The game doesn’t need to turn into a second Tera to sell more copies to teenage boys. Instead they can sell more copies to women, since the women can play an mmo where they don’t have to dress like a prostitute. Also a lot of families play mmo’s together nowadays.
As for those asking for more stripper armour, I really don’t understand how you people find graphics so attractive. It’s kinda weird tbh.
More attractive and bad-kitten looking sets would be good though, especially for medium armour. It’s perfectly possible to have an awesome looking character without promoting an attitude that’s degrading and disrespectful to women.
The problem in Cursed Shore is that the mobs are dying too quickly. The events really need to scale up a lot more.
1. Gear obtained from badges will have a more PvP aspect to it. Making it very effective in PvP, but not PvE. I.E. Choose whichever stats they have upon buying and giving them a little bit more resistance against players.
Are you talking about something like resilience in WoW? If so, absolutely not. It’s a horrible stat. I don’t like the extra traits idea either.
More unique skins for badges, sure. Titles, sure. Patterns for fancier looking siege equipment, sure.
No chance I’ll win, since I never win anything, but worth a try!
Thanks for the contest
With nearly 500 hours played, this is definitely not the case for me ^^
Buying levels, karma and map completions? Hall of Monuments even? O.o What on earth…? Is this a serious post?
I don’t mean to be rude, but this is the most absurd post I’ve seen on the forum.
These suggestions are pure pay to win and I will quit the game in disgust if these are implemented. I’m quite sure I wouldn’t be the only one either.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a hero, you’re not a member of their order. The order armour is their uniform.
The Pact is just an alliance, you aren’t a member of all the orders.
It makes no sense to wear other people’s uniforms.
Its like saying people should not be able to wear COF armor because they do not belong to Flame Legion!
The CoF armour is made available to you as the spoils of war after killing a lot of Flame Legion in their citadel. It’s not being sold to you by the Flame Legion. Crucial difference.
Function first, fun later is how everything works.
“tiny increments meant to ensure nothing unforeseen can happen”
Sounds perfectly sensible to me. If it were any other way I would question whether the company was being run by professionals or hobbyists in over their heads.
They have a lot of potential. I hope they’ll be revisited by the devs later.
Personally I’d like to see them made more mobile in combat. Also, they should have a random flight path over the entire zone (or possibly the world) and a random timer on when they attack. You should see the shadow glide over you and never know if it’s about to land on your head or just continue flying over.
I was logging on every day to a mailbox full of gold spam. The improvement this week is very noticeable. Keep it up, Anet!
I had no idea that PvP would be mandatory in order to acquire a PvE (you can’t use them in PvP can you?) legendary weapon
You can use them in WvW.
The legendaries are to show you’re a master of the whole game, as such you have to play the whole game.
@BTIGER Why should development time and money be spent altering the multiplayer content in a multiplayer game to suit people who want to play a single player game? It just doesn’t make sense when those resources can be spent improving and expanding the multiplayer content. Most people who buy an mmo want to play with people, it’s the core feature of the genre.
No this is an mmo, it should be multiplayer. If you want a single player game then play one. The heroes were one of the horrible things about GW1. Solo levelling is one thing, but dungeons?
Joining a guild would help, and otherwise they have said they’ll be improving the dungeon finder tool.
I love doing things in a group, but I do so with guild members. I chat a lot, but I do it in guild chat or sometimes map chat.
I used to pug a lot of dungeons on WoW in TBC and ended up with quite a few additions to my friends list because of it. After the cross realm dungeon finder was added I’ve had so many bad experiences with pugs I don’t want to do it any more, even if this is a different game.
As for groups for questing etc, I’ve never liked doing that with random people. I find it quite awkward and people don’t really chat, in my experience.
I hate random group/guild invites from people who haven’t even said anything, I think it’s quite rude.
I will happily talk for hours in guild chat and level, do WvW, do dungeons etc with guild members. We even had a jumping puzzle race one weekend.
I think the social aspect of all mmo’s comes from guilds. It’s like joining a club irl and making friends there while doing some activities. Pug grouping is like asking some random dude in the street if he wants to go to the cinema with you.
Yes, absolutely. In GW1 I collected a lot of prestige armour and I like to swap it around regularly. I really dislike the idea that some of it is destroyed now.
I like these ideas! But instead of Moa morph turning people into a reindeer, how about a Jingle Moa?
Why buy gold (from gold sellers) when u can buy gems and convert into gold in BLTP ?
Disclaimer – I’ve never purchased gold.
That said, right now, you can do either:
By 40,000 gems at $50 which will yeild around 12.5 gold.
or
Buy 50 gold from a gold seller at $50 (based on the spam I’ve received)So you tell me, would you rather get 12.5 or 50 gold for your 50 bucks? I’m not a fan of gold sellers, but the gem prices are so out of whack, you’d be a fool to buy gems at the current exchange rate.
You can probably buy a stolen TV from some guy outside a pub for a lot less than you can buy one in a store too. Doesn’t mean that the stores should lower prices and I should get a raise to prevent me from embarking on a life of crime because the guy is cheaper. Being in receipt of stolen goods is a crime, just as stealing is.
If they can get conclusive proof that people have bought gold I would publicly ban them (Dhuum). After the first few people will think a lot harder before buying gold.
I consider gold buyers to be just as bad as exploiters and users of hacks. They’re breaking the ToS, they’re cheating and they’re contributing toward making the game less enjoyable for “law-abiding” players.

I like the way the daily works now because it mostly just happens without me noticing it. After years of WoW dailies this is refreshing ^^
I think a weekly with specific randomised tasks would be a nice addition though.
Could possibly add some gem store extras as well, for example – unlock the ability to have your minipets display a little guild emblem in some way while fighting. They could have a little pole with a flag strapped on their backs perhaps (the art team can probably come up with something good!)
You could also add some kind of ranked match system as well as “friendly” games. A practice mode against AI would be good too.
If you’re a highly ranked player your pet could display a small medal next to it’s name, like the map completion star (but smaller).
The system could include a set of achievements and some titles too. Possibly opportunities to earn a special bonus pet as well.
As Daboris says, it would have to be a detailed as for example, Pokemon.

I’d be fine with no speed increase, I just want a horse for the looks and stuff to collect.
In response to the question about cash sinks… well you give certain vendors really expensive cultural barding ^^ (You could give the dungeon vendors barding as well, so your horse can match your armour.)
You could even give your horse repair costs – after you travel a certain distance it needs to be re-shoed. If you don’t replace your horses shoes then you can no longer ride it until you do.
I’d happily spend a fortune collecting Moa’s to ride, one in every colour. I’d buy every colour of horse as well, or Dolyak’s or whatever else they might see fit to put a saddle on. I wouldn’t be in favour of silly looking mounts though – some of the WoW mounts are so utterly over the top now that it looks ridiculous.
And yes, even if they have 0 speed increase I would buy them all. I just like mounts.
Edit: I’d also like some rare mounts around attached to difficult achievements.

I think its better to implement Ranger pet costumes instead of more pets.
I love this! I want to give my pets a Christmas hat!
why cant you draw on the mini map while in dungeons? sure the maps a little more complex in gw 2 but it just seems that it would make things easier
Can’t you? Haven’t tried it in a dungeon, but out it the world the feature is there. You have to hold shift while you do it.
Haha, I was thinking of suggesting something like this myself.
I’ve had a bunch of keys drop, and still have over 70 chests in the bank. They stack, so I don’t really care. They’ll be opened when they’re opened.
Your idea is quite nice though. I won’t buy keys at the moment because it’s a waste (even if I convert game gold). Random stuff is fun if it’s free, I can’t stand the idea of paying for it though. I’m not cut out for gambling :P
A lot of people here are saying that bots have no use for karma. You haven’t seen the powerlevelling / karma farming services advertised in map chat by the goldsellers then?
Not a lot of games are worth the full price nowadays, so I usually only buy them when they’re reduced / on sale. Paid full price for this as soon as pre-purchase opened. I’m on nearly 400 hours at the moment, so yeah definitely worth £50.
Yeah, even if it’s only available while you’re in the mists or something. Don’t see why it shouldn’t be allowed in all the cities though. Just give people an “Automatically decline invititations to duel.” checkbox.
One of my guild members saw something like this last night. He said there were around 20 all following each other.
I hope you reported them all!
I haven’t noticed this, especially the zerg part about you stealing their loot. What’s up with that O.o
I’ve been 80 for a while now and I always ress people I pass. Last night someone ran through me while I was downed, without stopping to ress. I was on a new alt and in a low level zone. That’s the first time that’s happened so far.
I suggest you server transfer while it’s free!
I actually wish they would just split the servers. Make casual servers where you faceroll through 6 dungeons and get a full armour set, while collecting thousands of gold and levelling to 80 in 4 days. People seem to want a private server with the xp & drops turned up, so give it to them. Then make hardcore servers where people can earn things in a challenging environment without constant cries for nerfing.
I am being entirely serious here. FPS games have hardcore servers with special rules, why can’t mmo’s?
Separate difficulty modes on the same server just don’t work. This arguing always turns up on the forum, whether it’s GW2, WoW, SWToR…
I think Anet made a mistake naming the dungeons. Story mode should have been called dungeon mode and explorable should have been called raid mode.
People are expecting to lol their way through explorables with every random glass cannon they find, while watching TV (WoW dungeon finder style).
Explorable mode should require co-ordinated groups and VoIP. Those are exactly the people Anet said explorables were designed for. They did not at any point say that explorable mode is for bad pugs and that everyone who logs in should have the dungeon gear in 2 days.
And could people please stop saying that “casual” players can’t do explorables. It’s not true. A lot of explorables can be done in an hour, with a decent group who know how their class works and how to dodge. Plenty of social guilds can do this. Before I get the “I don’t have time to join a raid guild! I have a life!” reply, social guilds don’t have the mandatory attendance requirements that raid guilds have.
Also, to Anet – please add more interesting raid style boss mechanics to explorable modes!
Yes please to both of those. Particularily the WvW bags, I don’t want to risk dying to go fetch a bag.
City events would be great! Also more city mini games like keg brawling.
@ Titles
I’m pretty sure those are in the Hero Panel somewhere.
Yes they are – in the achievement pane. However, you need to select people to see the the title they’re displaying.
I think they really should make the titles more visible, put them under the name.
I saw a quote from Anet on gw2 guru somewhere that said Guild Halls are in development.
Seriously if you’re gonna talk about timezones, stop using names like “pacific”, “eastern” and “central”. Use UTC+- or GMT+-, which is much easier for everyone to understand.
Yeah, this. Or use the proper acronyms like PDT etc.
“Central” – US time? CET (Central European Time)? It’s not always clear from the context of the rest of the post.
And yeah… it will always be someone’s prime time. I’m impressed with the short maintenance times so far.
I love the downlevelling, and 80’s are by no means weak in low level areas. I 1-3 shot everything but champions. 80’s are actually still too powerful in low level areas.
The problem with the WoW dungeon finder is the cross-realm part. It would have been so much better had they made it same server only.
Then would have been a convenient tool and people who acted like jerks (leaving if their gear doesn’t drop, ninja-pulling & leaving, swearing/general bad attitude etc) would build up a bad reputation on their own server. In TBC people complained to your GM if you were a jerk in a pug. It definitely made a difference to people’s overall behaviour.
LFR however, is just pure fail in every way.
The circles are quite big, but the fight is certainly not impossible.
As for the crystals, I was happy to see a raid style mechanic. We had no trouble at all breaking people out, so I don’t know what you mean there.
That’s really sweet. Congratulations on your anniversary!
Amongst the sea of complaints that always plague MMO forums it’s nice to hear stories about how gaming helps people once in a while
If they made some really long questline that included a variety of activities that would be pretty cool. Something like the questline to get the moa minipet in GW1.
That was a scavenger hunt all over the world to collect items and eventually a trip to the end of the Sorrow’s Furnace dungeon to hatch your moa egg.
You could even make it so that the questline gave an pre-legendary exotic with a special skin, and then for the legendary an optional follow up chain with more difficult tasks.
This is a terrible suggestion. Downlevelling is great. If anything 80’s are a bit too OP in the low level areas, in exotics I can 1 -3 shot things
They should scale the 80’s down some more to compensate for the traits & gear and then up the level of the drops they get.
I think for 80’s everywhere but Orr should be equal to Frostgorge Sound – in terms of difficulty and drops.
I direct you to the British Army:
http://www.army.mod.uk/royalengineers/role/649.aspx
Combat engineers specialities include the use of demolitions and mines and the production and distribution of drinkable water.
GW2 Engineers sound like a fantasy version of the real ones to me.
I (and my friends and guild members) would like to see raids added to GW2. Yes, raids. With WoW style boss mechanics and progression. (Real WoW raids, no LFR nonsense mind you.)
This would provide challenging end-game content for guilds, with the social aspect of a larger group size. At the moment I hear a lot of praise from my guild for the levelling system, the combat, the mobility, the graphics – but still a lot of them are buying MoP even though they dislike a lot of the aspects of WoW. Why? Because raids are a great way to spend several evenings a week having fun with the guild.
If you could take the WoW type boss mechanics and combine them with GW2 mobile combat I think it would be quite refreshing. Before people say it’s not possible, it is. I can see hints of it in some of the dungeons. For example there’s a fight in CoE where you have to get the boss to hit into an electric pylon and stun himself. This is the core mechanic of Icehowl from WoW’s ToC. Elsewhere in the same dungeon we had to free people from Imprisonment Crystals. This type of mechanic appears in numerous WoW boss fights. I’m sure Anet could modify some more and come up with a fresh take on the ideas.
I don’t think that stat gear should be included in my proposed raids. Vanity gear and titles would be perfectly fine. Increasingly complex boss mechanics would provide progress.
I think you would pick up a lot more regular players with the addition of raids and solve a lot of the “I have nothing to do!” threads.
Please note once again, I am not saying that the raids should drop stat increase gear. Maybe a chance for a rare crafting material (like ecto’s and obsidian shards in GW1), a chance at a piece of vanity armour with a look specific to the raid (or tokens are fine too). Maybe even a chance for a unique minipet.
You could also drop crafting recipes for items with their own unusual skins. These items could then be sold in the TP by raiders and people who don’t want to do dungeons/raids but do want to look fancy, could buy them.
Award titles for completing difficult raids.
Have some easy(ish) starter raids roughly equal to the hardest dungeons and have the complexity progressively work up to the equivalent of Black Temple in TBC.
I keep hearing “I hope they add more raid mechanics to these bosses” and “I wish we could get a larger group in here” when we do dungeons.
If there are no stat increases then I don’t see the down side. It’s another optional activity for those who want it.
I want the Halloween event!
Anet can fix skill points while people are ignoring the skill points because they’re busy with the event stuff.
I think the idea was probably that big WvW guilds would be the ones with commanders. These guild know who their tacticians are. Everyone in the guild sends that guy some silver. There you have it, 100g.
I would very much like to see raid groups added. Organising a guild group is a pain at the moment.
People contributing a loss of players to Borderlands and Torchlight is hilarious. It says a lot that people compare GW2, which is supposed to be an MMO, to those single player games (that have a group option).
Those games do have an effect on the number of people online, plus the release of MoP at pretty much the same time.
Some one in my guild logged on the other day and said “aah so many great games to play, so little time!” because he was trying to make time for BL2, Torchlight and GW2.
I played 2 hours of WvW with my guild on Sunday, then spent the rest of the day playing BL2 with friends until it was time for a guild dungeon run in the evening.
I know bunch of people who will be playing WoW and GW2. At the moment they have to level and gear on WoW, but after that there’s nothing to do on WoW except on raid nights. So the rest of the time will be spent on GW2.
There were practically tumbleweeds in my guild chat on WoW when SC2 was released.
A huge amount of mmo players do play other games as well, but they come back to the mmo when they get bored with / finish the single player games.
Yes, there are people who have stopped playing GW2 for unrelated reasons. But there are also people who are temporarily playing with the new shinies.
