Asuran style, said to be an ancient Asura settlement.

Likely the Asura lived on the surface in ancient times, then went underground for some reason.

When they were forced back to the surface, they reclaimed some of those ruins as settlements.

Basically, with the sons, it’s a case of the existing worship of Jormag just gets upped several notches.

Branded and Risen we see people going from neutral/hating the dragons to suddenly worshipping them.

edit: Actually, just having done the snowblind fractal, the vet sons of svanir wielding axes (shirtless, no helm) did appear to have a snowy/icey layer over their skin. Hard to tell without looking closely.

Anything spellcaster is going to be more common then warrior, ranger, thief, or maybe guardian (unless more magic focused instead of martial) in the lore sense.

Necromancers? Unsure, but it could easily work. Exploring how bodies work/flesh and bones interact if you wanted to be sciencelike.

I don’t think it’d be SUPER odd, but perhaps not as common as eles.

Hmm, I don’t think so. The impression I get of the Ministry is that many of them are “patch defenders”; they look out for their own self-interests first and aren’t interested in doing anything which might impact them economically or personally. Ambient dialogue in DR tells us that some of them advocate pulling away Seraph protection for towns like the Ascalon Settlement, for example, in favour of providing greater security closer to home.

With that in mind, it seems highly unlikely that they’d go to war with the Charr when that means a very real threat of Kryta getting invaded by a military force even stronger than that of the Centaurs.

Yeah, one pair of random dialogue has one guy trying to argue with another minister for greater Seraph presence out toward Nebo and Ascalon Settlement, and the other says they need those forces if the Centaurs push, and if “They could push the front lines out that far then they could do it.”

He responds with “We represent the interests of those outside the city as well…”
And she bluntly goes “Then they should move into DR were we can keep them safe!”

Besides the one who rants against the Charr being untrustworthy, the Ministry wouldn’t support it :P.

Who said Ogden is an engineer? He was a priest, not an explosives expert.

Who said either actually went with the ‘heroes’ anywhere in the lore afterwards?

Gwen obviously becomes the captain of the Ebon Vanguard shortly after (a year or so), it’s likely the others went to other things as well.

Again, who would teach the humans all the secrets? How could Ascalon even capitalize on it, given how their resource base and population was almost entirely destroyed? Note, the ability to make Deldirmor metals? Lost until just recently when a Norn found it again.

If no dwarf smiths are alive/not stone (or willing to share secrets), who teaches humanity?

Again, “All of which were transferred for the exclusive use of humanity” Proof. Dwarves and humans were not THAT AWESOME GREAT PALS in lore. Trading buddies who let each other through their lands at best for terms of nations. Obviously they’d be nicer to the one group which helped them retake their capital, but to the entire race? I’m unsure.

Almost all of the Deldrimor dwarves were turned to stone with the ritual, bar Odgen and a few others, and the stone summit. That means the bulk of their engineers and smiths aren’t going to be helping humanity figure out secrets.

I still see no explanation for how or WHY humanity would gain all this knowledge.

How would the ‘hero group’ get the black powder or other tech?

How would they understand it? Who would explain it? How would they ‘share’ the knowledge.

This is a group of adventurers, not scientists, engineers, or brilliant minds.

I’m sorry, but I played pretty much everything (bar a chunk of PVP) in GW1… and I don’t see where you are getting how humanity should’ve become the major military and tech force in the world.

Ascalon was clinging to the last shreds of life, Kryta was trying to rebuild it’s government…

IIRC, in the first game it was labeled more as you were born with it, and training enhanced it (Warriors, rangers, and paragons were the classes without any magic as I recall).

Gw2, it seems like most classes have some magic, if a tiny bit (warriors causing shockwaves with maces… but that could be gameplay only?). Course with magic becoming a little more free, it’s reasonable to assume most people have magic, just different degrees of natural talent/power.

She will never be disconnected from the Pale Tree, never be disconnected from the dream, never be disconnected from Ventari’s teachings (and his tablet). All of them are connected, you cannot choose to omit one and stay with the other.

Actually, you can. Take the sylvari pirates – they’ve obviously rejected the tablet and Ventari’s teachings, but they’re not of the Nightmare by all indications.

Ventari Tablet != Dream of Dreams. They are separate. One is a philosophy (the tablet), while the other is a metaphysical biological/magical connection the children of the Pale Tree hold.

Indeed. I once viewed pirate sylvari as ones who may have left nightmare court/wasn’t fully turned, but that might not hold true anymore.

They could be soundless, or connected to the dream, but they still are acting outside the “ONLY HAVE THREE CHOICES” thing.

Furthermore are a lot possibilities given to demotivate people, so why did it choose the gods as topic, especially if we have 4 playable races who don’t worship the six?

Because it’s a priest, and though the other races don’t worship the gods, except for the sylvari they all believe they exist and they’re powerful – norn view them on par to their Spirits of the Wild. But the priestess may not know this anyways, but she came from Orr whom view the gods higher than any other.

High priests of Orr wouldn’t know about the Norn, Sylvari, or Asura. Either way, it’s likely to be part of how Zhaitan controls them/their soul (Since the priest in the story instance is stated to have his soul). Zhaitan couldn’t just have their soul follow him willingly, so he plants the idea that he consumed the gods in order to make the priests soul twist and bend to his will.

Purely theory though.

The sparks at the statues of Dwayna don’t automatically attack the risen there if the temple is cleaned. Does it turn sparks into risen? The cleaned Lyssa statues has several elementals around it which also do not attack risen. Does it turn earth-, fire and iceelementals into risen? That they automatically don’t attack each other, doesn’t mean they are of the same kind, the ones are risen and the other are undead.

A lot of elementals and oozes do not attack risen – this is likely due to how they function on a whole. Elementals are formed from magic, so it wouldn’t be odd to see that they’ve been corrupted either. Oozes take in the capabilities of those they digest, so if they digest risen it would be odd for them to not end up being corrupted. Though that’s speculative, but the point remains that anything not of the dragon’s minion will be attacked because anything not of the hive mind is perceived an enemy. This is a fact stated by Jeff Grubb and in Edge of Destiny. The fact they don’t attack elementals and oozes is interesting, but the fact remains.

But the so-called “undead” are risen. There’s no difference.

Hell…

“Icebrood elementals” and “branded sparks.”

It would not be a stretch at all to say there are “risen” corrupted elementals. Destroyers would be the stretch, but that’d only be for ice elementals or air. They could easily corrupt earth or fire ones :P.

edit: Meaning obviously Jormag wouldn’t corrupt fire elementals, and Primordus Ice ones. But the fact remains we’ve seen elementals explicitly corrupted by dragons.

In terms of Lore, it’s a city with (as of Kralk’s awakening moment) a smashed gate.

However, since the cease fire was instantly formed around that time, the Ebon Vanguard could have easily repaired the gate back to it’s former self. It’s not a ruin, it’s still very much a functional city and fortress.

As for the gates, I think if Ebonhawke was under attack and the gates breached, the Asura would shut off the gate to prevent it from being used that way. I don’t think it takes long to shut the thing down.

Ventari’s tablets are merely teachings. They can be in the dream but not follow the teachings above all else. Even then, the teachings basically end up as being decent, kind people…

And yet we blasted Tequatl many times with the megalaser before (which is canon), and he lived and returned.

The whole event has changed with the update. Before Tequatl update he fled after being defeated. After Tequatl update he dies at the end of the event. This is an important difference. If you don’t believe me, then check how Shatterer dies at the end of the event (he doesn’t). If we can take this as a real confirmation in addition with Rox’s statement, he is possibly dead now. I looked the end of the event up again and there is still the possibility that he rises over and over again.

The Shatterer explodes. Tequatl’s defeat animation however, is exactly the same besides a small piece of his tail flying off and landing on the ground.

They couldn’t smelt metals… yet we saw them with armor, swords, and metal structures in EOTN…

Also, let’s assume Ascalon got the ‘dwarf tech’ (Note, it was explosive powder, and that was about it…) they wouldn’t be able to do anything with it because Ascalon’s resource base and industry is shattered.

ALSO the fact that the remaining dwarves that weren’t involved with the ritual at first lasted an unknown amount of time before they turned or died. They very well could’ve lasted until the Ebon Vanguard left to return to Ascalon.

Your Extrapolations don’t match the lore though, how would humanity suddenly turn into the ‘military superpower’ and ‘engineering head’, simply from having the black powder they can or can not make more of (at the time). Simply having the barrels of powder doesn’t help much.

Also, it’d only affect one nation. If Ascalon got it, then it doesn’t matter as they were so broken and tattered they couldn’t capitalize on it.

Kryta, the only other nation nearby? Maybe they could act on it better, but they are a good distance from Ascalon, and thus couldn’t realistically help them.

Isn’t there a heart which involves the ruins (that we can see in lots of places, which are Asura style) implying at some point the Asura were on the surface, then went back underground?

Either way, I do kinda believe the whole “We just wiped out their field forces.” Since we never go to the “Shiny cities” Saul entered, which were weeks+ ride away from Kryta, likely on the isles of janthir.

Because Asura explicitly allow others to use the gate with the purpose of “Can’t use it to wage war.”

Aka, the Charr can’t march an army through the Asura gate, through LA/vigil keep, and into the DR Asura Gate for purpose of invading Kryta.

ALL Asura gates have an operator and assisstants nearby. It wouldn’t take them long to shut them down or sabotage the gate if it came to it.

edit: likewise, it stands to reason that asura waypoints can’t transfer large numbers of people or supplies effectively or within reasonable price, as noted by EVERYBODY using supply caravans instead of waypointing materials there.

Tell me, has anybody confirmed the kill (lore wise)?

Rox got his tail and said that he is dead now. I take this as confirmed.

And yet we blasted Tequatl many times with the megalaser before (which is canon), and he lived and returned.

Just like plaguebringer, With the dragon champions (especially Risen, which are supposedly very tough to kill), I’d rather see hard confirmation then Rox who took a piece of his tail and left, and didn’t stick around to see if he came back out or not.

Hard confirmation being “We’ve seen his corpse laying there on the ocean floor.”

Narru explicitly states Tequatl repeatedly emerged from the water, each time growing stronger.

“I take it you are here as part of Operation Screaming Sky. Excellent, I’m Warmaster Narru, commanding officer. Mark my words, Zhaitan’s champion will not outfox us here.”
“Vigil tacticians have noticed that Tequatl has been improving its battle strategies with every emergence. We’re here to see if there’s any truth to that analysis.”
“If it is adapting, we’ll face a smarter, deadlier foe every time it emerges. What we determine here will chart the course of future dragon-lieutenant conflicts.”
“Infantry, support golems, technicians. The only non-regulation item is the megalaser cannon. It should put a hole in Tequatl, assuming we can properly deploy it.”
“Some asura have been testing this laster against Tequatl for a while. We’ve made a generous offer for the weapon. Now, we’re amplifying its power for the operation.”

Unlike other dragon champs, or world bosses, Tequatl explicitly is noted to emerge repeatedly. He’s been blasted by the megalaser many times, yet is still around.

About the gods, Jeff said in an interview that the gods are in the mists. So none got eaten by Zhaitan. They’ve been in the mists for a long while now.

Rurik called Adelbern a stubborn fool when he went after the ambassador as well, infront of his guards and the characters no less. That time he stomped off.

The Krytan ambassador came giving supplies FREELY to Orphanages, and offering more aid. Not once was “chosen” involved or mentioned. The White Mantle freely let the Ascalonian refugees settle (in a secluded part, but settle still), and left them alone, even after the Mursaat got ousted. They only went after them during the War in Kryta (which was a few years after that event).

YES, they may have had dark motives (More converts, more chosen being found, etc), but the White Mantle was kitten good at hiding it. Pretty much outside of the Shining blade, and the heroes who are forced to see it firsthand, pretty much the general populace was fine with them. Sure some were worse then others, but overall it was okay.

Adelbern may have been correct in doubting the ambassador, but he literally went after the guy to try him for Treason when ALL HE HAD DONE WAS GIVE SUPPLIES TO ORPHANAGES, as well as being Krytan.

Not the actions of a sane, rational man.

Nobody says the Charr were heroes back then (much less from the player viewpoint). Hell, you can find Charr who downright called the actions of the Flame Legion as of that time period evil and villainous.
