I saw one person last week with a Fused longbow and another with a Fused staff, so they’re around even though rare.

And I have Mjolnir so I see it every day. ^^

Also frequently conjured for the southern octovine.

For the chain to start the defense event has to fail.

Drop rate for HoT currencies and keys

AB rewards are based on the outpost you are doing.

Southwatch awards keys. Doing every event in the southwatch chain will award ~70 keys.

Northwatch awards currency I think, the other 2 are a mix but I don’t know the specifics.

Overall VB is more liberal with the stuff though. However AB gives better rewards thanks to map hopping if you have the keys

Map hopping works for VB too but then you would have to memorize locations for the large cargo.

This would be the end of Power of the Mists buff. Most players don’t really notice the buff. Nor do they play WvW specifically for the buff, so it hasn’t served as an effective motivator for winning matches. It also tends to reward PvE players more than WvW players. The upside to removing the buff, for WvW players, is that it should help our case for further improving WvW rewards, because it’d be lowering the rewards entering the game from elsewhere.

Heh … also slightly fewer PvE players wondering why their HP is suddenly lowered.

They are all rewarded from events. The difference between VB and AB/TD is that all events in VB reward crowbars but only the meta events in AB/TD give keys while the others give the currency. The events giving keys is much more efficient.

Why can't we buy crowbars?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Khisanth.2948

I usually have at least a few crowbars on each character, so I never noticed this. But I did have a friend doing Verdant Brink and regaling me with comments about how he wasn’t getting any crowbars for doing events. We were both flabbergasted.

I don’t see a harm in adding it to the vendor stock, but I don’t see a big reason to rush it.

Night time VB uses the old system so he would only get them as the map progresses not for every event. Also you can’t just tag events and run off in HoT maps.

Thus there’s no downside if the price is set right. Just to clarify what you’re saying.

That’s barely an issue at all.

So long as the price is set high enough then I don’t see an issue. With how much currency that I have been getting though, it’d probably have to be between 30-50 per crowbar. Even then, I don’t see why it’s necessary when events reward so many crowbars now. Is there something that these airship crates drop that people need a lot of?

Airship oil is the only item exclusive to airship cargo as far as i am aware

That is not exclusive to airship cargo. The noxious pods in DS also have them.

Bringing back the Guild Promoter

Khisanth.2948

I know it is not the best comparison. But my time as a co-guild leader in Guild Wars 1, I had found that our small guild had a hard time holding on to members because of not having everything available to them. I would agree with you it should be able the community. But, in my past experience, I found that a lot of people wanted to come in to the guild with those upgrades already in place. I suspect partly because they didn’t want to spend their own gold for the guild.

What would be the point of acquiring guild members who do not want to contribute to the guild?

If you are going to buy your way through the collections the flowers are less of a concern than the geodes and maybe obsidian shards. The flowers can be bought but the geodes and obsidian are account bound or obtained with account bound currency. You’ll also need to need bandit crests.

Depending on how long you think it will take you to get around to it and how much WvW you play, you might want to buy the Gift of Battle now rather than later. Once the WvW reward track system transition out of the beta stage it will no longer be possible to simply buy the Gift of Battle. You will have to complete a WvW reward track for it instead.

There are at least two problems with that.

1) the forge’s interface is very bad for any sort of bulk operation
2) promoting through more than 1 tier is probably going to cost more/sell for less than just selling the parts

Your first point is not exactly valid. You don’t promote gemstones reliably in the forge. You use jewelcrafting to do this.

Your second point is correct. Promoting (transmogrifying) t5 to t6 costs roughly the same as if you buy it on the tp. But if you promote from say t3 to t6 It becomes more expensive again.

If you farm the materials yourself you are still stuck with the poor obtainability of which ever tier gemstone plus dust you need to promote them. So this obtainability is across the board really but popular stat items will drive prices. Not everyone would like to just buy everything off the trading post, some people actually like to gather these things themselves.

I can see why people would like the stats Maguuma Lillies and Freshwater Pearls give, especially for WvW. But the price on those are ridiculous.

So again, this is more than just about AmGems.

Hmm … DS was pretty nice for the lilies but I rarely see anyone else around when I am running around there gathering. There are also decent amounts of mussel but there are better places for those. Then again I probably wouldn’t be going there either if I didn’t need the crystalline ore and crystalline ore is nearly useless unless you are going for a HoT legendary or stuff from some of the guild vendors. The vendors are gated by guild hall upgrades so that isn’t a very helpful motivator either. There are also two jungle plants that always spawns in the center of Tarir.

Well the OP mentioned having tons of money so that shouldn’t be an issue although “tons” varies from person to person. Each of the HoT legendaries currently cost slightly above 3100g, less if using buy orders.

There are some things you might consider annoying but there aren’t any other time gates. That aside there aren’t anything you can really get out of the way ahead of time anyway since they won’t count until you have the collection unlocked.

The item from the gate of arah priest should be obtainable from the defense event as well. It can still be a long wait but at least it doesn’t require a failed event.

How many have seen the underwater legendaries used in combat?

Anyone?

Yeah. That’s what I thought.

Pretty late to reply, but i use my Hakuna-Matata (Kamohoali’i Kotaki) surprisingly on a regular basis. Doing Fracts, farming Orr, ect. Plus no one can deny the HUGE shark effect that comes out of no where when you crit is just plain SWEEEET!

But yes in regards to the OP’s question, Fused. To be more specific, the ones that are selling out in the BL. Fused Shield, can’t even buy anymore, Fused Mace, forgetabout it. Now though ive seen a fused weapon on someone maybe once or twice, its still the ones a see the absolute least. I’ve seen far more “Scythe Staff Skin”’s which, as of now, if the most expensive weapon skin available, than some of the fused skins. And the thing about them is they generally are very good looking skins! Just…the price of them… Why get a skin when you can buy a darn Legendary?

If you use it on a Revenant you get a shark on the #1 projectile.

So you need 2250 orbs, crest, etc. to craft 250 gemstones needed for a HoT legendary. Now this is not exactly a bad idea, in fact I like its a great idea but the issue is that there is NO reliable way of getting these said orbs, crests, etc. Anet NEEDS to increase the drop rate of these. One way they can do this is buy giving a guarenteed any 1-3 orb or crest from completing a dungeon path.

Promote mats, problem solved. ANet are well aware of of what needs to be added. They have an economist for this sort of thing. Currently most gems are worthless. By adding this it was given a use for all gems T5 and T6 more than others granted, but that’s why mat promotion is in the game.

There are at least two problems with that.

1) the forge’s interface is very bad for any sort of bulk operation

Crafting a precursor vs. buying a precursor

Khisanth.2948

Yea they never said it would be a cheaper way to obtain a precursor, just a sure fire way to get the specific one you want.

And buying the precursor you wanted off the TP isn’t a sure fire way to get it?

True but to some players farming gold to buy something off the TP is soooo boring

I guess chopping elder wood in malchor leap is very exciting for some people …

That would be true if the only way to get some wood was by chopping it. I don’t know about you but personally I don’t login just to chop wood and do some mining for whatever collection it is required….I also play the game and do the events. Whether it takes 9 months or less or more to acquire my precursor by chopping, mining and playing the game with my casual playtime is irrelevant. In the end I know I will get it whereas before it was only based on how much gold a player will be able to gain and we all know gold is not only used for legendary weapons to acquire

It is all equivalent to the gold anyway. Refusing to sell the materials to convert them into gold doesn’t really change that.

Add radius on placement of interactibles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

How large a radius are you thinking? I bet people who like to pop a TP merchant where they can reach it, the crafting vendor, and the crafting machine all at once might be unhappy if suddenly they had to close their crafting window to step far enough to reach their TP.

One workaround is to keybind Select Next Ally. Then you can cycle to the one you want to use.

I just use my left click. Occasionally that takes a bit more fidgeting to select the right thing but I don’t think it has ever completely blocked me even for things like two banners stacked on top of each other.

Khisanth.2948

Firstly, Dragon stand is awesome for XP, but i found getting xp isnt the problem as i have most its the stupid MP i having difficulty with as those maps are hard to navigate.

Yeah, in the end, XP isn’t the real bottleneck. You don’t even have to grind that much, to be honest. I’ve got all my HoT XP and I did the last levels by doing a couple of adventures and a single DS a day for a few days. Granted, I like both adventures and DS, but it’s still not that bad.

MP points are another thing altogether. Unlike XP, which I can get doing literally anything on any of the four maps, Mastery Points require a lot more directed effort. I’ve done the story, and have all the MPs from DS, all but one from VB (kitten you, Shooting Gallery gold), and 95% of AB. I’m still 16 short, which means a ton of time chasing achievements in Tangled Depths and hoping that I get better at the more challenging adventures.

The majority of the points from the story are from just going through it once not from the achievements.

Some things should not be dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

The JP dailies are good design for a second reason: always available and non-competitive. This is not true for zone completion or daily specific boss. I agree that those should be more generalized into regional completion or any boss. The latter for nixing the potential two-hour wait, the former for not requiring guardian loot-sticks and engi-turrets to get credit among the see of non-visible mobs that die the moment their Determined wears off.

Non-competitive is debatable. While it is good to get people to try the JPs. Making one a daily also causes some JPs to be much harder especially with all the inconsiderate kittens standing around with giants wings blocking the platforms.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I liked how in GW1 nearly all the mobs had a profession (same as the players) and could use nearly all the same skills we could.

Of course, being balanced for instanced content is completely different from open world content, but still, I kind of wish that concept was carried over to this game.

I completely agree with this. Eventually you get to know the different types of enemies and which ones need boon/hex removal, interrupts, etc. so it required an adjustment of skills. I miss hexes. Currently we have defiance bars which should make people adjust skills but in the end most people do nothing, and in many cases don’t need to.

Then there are the mastery points received by different toons for completing their race-specific story achievements or something, if I understand correctly. I haven’t explored the last avenue yet but that’s what I understand from reading about it on these forums.

That is also wrong. Personal Story based mastery points are also account bound. You get one per chapter. Once you have gotten the point for that chapter on any character you will no longer be able to get it again. However the in game UI will still display it like you can but that is just a shortcoming of how they implemented things.

XP for masteries being wasted

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Speaking of “masteries”—————-why does the system operate differently in Tyria than in HoT?? In HoT, mastery points can be gained character-by-character, thus allowing the account to master all of the tracks. In Tyria, once a “mastery point” has been gained, that’s it!!———-and that means there are NOT enough available “mastery points” to allow for the tracks to be completed————————-UNLESS the player (NOT the character(s)) elects to play “fractals” and/or “dungeons” and/or PvP. For TOO MANY of us, group play is NOT a viable option—- ok when there’s a crowd that wants to do the same thing—————not so good otherwise. This includes WvW by the way———too often one sees a “follow the leader” group blindly going from a start point to ?? without rhyme or reason.
I’d much prefer having “mastery points” collectible by the character (limited as it is in HoT for follow-on characters) in Tyria as well.

Ummmm no …….
Once an account has gotten a MP in either Core or HoT it can no longer be obtained by a different char. I know this for a fact since my other half was in HoT with a new char just this morning maybe about 2 hours ago and went to a new spot to her with a MP and a HP. Went to commune the MP and it said “nope you already have it” while the HP was still doable since the HP are per char.

No, that’s not “quite” right in HOT. Most of the “commune” points CAN be achieved and mastery points received by multiple characters on an account ( in HoT only). This action does NOT work in the Core (and it should). Agreed, “named” mastery points are achievable ONCE per account in both HoT and Core.

ANET, can you comment and clarify??

You seem to be confusing hero points and mastery points.
