lol i never said that those nerfs affected me. not because nothing has changed for you means that those changes are justified. there are other eles who are trying to keep themselves together with their unique build.
And not because some one has other opinion then you do means that they are bad as an ele.

2 skills doesn’t ruin the class, nor any possible build that could involve the 2 skills…especially the specific changes that were implemented.

If you played other classes as you preach, you’d realize that ranger and thief were indeed more mobile than eles even before rtl nerf. Wars have a hard time with swiftness though, so I wouldn’t consider them mobile. Maybe if you decide to go with a boon war so you can keep up Signet of Rage boons they are.

And disregarding hard calculations without any argument besides “but I can’t do it” usually isn’t ta very strong argument.

Yes the Ele looks good on paper but as someone who plays all classes I can say it’s not in reality. You have a serious L2 kitten ue, go and actually play the other classes to understand the real issues, you probably don’t play many of them or you are just a terrible player.

It’s funny how in all of your posts you never provided any kind of information, never offered something to promote discussion or even offer constructive critisism. When you learn proper manners and how to properly have a conversation, eg when you grow up, maybe people will take you more seriously.

I like how you tell me to “grow up” after you assume and claim I’m either “terrible” (lol…cause I’m the one sitting here crying about ele nerfs…right?), or don’t play many classes (possibly ele too – lol), and suggest I go “Learn to Play”. Get bent!

now I know why I am told I am better then most ele’s…because most eles are horrible. Two skills change and the QQ’s of the class is broken. Maybe you are just bad. The class is fine.

Cherish this feeling…you’re one of the rare ones who isn’t terrible at the class.

I find playing a 16000hp ele is no longer fun, but I made a new build with 21500hp yesterday (cantrips) and while you end up making about 20% less damage you do not die at every battle as that was the obvious intention of the nerf. Staying alive longer means you make more damage as well as we all know.

Anyway it’s ridiculous to give 11000 base hp to a class that can only walk around safely in WvW with 20000. They broke the balance so we have to balance the class ourselves.

So yeah, they’ve forced us into making the bunker build they wanted to nerf in the first place.

No i don t need to i can log a thief and press 1111 or use any of tjose 3 OP builds that even thief players predict nerfs of….

I’m so glad I have black belt, else my forehead and face would really be hurting right now.

Answer is yes, thiefs are only roamers now. Before patch 2 thiefs killed full bunker elem in 5 seconds from range right after Ride the Lightning used. Imagine it now. Also Ride the Lightning completly countered by immobilize so even before patch it needed epic scale personal skill to escape. And it was also epic feeling owning all these noobs who cried “Mesmer Portal is OP! They buguse it to kill us!”
Looks like it’s time to switch to thief to continute ownage. RIP ele, u was joy.

I killed numerous thieves yesterday on my ele…your argument is invalid. At this point, I’d go as far as to claim this sub-forum to be the most pitiful, and most filled with bad players.

So why are Thieves allowed to do it? Why are Warriors allowed to do it? Why are Rangers allowed to do it? Why were Elementalists allowed to do it and now aren’t?

I wanted a character that was able to roam solo in WvW. In the end, there were 2 reasons I decided to roll an Elementalist for that:

1) Was the most fun to play for me
2) Thieves were (are) beyond broken due to stealth and initiative mechanics and I excpected them to get nerfed into Oblivion so I thought I’d be better off sticking with a GW1 core class as they wouldn’t destroy such an iconic class as hard (ye, silly me,kittenck my life)

8 month later, the devs are now tellling me I’m not allowed to roam anymore. How’s that fair? I’m the last to complain about reasonable balance changes, but when they strip an entire aspect of my class, especially the one that made me create that character in the first place, then I’m up in arms.

If you let them get away, that’s your problem. Nobody’s “allowed” to do it. Sounds like more learn to play issue.

…and you said it yourself…you picked ele because you thought it wouldn’t get nerfed (even if it was overpowered), because it used to be a core class in gw1. Well, the joke’s on you now since ANet was smart enough to take the right course of action.

To get things started, I rolled my Ele when the general opinion was they are useless and suck kitten So much for the overpowered part.

Are you really implying Eles had an easier time escaping than e.g. Thieves? Because Thieves only escape when you allow them to, while Eles have like, what, an inherent ability to escape any situation at will regardless of what the opponent(s) is/are doing? Hands down, that is a massive learn 2 play issue.

I have both an 80 ele, and a thief (amongst other classes). I can disengage on both. You, wanting a god mode class makes you look TERRIBLE. You should perhaps go play a single player RPG if that is what you seek.

Can I run away from a couple of guys? Not really, unless I juke real good and they don’t pay attention.

Well, I guess there’s different definitions of effective roaming then. Regardless of class, when 10 enemies appear nearby, and – given enough time to react properly – I have no chance of escaping them, I’m not effectively roaming by my standards.

Side note: You’re claiming Mesmers are only decent roamers when speccing for it, while Eles seem to get everything for free. You do realise roaming D/D Eles did HEAVILY spec for exactly that? Running 3 utilities that all can be used to escape, and getting yourself locked into the only weapon set (remember, no weapon swap for Eles) that offers the needed mobility but is exclusively melee range is ‘getting everything for free’? Really? I mean, I don’t like calling people names, but… ah, whatever.

And with all that somehow a change to Ride the Lightning brought you on your knees? Must have been a pretty overpowered ability then if it was all that held your kitten together, eh?

Mist Form and Lightning Flash are suddenly useless? Want more? Take Fiery GS and whirl around ftw…

Are you really that dumb? One of the key aspects of roaming is mobility. That’s what RTL provided. They took it away -> they killed roaming. Everything else still works like it did before (except for Mist Form obviously, lol), doesn’t matter tho because they took away one of the KEY ASPECTS. Is it really that hard to understand? Do you have a driver’s licence? Own a car? If I took the motor away from your car, would it still work? No? WHAT KIND OF NOOB CAR IS THAT, I MEAN, IT STILL HAS WHEELS, BRAKES AND FUEL, DOESN’T IT?!

And yeah, getting away from 10 people (even 50, for that matter) while not being in combat yet is one of my standards for effective roaming (Newsflash: there’s even classes that manage to pull such stuff while IN combat). But again, standards vary. A garbage player might be glad to barely get away from a single opponent on his ‘roaming’ build. I have different standards.

So basically you want to tell me that having less CD on one ability made all the difference for you in being able to run away from 10 people or not?

What you basically say is your whole build did not matter – only this weapon one ability?

I think you need to lower your “standards” a bit down to earth… you know, just to where all the other 95% of the guys in WvW are. If just that change is what turned your escaping from the “pro” quality to “garbage player” quality, then maybe you are not really that pro, but were instead carried by that ability?

I’ll vary it a little: If I took away the wheels from your car but left the motor in, would it work? No? If I gave you back the motor and the wheels, but took the fuel out, would it still work? No? Something’s ringing yet? Of course the other parts of the build do matter. There’s stability, damage reduction, invulnerability, condition removal. All stuff you need to reliably escape tricky situations. All that stuff doesn’t matter tho without mobility (or stealth, but last time I checked Eles didn’t have access to that). RTL was the thing that provided the mobility. Just like wheels on your car get that whole thing rolling. And yes, twice the CD + a 20% range reduction (for some reason people always seem to forget about that one) make all the difference.

And no, I don’t need to lower my standards. When I am better than 95% of the other guys in WvW, then I can afford to have higher standards than 95% of the other guys. Makes sense to me.

If you are better than 95% of the other guys in WvW then what’s your problem exactly? You are a good player, surely you can try harder, right?

I also like how the “pros” are crying about an OBVIOUS bug fix with the range…as if the 1550 range was ever intended.

People need to stop opening their threads with comments like “This is not a whine thread”…or similar, when the reason for the thread and the contents of the post clearly contradict it.

Reading these ele complaint threads is only making my face hurt more and more. I have an ele, and I barely…if at all, felt any effect of the changes. I direly hope ANet does NOT cater to the BAD players who are still crying over the changes, as it will only put eles back to where they were (completely and utterly unbalanced).

That’s what WvW is. Now you feel what other classes have been feeling for months. Welcome to a somewhat BALANCED ele.

This patch was a step in the right direction from ANet, and I sincerely hope they do NOT cater to BAD players like some of you.

I swear…if I could spam “shut up and learn to play” on every single thread that’s popped up complaining about the changes to ele post update, and get away with it…I would.

You talking about a specific build with maximized stats. Guardians do the same and no one complains. For the rest of staff elementalist playing the game “normally” we have no way to survive anymore besides staying behind everyone else.

I took on 4 people yesterday + people who respawned and joined in on my ele, without ever dropping below 75% hp…yep…my ele is very weak. Can you please reverse the nerfs ANet. I shouldn’t be dropping below 95% hp.

@sakazuky: the problem is that what may be okay for sPvP puts WvWvW Elementalist in a coffin.

Completely agree. There is more than one type of mobility. The problem with elementalists (RTL specifically) in sPvP was they had too much burst mobility, which in a small map is very significant. After the patch, little has changed in this regard, as burst mobility is still strong. You will probably not need a second RTL to disengage from most fights.

In WvW, however, being able to increase/reduce the distance between you and practically any other class by 1200 is meaningless, because sustained mobility is now rubbish for elementalists.

In a sustained race (as is often the case in WvW), an elementalist would be incapable of chasing or escaping from anyone but the slowest of opponents under current circumstances. This might be fine for a guardian, but a fragile-by-nature class like this requires mobility to even have a chance at survival. This change is more than number tweaking: it affected a class mechanic which is vital, unless compensated for in some other way.

Play some other classes, and then complain about mobility.

Honestly, I just can’t stop laughing at people in this sub-forum.

-0.2 seconds on weapon swap time
Fast Hands changed to “First three attacks after swapping weapons always crit”.

You’d be able to max out at 3 second weapon swap time (with rune of the soldier) for maximum versatility. I’d even say it would be OP.

Only problem I see is that it might be a slight nerf to warriors only taking around 15-20 points in Discipline because Fast Hands is a flat -5.

Do you know what it means to have guaranteed crits…especially on a class like warrior…let alone on weapon swaps?

Yes. It’s pretty kittening good. You can run durable and do far more damage than you deserve to do. And it’s pretty clear that warrior is pretty kittening bad. Everyone else is saying “warrior needs more sustain!” or something like that, but that’s taking away the classe’s niche of hitting hard consistently, it just makes them into a psuedo guardian.

Of course, if it’s really that bad only next hit critting is also okay.

Yea…I’d love to have guaranteed 2-3 shots all the time…..

I recently started doing pvp because of the dailies. Still have mixed feelings about pvp, but I have some form of respect for it now that i didn’t earlier.

However with this update, bye bye Anet. Not gonna consume time for just lousy achievements.

Your reason for doing stuff in a game should be for fun, not to just tick a box

It’s really fun to miss out on the laurels…you know…the ones you can ONLY get once per day IF you do the daily…yep!

The only really viable quickness atm it’s tw cause it has no debuffs (Even with ages of cd) so it’s still worth it, for everything else giving a bad malus for nerfed quickness it’s probably not so good, expec if you have to drop other important ut skills for it…

Kudos to A-net for starting to slide in the aoe nerfs they mentioned months ago. Thief Shortbow and now this. Wonder if there are others people just haven’t caught on to yet.

I prefer the version where : Beacause Thiefs dont have cds on their weapons , they have to choose between spent their resources to do damage or use it for survibility :P

Considering that the previous daily could be done in like, 5 minutes, I don’t see the issue. I still think the dailies are easy to do, personally, and I’m a bunker warrior.

It’s not about them being easy or hard.

It’s time consuming. Time that could be better spent elsewhere in or out of the game.

Trick shot needed no buffs, nor changes…it was perfect…and now it’s kitten.

Not sure what made ANet decide to touch a perfectly fine, and balanced skill.

What they STILL need to fix/buff is pistol 1, and p/p in general.

I can’t tell if you didn’t read at all or are actually stupid. I strongly suggest you actually read the thread, especially the paragraph that starts with “In case you, the reader”.

Considering Mug does kitten for damage, unless you trait as a glass cannon, yea…it’s a massive nerf to the other builds that try make use of this trait for a little help with their damage.

You’re moving into WvW without reaching above level 22 and you think your gear and level are the big barriers to being competitive? Level to 80 in WvW, in that time you will learn the basics of the arena, become familair with your server guilds, commanders and coverage times and accumulate enough badges to be well on your way to having a full set.

Already it’s easier to obtain some skins and stats via WvW than it is in normal PvE, I don’t want more incentives to abandon PvE for PvP arenas. WvW uses PvE gear, you shouldn’t be earning PvE gear in PvP.

Expecting them to treat WvW the same as sPvP shows how little you understand the purpose of WvW. I can’t buy sPvP gear with PvE currency, it shouldn’t be the other way around.

You are acting as if there even are any reasons to do sPvP over PvE. If it’s about “showing off armor” which is supposedly the endgame for GW2 you can’t even do that. You can’t walk around in your armor earned in sPvP in a big city or something. Also, you can’t transmute it onto PvE gear. The only “showing off” you can do as a sPvPer is to those 5 people in Heart of the Mists.

They need to integrate the different game modes more so people actually interact with each other rather than keeping it completely separate. I’m sure it’s doable without giving any unequal advantage to someone (For example requiring a certain rank before you can wear your armor in PvE world, and having PvP and PvE sets separate) That way you only get people that have put in the amount of time that it takes to get exotics anyways to walk around in PvP armor

If that is the case, then you certainly understand that PvE players want their PvE skins to be usable in sPvP…right? Okay good!

PvE players get to use all their skins in sPvP, and sPvP players get to use all their skins in PvE after a certain rank. Sounds like a glorious plan!

“Perma” stealth is only achievable if you spec that way…making your damage laughable.

Also, sitting in stealth does nothing for you. However, while you sit in stealth, you can get bombarded by AoEs and attacks.

Currently, thieves are one of the worst classes in this game pvp-wise. As for the issues with elementalist, mesmer, and ranger…I can’t disagree with those.

frenzy and bullscharge cd reduced to 20 seconds and frenzy no longer applys 50% more damage debuff, hundred blades gives invulnerability and tranfers 1 condition on hit, the effect of cripple and chill on warriors gap closers is 50% less effective.
OR bind frenzy and bullscharge into 1 elite skill on a 45 sec cd like basilisk venom. that would free up space for warrior to use immobilizers in the utilities.

warrior and ele’s banners and conjured weapons now work like engis kits.

engis turrets are now on a remote control and follow the engie wherever he goes.

Sigil of battle gives 2 stacks of might instead of 3 on a 25 sec cd instead of 20.

necros teleport minion is now an instant cast.

nerf on ele healing outside bunker spec. rearrage of eles traits, put powerful traits further in the trait line.

Rest i want/expect is just small changes to traits weapon skills to make other builds viable for all classes.

I can take almost none of that seriously.

From what I’ve seen, I like approximately two of the hammers in the game:
Ghastly Hammer (from Ascalonian Catacombs) and
Kodan Hammer (from HotW)

… on my asura guardian they are all way too small.

I had no problem with the straightforwardness of the maps and directions. So, I don’t think this is necessary.

3 in almost every team, good ones nearly impossible to catch and kill and bad ones still put out 4-5k crits with heart seeker and dont even get me started on the skilled dual pistol build.

Class requires almost no effort
