Weapons don’t count when you have a tooltip equipped, so I doubt a shield would be an exception.

I think any kit completely replaces your weapons, shield and all.

The issue is that bunkers need to die 1v1.

Really? And who the kitten are you to say who should lose a 1v1?

I think the point is that ALL need to die 1v1… he’s simply including bunkers in that balance.
I doubt he is saying a bunker should die in every actual 1v1 fight…

I agree, Kim, but the “get it out the door and fix it later” is pretty much industry standard now. Happened with Mass Effect, Skyrim, TSW, SWTOR… maybe not as bad as this, but still.

Short of getting all gamers to boycott the entire industry until this changes, we’re just going to have to grin and bear it.

Blizzard and Anet played a game here, or rather their marketing devisions did.
MoP and GW2 were set up to like chess pieces.
In the end both were rushed.

It’s no coincidence MoP came out just when the novelty of GW2 was bound to wear of a bit.

This is relevant for this topic in the an important way:
little things like this cloak got dropped in the race of both stalling and rushing.

Since this appears to be a team game, I would like to ask the following:

- apparantly many agree on the fact that a bunker guardian takes 2 to take him down.
For the reason of this not being a 1v1 game I guess.

- so if it’s really a team game, we must assume that guardian has at least 1 helper too.

- so… if those 2 come to kill the guardian, and he has 1 helper.

will the bunker die?

Rise, I’m quoting you but please don’t see my reaction as an attack on you personally. I just feel like I should react here.

You mention you see many posts about this very lack of more incentives in the game, which is true: there are many.
Well, I also see many posts stating how wonderfully bliss this game is. I see ‘thank you’ posts for bringing out bug fixing patches, and many more like that.

Both types of posts have a valid reason to be here.
Both types of posts show the concerns of the community playing this game.

If you don’t want to hear another post about one sides’ grieves, than please also tell the other side to stop posting.
We also know it by now: people are enjoying the game, no need for another post about it…

Last night I did about 15 maps or so I think, I saw exactly ONE person say something at a certain point. That’s it… just that one.

Now it’s very true that if you start the communication yourself, others often follow. But in general the /team chat is completely silent.

Cosmetic rewards are ok for me, allthough other things could be added without breaking balance.

What astounishes me is the fact I expected tons of variations in pvp challenges in this game.

Granted: WvW is epic… which also makes it a pure zerg and spam fest.
But ok, it’s big and different and can be real fun.

The maps for point captures are quite well made, real nice how the points are close, yet the terrain is very creative int these relative small area’s.
I really really like those maps.

But it does start to bore me already that it’s always the same game, over and over and over again…
No capture the flag or anything else, just that one game.

On top of this the structure of these maps do seem to reward zerging more than anything. Almost every fight is imbalanced in numbers. But this of course, is rather typical of these kinds of battles.
Nothing the developpers can do about that one.

What they could do is create battles with different objectives, not just whoever has the most players at any given point…

There you have 2 factors that ruin any pvp balance for me, but that’s personal of course.

WoW might have a smart respawn system, which it does. but it doesn’t have downscaling obviously.
So I don’t really see the relevance here, aside the ‘high level farmed my mobs’ bit.

As a WoW player myself, I actually love the downscaling because in WoW there is no zone that I couldn’t one-shot everything in my raid gear. MoP won’t change that bit (once you can get raid gear obviously).

Personally I would love WoW to have downscaling too, but that is irrelevant to this thread as well

My point was: maybe they shouldn’t have…
This would make them survive the burst but not the steady damage.

Retaliation is a problem by itself. It’s weird they got that too.

To me retaliation seems like the perfect defense for a more damage orientated build.
Like: burst me down and it will hurt you. Wait till I wasted it and I’m dead meat… that sort of reasoning.

I hate to be restricted to the max level zones alone.
It’s so boring to me to one-shot everything in sight.

Dashel, if a burst can get the bunker down, and the bunker is a bunbker because he can live through burst.
Where does the balancing work on than?

I see what you’re saying, but it has to be either the steady dps, or the burst getting a bunker down.

Isn’t the real issue the usual combo of having too much cc while also being able to unleash that ammount of burst?

Not saying warriors (as example) have that cc. But if another player does the cc’ing, and than the glass canon does the bursting (quickness here) than it doesn’t matter if the opponents have 2 as well. Something is bound to drop apparantly.

And if one class has both the cc and the burst ready… than it’s defenitely going to be a problem.

my own view on this is: remove the burst.
But as a consequence a lot of the melee needs to be revamped somewhat I guess. They do have limited uptime.
This said: this game at least offers every melee to have viable ranged options, kiting only works so far in pvp here.

In my fresh look on GW2, I’m very very new to the game, I think pvp is already fast paced and chaotic enough. it doesn’t need speed burst like quickness added to it.

But yes: that would ask for some rebalancing of those relying on short uptime.

Last evening I had this idea of getting 2 organised groups in an existing battle map, and all stand together and have 1vs 1 or 2v2 etc battles just in that big area.
Anything goes, but no one else interferes. Run where you want, LoS, do whatever you want but it’s always you vs the other. Be it at whatever nr the particular duel is set out (can be up to 8vs 8 I guess).

Just started with pvp, think I got my first rabbit box last night, so that should tell you how new I am to this.
That box contained a bow my engineer can’t use by the way, which I find very silly as a reward.

When I bought GW2 (after playing both GW1 for several expansions years ago and also a lot of woW) I was looking forward to the pvp variety it should have.

For starters I went to that npc that let’s you join spvp maps based on my experience. It actually put me in a few fights where it was me against 1 other That’s how low my pvp level must have been .
Those maps are all capture points maps. Nice maps by the way, really like the ships and roads and walls, and houses and ruins and all of that. Creative designing here.

But… all capture point maps, right?

I also tried to get in WvW which took ages and than basically my screen exploded.
I’ll certainly do that again, looks like fun but I’ll try to follow small groups next time, that big zerg fest isn’t all that strategic. Or I should just specc grenadier and throw away, all day…

Is this about it?
These 2 variantions I mean: WvW and capture points?

Tournaments aren’t for me yet, obviously, but that’s basically the same capture point maps but than with fixed groups against fixed groups, right?

What am I missing here?
Is there more I can do for pvp?
As I said: I like the maps and I think WvW can be epic or boring at the same time, but I’m wondering what else is there?

Or do you guys simply shine at these 2 things and find them entertaining enough by themselves?

If you are having to literally run away from mobs, you are very bad at this game. I am sorry if this sounds like I am attacking you with this post. This is not my intention! I am just tired of reading people seriously cry about it being TOO HARD to solo?

It is as if you expect everything except events to be solo play. some players like to group up.

Every single class has utilities and a dodge. these used in combonation can get you anywhere in the game alone. Learn.

I don’t want to run away from the mobs, I want to kill them.
That’s where respawn rate kicks in: I need the time to clear. Has nothing to do with learning to play.

Also this: it’s not because some players like to group up, that ALl players should be forced to group up all the time…
It’s a challenge to do go out and do things all alone. Like taking on veterans and getting skill points. Or just wandering around all by myself and tackling whatever I need to tackle.

It’s not because it’s a multiplayer game that it shouldn’t be doable alone, to a large extend.
So your point makes absolutely no sense to me.

If this game was only intended to be played in group, it should have said so on the box.
But i don’t think it is. I just think you’re desperately looking for arguments just for the sake of finding one to defend the game.

If anything the respawn rates should be raised, I mean as long as I’m going to have to compete with bots that aren’t burdened by having to actually travel between the mobs then I think it’s only fair so that I get a shot at tagging some loot myself.

botting seems to be a real big issue here, so I partially understand what you’re saying.
But I really don’t think the respawn rates are the answer to that. It’s just ruining the fun for players out in the world alone.

I’m not talking events, but if I encounter this one veteran for example, I don’t want to be forced to call for help just to tackle him. On the contrary: it is fun for me to go at him alone!
All I ask is: give me the time to clear the mobs around him first, without them jumping in my back the minute after I killed them…

Botting needs other measures, of which I only really believe in one, the most expensive one for a game designer:
manually removing them…

Why Legendary Weapons looks like that?

What I read from the OP is that it’s less a matter of liking them or not. Some do, some don’t.
But it’s all a matter of choice.

If you are going through the trouble for a legendary, than some more choices could be nice.
It’s not about their stats after all, looks are their main selling point.

Let’s hope more models are introduced in the future.
Personally I don’t understand either why such items based on looks, have only so limited options in that… for now.

For me looks are very important in a game. Transmogging got me back into Wow after a break, just that… And I quite like a lot of the customisable features in GW2.
The key word for me here is: diversity.
Customisation of characters should not lead to all looking the same.
Legendaries tend to do that since there aren’t many models.

Alice and Garo: where are your suggestions than?
What do you bring to this thread?

This is not meant as an insult, it’s a friendly question to stay on topic.

Snip

To be honest a lot of the threads I catch you in are about diminishing returns. Full of hype, misinformation, subjective opinion and sensationalism.

These are not conducive methods of giving constructive criticism. They are designed to organise rabble rousing and cause the misinformed to get up in arms about things they don’t understand to try and bully a change through.

This rhetoric is not positive for the community and will not actually achieve anything other than informing the misinformed with negative information.

Being critical is not the same as trying to cause an uproar.
If it is to you, than you’re the one missing something here, not me.

I was in some DR threads, but not to do the things you accuse me of.
My posts are never aimed at being sensational.
The info I gave in the posts here are my own experience at best, so I’m not giving misinformation. I am giving anecdotical information, which i never deny.

Subjective opinion is about the lamest thing to accuse someone of.
What the heck do you think your opinion about me is?
You’re extremely biased and it’s impossible you read my posts with even the slightest hint of being fair to what I wrote.

I’m a very critical person and I see the forums to do just that: provide feedback about the game I bought and like.
If you can’t stand others being critical, just yourself it seems, than don’t bother me with that please.
Your opinion about me is wrong and insulting.

I tend to ignore them already, and that’s coming from a new player who only has about 12 in the bank and opened… two!

They’re a gold selling advertise in my eyes, but one coming from the game creators themselves
