Lol exploit, yeah lets put reveal up so a thief cant stealth at all!!!!!!! oh hang on so what profession shall we call this now, as if this was done he/she wouldnt be a thief. Also if your thick enough to stand there and not dodge or counter you should die. I play a thief and yes its a hard profession to play you cant just whail on players like a warrior/ guardian, you cant produce massive aoe on targets as the ele’s and mes confussions. Our class is to hit hard and run. We are the worst health traited in game for what we do and if we get caught we are good as dead. Reveal stays as it is and just learn to dodge and fight a thief differently from other profs. Once you learn these skills you stand a good chance to survive and escape or turn and show a thief what your prof can do to them.

I would normally agree with you, however, in this video…all that’s shown is the abuse of culling.

Any decent thief can pull it off.

It has nothing to do with the opponent’s inability to dodge (or counter). It’s all just culling being abused severely…to the point, where I’m sure the zerg that was trying to siege was quite frustrated (understandably too).

Oh, and before you start assuming…I play a thief myself. I have abused culling (just like in this video) once in my entire play time, maybe twice (AT MOST)…and personally, I dare not degrade myself to abuse such a broken mechanic again. I would much rather play weak, and underrated builds than abuse broken mechanics to appear “good”.

Change your “Environment” value under Gfx options to “Medium” or higher, and they’ll become visible.

Sorry about that. I understand some people can’t handle the flashing…but, it just felt fine to me.

You should use black powder (or whatever No6 skill is) when they are downed. It’ll make their cc’s useless.

No, to be completely honest, P/P is NOT good at all (especially for sPvP/tPvP). This is coming from someone who plays P/P almost DAILY when bored.

My only complaint was too much screen flashing! It was cool on the intro but during actual gameplay kind of takes away from the video.

Easiest solution would be to change the stealth effect into something like protection for 7~10s, considering thieves have no other way of getting the buff themself. The 90s c/d will make it so it’s not unbalanced in any way…and no one can cry about stealth and culling because it wouldn’t be providing stealth.

U know its funny how thiefs cry that they are broken in some way leaving them weaker then intended, while others cry that thieves are completally OP and impossible to counter. Well this leaves me with just one conclussion: You all are full of kitten, just play the game as it is, couse its just fine.

It is obvious you do not play thief, and if you do, you certainly do not play it competitively enough.

Last refuge, and Instinctual Response are serious issues…especially in PvP. They take the control out of the player’s hand and penalizes them at the most inopportune moments.

This is not my experience at all. I see it everywhere in WvWvW. Secondly, even if it did only affect the people in large groups, it’s still broken.

Zergs are unfair.

Can we nerf zergs please.

I can’t do anything against them and they’re almost perma invis until after I’m dead.

They’re a broken mechanic that is ruining the game.

Zergs disproportionately benefit from the culling bug.

Remove zergs from the game ASAP please!

Anyone who doesn’t think that there are many jerks in MMO games has only to spend a few minutes browsing the WoW forums to have their opinion shattered. Almost every honest inquiry or suggestion is followed by page after page of insulting comments about spec, gear, sexual orientation, or certain exploits with the poster’s mother.

There are those who attempt to wade in and actually provide constructive comments or answers, but the deluge of rude and insulting comments is usually enough to scare off all but the most hardy of posters.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that people are actually so deluded as to think that insulting someone’s in-game character is somehow personally degrading or that people actually take these insults to heart.

It’s a game. Who cares if you don’t like the way I have spec’d my Druid or that I don’t have the free time to spend grinding reputation to obtain that rare companion pet? Like the majority of players, I am here to have a good time, not to impress some self-appointed authority with nothing better to do than scour the armory for reasons to criticize people.

The reality is, these so-called jerks are a very small minority of the total population of any given game. Most people are helpful, normal, well-balanced individuals just looking to get a group together and take down some objective that would be impossible to tackle alone.

Do you know what troll means?…and in what context it is possible to use it?

I’m pretty sure he came from Aion, where he complained continuously about the Ranger class being weak (the class he played, which was ridiculously OP in reality).

If he’s the same one I’m thinking of, he’s fairly clueless and wants easy mode for himself. He also knows only to “troll” (tries very hard at it too), and argues nonsensically with any kind of claim he can come up with, even if it’s untrue…like in this case as you pointed out.

I’m not worried about the “green arrow” on two people (kinda purposely put them there). It’s more so people ignoring that “green arrow”. I was going to put all 80s (had enough of them, some back to back and 2/3v1). However, the fights would have required a longer video…and there would definitely be people claiming P/P is balanced/OP (which it isn’t).

Sorry Kurow, but the deconstruction argument style is not one I enjoy engaging in.

I wouldn’t either if the argument presented contradicted what I was trying to complain about.

Burst is only a problem when there is no counter to perma stealth in WvWvW. You can’t have both at the same time. Don’t trot out the use aoe and dodge nonsense, they aren’t effective counters. Tab target doesn’t work either, sorry.

The culling bug gives thieves much higher than intended advantages. It’s that simple.

Culling is NOT a stealth only issue. It’s the same as me crying about a zerg appearing right on top of me due to culling. Stealth is NOT the issue.

If you wanna cry about culling, take it somewhere else more appropriate. Thief sub-forum is not where it belongs.

Except the thief isn’t invisible all the time, and neither are they the only class that can stealth.

Here’s another hypothetical question:

You are pretty low on money at the moment, and you have to gamble to make ends meet. There is a gym right near where you live that has boxing matches on the weekends. There is a guy who sits at a table in the back room, you can place bets with him. You go up to place your very first bet, it is your last few dollars. You know nothing about either fighters at the moment, so you say to the bookie. Can you tell me about the fighters? The bookie says well one of the fighters is invisible, and can make clones of themself. Which do you choose the visible fighter, or the invisible one that can make multiple copies of themself?

Here’s one more:

Just a video for nothing but fun, and entertainment.

I was a little disappointed at the final result to be honest, because I could not achieve the effects and quality I wanted to. My gfx card/motherboard has been giving me some trouble recently. Any time I attempted to preview, or render the effects I was attempting, the program would freeze and crash. So, I had to settle for less.

I know there was some quality loss near the end. However, after the 30th attempt to render (excluding all the short renders I did along the way, multiple times), I just gave up and settled for what you see.

Hope you enjoy it!

PS: I don’t want anyone trying to justify P/P being “balanced” (or “OP”) by any means by using this video (because that’s NOT what it shows). So, if you’re going to be silly about that notion…kindly use someone else’s video. Thanks!

Numbers are easy to adjust. Stealth can easily consume 1.5 Initiative per second or any other arbitrary numeric change you like.

…Don’t get too hung up on the numbers. They are easy to change.

Then don’t try change the current thief with your ideas…and instead work with numbers.

The Thief has a very low skill floor as in you can be very successful with button mashing. I’d like a higher skill-floor that rewards skillful play more than the current system does.

The thief has a very low skill floor? Is this a joke…or are we talking pug games with casuals who don’t devote, nor care to devote enough time to learn the PvP mechanics, and tactics of the game?

Pistol/Dagger might be more problematic to balance but it would hardly be more OP than it currently is. Currently it can stealth every 3 seconds practically forever.

It can only “stealth every 3 seconds practically forever”…against B-A-D players who treat PvP like PvE, and fail to dodge C&D (an obvious, and S-L-O-W animation).

I use SoM (mostly when I swap to DB spam), SoS (when I’m solo roaming, or traversing), SoA (when I desire condition removal and more crit chance), and IS (almost always in PvE because IMO that extra initiative regen, stun break, and shadowstep is invaluable). However, if SoS is on, SoA is off for me. AS has become fairly useless now because it functions like venoms and the counts for hits are all used up even if the hits miss (obstructed glitch), or are evaded.

I’ve had people kick me yesterday because I’m not a guardian. I laughed really hard at them. It made my day to encounter another ignorant bunch.

Descent of Shadow = useless
Power of inertia = gives only 1 stack of might, not needed if you have Hidden assassin
Vigorous Recovery = not bad, but if you use Hide in shadows it is 10sec of vigor every 30s …
Assassin’s Retreat = i think the “when you kill an enemy” is a poor mechanic

You may play thief, but you certainly are biased against it.

50% is nothing…especially considering it’s affected by cap (or it’s bugged right now, and doesn’t offer 50%). It’s a trait that no one (as far as I know) used. It is pretty bad, just like Improvisation (amongst some others).

Even with this change…VERY FEW (if any) will use it. There’s a lot better selection of traits available compared to this. If you fail to realize this, then you really, truly understand nothing (especially about thief).

Disappointing patch for thief overall.

P/P is still underwhelming because of the lack of changes to the actual 1-3/5 skills.

Being forced to trait certain traits to make P/P somewhat viable is a joke. Traits are supposed to add an enhanced backbone to a viable weapon set. P/P isn’t viable to begin with…and being forced to trait certain traits to attempt to make it viable only leaves you with a limited number of traits to try out different things. 6 initiative for skill 5 is still too much (should easily be lowered to 5).

The use of P/P has had no change for me.

The main reason being the fact that I simply DO NOT use either of the 2 traits. P/P still remains underwhelming compared to any other weapon set.

We should NOT have to be forced to trait specific traits to try make a weapon somewhat viable. Traits are supposed to give it a little enhanced backbone…not be a requirement.

The “buff”, if you can even call it that, to P/P this patch was nothing but disappointment for me.

You dodge his C&Ds, and you immobilize/cripple/chill him and burn him.

You look for black swirls, keep your ears sharp, and you target and repeat. You stun/kd/kb and continue the face roll.

There is one that is much, much more prominent than any others, and that’s the aforementioned VS issue. Everything else is peripheral. You actually do so voluntarily in every single thread, and try pass it off as if that’s the only issue. No one really denied anything you’ve really said regarding Vital Shot.

So, if I were you, I’d focus on trying not to sound like a broken record in every single thread. Doesn’t make you look any better than the complainers, complaining about the same nonsensical bull kitten.

that would be pretty disappointing, has anyone actually done the math to see if its worth applying 5 or 10 vulnerability stacks before doing an unload or just doing 2 to 3 unloads.

2-3 Unloads>5-10 Vuln stack. However, depending on team make up, and your spec, it’s beneficial to do 20 Vuln stack and then an Unload in certain boss fights.

MF gear is quite viable. Anyone telling you otherwise is BSing you.

You can do dungeons perfectly fine with FULL MF gear (assuming it’s all exotics of course).

What ANet does need to address is how much MF affects your chance for loot, and the quality level. They also need to make it work with chests (which they claimed it didn’t work a long time ago). Else, there’s really no incentive to getting MF besides farming events as a zerg at lvl 80 zones.

Well, viewing comments has been disabled and I guess I cannot defend my opinion in a sensible manner because of all of the people that refuse to talk like sensible young adults. Ricochet – Pistol shots have a 33% chance to bounce and hit all targets in area for 25% of that attacks damage and set those targets on fire for 1s. (this is for condition damage pistols.)
“Idea straight from “Torso Shot” in Starwars Galaxies."

Pistol Mastery – Increases Pistol Range to 1200, pistol attacks have a 100% chance to pierce.
“Idea also from Gunslinger.”

Ankle Shots (Change name to Gunslinger.) – Critical hits with a pistols cripple and weaken foes for 1 second, Increases Critical Chance of Pistol Attacks by 5%.
“Got from Gunslinger in SWTOR.”

This would be kind of like how Pistols were in Star Wars Galaxies.

Generalization in what way? Do you understand the meaning of the word “some?” It has a different meaning than the word “all.”

Stealth in GW2 works nothing like any other stealth I’ve seen.

Just because he alt+f4s doesn’t justify why he plays thief. I’ve had guardians alt+f4 on my ele. Yea…explain that. Must be cause he doesn’t like dying. He should have rolled a thief instead of a guardian by your logic.

Good point. Stealth is stronger in this game than those other games due to the frequency of it’s in-combat usage.

Most (look up the definition of this word) of the ALTF4s I’ve personally (keyword here) encountered have been mesmers and thieves who ALTF4 in stealth to try to hide their lameness.

Be my dictionary, and look that word up for me please babycakes. I can’t be bothered.
