The people swamp watching or in shatters case turret polishing (collection part) are new and dont know theres pre-events or just cant be bothered and just want the yellow

In the case of the shatterer’s pre it is just a badly designed/implemented event. Having more than one person do the event is just going to slow it down. The number of parts that needs to be collected increases with more people but the amount of parts available to collect doesn’t.

The one for Straits of Devastation was mentioned in the Jan. 28 patch note. Brisban Wildlands and others got added with the patch that added Guild Missions. Several other maps got additional WP/POI as well.

In all fairness there should be a marked area so you know the boundaries. Just saying to not leave the area can mean a a small area or a big area. Could actually even mean "Lion’s Arch. Who really knows what that “area” is until you’ve gone to far. Could be a little more defined in my opinion.

That is certainly true and every other event in the game only requires being on the same map. You can even log off and come back later, as long as you are on when the event ends it will give the reward.

On the other hand … never go gambling with money you can’t afford to lose. If your bird came in 4th or 5th you would have lost the 50s regardless.

It looks like someone accidentally put Cavelier’s stats on Soldier’s for the axes. The Cavalier’s axes still have the correct stats.

Any plans to bring players back to Orr?

It would be nice if they did a living story with the maps of Orr… a sylvari “going green” project to reclaim the lands of Orr with Asuran technological – terraforming support. Players finally defeat the last of the Risen, (which get replaced by ‘baby dragons’ (think Skyrim or the movie, Reign of Fire) – soaring through the air, descending on players randomly – a place where dangerous drakes and their ilk become the new threat. The Pact is busy attempting to establish outposts and aerial defenses, but there’s only so much they can do.

And there could be a nice market for dragon eggs, dragon teeth, dragon scales, … you name it.

That would be nice but it is unlikely. They would have to split the map into two different versions otherwise it wouldn’t make any sense going through the personal story with the updated version.

I agree it never made sense which is why most people would rather camp the swamp than do the pre.

Is THAT why all the filthy slackers are always hanging out there and never lifting a finger …
One time I actually had to do all 3 of the pre events. There was a large group waiting at the spawn point. In the time it took me to run to each of the events nobody there bothered doing anything.

I’ve never had a problem getting back to SB but I use my elementalist for that event.

bad idea OP… this will only lead to people transferring to already stacked servers….

This has been mentioned several times in this thread but I don’t think that will be too big of a problem. Transfers are limited to once every 7 days. Since you don’t get the WvW bonus until the following match I would expect the same for any winning rewards. That would mean anyone who attempts to jump from server to server for every match will never get the reward. Everyone could attempt to jump to the #1 ranked server but eventually that is going to end up full and the new matchmaking system is going to make it difficult to determine what the next matchups will be.

The reward would also have to be something like 1800 gems or 50gold for it to be barely worth it. I doubt ANet is so crazy as to give everyone on a server 50 gold. Even if it is just for WvW participants(we’ll ignore the problem of how to determine who is a participant for now but ANet is pretty lenient about participation levels) they are going to require some huge gold sinks to offset all the gold(John will probably strangle Habib and Devon before that happens anyway).

Divinity’s Reach often doesn’t show a completion number. Besides you can’t 100% Divinity’s Reach without having the living story continue.

The POI is DR is already obtainable. The change went in 2 or 3 updates ago.

Same here, did it a few times, only had that bug like 3 weeks ago. Since then, haven’t seen it. And if they want us to kill Seamus, then put a chest when he surrenders or force the door to open only when he surrenders. It will still be a loss of time anyway.

Forcing the door to be closed until he surrenders would mean a dev is trying really hard to send the message “hi there, I’m an kitten ”. A legendary mob which gives no chest, no loot, no exp, absolutely nothing is not worth fighting. On top of all that it’s one “mechanic” is chained CC. The version in the butler route is barely worth it as it is.

The wings either do not drop from the coffers are extremely rare. Between myself and friends we’ve got 9 tickets and 0 wings from them. According to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_Coffer/drop_rate out of 38,000+ coffers there were 18 tickets and 0 wings(the data collecting on wiki is likely badly biased). Maybe the rich coffers have the wings.

The wings can drop as loot off random mob.

You can certainly stay on the same server. The main issue would be timezone. Shouldn’t be an issue on a busy server but on a less busy one you might be playing when everyone else is sleeping. I play on an EU server from the US(east coast) and I haven’t had much problem. Same for friend playing from west coast and asia. I didn’t hear any complaints from the person playing from Australia either and you should be much better off in Japan.

The Mystery Tonic from the Black Lion Chest can be crafted by a level 400 Artificer but it will cost you approximately 48 silvers worth of materials for batches of 5. There are two other Mystery Tonics which can also be crafted but not dropped from the chests. One turns you into random furniture items and the other turns you into various trees. These are all Account Bound.

Well lodestone are going to get easier to get, I would expect something along the lines of what they did for dust. So don’t say you were not warned when you get burned for buying up tons of lodestones.

Anet never specified how they are going to make this change. For all we know, they could make it so you can buy them with laurels/commendations etc. That wouldn’t result in much change would it?

Given the context of Colin’s response this is actually unlikely but you never know. The implementation of this lodestone source is somehow supposed to be more difficult than the ecto → dust change. If it’s just buying them with laurels/commendations then it should be very easy. Any laurel to lodestone exchange would have to be at 1:1 or better otherwise it would be fairly pointless. It would have to be even higher for commendations since those are even slower. If neither of those are true then the new way would be even slower than the old.

Do NOT pay 10s for a trait book at lv11.
Buy one off the Trading Post for around 6s instead, it’s the same thing.

At lv8 there isn’t really much need to care about gear, this holds true up to around 15-20 depending on how well you have adapted to using your character/skills. Various Personal Story steps will have gear as reward and you can buy some from karma vendors as well after completing hearts/events.

In-game rewards that don’t force me to go through some terrible grind that has no hint of progression. Grinding bosses in GW1 for green weapons was ok because you knew that X particular boss drops X weapon, so even if it takes you a bunch of attempts to get it, you’ve still got the path marked out for you, and the only roadblock is the boss’ loot table.

With the Mystic Forge, if I want to create any good looking weapon, and I’m not even talking about legendaries or precursors. Just normal Mystic Forge exotic weapons like Mjolnir, Infinite Light, or Jormag’s Breath, I’ve got to gather a TON of materials that don’t drop from anything in particular and have an abysmally low drop rate to begin with. Then I have to spend even more time getting skill points and money for the other components.

To me, that’s just as much of a turn-off as the grind for a legendary.

If onlythat was true, it would actually make getting lodestones easier. Unfortunately you are only correct about the rate. Specific types of lodestones DO drop from specific mobs so you MUST kill those to get them as drops. If they didn’t drop from anything in particular it would mean they could drop from anything making them a lot more common.

Was CM P1 recently changed? We killed frost and the dungeon didn’t end. Any advice?

Don’t skip seamus. What changed is that anet made sure you can’t skip a boss. Do so and you’ll break the instance. Even if you go back to kill him it won’t work, the instance is broken the moment you do the end boss without having killed seamus. (Hell I think doing the boss right after seamus is enough to break it if you didn’t kill seamus)

We’ve skipped Seamus about 3 times now and there has been no problem. The time where we did experience the same bug was when we failed to triggere the cutscene between Traffa and Frost at the end because Traffa was dead. We do kill pretty much everything else.

White stats on ascended itens?

They are not random. Each ascended item has a specific set of stats. The stats with white text is just the equivalent to the upgrade items in exotic/masterwork/fine items. There are several different fractal capacitors with the same name but different stats. Different recipes are used for each stat combination.

I’m not sure about guard but on my ele, because I have so much condi rem it was doable, along with a signet+ run speed and swiftness from attune swaps, with the kite around the tree thing. But that is no way that a dungeon should be done. It’s shameful.

This change sounds like someone REALLY loved the previous version of CoF p2 so they stuck it into another dungeon.

MF gear is best used when you know you will be killing a lot of things which should be relatively easy to kill. Using MF gear in dungeons is counter productive considering most mobs you fight there are silvers, champions, legendaries or mobs which simply give no loot(you can identify these because they don’t give any exp or sigil stacks). For the purpose of getting a precursor you will also want to stick to lv50+ maps except for the events with the bonus chest.

It only gets tricky if you start switching weapons and skills around in-between combats.
I normally run dagger/dagger but sometimes swap out for focus/sceptre or maybe staff. Plus I stack bloodlust on one dagger then swap out for a different dagger with sigil of intelligence when the stacks are fully up.
So I’m running round with a bag full of different weapons each with it’s own sigil.

In that case it is a good idea to make sure each weapon has a different inventory icon.

I have to admit i am one of the people encountering this problem.
Just tried it and we were not able to beat this boss.
If you attack the tree with single target ranged skills, all spiders get aggroed.
If you try to kill the spiders in front of the tree, you get an endless spawn of spiders.

Hopefully, TA is one of the dungeon getting an makeover. Since Morrigu really isn’t helpful at all here

I still think adding in (if, then) effects for condition builds would add alot more play with conditions in pve. As for spvp and WvW condition dmg is king.

I am not exactly sure what you mean if you mean more skill synergy as in if target is chilled then you also gain 5 stacks of might for 10 seconds. Then I can assure you that there are skills that work around a similar concept, e.g. necro sceptre 3 skill does dmg based on the number of conditions on target, you have a lot of moving conditions around from your allies to you then to the enemy and so on, the biggest problem in my eyes and probably the easiest to remedy without reworking a lot of skills / then balancing other skills and so on, is the condition cap in PvE, that is mainly dungeons and world group events that require some active participation (not just a big dragon who is basically a loot piñata that takes 5 minutes to smash…no pun on the current event)

There were quite a few more skills like that. I can’t really think of something similar in GW2.

Bought the game in the US, play on EU. Desolation is the only server I’ve ever selected in beta and at launch so there is no need to do any sort of ‘select a NA server then switch to an EU server’ silliness required.

Still this thread was about condition stacks which would help with some of these problems.

I can pretty much agree with the rest but increasing condition stacks is a bandaid solution to the design problems. That just increases damage. That doesn’t address things like mobs being immune to some/all conditions. Are there equivalent mobs which are also immune to direct damage? Yes but most if not all are also immune to conditions(or application of conditions) at the same time. Condition caps are irrelevant when your target is completely immune to conditions.

Edit: The other problems is that there are almost non-existent PvE content which makes use of things like boon removal/corruption. It seems they are moved a bit towards that with Southsun but on the other hand they have gone a bit overboard with giving them too many boons at the same time and somewhat trivialize boon removal when the enemy can spam the boons anyway. Then there is the problem with adding new “conditions” to the game which doesn’t count as conditions such as the karka hatchlings being attached to you. No way to convert those pseudo conditions on your allies.

My point is that while condition cap is a problem there are even bigger problems and in my opinion addressing those would bring greater improvements to the game.

You are supposed to stand where the claw would normally be standing in phase 2 before the start of phase 2.

There is also a second method but I am not sure if it still works. This is how I got mine. During phase 1 when the shield goes down and people run up to attack it then it flies off. After it flies off stay there behind the shield where the claw was standing. You could also try standing there after the last crystal is destroyed and before the start of phase 1.

In all cases getting the achievement will also get you killed.

Deep Wound should be similar to Vulnerability. There isn’t any need to track per player, it would be something that stacks in duration. Pretty much the same as how burning/vulnerability/poison work. In fact half the effect is shared with poison already. Certain encounters would need tweaking like Lupicus’ phase 1.

I’m no expert on this, but couldn’t you just increase the duration to compensate after 25 stacks?

I don’t remember the sequence but they’ve also mentioned that it is likely to stay. Possibly in one of the SotG. They might increase the cap. Although in that case they are likely to lower the damage per stack but your potential damage should still be higher. Similar example of this is when they lowered grenade damage when kits were made to be able to work with sigils.

I think bringing back the Deep Wound(decrease max HP by 20%, reduce healing by 20%) condition from GW1 might be more interesting. Something like if applying a theorectical 26th stack of bleed it applies a stack of Deep Wound instead.

Now for the flamey part I guess. So from my reading of your two posts, the necromancer class has absolutely NOTHING to offer besides dealing damage? I certainly don’t think that is true but the problem is that PvE content provides very few(almost none) opportunities for this. Then there are the stupid things like not being able to interact/res people in DS(haven’t tried in a while, maybe different now). Those sort of things do not require doing anything with condition caps but they are also harder to implement/balance. They also make things more interesting beyond “MOAR DDDDPPPSSS!!!!!”.

Question about holographic wings

If you transmute it on a white item it will become account bound. The quaggan backpack cover set gives you two items when you open it. The actual item to apply the skin and a white backpiece with no stat. That backpiece with no stat is what you need for transfering the wings to another character.

They are apparently called the Aetherblades. There will be new armor skins(looks like gem store) that have a steampunk theme. The June 25th update will make the rest of the Dragon Bash stuff available. This is probably the July 9th update when Dragon Bash ends.

After the last fiasco involving a bug to the ecto salvage rates, it is fair for someone to come here and simply ask others if they are experiencing the same poor luck as he is.

No need to bash the man, just acknowledge that you are not experiencing the decrease in the salvage rate as he has seen and move on.

No reason for anyone to salvage 1000+ rares just on a hunch that a bug may have been introduced. If a lot of people had started to claim that they were experiencing the same issue, then it would be a good time to start documenting.

The same people who always quickly chime in and say RNG is RNG are the ones who doubted the last salvage bug, the ones who doubted there was a loot drop bug that was eventually semi-confirmed.

The time actually seems to depend on how busy the map is. I was standing around in LA for around 50 minutes for the fireworks but that was in overflow and overflow either has a longer timer or non-existent timer for kicking people off.

My advice would be to choose between either power/precision or condition damage – you seem to have a mix of the two which means neither of them are really performing to their best.

I used to favour condition damage and used carrion armour and a sigil of corruption, but I found that whilst soloing in particular waiting for dot (damage over time) from conditions to kill something usually meant it could still do me a lot a damage whilst alive.

Recently I called on a guild member to help me revise my build and she advised focussing more on power/precision and crit – I changed my armour from carrion to knights, made a couple of trait adjustments and away I went. Whilst I won’t say that my original condition damage build was terrible or wrong (it was a lot of fun to play), I will admit it wasn’t the most effective for my playstyle and I’m glad I changed it around.

Here’s a link to pretty much what I’m using at the moment – it shows traits, armour and accessories to give you the fuller picture. This trait build is good for me as well because when I do want to go D/D I can quickly change a couple of trait selections to turn it into an aura-sharing build.

I would also add that the Arcana trait line does have some particular nice features that a lot of ele’s would swear by, in particular evasive arcana, and for staff users there is blasting staff which gives you a larger aoe.

That is a very expensive build …

The amulet, 1 ring, and 1 accessory is actually a masterwork so my actual stats are lower. Used that with rare armor/major runes for a long time as well.

Works out fine for me in WvW/PvE solo and group/dungeons. Bleeding from Eruption is okay but you need 6 stacks of bleeds(and enough condition damage) before it will out damage burning. There are obviously other issues to consider such as other people in the fight since burning does not stack in intensity.

  • Anecdotal evidence: “My friend has gotten 3 precursors, therefor RNG is broken.” doesn’t prove anything. It proves there is 1 lucky guy out there. I know people that have gotten 5 and 7 precursors from the Mystic Forge already. Both of them are super rich because they crafted the Legendaries and sold them. For this phenomena, I’d like to refer you to the point above.

Heh … there are people in real life who have won the lottery something like 7 times. Perhaps that is proof that “real life” is just a game running in some other entities’ computer with a badly implement RNG algorithm too.

I think the firework itself was alright. I’m just curious as to why they chose to limit it to the weekend. Having the firework run all through the Dragon Bash would have made it easier for players to get the achievment (especially those who are busy on weekends – yes those kind of people exist too). Kinda reminds me of the Canach “Dungeon”. It’s just strange that it has a special release apart from all the other stuff.

I’d like to know why it was necessary to stand around 30-50 minutes for this thing. I don’t know the exact time because after 30 minutes of waiting/chatting I just alt+tab to something else.
