1-shot kills have been condemned since the beginning (Dungeons).
no-one likes being one-shotted.
It’s not a smart way to create challenge.Hence, in my view,
Anet has failed to realise that 1-shot kills aren’t fun, and has failed to create an inspired challenge mechanic.
I think that 1 shot mechanics are challenging it keeps you focused and on your toes.
Anything else would either be way too easy or downright annoying, there is a fine line between challenging and annoying and i doubt they could ever truly find that perfect line and if they do it would be a happy accident, I for one can’t think of what they could do to replace it without making it so.
Thank you OP for giving us the numbers, but most of us figured this out just by first impressions almost a year ago.
Sadly some people will keep the argument of the validity of zerker gear alive for a long time to come.. (Yes you can run anything which shows either how skilled you are or how easy the game is, your pick. But its common knowledge that zerker is the best and no one is stopping anyone from buying a set..)
I have two things that in my opinion are in great need of attention. One is super easy to address and the other will be scoffed at but it a really big issue.
1. Looting
Can we please get this game into the 90’s and just not have “loot bags”? In WVW I leave so many bags I wish that there was an achievement for how many times that I have been screwed out of opening them since I died before opening them. This is just asinine. Auto loot should be truly AUTOLOOT. No buttons pressed.2. Warrior Banners
In groups in PVE and WVW these things are easily the most annoying things to pick up since everyone is SO AFRAID of missing the tiny loot bags (see item 1) that they spam F in hopes that they do not miss a loot bag. Unfortunately, Warriors don’t really care where they leave their garbage for others to pick up. Make these things “ALT F” or something to pick up please.
Why not just make your auto loot Shift+F picking up banners and junk is then solved.
And each time you see XP pop up over your head spam auto loot, no more missed bags.
It’s amazing in WvW/PvE solely for tags.
Pretty much this: 3 1 1 1 1 ect F1, heal f1 3, berserker stance F1 3.
Profit.
Or simply do like every other sane game with a third person camera does it, make the offending piece of terrain vanish (or at least transparent). But i guess that would be offensive to the esthetics of the map design…
Been wanting this for far too long.
I did it on my warrior and posted a thread in the warrior sub forum that might help some people out or at least give them some fresh ideas.
My biggest complaint is as a max sized Norn the camera (as usual) is awful, and whats up with us still not being able to call a target while solo?…
That’s what make the fight interesting. If you could just face tank autoattack, what’s the point.
It doesn’t make the fight challenging when it’s all luck based. You need luck so she doesn’t place the light portals on the very edge of the arena, making it harder to walk visions into them.
You need luck on where she decides to place the aoe, either forcing too many dodges in a row or allowing for endurance to regen. You need luck where the visions spawn, so you don’t constantly get mobbed as not only do you need to kite this ridiculous mob of visions while the boss is wailing on you and you got a 2 min limit on beating her.
Yup, you totally need luck.
Except for the fact it all follows a very strict pattern.
^Truth It is a pattern. If you keep TRYING you’ll notice it.
It would really be nice if it didn’t pop up each time you enter an overflow..
I’m sure there is a cap on energy regeneration, I just went full overkill on the chance that there may not be. It did seem to help although its hard to tell when swapping to sigil of energy so often during the fight.
Yeah I was really hoping for a slider, that way I can just straight up turn it off/lowest.
I can’t guarantee you will finish it, but here are some useful tips and how I did it moments ago.
Traits:
15, III
10, II
30, II,IV,IX (IV is in case you get a lucky rally off an orb, it can/has happened)
0
15, III
Sword/Warhorn and Longbow.
Force on sword Energy on warhorn
Had Rage on the bow (I used my MF bow
)
Food: Bowl of Orrian Truffles and Meat Stew, and Potent Master Maintenance Oils.
Gear: I used full zerker.
Utilities: Healing Signet, Signet of Stamina, Fear Me!, Endure Pain, and Signet of Rage.
Start phase 1 with sword/warhorn quickly merc the pulling orb (melee 1 shots it, always try to kill these as soon as they pop up) Kite the darkness clones to the white cyclones and toss the light at the main one, the second cyclone can be tricky (yes it is a pattern more on this soon) its usually right up against the wall you can kite/stand on it while fighting with the terribad camera and as soon as you see one get turned into light use Fear Me! to safely grab/toss it. (You can also fear them INTO it with a bit of positioning.) The 3rd is easy its near the middle of the room just stand behind it.
(If you over dodged or something use endure pain to save you from AoE, keep in mind endure pain WILL NOT save you from the 1 touch killers.)
2nd phase, as soon as you toss that 3rd light look for the safe spot. There will be 1/4 of the arena edge not covered in AoE find it, once you do keep moving clockwise and you’ll always be on that safe spot (sometimes you may have to dodge to the safe spot, just count 1 2 dodge!) use the longbows F1 and 3 as much as possible even use F1 with 1 charge just to remove cripple or weakness because of cleansing ire BUT DON’T STOP RUNNING AROUND CLOCKWISE! unless its for a secure pop shot.
And of course if you’re out of energy swap to sword/warhorn for 50% and a life saving dodge followed immediately with 4-5.
Took me about 20 tries (had her under 5% a lot..) right when I was about to rage quit I got it, do it enough and you’ll see the patterns now that you know they’re there.
Hope this helps.
I agree on the odd camera, it really needs to be able to go through walls or fixed above or something.
I’ve watched videos of other races doing the arena and it’s not nearly as bad as it is for them as it is for Charr :<
Same problem here, max sized toons are consistently getting screwed over.
WTB Race change!!!
I’m nowhere near casual and I voted for Kiel lol.
I’m happy the $ to Gems to Gold folks are upset their Gems being increased in value didn’t quite happen. (BL keys 50% off with the addition of the new scrap reward had “buyer” written all over it :P)
Disclaimer—→ Not saying all that voted for Evon did it for the above reason, but I personally know quite a few that did.
This game better not go F2P… Why do you care about their revenue? As players all we should care about is the content
Imagine all the crazies that would flood this game if it was F2P… Sweet Jesus
well, what kind of craziness would bother you from an increase in playerbase?
The trolls would come about in drones. When Rift went F2P not long ago the map chat blew up with random bs from every direction, a lot of people would download it just to have fun in chat. (Resulting in turning off chats to clear spam)
Let’s keep in mind overflows are already kinda bad (World boss’) on some servers and the WvW skill lag would become far more frequent with a F2P crowd and the whole “leave your community and transfer to a lower server fix” wouldn’t even be probable.

Its obvious that the better damage is the warrior.
And its obvious that the better survivability is the guardian.
Both are good.
I still wonder why they are doing more socializing on other sites than their own. I don’t frequent Facebook or Reddit and even though I’m on these forums at least 5 days out of the week, I have yet to hear of any news here first.
Quoted for truth.
Stay out of hot join so you don’t pick up bad habits.
I see soloQ being the new hot join at least until its shine wears off.
I’d love to see a “peaceful Orr”.. kind of like the difference between Adult and Child Link in OoT… Could have the same chains where some Asura experiment went wrong and BOOM evil Orr is trying to take over.. talk about room for expansion on both Living Story and Personal Story, not to mention plenty of new events to work on.
Yeah it would be nice if we could have something similar to fractals, except that it’s not a dungeon but a whole map of an alternate reality that we can revisit.
So we could actually see how Orr was before it got flooded, with all the temples and high structures.
Didn’t even think of that.. That would actually be really frigging cool… I’m not a lore guy by any means but I’d be very interested in reading about the “Fall of Orr” if I was able to play through the “Old Orr”.
If I could vote for new zones, it would be “good versions” of SoD, ML and CS. Being able to progress through those zones preventing the Fall of Orr via events would be really cool.
If the rewards are worth it and the events don’t break, I don’t think this would fracture the player base, it would bring us together to both bring the current Orr to a state of no corruption and prevent the “Old Orr” from being overrun by said corruption. Not to mention “good” version of all the Temple Armors with God symbols could be possible.
^This is the kind of “living story” I (maybe most of us?) would actually care for, not carnival after carnival.
It would be cool if at the end of that we got to see the Charr practically raze Orr before Vizier Khilbron sunk it to the bottom of the ocean and see the events that took place first hand.
With the Asura technology thats in the game I don’t see why this can’t happen.
(edited by KingClash.3186)
I’d guess the loot bags from legendaries could be nice, but fractals players need some sort of income, especially considering it’s harder than any other content currently ingame. does the upcoming dungeon change include fractals? currently people get around 80s a full 48 run, which I don’t think does fractals justice.
maybe something like 30s at lvl1/fractal(and then call it first/second/third fractal for the day and lock further rewards that day) scaling slightly exponentially to 2g/fractal at 48(so let’s say it would give 90s/fractal at 28). I’d prefer hard to obtain skins over the current system anet is planning to introduce, just because it is flexible – if the dungeon is hard, demand will be higher because people unable to complete it will still want the skins, thus autocorrecting itself somewhat(this worked well in gw1), but leaving fractals out of a change like this doesn’t really make sense to me.
discuss!
80s is what I would get doing a 4 minute 30 seconds CoF run with 65% gold find (I know its getting nerfed
) FotM rewards need to be brought back to what they were at least when it first launched, you know it giving better rewards as it gets harder they must have scrapped that idea.. As it stands there is no point in doing 48 over say 28.
I’m just happy that I can start getting something from champions besides white and blue.
In b4 its greens
If it is an account wide reward then please allow achievements to be account wide as well. Ie. Story mode is completed on your main, it’s counted as completed for all characters.
edit: grammatical error
Why not go all the way and make every single stat/skin account bound. If I unlock dungeon armor for one char, make me able to use it for every other char, if they do make all these reward changes accountbound.
I would love something along these lines but with legendaries make them like the zenith weapons and let use withdraw the skins for our account, is this so unreasonable?
Lol we should be careful with all these requests a mod will come by here and (delete) move the posts the the graveyard that is the suggestions sub forum.
It sounds like it might be a good idea. The easy, low level ones will drop area level mats, skill points and some other stuff, probably a green item. Enough to make it worthwhile to kill but not really enough to camp them. It’s the high level champions that sound more promising and the ones that might get camped. ANet could fix that by lengthening the respawn timer. Enough so that it’s not worth waiting there just for that.
Whether people start calling out champions and waypointing to them in a zerg, depends again on how rewarding they are. ANet needs to hit a sweet spot. Just enough to do but not enough to farm.
Now, in anything but a starter zone, people call out a champion and ask for help and get answered by, nothing.
Low level items, skill point drops and a green item isnot even worth while..especially not to a level 80. So why would an 80 bother to help with the champ that he sees one or two low levels struggling with?
Contradicting my last post, say what you will…seeing the queensdale zerg livens up that low level zone a bit.
I truely hope the reward is something worth while
A level 80 does not need more skill points, more karma,or tier 5 mats. Theres already a ton of that in the game and you can get it otherways. T6 mats are OK, Rare or exotics are good. I dont know..just something other than skill points. I dont need em. Never have.
Agreed lets all not forget that they added champs will always give a reward… And that reward was blues (after they got it working..)
Power creep? Good players should be rewarded.. Supply mastery rewards casual idiots who want to build siege more. ZERO progress made towards a player vs player atmosphere.
WXP =/= “good players”. Sorry to break your heart. Not only that but “Good players” probably don’t need to be rewarded with even more of an advantage over other players.
lmao. You’re right. Why would we want an end game that requires more than spamming a couple keys, key turns, and fighting npcs that you can get defense against? Lol you guys realize you play the easiest mmo joke of a version of “player vs player” in mmo history right? Mario cart is more challenging that sitting on an arrow cart for an hour just to press 2 buttons.
You just described every game ever made.
Why are you even complaining about PvP in WvW.. WvW is a PvE environment, the only way a WvW or RvR would be is that—- its PPPPPPPPvP. Go play a 5v5.
(edited by KingClash.3186)
Its the same for practically every server you should take a look at the 35-45 human zone Harathi Hinterlands and laugh at the massive culling zerg there too.
Its kinda sad that this game consists of 3 main areas for the general zombie populace, Queensdale Harathi lvl up there doing the same 10 events until 80 then farm CoF until you die of old age.
(I don’t play this way but I see many many others who do, and yes I know of the coming changes but I still see CoF being ran at least for daily 1g runs)
Rift ruined other MMOs for me. GW2 has it’s highlights and I do enjoy WvW, but overall this game is terrible.
What’s so good in Rift? legit question cuz i never tried it but keep hearing about it
My favorite thing about it was the build freedom. You didn’t have to worry about stats (stats were uniform unlike this game); you created your build by choosing skills from 3 different souls(these could be considered similar to traits line although souls also gave you your active skills) and each class (mage, warrior, cleric, rogue) had 9 different souls (or 10 if you’re talking post Storm Legion) that were tailored to different roles. You could also slot as many skills as you wanted as well (You could have 6+ skills bars with 12 slots each). Then on top of that if you wanted to nudge your build in a certain direction you would put points into your planar attunement which gave you small passive bonuses.
I also love the trinity and raiding/vertical gear progression which Rift did very well. The raids and dungeons are interesting and bosses actually have different mechanics that make for difficult and varying fights.
The one other thing that became very noticeable after playing GW2 was that in Rift you were actually rewarded appropriately and not with the pittances they throw at you in GW2.
^ This
(Keep in mind I mostly play GW2 and enjoy it.)
Ok that said, when Rift went F2P I tried it out, what you say is true every bit I actually really like Rift the rewards are very nice in that game but not common enough to be useless its a great balance. The LFG system is fantastic as well for dungeons and instant adventures. My beef with it though is the graphics for some odd reason I can only run Rift on lowish while I run GW2 on high with a better performance, makes no sense but low settings on Rift look bad and it kills me to go from this to that.
Could you give me tips how to do it solo then? I really want the achievement.
Spawn camp the looters, if you can’t cripple/immobilize them don’t chase because you’ll pull the horde just wait for them to come back and kill them then, once you figure it out its simple. (for the achievement)
Nothing bad kitten about thinking outside the box Mr. above poster that quoted me. :P
First of all, why they need to be fixed? The game just encourages you to go full damage (zerker) becouse the other options aren’t so good as fast killing possible. Wanna be defensive? Kill fast as possible so you wont take too much dmg.
I disagree with your points. The reason why people claim that Berzeker is the best gear available is because they assume all sources of damage can be avoided by dodging. If you can’t avoid all kinds of damage through dodge, they say, you are just a bad player who doesn’t really matter.
Ergo, increasing healing power, vitality or toughness would not be the answer. The same argument would stay – you don’t need any of those things, just dodge and you become invulnerable, that’s it. Doesn’t matter how much health you have or how much healing you can do.
Said point of view is wrong – there are some circunstances in which dodging is not the solution, such as when facing multiple enemies who can apply Immobilize in intervals shorter than a profession’s available condition removal. But this kind of scenario only happens in specific places on the open world, not dungeons, so people simply don’t care.
What ArenaNet should do is remove the crutch. Make the most profitable dungeon one in which there’s some kind of environmental effect reducing endurance to zero, so people cannot dodge. Suddenly, the entire argument of “anything but Power, Precision and Critical Damage doesn’t matter because you can dodge” goes away, and people see the need for defensive attributes (as well as a stronger need for support roles in dungeons).
In a game designed around PvE 1 shot mechanics taking out dodging would be a horrible idea, the reason zerker is mostly better is because no matter if you’re PVT or zerk a 1 shot is still going to be a 1 shot.
Some of the targeting changes we’re trying should help alleviate selection of stacked targets. Right now there’s so much overlap that even if you clicked perfectly on someone’s model, it could select a minion instead.
It would be refreshing to see the NPCs/AI removed out of PvP. Currently everything but a warrior (wait, forgot about rock dog) has something following it.
Engis have no followers. They do have turrets, but they don’t move so it (generally) isn’t an issue to avoid targetting them.
It can be a problem when you are tab mashing and it just flops between the 2 nearest turrets over and over and over without ever targeting an actual player, happens a lot with those stupid vines too..
All I can say is deal with it, I know its harsh but its true. Even if you find another game to migrate to somewhere somehow it will have its cheats and hacks for example: almost every FPS game has a type of aim bot, WoW and RIFT and other games of the sort have multiboxing, (which isn’t a bannable offense there) Fighting games like Tekken to this day can be ruled by turbo controllers, you get the point.
At least its a somewhat rare occasion, but their way of handling hacks such as the teleport bot and flying leaves a bitter taste, you can add these people to your friends list and see 1st hand that reports do nothing as they are online for months after dozens of reports.
I hope you mean because of how easy it is, because soloing it is brain dead easy.
I do it since thats where my hand rests while playing and I feel it gives more control.
HOWEVER it does like to bug out and dodge random directions sometimes the worse is when you’re walking and press W+Q at like the same millisecond and you phantom dodge off something lol.
They cannot seem to fix skill lag without our cooperation which we’ve been refusing to provide with our insane need to super stack into the top tiers for a chance at 24/7 constant action but no matter how hard we try someone is always going to have outmanned hours some of the time.
ANET gave us culling shortly after release to help combat skill lag issues from beta and we promptly told them no thank you so they went back to the drawing board figuring ways to deal with it. We got the AoE caps early on to help with the problem but that was not enough. Then they gave us more WvW settings to let us attempt to throttle the issue from our end so they are obviously not ignoring the problem but always seem a bit behind and slow to respond probably because these changes take a lot longer than I would imagine.
I have a feeling the powers that control the server population caps and maybe even WvW map populations caps are not the same guys working on the skill lag issue or we would not keep seeing those caps going up while skill lag keeps increasing. >< At this point they cannot take the caps back down without providing some incentive for us all to spread back out across the worlds again because of the queue rage that will inevitably ensue when they do. So we get to be trapped in a vicious cycle of increasing skill lag and stacking in the top tiers. /sigh
The OPs tag says FS.. FS is not a top tier server, this is a game wide problem and blaming server stacking is nonsense. (The countless threads on the subject from EVERYWHERE are proof enough…)
You can go from lvl 2 to 80 just sitting in LA crafting, so yes.
If you want a fun easy cake walk while actually exploring (assuming you don’t have the resources or money to power craft) make a guardian or warrior and solo every event you come across.
Man I’ve seen several posts in this thread alone that say they are trying to save money but at the same time they are converting gold to gems for a bank slot..
Wth people just spend 8-10g on those 1,000 influence cards make your own guild and use it as a bank it only takes (if memory serves) 4,000 influence to get the 50 slot guild bank, and you can make multiple guilds. YW
Better question, is it possible for these weeds to stop sprouting up and trying to cause unnecessary drama for no reason?
you are on a forum.
Labeling feedback you don t like, drama and just accepting compliments its not much democratic nor useful.
Gather feedback, see the reasons behind things and see if they are acceptable or baseless trolling.
You can even ignore the part “i like/dislike this….” and just read the part “because XYZ”
But just saying if you don t agree with me you are a whiner is just useless and unrespectful.
My post was directed towards the OP >.>
oh god no.. why would you even want first person for jumping puzzles. The camera is fine and when you do the jp a few times you know where to jump anyways.
Max sized norns and charr would like to think otherwise.
Better question, is it possible for these weeds to stop sprouting up and trying to cause unnecessary drama for no reason?
Gw1 had a really nice feature where when you pressed tab it would select the enemy that you were “looking at.” Basically you could aim your camera at a target and when you pressed tab it would select the enemy closest to the middle of your screen. The tab targeting in gw2 seems to have no rhyme or reason to what is selected next, going from someone off to your right to someone behind you to someone on the other side of the map u.u
Try the C button, it works similarly.
All my keys are completely remapped…What does the default C do?
For GW1 C is target closest enemy, for some odd reason its not in GW2 I quickly changed that in my config almost as fast as I turned on the game clock (after years of using C to “reset” my tab targeting if I over did it I just couldn’t live without it XD).
It would also be nice if like in GW1 and most other MMOs if we could at least see the hostile foes on the mini map as red dots, that way when we do have a target tabbed it highlights which one on the mini map.
Oh and also 360 tab targeting
not just in front might be helpful at least let it be an option.
And to karka shells.
I don’t see why we cant just have the WvW achievements lowered and repeatable, kinda like the Agent of Entropy achievement. :/
Maybe we could request that a dev goes into Orr to finally realize and fix the permanent cripple debuff that a lot of risen are inflicting now days, this is happening on a daily basis during my ori runs now, you know since all reports are too vague. :P
Rush is simply a movement skill, it does pretty low damage so why even use it in a fight other than running back for auto regen or catching someone doing just that.
Just remember guys to #VoteEvon
Voting for Evon results in cheaper BL keys for the next four weeks. So if you buy gems with real $ you get the best bang for your buck. And if you buy gems with gold, you should convert now.
But here is the thing, even if the BL keys do drop in gem price most people will start buying gems with gold skyrocketing the cost of gems as a whole, which would (even with discounted keys) become too costly still for some.
On the other hand reduced WP costs (stacking with guild reduction?) would benefit everyone daily, if someone has played regularly since launch I’d wager they have spent 100-200g at least on WP costs its crazy how well of a gold sink they are and those 1-4 silver fees do really add up in a long run.
Basically imo Evon will make some people happy, and Ellen will make everyone content.
And what about someone that got CoF armor back in September (because I genuinely liked it, and there was no P1 speed runs back then everyone forgets it used to be one of the harder paths in the game before it was nerfed) and I just happen to main a warrior that doesn’t farm CoF P1 on principle?
@ OP not sure if serious :P
But if you are, I’m glad you’re not a developer.
(edited by KingClash.3186)
Lets not forget that they already added Champ drops before and it didn’t even work correctly for months after it was patched in, turns out profitable and worthy to Anet is just blues and the occasional green. Don’t get too excited just yet.
Its fine…Elder Scrolls Online is coming out in the near future. If they are able to handle large fights I will be the first one to dump GW2 and run there.
if they don t want to fix this then people will leave. Every week this is what happens, one server on one side and another one on the other and the whole EB map lags to hell with 20 seconds heals if you are lucky. In this screenshot those are full JQ and full SoR not just a group of 20…the whole map was there.
…. Sooo it’s Anets fault your servers decided to super stack and then have server cap sized zerg/blobs in one single area of the map?
Are you for real right now?
This problem is -your- fault. YOU can fix it by destacking the servers and not running a single blob of the whole map on one icon. Why is this so hard to understand?
The ONLY servers where this is a problem are the ‘tier 1’ servers.
Okay…
First off, its not just T1 that has massive skill lags go read the other 50 threads about this from people in every other server.
And secondly it is partially anets fault for stacked servers giving the fact that they had free transfers for months after launch with a WvW system that provides PvE bonus to winning worlds.
You keep telling people to “just transfer down!” and you sound like a marketing employee for NCSOFT trying to make people buy gems to transfer because of a problem thats “their” fault.
Stop.
(edited by KingClash.3186)
Most everyone that played GW1 can tell you that the Abbadon final mission in Nightfall was very very easy and if its going to be the same as it was back then I’ll be voting for Ellen Kiel on the off chance that it might be.
“I’ll reduce waypoint travel prices for four weeks’ time”
I’d much rather have this than crappy discount on useless Black Lion Keys lol.
Keep in mind just how big of a gold sink WP costs actually are, I know I’ve spent at least 200g on travel fees these past 10 months. Those 1-4s fees really add up XD.
It’s a mechanic to make you melee them.
They can be invulnerable in melee too, happens far more often than it should.
Its almost as bad as launch time underwater combat XD.
