I purchased gems last night in the middle of all the chaos happening (which was no fault of anet being the one getting attacked) and support brought their A-game as always and fixed me right up! I love Anets support team! If I could buy them all a pizza I would!

It’s very well to say make more armor however they said it takes 9 months to make one set for 2 sexes and 5 races. How does your suggestion get them out faster than that.

I doubt that outfits significantly compete with armor in production time. Outfits can probably be made by a couple of people who don’t have the specialized knowledge of how to make armor in this game. In other words, the armor team and the outfit team are different and the armor team needs to do and know more.

If it is taking 9 months to to do an armor set for just two genders someone is going about it all wrong. Coded templates should have been in the files after launch that could have improved work flow for parenting, rigging, collision, assigning stats, inventory, equipping/unequipping, along with assigning particle effects if any.

Clipping checks could stretch out if each item is tested against every other set and animation cycles, but even that should have had a test program in place to improve future work flow. Tools/presets are king for doing things faster and more efficient.

Edited because I’m the queen of typos. UV mesh and texture assigning were not mentioned because there is no preset for that but maya makes that a snap.

I have been saying this for a long time. However, I think we should go a step further. Remove servers all together and pool the community, randomly assigning teams based off a number of things such as guild, time zone and the people on your friends list. This way teams are not made up with the same people from the same servers all the time, you can pull from the entire community to make actual balanced matchups and you aren’t splitting community’s up.

And that will only cater to the super guilds. I’m so over them that I’d rather be on the very last tier where I’d never have to play with them ever again. Everything they have touched has crashed and burned server landscapes when they all decided to up and move to another server.

It’s so sad that the huge majority of the comments you see in here now are about removing the linking even though the apparent poll asked for it. But of course the poll was in favor since MOST people that play gw2 are on the top 4 tiers… that in itself skewed the results of the poll. Those of us in the lower tiers that really liked how we played had no chance.

We have also seen our community slowly broken down into either roaming guild groups or simply groups that come in for missions and leave. Most hosts are gracious and fun to run with but it is THEIR server, not ours. A large number of the people I know personally don’t like the big zergs and don’t run in them. I would rather run with a few people and run havoc on camps and towers and battle other roamers than be a “borg” drone.

ANet will continue to see these posts; will continue to ignore them because they know better; and will continue to see people like us play less. As I’ve said in other posts, I’ve seen so many of my friends stop playing completely. The other leader of my guild and her partner are two of them. My guild went from a nice roaming group of about 10 on average, to a group of 1-3 on a good day in WvW. I know at least 6 other people personally that stopped playing because of the linking…. and that’s just people that I know.

One positive thing financially has come out of this for me though.. I spend a LOT less money on gems than I used to since my commitment to WvW and even to this game has dropped off significantly.

I truly don’t understand why ANet thinks that it’s ok to toss people around from server to server and really think that they love it… because I believe most of us don’t. The ones that do (for the most part) already had moved to higher tier servers… :P

I was one of those people who voted for it. But me and a bunch of other people assumed that we would retain our name and/or rotate out every week. If I knew we would be just someone else’s kitten every week I’d vote no

More guildhall options would be nice. I’d like to see a bit of rework on the older halls as well. Like removing the static deco from the taverns so that we can place our own, along with other decorating obstructions in the zone.

That and I’d like a brilliant tool maker who could address some of the issues with placement of decorations. I love that the objects have collision, but it gets old having to waypoint out from under objects that your avatar got trapped under while trying to place something.
I would like to see a slider system for XYZ (YAW and Pitch would be nice also) and the avatar not be the pivot point unless the object is zeroed to the avatar. The wide looping pivot has made me appreciate gliding all the more after falling off a few ledges while trying to line something up.

Other than that Deco. Lots of deco and carpets.

Right now we have two types of wvw in play. One is dominated by super guilds that want to win at all cost including stacking servers, spying, and making deals with enemy teams to dog another with a rolling blob.
Then there is the other that wants a solid wvw server community. less blobbing while utilizing “more” smaller groups/roamers.
In my honest opinion a three team face-off should be reserved for the top tiers like the superbowl of wvw play and the ladder up to it should be 1v1 with less maps to fight on.
The very lowest tiers maybe just 2 borderland maps, a tier higher maybe just two desert maps, next tier maybe two border land maps with a modified 2 team EB, then the next tier could introduce three team play with just an EB while the last and highest tier is all out with what we have now.
I think that would accommodate everyone’s play style nicely by simply adapting the map system to be more intuitive to wvw server population.
Other than that I’d like to see more incentive given to those that place and refresh siege. Defenders need some love.

What WvW needs is a purpose.

What many of us have wished for from the beginning is that WvW be a serious competitive game-mode(with all the balance related things people have already listed).

Right now playing WvW does not matter, playing WvW skillfully does not matter. Winning the week does not matter. Winning outnumbered fights, or PPTing better than anyone else does not matter.

Now imagine if WvW had the structural framework to give a purpose to doing WvW. Skirmishes were a baby step in that direction, but have lacked any sort of follow up at all.

Make winning matter, make playing well matter. Give people a reason to be in WvW and give them a reason to improve their play.

PvP was never a big part of my gaming experience (which goes way back) until GW2 WvW. I don’t know what it is about it but it latched onto me and wouldn’t let go.

The lore is not in sync with wvw. In pve everyone is uniting against dragons while in WvW battles are raging with one another. The differences in homelands and server banners are completely absent in representation. Why?

WvW is a unique formula that has made pvp appealing to those who never really cared about pvp play. That’s “special!”. Built on it please!

I’m +1 for merging. As it stands now the rotations often have you under the banner of another server and unless this latest gimmick is a super secret darpa study to decimate community cohesion I’d say its time to ditch it and quit catering to the super guilds that play musical servers and slanted server stacking blobfest.

What? I don’t know the reasons why Devs choose to move people despite the link. I just stated the facts and I know this to be true because I have Arenanet staff in my guild and I have met individuals with these abilities.

Hel also has devs in Guild, moving a off hour Guild into a already stacked server, seems someone paid more than cookies.

No one moved Hel. A singular person is not moving a guild regardless if Hel has Devs or not.

A popular off hours commander is moved on to a locked very stacked server. This is not someone that has waited eons to join his guild, there is plenty that would like to know the reason why this case was different than all other requests we read about for people to join friends.

Yeah its questionable. ArenaNet will never tell you why. They’ve also been doing this since the dawn of time. They’ve moved people to locked servers for reasons unknown many many many times over even during a season tournament. They will not tell you why because they simply don’t want the community to take advantage I’m sure.

Classy. I know emulators with higher professional standards :S

There would be no hacks if someone took the time to actually read the kitten admin logs. If you hacked its most likely there in the logs. And I agree that free accounts have made exploiting in wvw worse and its not improved the game mode or population situation.

I started out on a small server that was mid tier-ish. It was a good community that worked together and fought hard.
In fact more often than not they held their own till they were faced rolled for months on end by servers that expanded with guild transfers. Then one day I looked up and everyone was gone. So I transferred and ended up on a T1 server.

You’d think everything would be peachy after that but it wasn’t. The server ended up with many of the same problems with guilds moving off, and flooded with other guilds which left the server’s WvW community divided. Frustrated I transferred again, and went down to about mid tier hoping to escape the drama and find a nice little WvW community again.

That’s all I want. I’m not ate up with being #1. I just want to WvW and work together again as a community in fair match-ups where everything is not all about blobbing.

I have nothing against those that like that sort of WvW play. I just miss the community I lost and would like to have something like that once again.

The main problem with NA WvW is that the top tier servers have always looked to recruit experienced lower tier players to fill a perceived coverage imbalance. Linking just makes it easier for them to assimilate you.

I don’t want to be assimilated. In fact I went back to mid tier in an attempt to escape the cluster blob mass gank fest or stalemate mess. In my opinion between the players playing musical servers and Developers running in circles to accommodate them has ruined everything I loved about WvW and trashed the concept of server community.

I was a WvW nut. I guess I could go pvp but I doubt that will hold my interest long since its format is like most pvp platforms:/

Being honest I found the top tiers terribly boring with all the stalemates and colliding blobs. Or worse when two teams decided to broker deals and face roll a lesser team. If I had my wish a line would be drawn at tier 3 where all of you at the top were stuck with one another and unable to transfer guilds down and the lower tiers merged evenly with 1v1 server face offs. To me that sounds heavenly.

Adjustment to Deployable Cannons

I got to see the cannons in action this morning. They were an excellent counter to a massive zerg. Usually when you are faced with an enemy that is like a huge red tide rushing in on your “smaller numbers” you could kiss anything you were holding goodbye.

Its a game changer. Will it be exploited in the near future? If it can be done you can take it to the bank that players will try lol.

I wanted to add that it didn’t help every time, but sometimes it could turn the tide. (bad pun intended :P)

That’s nice and all when you’re defending, but it just becomes stupidly obnoxious when a large zerg uses it against you while you’re the smaller force. It legit renders any kind of counterplay impossible due to the chill stacking. When you have 60-70 people camping 10+ cannons, there’s nothing you can do but give up the structure.

I get where you are coming from, and yes that would suck if a larger force used them on a much smaller defending force. It don’t surprise me though. Like I said if players can find a way to exploit something, history is proof they will try.

The log thing is backward. As one who has actually milled my own lumber, a log should give you several planks. Just saying. Oh and pine is not a hard wood.

This is the thing that angers me the most about crafting and why I generally hate it.

I assume my troglodyte of a character, who only knows murder and war, looks at the 3 logs and just beats them against each other, screaming like a madman the entire time, until all that is left is one rough plank and a cloud of sawdust and sweat.

Don’t get me started on cooking…

Do you see the size of the “trees” we cut down? They’re saplings. Unless we are making window, door and floor trim, we aren’t going to get more than a couple of 1×3s.

Another thing I’d like to add is that gear changes for Vets that are sitting on stacks of spirit shards, materials, tokens ect is kind of a minor inconvenience while its a drop kick to the crotch for those of us that have not been in the game all that long. I’m sick of the cycle of set-backs that keep plaguing those of us that have played GW2 just a little over a year.

Hero tokens for one.

Development said that they recognized the imbalance/ penalty against the new and starting WvW player and did away with the dmg/health buff line to only offer it again with rewards gated by hero tokens…Gear wars is WoW, while GW is suppose to be more about build and play style.

The last time the changes set me back I took about 4 months off out of frustration (check my logs, I just came back, and I’m being honest here). I’m not sure I’m prepared to take another, and I certainly won’t open my wallet for it.

Elite skills seem underwhelming.

I think GW1 did a better job with the elite skills. It was superior in offering more diversity/options, and were also more usable without the huge cooldowns.
GW1 also had a much better skill bar where you could adjust the UI the way you liked it for your play style.

The game feels more like a WoW knock-off than GW to be frank and GW was better with the exception of not having an open game world and dungeons. WoW had epic dungeons.

After reviewing this thread I agree with many that it is time to separate WvW from PvE. Its no secret that I’m a WvW fan. That is “my game mode”. However what I see being purposed makes me happy but it is going to have a negative impact on the PvE community. I don’t want that. This game has had too many shake-ups and the recovery from the last one has been slow (check the numbers do the math). The formula between pvp,wvw,pve,raids creates too many variables to balance without having a negative impact on game mode, diversity, and classes.

Its time to take a serious look at this proposal that players from all platforms have asked for. Please.

Better Rewards

WvW-rankup-chests look a bit slim atm compared to the reward tracks though. I would like to see a weaponset/armorskinset that is exclusive for wvw and can drop off the wvw-rankup-chests (higher chance with higher ranks) and small adaptations to the rankup-chests to make them worthwhile (guaranteed rare for example, more sinks for the exclusive rankup materials). If reward tracks have to be toned down for this to be implemented, then I would be fine with that.

WvW already have exclusive Armor and Weapons: The Triumphant Armor and the Hero Weapons (And the Triumphant Hero and Mistforged Weapons who are currently unavaible but already planned to go live someday/somehow).

That’s the problem…its always someday somehow were WvW is concerned. It has improved I agree, but not enough to stay exclusively in WvW.

Targetting is horrid

I don’t use auto target and I still have issues with targeting.
I have the problems where tab targeting selects random yellow mobs over players, I have the problem where I will randomly untarget the player without being taunted or them stealthing.

What’s really annoying is when I try to drop target to use a weapons movement skill and it continues to target the person (even though it doesn’t show it) and leaps me in the opposite direction of where I am trying to go.

I second this. Even when not using auto target it is cumbersome and makes drop-target/retargeting difficult.

The bulk of LGN is on JQ, I’m on Mag and AR, I think theirs still a handful on Ebay that never made the move to JQ. I may end up moving my AR account to rejoin them but I’m waiting to see who AR get’s paired up with in the next link. I really didn’t enjoy JQ’s play style and I’d rather avoid being there.

If they were for sell I’d flip out the credit card to buy stacks of them because I’m always in need of spiritshards!!! (yes I’m crazy! I’ve blown over $1,000 in a year on pixels)…Gating kills my shopping fix…..

RPers don’t bother me, but as someone else mentioned, wouldn’t an RP exclusive channel be a good thing for everyone?

Non-RP people could filter RP out and RP people could have their own channel to talk and not be bothered by all the non-RP chat.

Win-win IMO.

Yes and No. Yes because RPer’s could hook-up and organize better without emoting others to death. No because Rpers have always been a “targeted group” to be grieved by those that think wrecking other peoples game play gives them first seat on the short bus…

Such a channel would have to have moderators, which I’m all for.

WvW rewards are better, but still fall short of PvE offerings. Dump the hero tokens and go with just battle points.

Now, what people are describing as the negatives to having a system like Battlegroups or alliances, I see is already in play. What people describe as Battlegroups is largely responsible for why ArenaNet can never solve these balancing issues given this current system. They have no way to quantify or even analyze these groups and their limitation based off formula and numbers.

Those things that are negatives which are already in play are limited. Battlegroups remove the limitations, making it worse. You’re arguing that these groups of people are already negatively affecting the game, so they should be given the ability to do so even more.

I agree the server linking has not “worked as intended” but its also the players that have made this an issue with server hopping. Players have screwed this up. Not developement. It was also an issue long before the super server was launched. So suck it up. “WE DID THIS!”

Stealth players are not an issue for me. I’m an old woman and kill them all the time, but I play all classes and usually know what they are trying to pull off. Its the groups of three running a stealth train and using one to sucker you in. Its a very clever strategy. But it comes at a price of crushing those who like to roam instead of blob up. In the end it hurts game play.

Conditions doing too much damage?

Please I run condi and die like a champ all the time on several toons. Granted I’m not that great (old eyes, hands, and reaction time). Everything is a trade-off. If you want to survive more= less damage. If you want to smote like an archangel = pour it all into damage stacking. Condi is only a pain when it is stacking with other players condi (sorry folks but its the truth). The red rings of death are still a pain for other classes in WvW.

Dont forget that you can still make more gold in PvE!
You know how Anet like to keep things balanced.

“TRUE!!!” Why is that? As long as WvW is healthy and happy it still earns the project $$ because players will still make cash purchases.

God knows I’ve been here just a little over a year and have made my creditcard sing high notes buying pixels.

I seen that happen to my first server. One day I looked up and everyone was gone. On the same note DB was one of the worse about not fighting unless it had overwhelming odds in its favor, mass numbers in off hour play for NA, siege humping against smaller servers till they demoralized them into nothing. Karma is a funny thing.

You will feel that way until you play all classes and have a better understanding of how they work and how to counter them. Right now stealth is pretty balanced. Way better than it was before.

I respect that you are trying to think of a way to give more incentive for players to strive to defend more. Often in WvW they are really the unsung hero’s that make or break a matchup. but what you are talking about here is way too much gold and will lead to more problems like those mentioned in other post before mine. Also you’ll see more just logging in to stand in a keep with a second account to farm it if that much gold was offered.

As for rewards I still feel they are lacking and the heroic tokens should be dumped for battle points to buy with. Once again development had to put in a handicap gear edge against new or starting players…such /fail.

Targetting is horrid

I don’t know how a game with targeting this bad could ever think they could host esports. I play all professions. I get the clone and pets thing because its part of the classes defence, but I’ll target everything but the player…rabbits, squirrels,gates,deer… you can’t even cycle through targets correctly. I’m trying to be constructive here. At least fix cycle target please.

Targeting is a backbone issue for a game world like gw2, and especially for competitive play like pvp and wvw. I’m not sure which I find more troubling though. The thought that I will have to continue hobbling along with it the way it is, or that it will be addressed and something worse will be put in its place. I’ve seen that happen in a few games :S

Geez we already glide, and to be honest that’s pretty epic as far as mmo travel goes. Add the wp system and we are sitting pretty good.

Meanwhile over on reddit someone is reporting to the dev’s that they are scanning this forum for response and it appears the changes to the class are so-so as far as reception goes.

DH was hitting at about 50-50 win or lose for me. These changes put the class right back in the toilet. Thankfully I now have other classes I can play that I leveled and equipped just in case they did this. Thief seems to be the new flavor of the month again and warrior is looking a little better. I hate to switch but I’m not going to play the guarding whipping post ever again…those days are over.

What I’d like to see is everything you own on your home map gives a bump to supply on eb. And yes I like auto upgrades because way too many can’t be bothered with it and its not fair for only a few to keep getting stuck shouldering it.
