I hope you will be filming this. I can’t help but I really want to see how this plays out.
I personally can’t decide between Bolt and Incinerator for my thief. Both seem really well made and just in general cool. My necromancer will be getting Howler.
So what legendary(s) are you going for?
How close are you to your goal?
Bolt or Incinerator? (Just help me out here K?)
How has your day been going?
Going to craft my thief to 80. With that in mind I am completely lost on how to build a thief. I plan on using SB and I can’t decide between D/P, S/P, and D/D. I have tried and enjoyed all the combinations so what is most viable overall? For PvE?
What gear do you get exactly if you want high burst, but to not die instantly upon being hit? Trinkets, signets, runes… Everything.
Just put me on the right track please experienced thieves. I too want to become a WvW menace and perform well in PvE.
Silly or not silly it does not matter.
For me it is:
Class elitism in any way shape or form. It is bullkitten when you kick someone from your group because thry aren’t playing a faceroll easy majorly op PvE class.
Map completion. So. Boring. I want a legendary but holy crap why are point of interests even a thing? “Oh what I’ve always wanted! To go around collecting itty bitty squares!”. NO.
Laziness when making armor. Especially for Charr.
Your turn, this may as well be titled the official venting thread xD
I bought 40 and got a ticket, and people in my guild are showing more success with the normal ones than the rich ones.
On another note, if you want a skin which one do you want? I’m thinking I either want the Gs for my ranger or the longbow for a warrior I will make soon.
It stands to reason that they will be worth a lot after this event correct?
Sorry but I kind of think this thread is ridiculous.
You’re operating under the assumption that three professions are better than all the rest, which simply isn’t true. There is nothing that inherently makes a Mesmer better than an elementalist, it all comes down to their build and play style and what they’re going up against.
This is asking people’s personal preferences. Not which is really better.
In your opinion what are they?
For me it is:
Heavy: Guardian – For the great damage while never dying or never letting other people die.
Medium: Thief – Mobile, best damage of the mediums and has a lot of utility skills.
Light: Mesmer – For obvious reasons.
What are they in your opinion?
Or gathering mats in the midst of all these nerfs to farming?
I’ve found myself farming instigators, hoarding karka shells for after the event, and just jumping to world events ;_;
I’ve made countless threads and I still can’t make up my mind. I already have a level 80 Necromancer but that playstyle really just does not work for me.
It doesen’t seem like anything in this game really works for me. I like mobility, smooth AA, range, AOE, and the ability to easily queue up for dungeons. The closest seem to be ranger and thief. But thief is best melee and ranger is hated by all.
So, any suggestions for what i should make myself play next? i really love this game, it’s just none of the professions seem good for me.
I want battleaxes for Necros.
I do want a new class though, nothing seems to work for me in this game.
If they where a specific profession? Just for anything?
(Looking to see if the CoF1 mentality is present everywhere or not.)
Btw, I was also thinking about my ranger. Should I keep my ranger, or should I delete it and just use my thief? I want at least one bow class, and the ranger looks like it has a very unful late game.
Via crafting. I already have an 80 Necro and a 20 something ranger (that I’m slowly working on.)
What is a fun, useful class that would be good to do this with? I hate the warrior, and my friend is already a mesmer and doesen’t want me to make one. So… Thief, Elementalist or Guardian? I guess all three aren’t really kicked from groups, and I love the look of medium and heavy armor, but I also love AOE.
Help me lol.
Edit: So basically out of the Thief, Elementalist and Guardian which one is more fun to play later? I don’t really care about easy leveling because I’m going to be leveling at crafting stations anyway.

How about no?
You already dominate every other class in dps, you’re the most polished class in the game. You have nothing to complain about.
At all? (Was gone for a few weeks, havent yet seen what the new patch offers.)
Never understood why Anet has not balanced each game mode individually. Or prioritized PvE. This game will never be an e sport so just balance us all for PvE.
Um. No to the balance question, and no to balancing everything around fighting a computer controlled loot biscuit(?!?).
Warriors, Mesmers, and Guards remain the best PvE classes by a far and large margin.
So it is better to balance around something that is never played? Oi.
The problem is that defense is useless in this game. Everyone just avoides the obvious red circles and one hit moves and they are okay. So naturally utility and damage are most important. My suggestion? Make stuff harder to dodge, make bossekitten harder, get rid of the condition cap, fix pets.
We don’t need to nerf the big three, we need to make a more healthy mix of classes viable.
I dunno about you, but we have queues in WvW quite frequently, and always in EB. I dunno how hundreds upon hundreds of people from each server signifies as dead…
If you were talking about arena PvP, yea that was dead before it even took off. Arena style PvP was done when WoW butchered it starting from Season 1.
And I completely agree with you, we don’t need to nerf those 3, the other classes should be brought up to the same damage and utility instead.
Yes I was mainly talking about PvP, not WvW.
Anet just needs to make balance seperate for each mode, that way everyone can be happy.
Condition damage is done on a per second basis. The more “seconds” the more damage you end up doing. So, not directly.
There is temple armor in Orr, or cultural weapons.
With what you said you should stay far away from Necros, and Elementalists. While they have damage and utility, they also have very few viable build options. Mesmers seem to be your best choice. Damage and utility through the roof and lots of build variety. Thief could be fun for you too, nice burst and very mobile with invis and shadow steps. Just keep away from p/p, it looks cool, but every other choice is superior.
Make game balance seperated from PvE, PvP, and WvW.

Yep, warrior, guardian, mesmer is the trinity at the moment. I’ve long advocated more work around balance in terms of the professions, but now it seems open world PvE balance is the major area out of order. The 4/30 patch made Orr a mess. Today, I ventured there and a champ risen wraith stayed up for two DE’s as the “heroic” folk there refused to stop feeding their life to him so he could despawn. It’s sad when the best strategy around combat is to stay out of combat.
Orr has major issues in my opinion:
a.) The champions guarding certain areas are kind of ridiculous. You should’t have to kill a champion to get a skill challenge. It is called a skill challenge for a reason.
b.) Respawn rates are too high.
c.) Waypoints are almost always contested.
d.) Because of the waypoints always being contested you have to trudge through a sea of risen that play freaking hot potato with your body.
e.) Loot is constantly nerfed which makes people not want to go to Orr.
My point? Orr is a hot mess and deserves a thread of its own lol.

Now I know “worthwhile” is subjective.
The content released should expand on already existing lore. I know you’re trying to make the world seem alive through these little events but they have absolutely nothing to do with the rich lore background.
The world is supposed to be focused on defeating the elder dragons right? So you could make events about how the races are working together to make strategies to kill them, or you could even go as far as to display racial tensions within the conflict itself.
The elder dragons should have personalities and dialogue too. After we kill each elder dragon they should adapt to strategies used in the past. They should be erratic and be updated regularly to keep them from becoming farm fests.
You could use this as a good opportunity to introduce new armor and weapon skins too. Each dragon could drop a specific armor or weapon skin set. Or you could get the skin as a reward for completing a set achievement on the dragon. Like: Climbed Kralkatorrik’s spine and struck the elder dragon at a vital point". Make it hard so its like a jumping puzzle in the air when they are flying.
Tldr; Events should be focused mainly on expanding off old lore and how that affects the “living world”. Bosses should be hard, and they should adapt. Weapon skins from these events should be skill based (awarded off getting achievements.) Cant do it? Too bad, no skin for you. Rng should stay out of events like this.
I apologize for any errors in the text in advance. Im on my android.
I know there are people who play league of legends with no use of their hands or arms. You’re awesome sir, never give up what you love no matter what.
Yup I had the exact same problem until I guested in Tarnished Coast and found what I needed.
Yeah, none of the snow covered objects are popping up for anybody. Please fix this.
I know there is a method to buying low and selling high. What is it? How do you tell when something is low and or high?
Btw thanks Dulfy, your site has helped me a lot haha.
Theyre taking care of it.
Guest for now.
Oh my god… that jet pack… and that quiver for my ranger… YES.
Any new weapons or armor sets coming out of this?
So… What is it like!?!? Is it PUG friendly or no? What are the rewards?
Tell me ;_;
Well I just hope its actually challenging, and has cool skins as a reward. Just wondering where all the frost stuff is. After all it is “Flame and Frost”.
Did you miss the ice storms and ice geysers in Wayfarer’s Foothills. Plenty of ice for everyone. lol
Apparently I did, but my point is most of it seemed focused on the flame part xD

I have no problem with dueling in areas that I don’t have to be in. No problem at all. Anet could make a dueling zone and I’d be fine with it. It’s dueling in places that I’m playing in PVe that’s the problem.
Anet has separated PvP from PvE for a reason. It’s part of what they’ve always done. They understand these groups of players don’t always play nice together.
Even if I could block dueling requests, there’d be some guy trying to duel me and when they saw I was blocking, they’d just start PMing me with nonsense, and then jumping around me, like an idiot.
I’m not 12 years old. I’m retired. I don’t play games to socialize with random people I don’t know. I play with my guild. I play with friends. I play with my wife. Sometimes, I play alone.
The last thing I need is someone who wants to force themselves into my down time.
I understand and agree with you on all accounts.
Yeah, Im young, but Im also the same way. I play with my guild, and my group of friends that I know in real life. I dont want annoying duel requests either, I mainly want this feature so I can play with my friends
Just want everyone to know that I dont want to infringe on anyones playing experience. PvP does not belong in PvE. I just really think this would add a lot to the game as a whole.
Yes to open world duel
all those that say no have ego issues and are being kittenly kitty.
Im the OP and I have to disagree.
A.) I don’t want 3 fps everywhere I go.
B.) It would look cluttered and nasty.
C.) Has nothing to do with the point of PvE.
I want dueling, dont get me wrong. But it should be a sectioned off place in the mists.
Because that would mean these forums would be filled with whines about profession X being OP because it keeps beating profession Y.
The game is balanced around 5v5 so it will never be a completely balance between profession X and Y, which people won’t accept.
What most people dont understand is that everything has a counter. Sure it is balanced around team play, but each profession is supposed to be able to self sustain and there are no real roles. It really would be a matter of skill.
Those threads should just be deleted on sight. People need to learn how to counter their enemy, everyone has a weakness. Not everything that beats you deserves a nerf.
Aren’t the custom PVP arenas meant to adress this?
Oh yes what ive always wanted! To be able to pay for something that the game should have as one if its main pvp features!
Im pretty confused at the community honestly. To my understanding this game is more wkill focused because better gear is easily obtainable? Then what is the issue with us testing out skill, and improving ourselves by facing each other 1v1?
I don’t see why Anet wouldn’t make a nice big patch out of this. They could add dueling arenas, and maybe even several different PvP modes that aren’t conquest…
The PvE people wouldnt have to worry wither. It wouldnt make the open world look cluttered because it wouls be in the mists. Also they could turn duel invites off.
I don’t understand the communities’opposition to this to be quite honest.
Anyone else have a thing about playing them?
There is just something great about playing a Necro/Ranger/Engi and showing up a bunch of people who think you’re trash.

God, how dumb are you guys? You dont see anything wrong with there being one viable gear type?
They can’t increase the condition cap because it costs them too much bandwidth, which is really expensive. This was said by a dev.
Second, if nerfing zerker gear, aka nerfing warriors is kitten considering how this class is one of the weakest classes in WvW.
tl’dr this thread is basically non-warriors crying that warriors shouldn’t do that much damage even tho that’s what they’re built around.
Then put on a damage/crit cap. Balance would be nice, condition damage isnt supposed to be so much worse than normal damage. Its just supposed to be a different method of delivery.
This thread isnt even just about warriors. Its about one type of damage and gear completely outshining everything else.
Btw the argument that we’re whining and that we have no argument because warriors are ment for obscene damage… WHAT? Then what the kitten is every other class here for? Also what about condition damage? It should be equal to flat damage and crits. It just doesent make sense, too bad Anet, you dont get to kitten everyone just to save money.
A very egotistic thread, considering that many people prefer things the way they are now.
OP, you are in a minority that asks for a change.
Here are my solutions for you:
- Create your own zerk warrior and start farming.
- Play with buddies who share similar ideals in running dungeons.
- Don’t do dungeons.I hope you realize that many people who never or will bother looking at these forums (posters here are below 1% of whole community) will be very very aggravated with the outcome of a “nerf” to zerkers.
This thread isnt about dungeons, it is about the fact that one type of armor completely outshines every other set. And that we who use condition damage are completely screwed.
Sure I hate the speedfarmers ruining the in game economy too, but that is not this threads purpose.
Is there a zerker problem?
Its the only armor type that boosts the stats that have no cap on them so much, therefore its the most effective. I consider that a problem. Think about classes that work horribly with a power build and would do better with a condition build (Necro) or just think about the people who don’t want to be pigeonholed into a power build because everything else doesent even come close to the stats zerker gear brings.
As long as condition damage has a cap on it, that gear will be bad. Yes I do in fact consider it an issue that there is only one viable armor type in this game.
1.) Take the cap off of how many conditions you can stack.
2.) Put a cap on crits or flat damage.
I love bows, I just do. I want to play a class who can utilize a bow.
Right now those classes are: Ranger, Thief, and Warrior.
Could you guys help me pick which one of these would be the best for me? I would most likely run one ranged weapon and one melee.
I don’t like to faceroll content: I enjoy a challenge, and I like interesting mechanics.
I like having good range: Obvious from wanting to use a bow, even when for me its mainly because of the look.
At least decent mobility: I currently main a Necro, I’ve had enough of not being able to move.
Good dps: In whatever form it may take IE: Burst or sustained.
Halp.
