, why shouldn’t GW2? It will also help provide a solid injection of money to Anet, and what company doesn’t want to boost sales?
Name 5.
Anything less than five and I can’t accept the qualifier of many.
I find it amusing that leveling and gearing characters is your definition of what you need to do to deserve something that doesn’t make any sense. Moreso I find it worse that someone who has leveled so many characters feeling the need to do this.
I find it insulting that you think that just because this stuff doesn’t matter to you you should be allowed to do whatever you like. How is that for purity?
Yeah problems are, warriors can use longbows, thieves can use shortbows, no other class can use both types of bow.
I can’t stand the stupid pets either, I wanted to play a Ranger, not a Beastmaster.

I’ll make it simple. No. It is a bad suggestion for a pointless desire of people who are lazy. I don’t even care if there were no problems, it still shouldn’t be allowed. It takes no time to level up a character. It takes very little effort to do everything to make your character what you want it to be. It takes even less time to realize if you do or do not like a specific race.
Make a new character. Transfer what you can, sell what you can’t. If you spent gold, or even cash on things that are now nontransferable for a character you apparently don’t even like? That was your own stupidity and something you should be held accountable for, not something anyone should give you a pass for.
Too bad, you don’t deserve it, you never did, and no matter how many times you make the same request you never will.
If we had no reason to complain we wouldn’t.
how can it be balanced when he just lost a PvP match?
How cynical of you. Could it be that the people complaining do not have a skill issue as you so brutishly thrust into the argument, that they simply see a problem with the profession that they believe needs fixing?
No, you’re right. Let us return to the era of zero communication with the devs where we buy gems and gleefully accept the mediocrity we’re offered and lick Anet’s boots, as in the case of the OP.
Um, he’s right though. It doesn’t matter how good or well designed something is, someone will complain about something. Most of the complaints made on the forums are groundless and stupid. Most of the complaints have no basis in reality and consist of someone who is personally incapable of doing a thing demanding that everything be turned on its head so that they can do it.
This, and the replied to post, however, were only written to dispute that one point. There is no such thing as a lack of complaints. Neither of these posts, I believe, were granting any credance to the OP ludicrous concept of removing the forums. The Forums need to exist. People need an outlet for their complaints, groundless or not, and this is the best place for them.
Um… you don’t HAVE to do anything of the sort. If you intend on being a fashionista then I guess you will keep a lot of extra junk. In any case transmutation is a gold sink, it’s supposed to destroy something, otherwise it’s not working properly.
If you like the stats and the appearance on the thing, though, why are you transmuting it. The whole point of transmutation is that you have two things but you only like one of the things on each, then you combine them to get the whole you wanted.
Greatsword price just jumped from 39 gold to 64 in a day O_0
I lucked out and got one in a chest a while back. At the time it was going for about 33g, but I decided to hang onto it until after April to sell. Seems like the right decision.
I wonder if someone bought out all the lower selling greatswords to sell after April.
Edit: Actually it looks like all the skins spiked, so maybe one person or a few people did this across them all. Or maybe people who don’t run the SAB are trying to get a skin before the price spikes even more.
Sounds good to me, I just put in my Sword and Greatsword around 25 and 65 respectively, hopefully I reach those marks, they’re not too far off.
I just adore how positive comments get anets devs to reply.
Yeah no, this is a unique subforum because Josh trolls it like no other Dev.
Not even the rune of the pirate summons parrots. It summons a tropic bird, and since there is only one tropical bird in GW2 it is more akin to a toucan than a parrot. Again, since there is only one tropical bird in GW2 if they added this you would still not get a proper parrot. I am not against the tropical bird being added to the Ranger repertoire, though, it would only be the one bird added alongside the other birds, not a whole new bird group.
Would the numbers be those depicted by the specific items, or would they be the numbers based on the level and quality of the resulting item? Such that if I transmuted a level 60 Masterwork item that’s Power Precision and Condition Damage with a level 80 Exotic that’s Power Healing Power and Toughness and I take Precision Condition Damage and Healing Power the result is that the Condition Damage and Precision is now the level 80 Exotic value rather than the Level 60 Masterwork value.
max bauble count should never exceed 999 as that was the max in retro games. Pretty easy to remember max count when it’s that low. The actual programming number for max on that is 1024, then minus 25 so it’s like why 250 instead of 255 e.t.c. No need for any fix to indicate bauble wallet size that way. Which is why there was never any indication of that in retro games, no need.
But that would mean that at best you can only boost wallet size again in World 2 and 3, but not 4
That will teach them to get smartphones. I’m completely ok with that.
I also tend to suspect that’s not true, but it also depends on what you do, I suppose. But if you have access to a web browser then no one is likely to notice you doing things on your phone.
not sure what comparison you are talking about
When you mouse over an weapon or armor you can use it gives you the stats of that item and what ever you have equiped at that moment. He wants it to do that while salvaging too, which I thought it did, but I supposed I’ve not paid much attention because I only salvage 70+ yellows and oranges if they’re not worth a lot on the BLTC. And in any case I check everything against my gear before I start salvaging or selling anyway.
Just give us a mobile app version of the BLTP, then we can trade to our hearts content, as well as purchasing gems and buying stuff there.
As is always mentioned in every one of these thread about this same topic. You don’t need to do them. You get a benefit if you do, but the benefit is only benefitial for those that play significantly.
The only thing you NEED Laurels for, and you don’t necessarily actually “need” them even for this, is some Ascended items. The only thing you need Ascended items for is very high level fractals. There isn’t a single other aspect of this game where Ascended items are in any way required for play.
More so, if you’re doing those fractals already you don’t actually need Laurels because you can get the items you need by doing the Fractals.
Therefore there is absolutely nothing you actually need Laurels for and therefore no reason to feel you are required to do Dailies. Dailies are only there for those of us with the time to play to maybe do in that time if we don’t have anything else we want to do.
For a while now Dailies has actually been the only thing I’ve been doing at all. I get on, bust them out, then log and do other stuff. I’m trying to grind Vicious Fangs for the Quiver and Laurels are the easiest way to do that.
By ultimate are you refering to Elite? If so then I agree on all accounts.
I would also like the option to select my primary healing power at character select, even if it’s only between two. Then I could have kept my Necro from ever having any summons at all.
I dropped $10 for the mining pick in an instant. I have never even glanced at items I would have to roll the dice for. I will buy a guarantee, not the possibility, of something cool.
Adjustable would be better, the ability to move the model around and zoom in and out.
My opinion is no, like everyone else, but because I am how I am I’m curious about the logistics.
How exactly would the third swap work. Currently swapping is one button. Back and forth, it works very nicely. But how would it work with a third? Would they only cycle in one direction? Would I have swap to the next one, then wait the swap delay before being able to swap to the original previous one if that’s the one I really wanted? Or will a second bind be introduced to swap backward, then I just have to remember which order my weapons are in so I don’t accidently swap the wrong way.
Would anyone be able to take advantage of this third swap, or only those who already have the ability to swap?
Would it include underwater weapons? Concidering no one has more than two options for underwater weapons…
ANet doesn’t do refunds for anything ever. Sorry.
Besides there are only three pets that can’t be gotten just by travelling.
On top of that, Rangers already have a special thing that only they can do in collecting pets in the first place. To also get a whole “mini game” all to themselves would be kind of lame.
Unless you’re talking about minipets which is even worse.
I would very much like engineer kit skins to be directly related to their backpack. Especially now that the kit replaces the backpack instead of being on top of it.
Basically if I’m using an invisible back item or none it would be the default skin. If I’m using the engineer unique skin it might be a little different. The wintersday backpack would make it more festive. The Halloween book would make it more mystical. The Fractal item would be more techy. My Charr backpack would make the kits plushy charr themed.
Stuff like that.
Yes, I belive making it display xxx/250 would clutter it up too much. Just changing the original color of the bauble too something else then Blue would make it easy to see, and not add any more clutter.
Then again, maybe this have been thought about and the decision was just to have it as is. Might be too luxurious to have an indication that one got a better wallet
Until we start expanding beyond 500, then we need to remember… oh wait, that’s easy too.
250 is blue, 500 is green, 750 is yellow, 1000 is red, 2000 is purple (just like bauble values and item quality.)
But GW2 is all third person…
Not sure I agree – thieves get dual daggers.. which is kind of the staple weapon for that type of class. Aside from a bow, dual swords just seems to make sense for Rangers.
I run thief, ranger, warrior (geared in that order) and I agree, dual dagger seems fitting for ranger. But for how thief mechanics work, I think dual swords for them before ranger is necessary. They are “nasty” fighters and considering how weak sword is atm for thieves it seems more important to me. Dont get me wrong, ranger needs better off-hand (and 1h main hand tbh) weapons.
This makes no sense. Rangers are sword fighters. Thieves are dagger fighters. It stands to reason and precedence.
Rangers live off the land and know how to use a dagger in the mainhand with deadly precision and use it for skinning animal hide.
Why woudlnt they be able to use dual daggers.
Even in Dungeons and Dragons because of the rangers traits they’re better off with dual weapons than a bow and arrow and a rogue is better off with a bow.
Seriously, if you’re going to bring up DnD you can’t not bring up the most famous ranger of DnD. I’ll give you a hint, has a pet panther and duel wields scimitars (those are swords by the way.) There is no classical, nor literary Rangers who favor daggers, but there are more than enough who duel wield swords.
Rangers = swords and bows, Thieves (rogues) = daggers and more daggers. That’s just how it goes down.
Oh okay no Literary rangers who favour daggers.
I guess Belkar Bitterleaf a Halfling Ranger from Order of the Stick is a figment of my imagination then.Halflings don’t count. Half-sized person wielding half-sized sword = person wielding sword.
True, in fact the series starts out with the swap to 3.5 where he gets annoyed because his weapons got smaller.
Ok… let’s see. The Asura just started work on SAB, also they don’t really favor mindless cruelty as a rule, so it wouldn’t be them. Norn aren’t smart enough. Sylvari are way to peaceloving and nice. Humans seem to be trying to promote a classic lets all get along kind of stance. That leaves the Charr, a race known for ingenuity and casual cruelty. I don’t think it would involve capturing Quaggan and selling them to Krait, and it probably wouldn’t be quite as immersive as SAB, but could see a clockwork shooting gallery with Quaggans as the primary targets.
Wow, that is not a Josh Foreman I expected. I was expecting more of a Daniel White or Trevor Howell, that is something.
Ah, I see, unlimited stack. Why should they redesign how stacks work and add a whole new category to an area that is not simple to check on the go, when they could more effectively just add a row to the currency section of the inventory, which is already “infinite capacity,” for dungeon tokens and fractal tokens and WvW tokens and all the currencies we already have that aren’t represented in our currency section.
Woo, and that was all one breath too.
Not sure I agree – thieves get dual daggers.. which is kind of the staple weapon for that type of class. Aside from a bow, dual swords just seems to make sense for Rangers.

There is no classical, nor literary Rangers who favor daggers, but there are more than enough who duel wield swords.
Rangers = swords and bows, Thieves (rogues) = daggers and more daggers. That’s just how it goes down.
well can you make these Bauble Stacks bigger? and Give us a slot in collectables for them then? because stocking up on all this crap to not even need it for months is a waste of space..
I don’t control that stuff. I’ll look into the collectible slot but I honestly have no idea how likely that is.
Collectibles is no better than inventory slots, since there is only even 1 stack in collectibles. Personally I’d say it’s fine the way it is. Currently no one can carry more than two bauble stacks at a time, and anyone who continues to carry bauble stacks after getting out of the game is just silly. They should be conversed to bubbles.
It’s totally meant as an “oh god I’m surrounded!” button, like Golden Ax and Final Fight… or was it Streets of Rage?… Anyway, yeah, it needs work. It’ll have a make-over for next release. I’ll look into knocking things off cliffs, as that is one of the most viscerally fun things to do in a game.
As much as that would be amazing, considering the amount of trickery that has been put into moving characters in the various stories and events from one area to another without them actually jumping, I’m going to say it is probably impossible. If not, then you need to let those other designers know they’re just silly and should rework how they set things up.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly and easily this community succumbs to trolls.
Seriously, if you have to sell it for 1cp in order to even have a chance of selling it, that means you can’t sell it anyway because no one wants it.
I completely fail to understand what this is in reference to. I only know of 8 asura gates.
The five in Lion’s Arch, they make a hand. Divinities Reach is the Thumb, Rata Sum is the Index finger, The Grove is the Middle finger, Black Citidel is the Ring finger and Hoelbrekt is the Little finger.
The three in Fort Trinity, I forget the order, but the order re kitten tanding in front of their portal.
What else do you need?
You forgot the one to Ebon Hawke, all the gates in Rata Sum, plus all the currently inactive ones in Lion’s Arch that will most likely be add in future updates/expansions.
It is not currently required no. Your point of seeing the name when standing in front of them completely ignores what I was suggesting. If you are playing with someone new that has not memorized the gates yet and you tell them to head through this gate to meet you how will they know what gate that is?
The first time I was in Rata Sum my friends and I spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to find the exit to get to the starter area. If Asura gates are labeled it increases the player experience.
If ANet adds more Asura Gates in the future wouldn’t it be nice to be able to pull up your map and easily see “Ok to go here I need to go through this Asura Gate, then this one.” Rather than “I see an Asura Gate there but I do not remember which one takes me there”
I appologize, you’re right.
Ebon Hawk to the top middle section of Divinity’s Reach.
Rata Sum:
Top, East side to Lion’s Arch, West to a mission
South West, Clockwise, Docks, Snaff’s Lab, Random extra area, Home.
South East, Clockwise, Metrica Province, Random extra area, Docks.
That better? Is it really so hard to just remember where things go? You can waypoint to them when you’re in Rata Sum anyway, it’s free. You don’t have to walk at all. How did it take 30 minutes. There are only 3 corners.
As for the future gates? They’re in the future, right now they don’t matter. But the answer will still be, “Go to Lion’s Arch. It’s the one with the relevant race standing in front of it.”

Personally, I would like to see the back of achievements altogether. Along with DRM and season/online passes, they have come to epitomise what is wrong with current-gen gaming. Achievements are little more than bragging rights or a means to control the player experience instead of allowing the player to freely explore and play the games themselves.

Rant is right.
Achievements are ways to encourage players to do certain things and to reward them for doing them. Some of those things are things they may want to do anyways, some aren’t. You don’t need to get the achievements, so if you do it that was on you, no one made you. IF you want to freely explore and play the game yourself, no one is stopping you, and you might get some achievements for doing that too.
They are exactly for bragging right. To say, check out what I did, and to compare experiences. How exactly is that a bad thing?

Lovely, another person unable to play the game the way it’s intended asking for an integral part of the world design to be altered to suit their lack.
