You may get reasonable performance lowering your resolution to the setting just below the one you are using in the image above. Sorry, my hubs has the MBPr and he is not currently home for me to get the exact #; he plays on an external monitor too at times, but always has ~60fps, never less than ~45fps in cities, medium~high settings.

If you find the tp text gets ugly and near unreadable, turn best texture filtering on and it will clear it right up.

Kyllaa.1385

I noticed this effect on a greatsword Mesmer during the bazaar of the 4 winds. It was the only time I have seen it and it was only on this one character. As far as I could tell, she was wearing the T3 human cultural armour, but these giants squares were so obtrusive, I couldn’t see much else. At times I could see a face appearing on the strange cubes, but this was nearly impossible to screenshot. The cubes acted like refractive prisms. Her clones/phantasms had them too.

I have not seen them since on any other character. I have the Radiant gloves on one of my characters and I’ve never once seen this happen on her.

Verify if your firewall is on/active, test with it disabled if it is on.

Restart modem/router. Restart comp.

As a thought… I had this issue a few weeks back (before cut throat politics sometime, so maybe more) and my fix was essentially this:

Restart client about 10 times, then restart comp, restart client once or twice more… Bingo!

That was my lazy fix because I didn’t want to delete the folder and re-enter my password lol. I ended up doing it later for another issue and haven’t had any issues since.

Hope this helps, post back please

Glad you have the latest drivers now, but they don’t typically cause the issue you are having.

Typically, this issue is caused by inadequate power supply, faulty hardware, or overheating.

I can’t seem to find your power supply unit listed above, for your vid card, it recommends a min 450w. I couldn’t find much on your system, but if you added anything to it or upgraded or overclocked, you may be suffering from inadequate power.

Is your CPU overclocked at all?

Maybe run a memtest.

Or try updating your bios.

Constant crashing... Help?

in Account & Technical Support

Kyllaa.1385

Ashley posted this today, it may even help mentalmicky to an extent since it might give him something to look into:

““*—> Crash <—*
Out of Memory: arena=Environment, cat=Prop Packfile, allocBytes=10396684, arenaBytes=71425224, fallbackBytes=62304, align=0 , "

This may also be tied to that green/blue issue that you’re seeing in game, but as far as I can tell this has usually been an issue with a failing graphics card.

For the crash issue – there may be some workarounds that have worked with other players. One solution presented by players being affected by this is to change the “Maximum pre-rendered frames” in the Nvidia control panel. To do this:

1. Right-click on your desktop and select “Nvidia Control Panel.”

2. Select "Manage 3D Settings.

3. Scroll down until you find “Maximum pre-rendered frames” and change it from “Use the 3D application settings” to “1.”

Once completed, click “Apply” to save your changes and try Guild Wars 2 again.

Aside from this, the only other thing that may resolve these crash issues for you would be to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system."

Found this for you, hopefully it helps you resolve this:

Error Code 42 x x x x
(example – 42:0:9001:3858:101)

“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com.”

If you are running security software such as Norton, AVAST, AVG, or McAfee, please try temporarily disabling the software. If this does not work, you might also try adjusting the ‘security’ setting within the firewall settings. Lowering this setting to ‘medium’ or ‘low’ will often clear up connection issues.

In the event that adjusting the security settings does not resolve the issue, please try temporarily uninstalling the security software completely. If this does resolve the issue, please contact the software manufacturer for instructions on how to configure it correctly if you wish to reinstall it.

In addition, Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. For further information about opening ports or port forwarding, you can visit the following website: http://www.portforward.com Please note, this site is not affiliated with or supported by NCSOFT or ArenaNet.

If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.

First things first, you are using 32bit windows (somehow, I missed looking at your crash log, my apologies, just checked it now), this is probably you’re problem.

There is just not enough memory to run the game there after this latest patch. 32bit windows can only recognise up to 3.25~3.5gb of ram plus it needs a sizable chunk for itself.

I can post an option other with 32bit are trying, but because your system is only using 3gb of ram, this may or may not help you, but you can try it. (I’ll edit the end of this post with it).

While running gw2, try closing all extraneous program, even those in the background. The easiest way is to do this is to run msconfig, disable all startup programs, restart comp, test gw2. You can re-enable by repeating these steps and restarting. This may or may not help in the end.

"
Okay, try this (quoted from another user):
"
Those of you on 32 bit operating systems can try adding the 3 gig memory switch. I don’t know if this works on Windows 7, but it will on XP and Vista. I have no way of knowing if this will solve your GW2 ‘out of memory’ issues, but it [theoretically] will.:

http://www.vfxpedia.com/index.php?title=FAQ/3GB_Switch

Edit: Ignore the stuff about “DFX+/Fusion cache limit” it has nothing to do with GW2.

This would probably be better on the Mac forum since we get slightly different issues than pc.

Login to router, check settings.

You need the router’s IP address and it’s password. Find security feature or firewall or whatever your router uses depending on brand, have a play with the options, but don’t just change stuff randomly, you could really break things. Look up the manual for your router.

connection issues

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Kyllaa.1385

Kyllaa.1385

I’m definitely seeing some connection issues, 2 local nodes on your route aren’t playing nice. And you were unable to establish connection with a couple auth servers.

I’m noticing you have some antivirus and other bits running, after the initial queen’s jubilee patch several others reported that the game was triggering antivirus software again and others report that it happens with each new build.

You can try to disable it temporarily and test.

Or better yet, run msconfig, disable all startup programs, restart comp, test gw2 extensively. If no connection issues, then it’s time to narrow down the culprit(s). You can easily re-enable all by repeating the steps, remember to restart.

If this doesn’t help, please review the error codes link I posted above and have a play with the error code 58 stuff or check your router for the ports listed on code 7, make sure they are unrestricted.

You may need to contact your ISP to make sure they didn’t suddenly start blocking ports.

If none of this works, send this game advisor report in with your ticket, they may understand what is happening… Or maybe the winsock reset would help, but I can’t be 100% certain. Usually Ashley knows when to recommend that and how to do it.

A good rule of thumb on 32bit OS, if you know an app is memory/resource intensive, don’t tempt fate by running a lot of extraneous programs, web browsers included (also hoggish lol).

It sucks! But these are just the limitations of having so little ram available.

Tot, still need more info, please re-read my post above. (If running 2 cards, try disabling one)

Solomod, have you tried the latest vid card drivers (320.49) or were these (314.22) just the most stable for you? Are you running any overclocking, if so, set back to factory settings and test. Have you considered testing your ram for failing hardware? If none of this works, have you tried running msconfig, disabling all startup programs, restart comp, test game? If no crashes, it’s time to figure out what app/program is conflicting. You can re-enable later using msconfig again, re-enabling, restarting.
