Stop being so logical. The forum is too busy crying that we didn’t side with the child going into brat mode.

I don’t know why I bother, but I’ll say it once again: The main complaint here was the lack of any option to have your own personality. The fact that people disagree on whether to side with Taimi is testament to why personality options are good.

You would expect this sort of “can’t do anything about it” character disagreement from a TV show or a book, not a video game.

No, the main complaint I see here looks to be more like “Why can’t I completely screw over the summit and kitten off the Asura rep who agreed to possibly come to the meeting. kitten thieving adults robbing from disabled children. CURSE THEM ALL!”

I can see possibly talking about granting more rights to Taimi over it, or at least making sure she’s involved in any tech problems about it… but I’m seeing people saying they’d rather completely lose the Asura race support instead of having Taimi give up a device.

Had a post, it got wiped.

Anyway, sympathy is based off Race, not order. Asura generally dislike Skritt, so it doesn’t make sense for their sympathy missions to focus on Skritt possibly.

HOWEVER, we see SEVERAL Asura who effectively use Skritt as helpers/assistants throughout the world.

Whitebear: Possibly enrage the norn, but likely cause some shattering and stronger sons of svanir. “He rejected Dragon, look what happened to him because he wasn’t powerful enough!”
Smodur: Depends on the one who replaces him, could be good for treaty or bad. But likely would cause the iron legion to brutally attack any Mordrem they see IMO.
Phlunt: He dies, nobody gives a kitten.
Jennah: She dies, Cauducus seizes the throne (Unless another heir appears and has backing, likely through that locket). If Cauducs keeps the throne, it’s implied he’d turn Kryta into a semi-isolantionist state. If another Heir takes it, they might rally the humans against Mordremoth.

So… I suppose in the end it could cause great anger and an alliance, or splinter them and cause division. Depends on who takes control afterwards.

And that explains why 70 years ago (Sea of Sorrows) Livia was openly being Livia, using necromancer powers, and not showing a SLIGHT sign of Mesmer magic?

Or why she’d magically decide to completely disguise herself, stop using necromancer magic ENTIRELY, and fully use mesmer abilities?

Even when the Queen’s life is in EXPLICIT danger her necromancer powers have been shown to be able to easily safeguard her?

That her disguise/keeping herself hidden from the public ans Livia is more important then the Queen’s life, even though Jennah could’ve easily made all present swear to silence about it.

I could buy the theories if the questions above had rational answers, or ANY answers.

I’ve seen none provided from those supporting the theories.

The Charr of today are different then the Charr of GW1. I don’t see how if the dragons get beat the Charr will INSTANTLY turn and go “WAS FUN GUYS, NOW WE KILL ALL OF YOU!”

Wrong. You are forgetting the fact that even after the time of the Flame Legion’s supremecy, the Charr was still at war with the humans until relatively recently when Queen Jennah finally managed to sign a cease-fire with them, which even in the last living story she called shaky at best.

And frankly, said war was as far as I’ve seen, treated as the lesser focus of the charr race, more like keeping the sieges going but doing NO OTHER EFFORT to actually wage a full war, like crossing the shiverpeaks and attacking kryta directly.

Hell, in Sea of Sorrow’s we had a charr ship taking Ascalon relics to Krta as gifts, and I remember reading about a charr character who mentions the Iron Legion WAS testing the possibility of peace/end of conflict before the new Krytan prince came to Ebonhawke to play army men and made the field run red with charr and human blood.

in Lore

Kalavier.1097

Is Kasmeer’s story suggesting that nobility in Kryta reflects your value to the Queen or your service to Kryta? Isn’t that insulting to all the commoners and street rats who serve Kryta every day? What makes Kasmeer special?

If noble status is that easy to accomplish, shouldn’t every human PC have ascended to noble status?

No, I’d say it’s a bit more complex then that.

You see, the way it sounds is as if you had a specific skill, and one Jennah PERSONALLY wanted to make use of, she’d invite you to her court and make you a noble.

Let’s say she wanted Kasmeer’s ability to detect lies, she could invite Kasmeer to the court and have her attend meetings alongside her to figure lies from truth among the ministry.

But at the same time, a skilled farmer isn’t going to have something she needs personally done. It doesn’t make Kasmeer a special snowflake, it means Jennah is granting her a pardon from what happened to her Father, OR wants to make personal use or Kasmeer’s abilities.

Changing professions is not as strange as you may think. Someone as underwhelming as Kieran Thackeray did it once. Livia/Salma are far superior to that poor excuse for a Ranger/Paragon.

It’s two completely different situations though you are talking about.

You are saying it’s just as easy to go from a monk or necromancer to a mesmer, as it is a ranger to a paragon.

Paragon, Ranger both have some magical abilities, but are most MARTIAL classes. Mesmer, Monk, and Necromancer are all spellcasters.

You’d have to relearn your entire method of spellcasting/type of spells. Also the fact Livia explicitly was shown in Sea of Sorrows, doing necro stuff.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/0/0b/Salma.jpg Salma’s final model.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/1/19/Countess_Anise.jpg Anise

I’m sorry, but I don’t see anything instantly similar besides them having red hair. Not even the same shade really, Salma is more of a brown-red, with light brown skin while Anise is very pale and with pure red hair.

It’s a miles closer comparison than to this, whom is Livia.

But as Tamias said, appearance isn’t the major point.

Again, I don’t see how Anise looks like Livia or Salma besides “Human, red hair.” :/

Countess Anise is clearly Livia.

I think this guy’s got it. The crack about Anise’s true age was the biggest hint, but also the fact that she has a habit of referring to everyone and everything as her “pet” makes her sound like a necromancer (like Livia is/was). She also wields a scepter – possibly the scepter of orr? I’m interested to see where this is going.

I didn’t necessarily embrace or dismiss this theory before, but this is a very good point. The fact is that Livia lived an extremely long time and Anise’s dialogue regarding her age and the constant use of “pet” is rather peculiar. Not to mention the fact that they both fulfill pretty much the same position within the Shining Blade.

Besides the fact Anise shows zero signs of using necromancer abilities, and Livia was openly using necromancer abilities as of Zhaitan rising, and NO sign of mesmer magic.

Why would Livia suddenly change her entire appearance (with illusion), AND stop using her SUPER powerful necromancer abilities while guarding the queen? That’s like an expert archer suddenly going “Nah, I wanna disguise myself!” and ditching his bow for a longsword despite the fact he can do far more damage with the bow. WHILE also trying to defend somebody else.

PS, Jennah was threatened by the Risen following the corrupted Seraph. I’ve been told in Sea of Sorrows Livia’s magikittenerally destroyed any Risen trying to get on her ship. Why would she not use that magic in that situation if Livia = Anise?

Seems to be, yeah. I’ve got a crude map somewhere of what the current territory of Ebonhawke seems to be – it encompasses a lot of the Fields of Ruin and has a spur going into Blazeridge.

A charr in field of ruin, near the brand mentions the treaty will give fields of ruin to ebonhawke.

That’s the most that is said.

I’m not ok with uniting with the Charr, but I guess we don’t get to choose.

This. As an Ascalonian human, its hard for me to stomach the dialogue options I have with the charr as if we are buddy/buddy.

As far as I’m concerned, they will be the next threat to Tyria after we have gotten rid of the Elder Dragons.

Even as a Charr-fan this is probably very true. They’re a militaristic nation of born and bred warriors, no way they’d just sit ideally around during peace times.

Exactly. ANET does a good job of spinning the Charr as just “retaking their homeland” but oh how quickly we forget the fact that they also went after Orr and Kryta which resulted in the sinking of Orr and Kryta would have been obliterated were it not for the Mursaat.

Oh how quickly we forget the fact that 250 years ago or more, the Charr were under a completely different type of leadership, and driven that far by Titan magic fueling their rampage.

Or how before the concept of a human being equal to them or even anything more then a slave was weird.

The Charr of today are different then the Charr of GW1. I don’t see how if the dragons get beat the Charr will INSTANTLY turn and go “WAS FUN GUYS, NOW WE KILL ALL OF YOU!”

A: Taimi keeps her device. Phlunt doesn’t attend the summit, the support of the Asura doesn’t get given and we lose that much help and aid.
B: Taimi loses her device, but Phlunt attends the summit and we have the chance to get the full Asura aid.

As I said in the other thread about this, various fighters leave the chamber when their Mordrem foes are killed. I’m guessing that Caithe was fighting around the Avatar of the Pale Tree, so that Caithe leaves when you kill the mordrem around the avatar. Of course this is bad story telling since I can’t imagine any Sylvari wanting to leave the Pale Tree in any danger, regardless of what’s happening to Jennah or any asura bigwig, so I’m guessing it just sets up the final solo battle.

Or the firstborne understand the Avatar of the pale tree is simply an avatar, a projection of the pale tree. Defending it with their life isn’t as important as defending the grove as a whole.

That’s a funny thing though, thinking on it. We hear Rurik tended to distance himself from the Ascalon nobility and such… but we hardly saw them. A few dukes in the army, but not much of the fancy dressed nobles IIRC.

Kasmeer likely lost the title when the family holdings were seized. Hence why Anise mentions telling the full story to Jennah, with hints Jennah might grant the title back to Kasmeer, and maybe even some holdings or possessions back (If they are still accessible.)

To all the people saying the Sylvari story would have to be redone and the Pale Tree can’t die because there can’t be more NPCs, I have to say, you’re not looking at the game properly. The Personal Story occurs in 1325 AE. We’re in year 1327 AE right now. So if the Pale Tree succumbs to her injuries (and since her roots were attacked I’m not hopeful for her survival), nothing needs to change for the Sylvari Personal Story, and more Sylvari PCs can be made. More Sylvari NPCs and characters can be pulled out as the story is needed, because there is already an undetermined number of Sylvari out there.

Besides the fact they’d be interacting with a dead person.

If they killed the Pale tree fully, I’d expect the grove to get a makeover to reflect that, with npcs talking about it.

Still, it’s enough to wound it, I don’t see any reason why they must kill the pale tree.

Taimi continues to be a living time bomb, but at least her mission revealed a bit more about what total kittens the Asura leadership can be, although I’m sure we will probably never be given a payoff for that situation (unless Phlunt is horribly killed by Taimi down the line). The PC is surprisingly unsympathetic to the concerns of a vulnerable genius child who worships Scarlet and increasingly feels shunned and wronged by her peers. And also encourages the participation of children in combat.

Um, a few things.

A: Asura are like that. The only good thing is when Taimi graduates and becomes a full adult citizen, she may get those designs back and labeled as her. Or not, depends on if she continues to be on Phlunt’s bad side.
B: The PC recognizes that they need the Asura Arcane council in the meeting. If it means bending a little to an angry old asura, they’ll bend a little. Taimi’s device isn’t worth losing the possibility of Asura in the summit, and perhaps Asura support for the entire effort. basically, it’s “Let Taimi keep her device, lose the Asura support.” or “Give up Taimi’s device, get the chance of Asura support.”
C: How does the PC encourage the participation of children in combat?

In GW 1, player character can pay a NPC to master a 2nd profession along side their first profession. Livia as a GW 1 hero is player controllable and therefore can expect to be like wise in having a 2nd profession.

However by racial type, Livia matches Queen Jennah (both red hair with light brown skin), and the former Queen Salma matches Anise (both red hair with white skin).

Erm… Salma is light brown skin. http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/0/0b/Salma.jpg

Average mesmer can summon a talking clone ?
Clearly Anise is not just an “average mesmer”. She’s more powerful than any of player-controlled mesmer since we can only summon 3 clones at once.
Kasmeer will be 2nd most powerful mesmer due to infinite range and duration portal.
She can even blink without line of sight or gap between.

GAME MECHANICS AND BALANCE.

Otherwise we are saying the one random human necromancer who only is involved in two-three events is more powerful then any of the player ones because she can summon THREE flesh golems at once.

Which is laughable. Certain things implicate Anise is a very powerful mesmer, but game mechanics aren’t among that.

Also, Anise being Livia IMO is very unlikely, because that means in PS she PURPOSEFULLY didn’t use her full power to protect the queen in a very dangerous situation against the Risen, when we know she can easily protect an area from them (IIRC, I’ve heard mentions that any Risen that tried climbing onto the ship she was on, instantly vaporized).

Scarlet didn’t really blow up DR, just did tiny damage to one area. Again, with machines. Mesmer magic might not work as well on machines as they do on a living mind.

edit: Also didn’t they combine powers to do that in Ebonhawke? And who says there was no physical affects to them? MAYBE there was (that the public wasn’t informed about) and that’s why they don’t do it again, because they don’t want that happening again and/or maybe getting worse.

And after the hearts are done? It’s probably a lot more positive, yes? I think if we are talking “present day” timeframe, we should go with hearts as “complete” not at start.

Also, Black Citadel, like DR, is timelocked at the very start of the PS story. The one time I recall is when somebody asks a Charr about the treaty, and he responds with “It’s a cease fire right now, not a treaty yet.”

Like in DR you’ll hear people talking about how supply caravans are running late, and the centaur forces are threatening to overrun the Seraph, and the ministers talking about pulling more Seraph to safeguard the city vs actually defending areas further out. Which we know, as of current day, the Centaurs are a threat but not nearly as major as back then.

Either way, off topic to the Episode 3 feedback I think. In general, two years may not be enough for all the details of a Treaty to be worked out.

I noticed that the sister’s model changes a few times. Maybe you just don’t recognize her!

Actually, false. If you did the lost sister storyline (which involves describing your ancestors and thus that generates a look for your sister, based on Elonian, Canthan, Ascalonian, or Krytan.), should you do the set of Orr PS missions that include her, she uses that model.

HOWEVER, if you did not do that storyline at the early levels (aka, any other race or the other two regrets), her model is randomized between the four options, meaning one player might get a Canthan Deborah, another an Ascalonian.

It’s implied in one area of Fields of Ruin they use Marmox’s for charr mounts.

IIRC, it’s a wounded Charr who “Leapt off a Marmox and at a branded” :P

Franky, while the explanation would work in Ascalon perhaps, it doesn’t make sense for Kryta. AND we see a LOT of carriages. I truly think it boils down to “Anet wanted to avoid the mobs screaming for riding horses” in this case.
