It is really bad when you zone in and there is NOBODY to help you. No shouting strats, nothing. Maybe they meant it for guilds only, but for solo players it stinks.
Especially since even if I get three friends to cap something the enemy camping the tower outside spawn can see EXACTLY where we are and go counter attack even though were out manned. That is really irritating.
I’ve been mostly joining solo for the monthly achievement for now, and I have definitely won more than I lost (monetary wise). Gandara server.

Thief is pretty much OP anyway – like all stealth classes. It’s one of the part where ANet failed – they wanted to make a class with “limited” stealth, yet it’s still as OP and easy mode than e.g. a WoW rogue.

The karma PRICES being too high is a different problem, and I agree – for instance the prices on the racial gear are utterly ridiculous.
I still think that getting a legendary should be utterly hard – something to look forward to for the “hardcore” – specially since it’s no better than an exotic stat wise anyway. So I was just giving advice to the OP how to better farm Karma for his endeavor
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Actually, the best way to get Karma is to do WvW PvP. It’s MUCH better than any cursed shore farming.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Not a bad idea, but I would actually say “no repair bill when you die from a player”. If a mob or a keep NPC kills you, you get normal repairs.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
The puzzle quest is fine as is. If anything they should just remove that one from being needed to get trophy completion.
That’s the source of the problem. Same for the monthly completion achievement, you are forced into PvP, which isn’t normal and goes against the GW2 philosophy of catering to all play styles.
I have people in my guild absolutely not interested in PvP, but who are achievers who will want 100% world completion. Forcing those people into PvP is nonsensical, and this should be changed. ANet should simply add a “PvP world completion” and separate both.
Is there actually a good reason why vistas in wvwvw are required for world completion? It reminds me of JQ/FA back in gw1, where people would just run mindlessly around trying to get their fuzz for cartographer, but not contribute anything to the fight.
Logic says these same people will pop into wvw, and attempt to get the things they need, and leave. This takes up spots for actual pvp-ers, and honestly provides nothing to the pve player other than possibly some repair bills. If someone is in the wvw map, they should be there to play. They shouldn’t have to go there to complete vistas. This makes no sense.
And there’s this too, of course!
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
No. No third party stuff that modifies the game. Never.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Anet isn’t to blame, but the people stupid enough make goldsellers profitable.
This is a VERY important point, true for all MMOs and not only for GW2.
Gold sellers, their spam, and their account hacking, only exist because you have losers who buy their gold. If nobody would buy their gold, they would not exist, since no buyer = no market = no seller.
So to the people who search for a culprit after having their account hacked by gold farmers or who are simply annoyed by the constant spam in game chat… don’t blame ArenaNET or NCSoft… blame the persons who buy gold from unauthorized source. It’s because of those people that your account got hacked and used for gold farming/selling.

It’s the opposite for me – I was in GW1 beta and played it a bit, but the heavily instanced design of the game just didn’t do it for me. To the opposite, I absolutely love GW2 and I am having a blast.
GW2 = the best MMORPG I’ve played since years and years. A refreshing change from all the WoW clone crap released since 2004.

You do realise it grants 3 seconds of Fury for each block of Adrenaline right?
The F1 for the GS isn’t about the initial damage, you get 9seconds of 20% additional crit.that’s not really useful to a warrior….we have the rage elite signet that grants us fury, might and swiftness for 30 seconds I’d rather have the damage component raised a notch or two to around 5k damage or so just a bit less than the rifle one, though I think that if a rifle can do that much damage a huge blade to your face should do even more damage.
Hum… the F1 skill will also increase the duration of any existing fury buff. If you play smart, you can get full time +20% crit. Even when your signet is active, the F1 skill’s fury buff is not lost.

Even T3 is way too expensive – come on, 63k per weapon for what is just a RARE item? You got to be kidding me.

… i have 100% world complete after day 8 of prelaunch on warrior…
… 284 hours played over 21 days…
That’s the source of your “problems”. You played a video game 13 hours a day for 3 weeks. I won’t go into the “get a life” comments, since one can just take a break for a new game release and your life is not my business, but NO game developer can keep up with someone who spends more time playing the game than doing his “real life” duties.
You’ve burned yourself out. You can’t blame ANet for that.

Some people are just so deeply stuck in the “EQ/WOW clone” endgame mindset that they will have a hard time adapting to GW2. But people who played games like UO or AC1 will feel at home in a game where the pace doesn’t suddenly change at max level and doesn’t force you into groups/raiding with no other options.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Both the cultural weapons and armor are WAY too expensive. The amount of karma needed for the different tiers of weapons is insane too. At one time during beta, the prices (for weapons at least) were about right: they would greatly dent the karma sash of a character, but without being impossible to get ON LEVEL. Now, even a level 80 will struggle getting the tier 2 weapons, and even more the tier 3 one.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
First of all – there are no real target in wvw. Keeps aren’t real “guild halls”, they don’t give any bonuses to the guilds owning them, WvW dominating itself doesn’t gives any real bonuses.
Won’t discuss the rest of your post, but on this part, you are wrong. Keeps can give bonuses to guilds owning them.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Clearly you’ve also never played Warhammer Online and the success of such a system.
I think most if not all MMORPG veterans know about the smashing success of Warhammer Online… or without the sarcasm, the failure of that game. Most if not all concepts of that game were flawed – it’s one of the worse examples you could use as game to take inspiration from.
And to answer another part of your post without quoting it (because I’m lazy and want to play GW2 right now…): we are not against the idea, we are against the way you suggest to implement it. Reducing an already low gold income, taxing every single transaction someone worked hard for, I don’t agree with that. That’s why I suggest going the “bonus gold” route: don’t touch the actual income, but add a percentage over it as guild income. My guild is “professional” by your standards, we have strict recruitment, a guild website, voice chat, etc… but our players are all married people with a life outside of the game, and some would not like the benefit of the little game time they have reduced even more. I LIKE the idea of a way to add guild income, I dislike the idea of reducing the actual income of my guild mates to achieve it.

I’m 43 (44 in October) and I have no problems with the “fast paced” gameplay of GW2. But then, I’ve been playing video games for 30+ years and FPS since the very first DOOM like 20 years ago…
Active dodging was already in good old Asheron’s Call 1, a game GW2 shares a lot of common points with, and is a welcome change from the stale “EQ/WoW” threat based gameplay. If you want a WoW clone, there’s a LOT of choice on the market (and I’m not a WoW hater, played the game for 7+ years), at least one game is different, please leave it be.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
A lot of people want to be insanely rich so they don’t have to work. What shall we do now?
Point being what people want is not always what’s good for the general setting (be it a game or real life).
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Most if not all guild tax systems end in in benefiting a selected few at the cost of the majority. Democracy? You got to be kidding me. When the whole guild finances (e.g.) the siege engines of a part of the guild, then there’s no democracy, it’s called a rip off.
From reading his subsequent posts, I now know where the OP is coming from. And as a guild leader, I will never support such mechanisms.
And by the way, you have already mechanisms in place to make siege engines cheaper through guild influence. That’s all what is needed, and it benefits everyone don’t WvW without having to fork out personal gold.
PS: There’s no “professional” here. We are all players of a video game. Just to make this clear too.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
I didn’t dismiss your feature, read my post again carefully. As you said, I shifted it. Instead of taking money aways from the actual income of guildies, I increase it and give the additional amount to the guild bank. Instead of penalizing my guild mates, I generate additional income just for the guild.
The result would be the same.
Maybe YOU like to punish your guild members, but I don’t
3. Many members (if not most) would actually save money:
• They’d have no need to buy blue prints in WvW from their own money.
• They’d have no need to make large purchases as the guild bank could support them.
• They’d have no need to spend their own money on keep upgrades.
Think about this again, please… you realize that if the guild buys blueprints with the money earned from guild taxes, the members actually still pay for the blueprints with their own money? You know, even in “real life”, when the government builds that bridge with tax money, they do it with YOUR money… ;-)
Tell me, what’s the difference between buying a blueprint 1 silver, and giving 1 silver to the guild bank to it can buy a blueprint for you to use?
All I see in that system is the potential for abuses.

Not a bad idea to be honest – newbies usually ask for advice in the area they are in. This said, this could negatively affect honest newbies who ask stuff about crafting…
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Taxes are a bad idea. I don’t agree with the leader being able to literally “steal” any amount of money from his guildies. And I am guild leader.
What I would like to see is a system like in WoW, a guild perk you can gain with influence which INCREASES the gold drops of members by 5% or 10% (there can be different tiers) and the additional money goes in the bank. Then yes, I agree. But in no way I agree with reducing the member’s income.

Could you please add a chat channel that the leader of a guild can select which ranks can participate to? Could be just another check box in the guild rank panel ([ ] Can participate in officer chat).
Thanks.

My simple answer: no it doesn’t.
My longer answer: small scale PvP, aka “arena”, breeds “optimal team setups”, leaving some trait specs and even classes out of the activity. Why? Simple… a game with 8 different classes and even more different trait specializations is NOT meant to be played 2vs2 or 3vs3. The arenas negatively affected WoW by leading to class equalization and down dumbing in order to try to make them all viable for that activity.
So a big “NO” to arenas here – they will affect the whole game negatively.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
What they should have done is mixing up normal mobs, maybe “sick” mobs (about to be converted) and undead in those areas. Having only undead would be fine for one zone, but for three, it’s a bit too much, I agree on that. Thankfully, there’s Frostgorge Sound to take a break from all the undead slaying.
It is a pain to travel through, but it’s also one of the most exciting zones.
Stun, stun, stun, immobilize, sink, stun, immobilize, immobilize, stun, sink, sun – exciting.
You forgot “Pull” – my all times favorite
Let me say that I hate Orr. And I don’t hate Orr, because of poor design, I hate Orr, because it was designed exactly how it was envisioned. It is a dangerous, dead, dank land absolutely filled to the brim with Zhaitan’s undead minions. All bases are subject to attack and there is no true safety and no true refuge. Honestly, if you could imagine yourself in a situation like that and really LIKE it, then you’re a masochist.
That said, I love the execution of Orr and a lot of your complaints are really just unconstructive rants. In fact, out of your HUGE list of complaints:
Almost every Waypoint is contested. Combine this with the lack of Mounts, and getting from point A to point B in GW2 becomes a major hassle
Really only this one has any merit. I would prefer that there were more “neutral” location waypoints that aren’t associated with the security of a base or a location.
Also
Lots of bugged/broken events (dynamic or not, these are just a hassle when they can’t be finished)
Obviously an issue, but, unlike the above, is not intentionally part of the design and will be fixed.
From what I’m reading, it honestly seems like you want to be able to come into this zone and just trounce around with complete impunity. Sorry, not going to happen. This is Zhaitan’s territory and you’re in it. And then when you say things like this:
I think they made the zone to be underwater, then decided that since no one likes underwater content, they made it land level, and then wrote the lore around that
THEN you sound obstinent and like you just want to come here and complain. Orr, like every other zone in GW2, is very well-designed and the art team did a fantastic job at executing what is supposed to look like a dead and previously submerged island.
I pretty much agree with you, my dear guildie, I would just have liked a bit more mob variety. You basically have the same type of humanoid undead in the three zones – those which stun, those which pull, those which fear… you got the idea. The area is amazingly designed like everything else in GW2, but as I said, it’s a relief to teleport away to Frostgorge sometimes to get out of the same, bland landscape you have in 3 areas.

Question is in the title – do we have to keep the mail in our mailbox or can we trash it just after reporting it?
Thanks.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
I haven’t found this to happen unless people were under geared and had no clue what was going on.
Players that understand how to use their characters and dodge can go all day with light healing.
There is always someone who never sees or has any problems and that person i never believe.
Yeah, I mean, he can not be doing something right you aren’t doing right… you can’t be wrong, that’s impossible ;-)
What I (and several guildies) noticed is that there’s a world of difference in dungeons between the average PuG with people running around like headless chicken nuking things, and an organized guild group.

I agree the gold seller spam (both in chat and via in game mail) is getting out of control. Someone needs to be done, quickly.
Also, there are two spammers in Lion’s Arch on Gandara who, despite being reported by several people including myself, are still spamming for over half an hour now. The GMs must be faster to get us rid of those annoying rats.
Not to mention those are most likely hacked account if you consider the character names…

We had the same problem in AC, this needs an urgent fix. Also happens outside if dungeons.

The cultural armor is only for the looks. They offer worse stats than crafted exotics which are far cheaper. They are meant to be a long term reward for dedicated players. Prices are fine as they are.
I believe if that was the case then there would either be no level on the items, or all the items would be level 80. Through normal progression there is no feasible way for an individual to be level 40~ and have enough money/karma to afford a full set of 40 RSE.
Yeah, that’s the point. And even for a level 80, the grind is simply utterly awful.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
A plea to the community
Before I begin, I’d like everyone who doesn’t have an issue with the current camera and controls to refrain from posting how they don’t have issues. That’s fine and I’m really happy that you can enjoy this otherwise great game. But dismissing the problem does not contribute to the discussion, since the problem is there, with its roots in the camera algorithm. If you don’t experience the problems present now, I assure you that you wouldn’t notice any changes if they were made later on, or if the camera behaved differently to start with. And that’s perfectly ok.
I’m sorry, but I’m going to disagree here. If someone is ok with the actual camera system, but as consequence of your post here, ANet makes changes that he dislikes, then he WILL be negatively affected by your thread. So everybody should be able to voice his opinion in this thread, and not just the people agreeing with you.
I’m personally fine with the camera, but what I noticed is that the “inertia/latency” effect increases on low performance computers, and decreases on higher performance ones. In my personal and professional opinion (of someone making real time graphic software for like 20 years) is that the “problem” is on the graphic engine’s side. It’s not network related, it’s not LCD screen related (all modern LCD screens have a 5ms response time), it’s purely graphic engine related when it’s under heavy load. We can also expect future drivers from both ATI and nVidia to fix this.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
Seriously, I’ve seen changes in the cultural weapons prices, including the Norn bug, but the actual prices are complete nonsense. Even the Tier 1 prices are way too high (the first price was about right), it would rip a level 40 character of all his karma, if he’s even able to afford it. And the 60 and 80 weapon prices are just completely out of any remotely reasonable range.
Also, no matter if 1H or 2H, all weapons have the same prices, unlike the previous (more correct) prices which were different depending on the weapon. That’s why I think this can only be a bug or a temporary price. I really hope you guys adjust this soon. Come on, it’s still only RARE quality weapons. All prices should be at least divided by 4 or 5, and prices should be different for 1H and 2H weapons.

I have a 6970 amd and have this issue no dust what so ever i have a gelid icy on mine and this game when 60 or unlimited is enabled cooks my card 80°C is bad only game that does it
That temperature is actually normal for a videocard, 90°C is still safe for a videocard. And gw2 is a very heavy game, but if you want lower temps you can manually set the fan speed a bit higher in your graphics driver. If a cpu should hit 80°C then you have a problem, but no problem for videocard.
With all respect Matthias, it should be the other way around.
The GPU should NEVER hit temps of 90°C, it would cease to function otherwise in a few months. The i7-processors on the other hand run a lot hotter than the i5 ones.
Intel said that 90 degrees is still safe, but I personally prefer to keep it below the 90’s to keep it safe.
With all due respect too, Matthias is right.
GPUs can handle (aka survive) way higher temperatures than CPUs.
But 90°C is not a good temperature for either anyway.

That famous “n” word is openly racist, and should get and instant ban without thinking twice. I don’t even understand how someone can defend this unless their are (ab)using that word themself.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
But what happens when some1 is reporting you for being a racist, or you swear and actually you didn’t do any of these things. Will A-net ban you as well or can they see all the things you have typed?
Does the profanity only works in english or in other languages as well?
(Mostly I’m on teamspeak and in dutch, so it’s perfectly save)
Like in other MMORPGs, you can be sure A-Net can review their chat logs and see if you really broke rules or not.
And about the languages… would profanity no longer be profanity just because it’s in another language? You can be sure that if I see someone using racial slurs in one of the languages I know, I will report him (I have zero tolerance for that type of rudeness).

The stock Intel (or AMD too) coolers are utter crap. Get yourself a good third party fan and you’ll be safe.

I find it interesting that the complainers didn’t post their support ticket number as requested.
I applaud ANet for their zero tolerance policy towards rude people, and their effort to try to avoid this game to turn into WoW’s barrens chat. Finally, a MMORPG developer has the courage to do it. It will only make up for a better community at the end. And if you don’t want to be banned… don’t swear! Pretty simple. All normal adults should have that level of self control, specially since this is not spoken language but written language.
