I just did a P3 semi-pug yesterday. 3 including me are guildies and 2 are pugs. And it was one of the smoothest runs I had. ofc we all know what to do, even the 2 pugs, you know they are experienced.
My first ever P3 run was a PUG too, a complete PUG. But one of us was experienced and he explained everything before each boss. And that time we only took 1h15m iirc.
All you need is a patient leader and 4 patient listeners.

Couldnt we have actually killed him? As in the PCs? Nothing in the story feels like our axhievement.

Seriously, I will pick path 3 (Easiest path other than 2…) and everyone will wipe at the Wraith Lord Crusher :/ Either they pull a bunch of trash mobs with him, or they decide to go full kitten D/D elementalist or sit-in-one-place guardian and sit in the middle of the poison that is always around him. I kept telling them to stand back out of the poison and watch for the 1 shot move, but alas, idiots still insist on trying to facetank him. Then for the next part where there are idiotic amounts of mobs, someone always assumes we’re going to fight them and pulls them all making the skip impossible.
Thank god I havent gotten to Lupi with these groups…
I think it should be a general rule to bring a ranged weapon into Arah. Im a D/D elementalist is not an excuse for dying in 5 seconds on every boss.
Tldr; is there any strategy that can prevent this? Anything? I love Arah, but my guild never wants to run it… so that leaves me with PUGS.
Anvil Rock has a good server population.
I would go learn with Abaddon, he knows his stuff. Otherwise I would go with either a Guardian or an Elementalist.

I swear, nobody in my guild wants to run Arah, HoTW, SE, or CoE. And if anyone wants to run Arah, they wont let me in the group because I don’t have full Arah armor -_-
Some dungeons are just so neglected, it makes me sad.
Torture? Theyre free rares. Lag happens because of how many people are in the instance.
Dont complain about free rares, there is too much easy crap already. Heck, world bosses are already super easy.

Excuse you, but "few choices? There’s the CoF set, CoE set, AC set, Twighlight set, mole-people dungeon set, Arah set, set from the Hearts in Arah, set from WvWvW, set, set from the Personal Stories (Commando?), set from mid-level hearts, crafted sets (of which there’s at the very least 9 of them).

Well Necros can simply get rid of their minions… As for just pets in general? I like the Op’s idea, pets could also be made untargetable.
Some people in here don’t seem to get why CoF speedruns are so bad. Think about how many zerkers are speedrunning that dungeon in a day, buying stuff etc…

Ive noticed a lot of complaints from people who are not satisfied with how few choices we have. What better way to have a happy community than to let them get what they want in game?
I believe Gw1 had a contest for designing weapons… Couldnt we implement something like that? Or have some kind of system where new armor and weapons can be put into the game?
As of right now, we have NO armor variety. Light armor is pretty much skirt city, medium armor is all coats, and heavy is the only one with some variety… not to mention you completely neglected some races when making armor…
There are also too many greatsword skins as compared to skins for other weapons… Where are the cool staffs? Daggers? Maces? Warhorns? Focuses? AXES? Really only variations of a blade get cool skins

I think crafting the whole set at once would make them insanelly hard to get, so i’d go for piece to piece crafting, that way you can craft only the peieces you actually want for your mix and match set
We could only hope that Anet wouldnt make each piece ridiculously hard to get. They could easily make legendary sets 1000x times harder than getting a legendary weapon.

Definitely something for engineer’s, but steampunk engineer (the Asuran stuff is too space engineer for my tastes).
Heavy armor – please some realistic boots, one of the reasons I like the Heavy Plate karma set (see earlier post for link) is that it has a more realistic setup for functional heavy armor.
I dont wear heavy so I wouldnt know… what is bad about the current boots? Personally all boots seem kinda plain to me.

I like armor with special effects like the CoF light armor does for Charr. It gives them a flaming tail. My personal opinion? HoTW ice tail, Twilight arbor plant whip tail. That would be sick.

So what is a build that you consider fun on your Guardian? I was thinking of running Gs/Hammer, but I’ve also heard great things about Mace/Shield. Also what are some traits with some fun effects? Are spectral weapons a waste of a utility slot? What are your favorite utilites?
Last but not least, what race do you think has the best Guardian animations? I’m willing to run anything but a Sylvari for one (Can’t see it).

I’m looking to make an alt that I actually wont mind spending time on, I mean, Charr necro was fun, but I’m wanted in next to no end game content and not cery many armor sets look good on me.
From your experience what where the most fun? Was thinking about Ranger, Engi, or Guardian.
Hit 80 on my Necromancer and Im now at a loss for what to do on it. I already have full CoF armor, and two exotic weapons (Coldsnap, and Final Rest.). I have nothing to work for anymore, especially since their are no legendaries that really suit a necromancer. I would run fractals but every group I get is just plain stupid, like no brains whatsoever. “WHAT DO U MEAN I CANT MELEE JELLYFISH?” Like god why.
Is there anything I could do thats fun? Or should I just make an alt? And if I do make an alt should I roll a ranger or a guardian? (Looking for fun here, I dont care if elitist groups will take me or not.)
I think it was Robert Hrouda who specifically said he didn’t want to do this, but a good start would be to make the guys on the bridge chase you down and never rubberband, forcing you to kill them.

Wouldn’t it? It would make the amount of money flowing into the economy go down, hence gold would be worth more, hence lower costing precursors…

If you make that path harder the trading post would balance out so much, precursers would cost less, and these elitist groups would cease to exist.
My suggestion? Buff the slave driver, give him a knock back, and make the effigy heal faster than we dps it.

I personally saw it as just another silly thing in the game. I kinda would like to see some more serious content added (Also not really old enough to enjoy the SAB, the game its based off of is before my time. I like combat, I like risk. I don’t like the wannabe Zelda box.

I honestly love the legendary weapons in this game so far, and I hope they add more. I know its a huge grind, but you should never just be handed whatever you want. I really hope they add a greater variety soon with an expansion pack though. I think its kind of a shame how some weapons get serious skins and others get only silly ones. I think they need to make more varieties in what you can get for each weapon type. Anet favors Greatswords too much and it would be nice if shortbow, mace, pistol, and staff users got more serious choices. I’m not one of those fools who say that silly weaponry breaks their “immersion” (I’m sorry, that is dumb. Not everything must be super serious, you have to appeal to a wide variety of people. ). With that said, my favorite ones are Kudzu (Love bows, just really appealing to me visually.) and Frostfang.
Okay, yes I have an entire thread on how I hate Orr. Anyways, yeah the gates to Arah are guarded by an army of risen, I just want to go do my personal story and I can’t. I asked a bunch of people in map chat if they could help me push to it but they just said “Go do Maw or something Arah will never be fixed you stupid noob give it up.”
Is this how you want your last dungeon to be Anet? People have completely given up on it, and the last personal story quest.

Think you guys are confused on “anti-fun” and “hard”. Something “hard” is not necessarily" anti-fun". What makes something “anti-fun”? Well think about what you usually find fun, you cant honestly tell me it is sick amounts of cc and awful dead themes. Obviously the theme is what it is, but everything else… no.

Also, the risen saying the same stuff over and over is beyond annoying. The same few quotes are re used to a revolting degree and it literally makes me hate risen as a whole.
OP, you do sound as if you were referring to the first, older Orr, now gone since the putrifier was nerfed and there aren’t as many enemies on-screen It is very easy to get around Orr, or at least easier than it used to be. Putrifiers only (now) immobilize, for maybe 2-3 seconds. Spiders are only abundant in very few spots, and in those places, they don’t stop you from getting anywhere. The Risen Krait are a mostly underwater affair, and they can and will pull left and right, but it’s very uncommon. Since by now I know Orr very well, would you mind pointing out the spots in which you are “unable to get anywhere, ever”, because otherwise it does sound as if you are wildly exaggerating to make your point.
Orr used to be frustrating to me, and so did the quotes, but I learned to poke fun at them in time. “Death… good” “This one… kill” “Kill… everything” “Join us!” “Return… die!” “It begins!” “Here… over here!” “Everyone… come!” “I hunger…” “Misery…” “So… tired” “Rest…” “Zhaitan commands your death” “Return to Orr” etc. etc. Haha they are so silly they can be hilarious; that’s my attitude at this point. Since I have to kill a few for some nice drops, instead of finding things to hate, I just kind of anticipate listening to the same old quotes.
Hints for Orr-it is soloable, but more fun with two or more people. Sometimes we get so frustrated with the area that we blame everything and anything, but it becomes much more fun in a group effort (even if you are not in a party, just hanging out together-much like farming this area is much easier, simple, and fun in groups.)
I know the undead theme has been overdone forever in many fantasy games, but remember this is about an elder, zombie-like dragon-a Necromancer Dragon. Orr is all about that nemesis, and whether we like it or not, the theme is appropriate (I personally love the Shiverpeaks atmosphere, but Orr would be out of place looking too pretty, I admit.)
My two problems with the area are:
-Nobles need to be nerfed a bit. From being nuisances, now they can be too dangerous, especially when 3 or more are involved (or if they are veteran/champions, they can be too powerful in relation to other veteran/champion types.)
-Anchorage waypoint quest is semi-broken.
Save from that, I even miss the pulling Putrifier, because he used to knock himself down whenever the player character was pulled to himself, which I found funny.
I do understand that the area can be frustrating, but I just think it’s the nature of the beast.
I just hope Anet makes some more 80 zones. Some places with a less boring theme.
Really? The nature of the beast is to be brutally annoying? You want an example? On this one route to one of my personal stories, a risen gorillaa and a putrifier, right next to each other. Immobilized, then i got thrown into some newly spawned risen. I mean really? Why?
I despise Orr too. I couldn’t even tell you what it really looks like other than a big brown blur as I run from the eight mobs gang snaring me.
After expansion, when Orr is not “The End Game”, please reduce the number of spawns so I can actually appreciate the zone for a few seconds here and there.
And for the love of Lyssa no more undead.
Hopefully they actually make an expansion soon. None of this temporary content crap like the super kitten box.
I pretty much never see Engineers any where. I recently made a necro, and I’m going back to different starting areas and they are everywhere. I mean… everywhere. I was travelling in the Norn starting area and there were four of us in a “group” doing an event and we were all necros.
But I really never see Engineers, and next so far would be mesmers.

As someone who plays all classes and who runs tons of dungeons…they don’t have a bad rep. They really REALLY suck compared to the other options. The damage and utility either one puts out cannot compare with the damage/utility of any of the other classes. Why take an engineer when you can take a warrior? They do FAR more damage(likely several times more) and have just as much, if not more, utility.
Mesmers brings more utility, better damage, and supports the team better.
Thieves do FAR more damage and still have more useful utility.
Guardians…are you seeing my point yet?Engis and Necros(Rangers too) need buffs. Badly. You don’t need to read the forums or listen to people in-game to simply play and see that they are severely weak.
Im going to be one happy necro if they buff us. Its a skill issue mainly. But yes,We are a bit weaker. But not by a huge enough margin for people to start treating people badly for playing a class.
Le sigh… any class can do what you build it to do. Guardians are more useful on average though, even a kitten guardian will lay an aegis every once in a while.
Cof path one runs. Take no time at all with any group comp imaginable, almost one gold per run. Pug groups usually take about 8 minutes per run… you’re looking at nearly 20 gold a day.

What I want personally is for the mobs to have less cc. Make them a decent size, but dont put 10 enemies with snares in a group with more enemies that throw or knock down. Or just dont have too many of those in a group period. Im all good with Orr being dangerous and overrun with risen. It is however extremely unfun nit being able to get anywhere ever.

Well…basically every risen infested zone.
Undead, zombies, risen, name it….getting really boring after a while.
A lot of it is the theme for me too. Boring. I would like more pretty zones tbh.
It really kitten es me off though when two risen are put next to each other on a required path, one with a snare, and one with a throw. I never get kittening anywhere because of this kitten.
I usually don’t complain too much, but my god I hate this zone. So much. By Orr I mean every zone on that continent.
Why?:
Can’t walk two feet without getting attacked by five risen, not to mention that they shouldn’t have so many abilities to snare you and what not. It’s just kittening annoying getting around.
Every kittening thing wants to kill you. Even the water wants to kill you.
Risen get really annoying after a while, they’re obnoxious beyond belief. Seriously, can I walk 10 feet without hearing “Everyone… COME!” or “Death… good…” :/
Is there a zone you absolutely despise on this game? If so what is it?
All of them and any of them if the player is any good.
For PvE? Well there is a trait that lets you cast wells at 900 range if you like that. For WvW? I would take epidemic, especially if you like to go with a zerg. It is just more logical considering you’re always on the move and you can spam it.
( Ive seen Necros do well with spectral grasp in WvW. I have been pulled off walls of towers i was defending… just something to consider)

You do know the minions have actives right? Theyre not dps machines. They all provide some other utility other than just being there. For instance Shadow Fiend gives a blind, Bone Fiend immobilizes, Flesh Golem knocks them down.

The author of that guide (DreamyAbaddon) has helped me a lot recently, and once upon a time I got destroyed on this mission too. Literally all you have to do is play this game how it was designed. Damage/Control/Support. They are everything. You must be able to balance the three to play this game well.
This is how I did it on my Necromancer:
First, I summoned my blood fiend so I could have it do damage for me as well as support me by feeding me health it sucked away from it’s victims. Second, I strafed around the battlefield so I could have a better angle at the eye (You know so I don’t have to charge through the mob of risen?). Next, I focused all of my dps on the eye, yes all of it. While I was unloading on the eye, I was keeping a close eye on the mob of risen. Whenever they got close to me I used either my staff #5 skill “Reapers Mark” or my death shroud #4 skill “Doom” to fear them away from me while I was dpsing the eye. When the eye finally went invulnerable, I used Plague (My elite skill.) to dish out massive AOE condition damage to the risen mob that was left while still maintaining control by using my Plague skills to Bleed, blind and cripple them.
Chances are you aren’t a Necro, but this could still help you a lot. The key is to “kill” the eye as fast as possible, while not dying to the massive mob. So use all your damage skills on the eye, and whenever the mob really threatens you, fear/cripple/immobilize them or something. If they cant get to you, they cant harm you. But chances are they will get a few hits on you, so make sure to have support in something.
This guy is probably the best tutor I have ever had. Just four hours ago I was an awful Necro who kited everything and had no idea how to use certain abilities, now I am a decent thief who actually knows how to use her abilities in a fight.
You REALLY need to balance damage, control and support out. If you don’t balance those things out you are doing everyone and yourself a disservice. Its like an elementalist never switching out of the water element and calling themselves a “support”. When in fact you’re not supporting anyone by doing that, you’re leaving others to burn. By mastering balancing damage, control, and support everyone in a team brings everything to the table. There does not need to be a trinity in a group when you have the potential within all of you to embody every aspect of that trinity. By mastering these you also help yourself in solo play. I mean think about it, when have you ever seen people who focus directly on one aspect of the trinity succeed in solo play?
The key to this game is balancing damage, control, and support. All professions are designed to do them all. Great guide, and amazing teacher. +1
