I still consider it a scumbag move. It was advertised as a permanent edition to the living world at the start. It was not advertised as something that would have to be purchased if you missed parts of it. At least not from the start, where it should have been. It was a cash grab and nothing more.
Actually, they advertised that story journal additions would be free ‘during a 2 week release period’, and that missed episodes would cost 200 gems from the very beginning. It was even mentioned in the same paragraph.

Not that I’m saying that I like the might nerf, but there seems to be a trend in this thread of asking when ANet will start creating separate versions of skills for PvP.
They ‘Have’ made a PvP/PvE separation in these very balance changes if you read them fully.
Confusion: The effect of condition damage on confusion has been increased by 33% in PvE only. This change does not affect PvP or WvW.
That must mean that they feel that there is a PvE reason to do the might nerf, or they would have split it just like they split confusion. Not sure what it is, but they clearly are no longer adverse to splitting skill effects in PvP and PvE based.

The 6000 AP chest ‘should’ have come with a shoulder armour skin. If you didn’t get that then you need to log a support ticket because something went wrong.

A have an alternative that we are considering.
A little background first. We are only looking at making this change to tidy up the front page of the forum, not hide all old posts. While the archived forums are in their own ‘Archive’ category, they still take up a significant amount of space, and we’re looking to give the front page a cleaner look.
So, let me know what you all think of this alternative plan:
Instead of making the archived subforums unavailable to read, we can ‘unpublish’ the subforums from the front page. These subforums would still be accessible (read-only) via a direct link to the page, but would not show up as links in the forum index.
Each of the forum categories has a little arrow that can be clicked to hide the sub-forums that live in the category.
e.g.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/collapse_category/44
Would it not be simpler to just default the archive category to be collapsed? That way players could still reference the archive without needing to know the links by clicking to un-collapse the archive.

But it’s not true for everyone. That’s the other side. I get to play how I want more than I did before, because I used to get 10 achievement points a day. That meant I had to spend a lot more time to get those points.
Now I can play how I want for more time each day. It’s all about perspective.
Yes, but it COULD easily be true for everyone. If the new dailies were less absurdly specific then everyone could/should be happy (though some may still complain about having to do 3 of 4, but we can’t always have everything we want). Swap out “Complete 4 events in X zone” for “Complete 4 events in X region” or “Complete 4 events while down-leveled.” Swap “Do X boss” for “Do a world boss.”
That easily they could restore some of the flexibility to integrate daily completion into other game goals while still retaining the major features of the new system. It is hard for me to see the downside. I’d think it better to have people attending all the world bosses, or spread out over many zones while down-leveled, than sending the players zerging through one zone or mobbing one specific boss anyway.
What about the people that posted threads, complaining that fact that you could do dailies without thinking about them, meant that the dailies were too generic and not worthy of the term “achievement”?
In the last couple of years there have been plenty of posts by players asking for more specific dailies. Simple fact is that you can never please every single person.
That’s not to say there’s not a possible middle ground though.

I could be completely wrong here, seeing as I don’t have a Legendary at all, but I was under the impression that if you bought Eternity and unlocked it for your wardrobe, you’d automatically also unlock the `skins` for Sunrise & Twilight (& Dawn and Dusk). So, from a skin point of view that would make it far superior to purchase Eternity than Sunrise or Twilight. You could always switch to one of the other versions if you decide that you prefer one over the others.
Stat-wise, legendary weapons are the same strength as Ascended weapons so they are better than Exotics, but not better than Ascended. However they are also guaranteed to remain best-in-slot, so if in the future a new tier of weapons comes out, Legendaries will be increased in power to match the new tier, and would then be better than Ascended.
For someone that cares about stats, the best advantage of the Legendary would probably be the ability to switch stats (e.g. Berserker, Celestial, Carrion etc)

Back in 2012 when we had left over cogs/stuffing etc, everyone expected to be able to continue to collect the set over the course of a few wintersdays. You must have known as well as everyone else the likelihood of those minis being available in subsequent years, but chose to buy them rather than wait.
These are the exact same mini’s that could be forged during 2012, and were awarded as the meta in 2013 and now in 2014. They have in fact been part of every GW2 wintersday reward since GW2 began, and will no doubt continue to be rewarded in 2015 and beyond.

“Also, because Season 1 of Living World was not built with the Journal in mind, it will not be available in the story Journal on initial launch when Season 2 begins. We do hope to add Season 1 to the Journal in the future”
That’s all we’ve heard on the matter. Hopefully season 1 will eventually be released via the Journal, but we’ve not got any sort of solid release date, nor even a solid guarantee that it’ll happen.

Just wanted to point out that if the dailies were directing players to complete Jumping Puzzles and Mini-Dungeons in specific zones, it would ruin the JP or MD.
There is already enough people complaining that there are too many people in the zone to do an event, imagine what it would be like having all those people trying to do the same JP’s. It would be impossible to see any of the jumps, or it would be just pointless skipping of JP via mesmer portal.
Likewise, the fun of the mini dungeon is actually ‘doing’ the mini-dungeon, not instantly getting the chest and daily, just by running through an empty area, where everything is already dead, and every puzzle is already completed.
JP’s and MD’s are the one place you don’t want targetted by the zerg.
It would not ruin them. The majority of them are fairly empty as it is as people have no desire to do them. Whether people gets ports are not is irrelevant as that’s the personal preference of the players and not indicative that the JP or MD would be ruined. One could also use your argument against the old monthly JP achievement as people could just get ported for all of them or for the gold badge one in SIlverwastes.
I totally disagree with pretty much everything you just said.
People don’t have ‘no desire to do JP’s and MD’s, there are plenty of people who enjoy that content. ‘you’ might not have a desire, but you don’t speak for everyone. IMO (and I’m sure others too) JP’s and MD’s are far more fun when actually completed rather than skipped, so ‘fairly empty’ is good, that’s what you want.
As for your edit, “Complete any 12 jumping puzzles, anywhere in the game, over the course of a month”, is vastly different to “Complete a JP in a very specific zone, on a specific day”.

I’d quite like to see an additional swap button added to the UI, next the the Elite (like weapon switch is next to auto-attack), which when clicked, switches the Weapon and Utility bar into a 10 slot action bar.
You’d hit the swap button to revert back to weapons and utilities, and the number keys would bind to the items in the appropriate slots. The action bar could be tied to the equivalent of an extra 10 slot bag (that everyone gets), so you can pick which 10 items you want available.

I suspect they didn’t spend time recoding the monthly to work with the new daily system. It is after all only sticking around this month, and then being retired. Reprogramming for the new dailies would have been a waste of developer time.

Also, they didn’t actually ever promise that everything would always be free, that’s an assumption your making based on GW1 and the fact that they have been releasing free content. GW1 the box specifically stated that promise, but GW2 doesn’t. Actually if you read the agreement that you accept when first logging into the client (you know the thing that most people just ignore), they specifically maintained the rights to switch to a subscription-based service in the future. That said, I don’t think they’ll ever actually do that, but they ‘could’.
GW1 promised that all future content would be free after the initial purchase?
So why on earth did I buy Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North separately? Why weren’t they free downloads, since I bought Prophecies? And most importantly how do I go about getting back the money I paid (apparently incorrectly)?
You know what I’m saying, don’t pretend you don’t. There’s no need to add bolded words that I didn’t say and claim that I did. Anyone with a GW1 box knows exactly which ‘promise’ I’m referring to.
GW1 promised no monthly fee on the box, (i.e. you will never have to pay a subscription). The point however, is that GW2 makes no promises whatsoever, anything we get free is not an ‘entitlement’ based on purchase.

Erm, out of interest, what build currently gives Ranger 3 leap finishers and 3 blast finishers?
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
You have gained a lot of content that you don’t need to pay extra for. It’s only the ability to launch season 2 storyline instances (and get the rewards from them) that are available for purchase if you missed out on getting them for free. You can still actually play the storyline instances if a friend has them unlocked, and the new maps, TA dungeon path, Fractals dungeon, additional Grandmaster Traits, healing skills, collections and other UI systems etc that have been added since launch are available to you without needing to purchase the storyline content.

If you want to run the same series of dungeon paths each day, this system hasn’t changed that. You can still play however you want, you just no longer get rewarded daily achievement points for it. You now have to actually make a choice if you want those AP’s. Do you spend 10-15 mins doing something else for a couple of quick dailies or do you choose to not do the daily meta and keep grinding out the same old content for gold and drops.
I think that the main disconnect in this thread is the word ‘choice’ and the suggestion that it’s been reduced. What’s been reduced are the number of choices that you wanted to complete, not the number of choices that are actually available to you. I suspect the real problem is that a subset of players preferred it when they didn’t actually have to make a choice.
They could run whatever content they wanted and would just get the daily without having to really chose which dailies that they wanted to complete. But that’s not more choice, that’s essentially avoiding choice. I’d say that the problem is that not that choice has been reduced, but that you don’t like the choices that are offered, and that you don’t like the new choices, because you’ve already made a specific choice to play some content exclusively.
A better word perhaps, would be variety. There is now too much variety required in order to achieve the daily, causing you to have to make a choice between spending time completing a daily, or repeating the content that you like to repeat. You can no longer essentially ignore the daily and get the points for free.
One idea that might improve the system for that subset of players, would be to add an additional four dailies that are more game-mode generic, and less choice oriented (e.g. the old Kills, UW Kills, Salvager, Condition Applier etc dailies). These four could count towards the daily meta achievement (and therefore the AP’s), but not include a reward chest. That way, players could repeat the same content over and over that they like to repeat, achieve the daily, and then ‘choose’ to go out of their way if they want the additional rewards.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
I think a lot of people would like this. I know that I personally have several un-salvageable WvW items sitting in my bank, hoping for the day that I can get the runes and sigils out of them.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
I’d really suggest that you play through the game at a slow pace. Trying to rush through the content just gets you to max level quicker ,and you miss out on the majority of the game. All you’re going to learn by levelling up in EoTM is how to run around with a group auto-attacking.
Another thing that you could do (other than going to the other racial starter zones), is to hang around for a bit in the areas that you can do. Chances are a dynamic event will start up and that’ll give you something to help level up. Once you get to level 10 you can do a load of personal story missions and that will then level you up to several levels beyond the zone you’re doing.

What this tells me is I still need a year or so per toon to get my ascended rings and accessories, as having to run at least 3 fractals in a row doesn’t work for me (and i hate the place). And that’s only if I force myself to choose the laurel reward rather than some other shiny.
When they finally make ascended stuff tradeable all those hoarders who run fractals will be able to sell those rings and stuff and will find a willing buyer.
You can get ascended rings and accessories via the living story achievements too
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
You get 29 laurels through the login rewards system and however many the laurel chest upon completion of 28 days gives.
You actually get 35 not 29.
Depending on how often you play, you’re probably going to get more laurels and luck, but it doesn’t look good for mystic coins though. TP value of them ought to increase.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Is kitten a swear word now?
four-hundred-and-fifty-five ‘looks’ like a filtered word when written in numbers. It’s slightly amusing that it’s the number for the laurels lol
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Can there be a simplified yes or no answer?
Not without knowing how often you play.
Do you do more that 12 dailies and get the monthly each month? If so then you wont lose laurels.
If you do less than 12 dailies but stil got the monthly each month, then you will lose a few laurels, but this would be made up for in other rewards.
If you didn’t always do the monthly, then chances are your going to be gaining laurels, regardless of how often you play.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
I know that there is already a couple of threads, but as a lot of you just read the first post, it made more sense to make a new one
So…
Are you going to get more laurels now or less?
Well, the first thing to point out is that it’s not as simple as making a direct correlation between the two systems.
But, on the assumption that there will be the choice of 20 laurels in the end chest (which makes sense based on the other laurel rewards), if you were playing about 12 days a month or more, and getting all the dailies and monthlies, then you wont be losing out on laurels in the new system, unless you make the choice to select a different reward.
You will also be gaining lot’s of other things, but just for those of you who really can’t see it, I’ve done some workings for you.
Don’t forget that you’ve got all the other rewards too, I’m just counting up the laurels here.
Playing 10 days a month, getting all the dailies and monthlies, over the first year
10 * 12 = 120 laurels from dailies PLUS 120 laurels from monthlies = 240 laurels per year
Logging in for 120 days over the course of a year
120 / 28 = 4.825 cycles or 4 cycles + 8 days
35 * 4 = 140 laurels from day 1-27 in cycle, plus 11 from those other 8 days = 148 over the first year
PLUS 4 x end cycle chests where you can claim additional laurels if you wish
Assuming 20 laurels in end chest : 4 × 20 = 80
Result
240 vs 228 (loss of 12 laurels over the first year)
Playing 15 days a month, getting all the dailies and monthlies, over the first year
15 * 12 = 180 laurels from dailies PLUS 120 laurels from monthlies = 300 laurels per year
Logging in for 180 days over the course of a year
180 / 28 = 6.428 cycles or 6 cycles + 12 days
35 * 6 = 210 laurels from day 1-27 in cycle, plus 13 from those other 12 days = 223 over the first year
PLUS 6 x end cycle chests where you can claim additional laurels if you wish
Assuming 20 laurels in end chest : 6 × 20 = 120
Result
300 vs 343 (gain of 43 laurels over the first year)
Playing 20 days a month, getting all the dailies and monthlies, over the first year
20 * 12 = 240 laurels from dailies PLUS 120 laurels from monthlies = 360 laurels per year
Logging in for 240 days over the course of a year
240 / 28 = 8.571 cycles or 8 cycles + 16 days
35 * 8 = 280 laurels from day 1-27 in cycle, plus 15 from those other 16 days = 295 over the first year
PLUS 8 x end cycle chests where you can claim additional laurels if you wish
Assuming 20 laurels in end chest : 8 × 20 = 160
Result
360 vs kitten (gain of 95 laurels over the first year)
Playing 25 days a month, getting all the dailies and monthlies, over the first year
25 * 12 = 300 laurels from dailies PLUS 120 laurels from monthlies = 420 laurels per year
Logging in for 300 days over the course of a year
300 / 28 = 10.714 cycles or 10 cycles + 20 days
35 * 10 = 350 laurels from day 1-27 in cycle, plus 15 from those other 20 days = 365 over the first year
PLUS 10 x end cycle chests where you can claim additional laurels if you wish
Assuming 20 laurels in end chest : 10 × 20 = 200
Result
420 vs 565 (gain of 145 laurels over the first year)
Playing every day, getting all the dailies and monthlies, over the first year
365 laurels from dailies PLUS 120 laurels from monthlies = 485 laurels per year
Logging in for 365 days over the course of a year
365 / 28 = 13.035 cycles or 13 cycles + 1 day
35 * 13 = four-hundred-and-fifty-five laurels from day 1-27 in cycle, plus 0 from those other 1 days = kitten over the first year
PLUS 13 x end cycle chests where you can claim additional laurels if you wish
Assuming 20 laurels in end chest : 13 × 20 = 260
Result
485 vs 715 (gain of 230 laurels over the first year)

(edited by Kaz.5430)
At this point the only thing left being speculated about is the number of laurels in the end chest. The fact that the new system keeps going until you’ve got to day 28 (rather than resetting at the end of the month regardless of your activity) is confirmed. The contents of the laurels in day 1 to 27 is confirmed.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Actually if what you say is true you get less since the monthly reward of 10 laurels is removed since previously it was between 38 and 41 laurels per month if you did dailies and monthly unless there’s some additional laurel reward I’ve missed.
You’d get 30 less, but that’s only assuming that you do not pick the laurel option from the 13 x day 28 chests you’ll now get over the same year.
If you do pick them, then assuming as little as 3 laurels in the end chest, then you’d get 9 more now.
Assuming a more realistic end chest number like 15 you’d get 165 more now, and if there are 20 in the end chest you’d get 230 more now.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
now you have kitten laurels per year
that happened to me too
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
20 days a month, achieving daily and monthly, vs new system – in a year
20 * 12 = 240 from dailies + 120 from monthlies = 360
240 days play = 8 full cycles PLUS day 12
8 * 35 = 280 + 13 = 293 plus 8 end chests
Assuming 15 in the end chest, then that’s another 120, so between 293 and 413 over the year depending on the end chest choices you make.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
You can’t compare them on a rolling basis because the number of laurels increases during the 28 cycle. If you just play 20 days a month then you wont get as many laurels some months, but will get a lot more on others.
There is nothing saying what the number of laurels in the end chest is yet.
But, assuming it is at least equal to the 15 you get on day 21, then that’s another possible 195 laurels over the year. Meaning that you theoretically can get 165 more laurels over the year in the new system. If there’s more than 15 in the day 28 chest that goes up.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
It doesn’t have to be consecutive days.
365 + (10*12) = 485 a year old way (every daily, every monthly)
35 * 13 = 400 + 55 (it says kitten if i type the actual number lol) a year new way, without picking them at all from the 13x day 28 chests you could get over the year.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
On day 2 you get 1 laurel. On day 7 you get 10. On day 21 you get 15 and on day 28 you can choose laurels among a couple of other things.
Plus 2 on day 9, 3 on day 16, and 4 on day 23.
35 Laurels over 27 days, plus additional laurels if you pick them from the choice box on day 28.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
It wasn’t that hard to read, especially for someone who started the post explaining that they are a non-native English speaker.
1. There is no real reason why living story could not be used to deliver new professions and races, it’s already provided a few new maps.
2. While the idea of being able to upload custom weapon and armour models into the game is interesting, the downside is that every custom model uploaded would add to the size of the DAT file, and that the game will start to have players running around in low quality items. Sure, some custom models will look good, but I suspect that the majority would be inferior. I honestly can’t see this happening.
3. I agree that being able to optionally bind your controls on a per class (or even per character) basis, would be great. That way I can use the extra buttons on my mouse to do different things, depending on which character I’m playing, without having to redo the bindings each time I swap characters.

A company of any size can use Kickstarter to raise funds, there’s no rule that says that there is a maximum size of the company. If that was the case then Reaper wouldn’t have made almost $7,000,000 over the course of two kickstarters to convert an existing range of metal figures to plastics.
However, the only two entities that could create a Kickstarter for Guildwars 2 are ArenaNet and NCSoft. Anyone else thinking that they could create one to ‘persuade’ development down a certain track are slightly deluded. The project might last a day or so and get a few pledges, but it would be soon closed down by Kickstarter as a project that might not lead anywhere, that’s assuming it was even allowed in the first place.
Someone tried it to ‘force’ a new season of Stargate Universe to be created with the original cast and crew, and it didn’t last long.

I’d be fine with this if it let us switch faction (Vigil, Whisper, Priory), yet keep access to all their items once unlocked.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), it’s things like Faction items, that will ensure if they ever ‘do’ allow you to replay storyline missions, they won’t allow you to make different choices.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
I don’t understand this recent trend in crowdfunding threads. If you actually tried it, it would go down like this.
Step 1 : Player creates kickstarter campaign telling ANet what to do, and how much money it will cost
Step 2 : Kickstarter deletes campaign because player cannot request funding on belhalf of ANet

December 16th is too late. This is getting stupid. First we only get one week to enjoy Halloween and now we only get Wintersday for one week? Every MMO I’m playing other than this one started winter holiday events on December 1.
Stop worrying about overwhelming players with dividing up content Devs! Give us what we want!
December 16th → December 23rd → December 30th → January 6th → January 13th
I make that 4 weeks of Wintersday not 1.

I’d rather see Legendary jewellery added as the items crafted by level 500 jewelers. There’s no point in crafting Ascended jewellery, as it’s already really easy to get hold of.
If level 500 jewellery crafting was all stat-switchable Legendary grade items, then you could base the various laurel recipes around a selection of effects and colours rather than stats.

I’m pretty sure you find that most dedicated non-EoTM WvW players would not consider an EoTM commander to be in the same league as a Borderlands/Stonemist commander.
Personally I think it would make more sense to keep the current system as it is, and extend on it. They could create a few different option tag shapes, and make each shape earned in a different way. One earned through defeating large world bosses, another through EoTM, another in main WvW etc.
That way the normal dorito would indicate a new commander, and the other shapes would indicate expertise in a particular field.
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
Another way the ‘auto-correct’ kicks in is if you don’t edit the boxes in the “right order”.
For example, if you want to sell something for 1g, 0s, 0c and the default sale price is 0g, 89s, 56c and the minimum price is 0g, 14s, 12c you can’t edit the boxes in any order other than “gold first”, because if you try any other order, it’ll reset before you finish.

I had a ‘similar’ bug during the ’Caithe’s Reconnaissance Squad’ instance. I say similar because it was a permanent graphical glitch that looked cool and lasted until I ended the instance.
I used the `Swoop` skill on my Ranger and during the process of the attack was downed and then instantly rallied. This caused the bird wings animation from `swoop` to crash, and for the rest of the instance my character had flapping birds wings. They even remained after doing another swoop attack.

Instead of merging BLTC and Crafting into General, would it be possible to merge `BLTC` into `Living World` and `Crafting` into `Players Helping Players`.
Crafting is described as “Find crafting help, suggestions and discussion” which is basically players helping players on a specific topic. It would also keep useful threads from vanishing in a vast moving forum.
`Living World` could change into a forum that discusses updates in general, rather than just discussing a specific type of update. e.g. Living World, Feature Packs and BLTC.
e.g.
Living World Discussion > Tyria lives! Discuss living world content here.

Also, the Players Helping Players forum needs a more concise description as the current one is shortened by the forum software.
The big useful economy thread could go to CDI.

Unless you play WvW it doesn’t really matter all that much, megaservers lets us all play together any way. The only thing that’ll keep you apart is if one of you picks NA and the other EU.

I personally think that `Players Helping Players` should be listed under support. Helping players `is` a form of support and I don’t think that people would be confused that it’s not ‘official’ support based on the forum title. Doing that would also place the forum nice and high.
I think that the CDI forum is going to end up the place to post suggestions. Suggestions are after all a form of collaborative development. Just player initiated rather than Anet initiated. Not allowing players to post suggestions in the forum would mean it’s not particularly collaborative, so why not just pre-empt it and call the forum `CDI & Suggestions`.
I also think that with all the threads moved into a single fast moving discussion forum, that forum is going to continue to become increasingly toxic. To help mitigate this, would it be possible to at least split into two forums `GW2 Discussion` and `GW2 Feedback`.
[edit] Actually, if you allowed suggestions in CDI, and split discussion, into discussion and feedback, you could probably merge Living World into general

would a utility skill in the elite slot count as an elite for runes that have an effect on elite skill use?

Grimm, there is a difference between being “allowed” to use ANet assets for personal use, and being “able” to use ANets assets for personal use. Reverse engineering is banned according to the very same document that allows use of the assets. It also required the use of third party programs, which are also against the ToS.
Therefore there is an element of confusion by being seemingly told that we ‘can’ 3d print assets for personal use, in a thread where the method of obtaining those assets is specifically been stated as ripping them from the DAT, and not sculpting them yourself.
The fact that a lot of people analyse the DAT file, and don’t get sued, does not change the fact that the process of analysing the DAT, extracting the model and then piecing the model back together again in order to ‘use the asset’, is not allowed according to the document posted. This process is completely different to hitting ‘PrtScn’ and uploading a file that the game creates for you to the internet.
Even AnniMaira’s suggestion in the post above, could be considered ‘Reverse Engineering’. Unless they officially state that reverse engineering assets for the express purpose of personal use 3d printing is ok, then 3d printing reverse engineered assets is NOT ok.
There is a difference in saying “Yes, you can 3d print models that are based on GW2 IP” and “Yes, you can 3d print models that you’ve extracted from the game”. The first, gives permission for a sculptor or modeller to create their own models ‘based on GW2 IP’ and print them, the second gives permission to reverse engineer assets.
There is also a difference between “Yes, you can pay a commercial 3d printing company to print GW2 assets” and “Yes, you can use your own 3d printer to print GW2 assets”. By paying a company to print the figures, the assets have been used commercially. You might not be making money, but the 3d printing company is.
Without a specific statement to the contrary, this thread has only established that it’s ok to sculpt yourself a digital model based on GW2 IP, and then use your own personal home 3d printer to create a copy for your own personal use.

Gaile, I’m confused as this thread is about 3d printing, rather than just using artwork.
Are you saying that as long as it’s not for commercial use, that it’s OK to reverse engineer character models and textures (either from the dat file or computer memory) in order to 3d print physical models (for non-commercial personal use)?

Ripping the models out of the DAT file would be against the Terms of Use, as you would be reverse engineering the content.
You agree that you will not alter, disassemble, decompile, reverse-engineer or in any other way modify the content
You’d need to sculpt the model yourself or hire a sculptor/modeller to do it for you.

It is possible to purchase ‘Guild Wars : Complete Edition’ which contains Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and GW:EN. However, you may well find it cheaper to purchase ‘Guild Wars Trilogy’ and get GW:EN separately.
Just make sure you’re getting a new version and not a second hand one. The box and disc are pretty much irrelevant, all that really matters is the code. A second hand code is as good as junk.
That being said, after looking at the NCSoft store, your best bet IMO would probably be to just get the Platinum Edition directly from ANet to start with. That gives you Prophecies and GW:EN and is plenty enough to get started on the HoM. Then keep your eyes open for sales on Factions and Nightfall.
