Mind you I have never said anything like that, i just generalized that noone who ever plays a certain game admits it’s bad.
What is that then:
It’s pretty obvious you didn’t even bother to read the post, it’s a well written post without any attack or insult to anyone (company or players), things are like that, but like most people you can’t accept the fact that the game is bad while you still play it (and not because it’s revolutionary, but because you got nothing else to do).
I don’t invent it, it’s on your first answer to me on the previous page.
But enough of this – I’ll let the moderators deal with it.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
I never said you had to like the bugs. I dislike bugs as much as anyone else. Mind you, I still have 100% world exploration on my main, despite the bugs, so while there are bugs, I have yet to find a game breaking one.
What I don’t accept is that you tell me I’m wrong for liking a game, that I can’t accept it’s bad, that I play it just because I’ve nothing else to do. That is insulting. Keep posting YOUR opinion, don’t try to assume what is mine and why I’m wrong to have it, thank you very much, I’m no kid but a 44 years old adult and I’m old enough to know what I enjoy and what I do not, I don’t need you to tell me ;-)

It’s pretty obvious you didn’t even bother to read the post, it’s a well written post without any attack or insult to anyone (company or players), things are like that, but like most people you can’t accept the fact that the game is bad while you still play it (and not because it’s revolutionary, but because you got nothing else to do).
Anet has a lot of issues, managing forums is one of them, people complaints should NOT be deleted, they should be HANDLED, we are customers since we bought the game, i for one because of their marketing department, they sure did a hell of a job advertising and pointing out the good side of the game, they hid the other side though, which makes the good one look like a tiny little brother.
I perfectly read the post, and I definitely didn’t insult the OP either. It’s not a major insult or flaw to prefer games with an infinite end game gear grind (the famous carrot). Hell, I also enjoy that play style (WoW for 8 years, including hard mode / heroic raiding). But I can also enjoy the GW2 style which doesn’t require a gear grind to be competitive and then play the game just for the fun of it (I also played AC1 for 6+ years).
And about my comment about Blizzard, I know how they manage their game very well, as I said I play it since US beta 8 years ago (still have an active account). At the beginning, they were pretty good at customer service and developer communication, but it’s over, they have become arrogant. The team which was managing WoW at release is long gone, replaced by people like Ghostcrawler.
But you seem to display an extreme intolerance for people who happen to like this game, to the point of being insulting. “but like most people you can’t accept the fact that the game is bad while you still play it”. I beg your pardon? So because you say the game is bad, I wrong for liking it and I can’t accept the ultimate truth you are holding? You got to be kidding me, right?
Next time you lecture people, be sure you are not worse than them in your post.

Yeah, Shroom Mage is right… a video game is a product, just like a car, a television, or hell, a computer, or a dinner at the restaurant. Would you buy a car or a television without doing some research before? Do you go to a fish restaurant if you hate fish?

If you want your warrior more resilient, go down the defense and tactics trait lines. Gear up for “tanking” (aka Toughness and Vitality). Take armorsmithing, keep that crafting skill up to date, and you will always have top notch armor.
Also, be sure to use the Signet of the Dolyak (damage reduction) and also the Healing Signet which gives you permanent regeneration for PvE. If you go down tactics traits, you will eventually have banners which give you very good health regen too.
And of course, you need to learn to dodge.
My main (80 now) is a Warrior, and I never had a problem tackling even the hardest personal story chapters.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
It’s obvious that the OP can’t live without and end game gear grind. ANet has always been very clear on this, since the very first announcement of GW2.
And about Blizzard listening to players… that’s the most funny thing I’ve read lately. I’m what you could call a WoW fan, I’ve played the game for 8 years (since US beta), but Blizzard devs have become utterly arrogant, certainly due to their success, and they definitely don’t listen to the players. Ghostcrawler is possibly the most arrogant “know it all” of the industry.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Unlike other games (including WoW), GW2 is one of the very rare MMORPG where crafting permits to create the best gear of the game (exotics). Just for that, crafting deserves at least 5/10.
I agree on the economy, it’s quite bad (and ruined by farmers and bots too), but the crafting is quite good in itself. Don’t blame crafting for the stupidity or greed of people on the auction house.

Smells like under bridge dweller now, but I’ll bite once more…
If you hope to be able to solo dungeons with 5 characters you control yourself, well, you’re in for a bad surprise. This game isn’t like WoW, LOTRO or GW1, notably because dodging is essential to survive, specially in dungeons.
Even if you multibox 5 accounts, you will never pass even the first boss in AC story mode. Hell, I doubt you will even survive the trash.
All the other content can be played solo (aka never having to have a verbal or group contact with any other player) even without multiboxing.
Oh, and by the way, GW1 is still up and running if you really need to multibox to feel happy. Or you can play a solo game like the excellent Skyrim, where you will never meet another player to annoy you, satisfying your antisocial needs.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Last time I’ve read about it, multiboxing is perfectly possible, but if you run several clients on the same computer, you need to have separate installations of the game, and of course you need two separate accounts.
On a side note, it always boggles my mind when people play a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer) to NOT play with other people… o_O

I want to chime in to say that I totally agree with the OP.
Ban the buyers who use illegal ways to get gold, aka not the in game shop, but third party sellers who are at the origin of the spam, the bots, but also the account hacking. Ban the buyers, and advertise it. Make it clear that buying illegal gold will get your account banned.

@Colin Johanson:
Your game rocks (best MMORPG in the last 8 years, as I already said), but you guys must be careful with the bugs – I hope the Halloween event won’t be bug ridden, since you have no test server of any kind.
So I come to my question which you will hopefully see and answer – do you guys plan to add a test server to the game? I know that for some, it can spoil the surprise on new content, but it’s also invaluable in helping to release bug free content.
Anyway, keep up the good job – I’ll be with you for a long time I think

This is not “hidden” botting, this is “right in your face” botting… yeah, ONE GM could clean that place in a couple of minutes.

What I dont like, and the reason why many mature mmo enthusiasts aren’t playing much longer is that combat and wvw is meaningless.
I’m a mature (44 years old today) MMO veteran (been playing those games in their graphical version since UO beta like 17 years ago, and some text MUDs before too), and I still thoroughly enjoy GW2 even though I already have a 80 in full exotics. WvW is awesome, and my guild and me are having a blast. Combat is refreshing after the awful invasion of WoW clones these last 8 years.
Just to say – don’t assume your personal experience and opinion is anything even remotely close to any majority. All you do is flexing some virtual meaningless muscle here, nothing more.

Who cares? They are NOT necessary to be on the top competitively wise in this game. Exotics weapons are just as good.

For me it has been a strong yes, so many hours of gameplay and promise for more content down the line. Amazing value in my personal opinion, what do you guys think?
I have already like 420 hours of playing out of the game… that’s more than many single player games that cost as much if not more.
Definitely worth the money, specially since I still don’t see the end of the game yet.

Reposting this here because told so by the moderator:
How comes obvious bots can even make it to level 30+ without being banned?
By obvious bot, I don’t mean the hacked account with a random class and a normal name. I mean rangers (or often groups of them), with gibberish names, running always the same path killing the same stuff over and over again.
How comes those bots are even able to make it past level 15 and leave the starter areas? I can’t believe your in game customer service is so bad that they can’t see what is obvious to us players.
Bots in low level areas, I can fully understand, it still needs some time for them to be detected (even though it gives a really bad image of the game to new players). But in 30+ areas? Come on, you have to react faster. Really.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Why you gotta diss rangers?
Engineers are another botting class too.And often the bots ive seen have normal user names
I don’t “diss rangers”, I “diss bots”. I was only giving one example of obvious bots.

What can he do? He opened a support ticket, but he was asked for more info. Now he’s waiting for almost a day without new answer. It’s holidays for him today and he’s kinda angry for not being able to play.
Is there a support PHONE number for France?
Thanks.
PS: if you need, I’ll ask him his ticket number. He obviously can’t post here since he’s not even able to log into the website.

What should one do when he gets such a mail? Accepting the copper to get rid of the mail involves the risk of getting your account flagged for gold buying…

The CPU is the bottleneck, but AMD aren’t the only culprits here – this game is way too CPU dependent, and more should be delegated to the graphic card.

I personally would remove the “kitten” commander title altogether and add real support for raid sized groups in WvW instead.
To be honest, I was planning to get one of my guildies funded for the title first, a guy who leads a squad in EvE online and knows what he’s doing when it comes to tactics and keeping a cool head. But I pretty much gave up when I saw the average quality of the average commander in game. As said somewhere between my last post and this one, in a year, we’ll have armies of commanders in WvW, it will mean nothing at all.
I want the ability to make a large sized guild and more group. I don’t give a chicken about the commander rank, specially considering how overpriced it is, for the same price my guild can acquire thousands of siege engines and/or keep upgrades.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Most commanders I saw in WvsW are loudmouths who don’t have a clue. Commander is something that should have been earned by proving your worth, not with gold. Any kid with attention seeking problems can buy the title, it’s pretty much worthless.
I’ve had way better experiences with non-commander with a clue leading than with loudmouth commanders.
Does anyone really think because you have a blue icon above your head people will listen to you?
It really doesn’t help that much. Nor does it show you have any kind of tactical knowledge above anyone else.
If you earned it through achievements in PvP that would be one thing, but all it means is “Oh look on the map who had WAY to much time on their hands to grind gold”
Exactly.
And Chris said it perfectly. OP, do you think I would listen to you just because you have some icon over your head and on the map? You better prove me that you’re worthy wearing that icon first, or all you’re going to do is end on my in game block list.

Curiously I have no problems with loot bags – since they spawn at your feet, you just have to press “F” without even seeing them.
But I wouldn’t mind an auto loot system in PvP, would make things more simple indeed and also make sure you don’t inadvertently miss a bag.

The only point I agree on is death penalty – there should be no repair bills when killed by a player, only when killed by a NPC/mob.
Mobs are fine.
My biggest pet peeve for now is the invisible enemies. That’s the worse problem in WvW for now. This needs to be fixed asap.

“When those completed the whole PvE world, they should have a reward. Then, on top of that, you can add a PvP world achievement, and even eventually an achievement for both.”
This is the only acceptable solution. Provided all three have rewards.
Oh, quoting is back
Yes, of course, all three would have rewards.
And about the puzzles, no, they don’t need any change (it’s PvP, and you do NOT need the puzzles for the world exploration), but I would like siege engines to be not authorized in there.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
(edited by Korrigan.4837)
Sorry, for some reason I can’t quote anymore, so I will do this manually:
“If you want 100% world completion, you should experience 100% of the world, which includes PvP. Why should you only experience part of the game and get the medal? It’s an achievement, not something you have to get past to enjoy the other parts of the game.”
This kind of reasoning is simplistic and nonsensical for two reasons:
1) Forcing people to do things they don’t want to never had good results. It’s better to encourage them without forcing them. There are explorers out there who aren’t killers, who don’t care about PvP. When those completed the whole PvE world, they should have a reward. Then, on top of that, you can add a PvP world achievement, and even eventually an achievement for both. But right now, the PvE player who explored the whole PvE world is screwed.
2) Do you really want PvE players only looking for the achievement completion take spots in the WvsW areas? When they do vistas/PoI/etc, they don’t participate in WvsW, they only hog a spot that could be used by an active PvP player instead. Sorry, I do quite a bit of WvsW, and when I have a 1h queue in the evening, I’d rather not have half of it being non-PvPers just looking to complete the exploration.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
I still don’t understand people who, like the OP, insist to make GW2 “fit the mold”. Those people have tons of WoW clones (and WoW itself, new expansion got released) to play, with all the gear tier grinds they “enjoy” so much, yet they want to turn this game into another one.
I can tell you one thing… the day ANet turns this into another WoW like gear grind where stats matter more than skill, I will stop playing, and of course not buy future expansions or any cash shop items (I’ve already spend 40€ in the shop). GW2 gets my money because it’s different. Because it reminds me AC1 where player skill mattered more than gear. Change that, and I’m gone (and I’m willing to bet I’m not a minority).

Siege Engines should simply be forbidden in puzzle areas.
The puzzle areas have mechanics on their own to prevent others from progressing – siege engines are not needed there and are just overpowered.

Region locking or XP scaling is just a way tokitten off part of your playerbase or treat them as second class citizens for no reason other than the fact that someone else couldn’t be bothered to show up.
It’s a video game, not war. The very vast majority can’t afford to wake up in the middle of the night to defend a virtual keep when they have a family and a job. Only the minority of “no life” can afford to do that, ruining the game for the majority.
I would simply shut down W3 between (e.g.) Midnight and 8am. You can still run around, fight each other, but you can’t take forts anymore. But that’s drastic, I’m sure a more gentle solution can be found.

About your negative points…
I agree on 1), but this has already been recognized as NOT working as intended and will be fixed. For 2), well… learn to play issue? Confirmed by your 3) where you expect to play some kind of WoW “blood DK” or other tank spec, which doesn’t exist in this game.
Basically, you’re right on one point, there’s a problem, acknowledge by the developers and being fixed… and on the two others, you just failed to adapt to a game which is totally different from the holy trinity mentality of EQ/WoW clones.

My sister HATES spiders. When she sees one, even a tiny one, you can hear her from miles away shout.
She plays video games for ages though, and she never had problems with VIRTUAL spiders in a MMORPG. She manages to make the difference between a real and a pixel spider. Maybe you should try that too? They aren’t real, they can’t bite you, they can’t crawl out of the screen

I’ve just read that TSW had hard dungeons. Then someone else says that… LOTRO??? has hard dungeons… you got to be kidding me right? It’s not possible I’ve just read that? I misread? And then Age of Conan… best joke of the list.
There is ONE problem in dungeons in GW2, which also happens in group oriented dynamic events… the game needs an option to tone down or even disable friendly player spell effects. They make it often impossible to see the preparing moves of the boss mobs, when they are about to bash your skull badly. Everything else is “learn to play” issues, because the game is different and doesn’t work on the “tank/healer/dps” model. That, or use the combat text for warnings.
