Here are some useful instructions… Make sure to click on the red words to see more info.
Without knowing more than the basic of what you posted, try running a repair.
If that doesn’t help, please post your complete system specs. Also, locate your crash logs, named arenanet.log under my documents/guild wars 2. Export that file as a .txt then post using more posting & formatting options below.
You’re in great hands now! Good luck!
Nope, it’s just limited by your Internets’ bandwidth. If you have a 15mb/s download connection, gw2 shows that as roughly ~1.6MB/s.
Note the capital and lowercase…capital=bytes, lowercase=bits.
No worries! point/counter-point lol
Vicious, It’s not a big deal for everyone, but not everyone has a top spec comp like you have.
I personally don’t have a problem with the Mac client, but it doesn’t run as well on all systems. And, it’s insanely obvious how much better it runs on bootcamp.
Also, sometimes, when they “fix” something on the pc client, it innately breaks something on the Mac due to the wrapper and such.
I personally can run the gw2 client while having photoshop, illustrator, dream weaver, a browser with at least 10 tabs, sometimes 2 browsers for testing, plus iTunes, several finder windows and activity monitor going without any issues, but those machines running 4gb aren’t so lucky. Gw2 uses more than 1.5 gb of memory alone plus one of 4 cores (on a 4 core system), plus another ~.3 gb for the wrapper, it’s not always as easy sailing for lower specs. It’s very obvious then and most of these systems are minimally upgradable.
So, I imagine that would be why more peeps are wanting a native client.
I personally just want us to have a nice support base that is dedicated to helping us get any issues we have fixed and maybe get us out of beta and running like civilised peeps. People just want the same support as the pc peeps for the product they paid for!
Frisky, do you have the istat widget? If not, get it and test your system temps after running the client for about 15 mins. Please open a new topic and post your cpu & gpu temps so we can help you get back on track!
Okay, if it doesn’t work, hopefully another tech minded person will pop on.
This could be bad ram. Try a memtest, however, this doesn’t always find the issue if there is one. Since we don’t know how much ram you are running, nor can we see your full crash report, it’s hard to say specifically or help you troubleshoot completely.
You might want to consider exporting your crash log as a .txt file and posting it here. Your crash log should be located under my documents/guild wars 2, called arenanet.log. You can post it using more posting & formatting options below.
Also, possibly a game advisor report might help too.
Exactly what ExTrib said.
Ah nice! Thank you for posting that!
Use a VPN. I think that is your only option to bypass your isp’s settings.
That’s typical.
You should come visit us on the Mac forums, we have a dedicated support tech now and he may be able to shed some light for you.
This is known, it’s actually stated on the wiki.
Usually, you can just try known patterns and eventually you can get it.
However, that is an interesting bit of info Disturbia.
I think this is a bug they can’t pinpoint.
However, many have found that lion’s arch causes these problems, sometimes moving to a lower population city helps. Some work in DR others in RS. Try it out and see how you go.
Typically lion’s arch is bad news for any form of guild management. But I can’t explain the “wrong info displayed” issue other than some type of transmission lag. I’ve had my guild panel tell me someone is online, but I know they logged off 5 minutes before… It usually catches up after a few minutes.
Unless you guys are ALL from he same server and different guilds… Then it could be a server related issue and with any luck would be fixed after the reset patch.
I just got mine last week or so. I had done this in the past with no luck previously, but didn’t think much about it.
I recently did it again and I didn’t get it (finished with bronze on the chick). While I was just insisting my exploration of the map, the pre-event started. I hopped over and completed them. This time I made sure to get ample damage as soon as she became targetable, then while she goes below deck, I just went to where the chest spawns and waited for her. She popped up and I did as much damage as I could and finished with gold… And I got the achieve then too.
I was partied with 2 peeps I was helping with this event pre-chain and they got it too… So it seems completely random when it happens.
You can’t have any mails from the gem store in your box and it helps to delete all the others from hearts, herald/dungeons, exploration, and personal story.
I had the free hat (from launch) sitting in my mailbox and once I removed all the other emails and that one, I got the achieve… And had about 50 other mails in queue. Oops!
Bummer! Sorry to hear this. Perhaps you should file a ticket. I know many experience this, so hopefully working with someone personally could help get this fixed in the future.
Are you trying to access from Lion’s Arch? Some have said going to DR or RS (or anything other than LA) helps fix this.
Make sure to delete in game mails, this includes hearts, dungeons/herald, exploration, personal story, gem store purchases, free gifts emails.
The only emails you should have in your inbox are personal emails from players, the icons are the envelopes.
Sometimes, if you can trigger one, both will pop.
Anyway, hope it helps.
Awesome to hear a positive experience!
Care to share a screenshot of your issue and the solution the support team gave you to maybe help others with the same problem? It would be great!
There are many threads on this.
Sometimes it’s drivers, you may want to make sure you have the latest versions.
If you are running dual cards, have you tested it with just one? (You noted “graphics cards”)
You can try running a client repair, but I’m not sure it will help.
Sometimes it helps to have a game advisor report. You can post it with more posting & formatting options below.
Is this wireless or wired?
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
Pick an error code and look at the ports that gw2 uses and make sure yours are open.
You will want to make sure your antivirus/firewalls have exceptions made for gw2. (Including on your modem/router). It’s possible, since you last played, anet has changed some settings with port handling.
Interesting thought… Underwater pet swapping!
Have you run the repair that it recommends yet?
Btw, it does seem you are having some connection issues as well, but start with repair, if that doesn’t help then please post how you are connected to the Internet…. Wireless or wired, private/home or public/university.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
For starters, I want to guess this is a laptop. The problem I see is an integrated video card being used over the discrete card. I believe I saw a GeForce 540M somewhere in there. So, I’d start there. Get your computer to use that rather than the intel hd graphics chip.
I don’t know how to do this on pc though. On Mac it’s a power saving feature.
Please post your crash log or arenanet.log (usually under my documents/guild wars 2), export it as a .txt file, then attach it using more posting & formatting options below.
You may also need to temporarily disable antivirus/firewalls or create exceptions.
Let us know how you go.
Okay, if o are having issues with both gw1 and 2, there is definitely an issue in your Internet setup somewhere. (Not blaming ISP lol)
Pease tell me, are you connected wirelessly or wired right to modem?
Can you post the results of a game advisor report please?
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
I’m hoping another awesome person will read it as well and could help find out what’s up.
You can try and delete the local.dat file (under my documents/guild wars 2). Then load the game.
If that doesn’t help, could you check to see if you have arenanet.log (same location stated above), if there is anything listed, export this log as .txt and post it here using more posting & formatting options below.
You can try running a diagnostic by appending -diag just like doing repair. Post that too.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
The cache is not under your gw2 folder, it’s under some temp folder. See wayland’s post above.
Deleting the cache works for some.
Making sure ports are open on your router/modem (as listed in the link below, make sure to click on one of the error codes):
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
Creating exceptions on antivirus/firewall softwares helps sometimes too.
You could also try this to fix the issue:
1. Open your trading post (leave this open until finished)
2. Open your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading post
This fixes all sorts of odd tp issues… All sorts! (Not everything, but a lot) On Mac, ths creates a gamma bug that is easily fixed by moving the gamma slider around, but no probs on pc.
Post back and let us know how you go and what worked or not.
Have you tried it while the active pet is “dead”?
Can you get a screenshot of this?
What processor?
Have you tried a repair yet?
Are you running the client as administrator?
Post your system specs and crash log (usually arenanet.log under my documents/guild wars 2), export as a .txt and post here using more posting & formatting options below.
He needs to make sure to run as administrator.
He should run disk check on the hard drive and maybe even memtest. (For extended troubleshooting, take out 1 stick of ram, run game for test if crashing, swap ram sticks, test again and/or test a different hard drive).
May need to verify no conflicting programs. Run msconfig, disable all startup programs, restart computer, test gw2 for crashes. If no crash, a program is conflicting, time to figure out which.
This is just a start, without knowing everything about your friend’s setup.
Hope it helps. Post back and let us know how he goes.
Maybe others will post some ideas for you too.
I downloaded the latest version about a month ago or so… I’ll edit this post shortly after I get on my comp and check.
LCC version 3.7.0
Mouse: V450 nano cordless laser mouse for notebooks.
Addendum: before I updated this (maybe 1-2 months ago), I was losing mouse and HALF of my keyboard functionality… Yeah, I could still use some keys, but lost use of the inner keys and I may have lost my trackpad as well, but I cannot recall that clearly. I don’t think I’ve had that during the last month. I have not been able to duplicate the situation though.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Lol, I’m trying to read these but falling asleep. So I can try to look tomorrow or, with any luck, some awesome person will get it before me.
Sorry!
They just did maintenance today, maybe try clearing your gw2 cache?
Try closing some processes and background programs down and then run the game. The easiest way to ensure this is running msconfig, disable all startup programs, then restart computer… Test gw2. You can re-enable them and restart afterwards if you still crash.
You might want to post a diagnostic report by appending -diag to the end of your shortcut (like running a repair).
Or running game advisor. http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
You can post those as .txt files by using more posting & formatting options below.
Figlilly, yes, those are both common issues unfortunately… And the sticky keystroke still occurs constantly lol.
This seems to be an on and off issue for some. I’m not sure if a fix has been found and if there has been, no one posts back to confirm it lol.
A few bits you could also try:
Double check your antivirus/firewall settings for the gw2 ports
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994
I’m not going on error codes, just use it for reference or the ports.
Make sure you’re running the program as administrator.
You can test this set up steps, but I don’t think it will fix the issue, but hey, never hurts to try:
1. Open your trading post (leave this open until finished)
2. Open your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading post
If you’re on a Mac, this will create a gamma issue that’s easily fixed, but if pc, carry on.
If you are on a public/university Internet connection, you may not have any control over this.
You can also try to connect over a VPN and see if it works.
I’m not sure if any of this will help, but post back if any of these suggestions did fix it or not. However, if not, you may need to open a support ticket and get personalised help.
Good luck and follow up.
Awesome
Report a bug does not get you a response, try this:
Then you should hear something back.
I use a Logitech wireless mouse with the LCC and I don’t have any issues currently, as mentioned previously.
How odd. Some time back, I had my USB ports stop functioning after closing the game. I think it happened twice, I had to restart to fix… But this was rare and hasn’t happened since. I have an MBP 15" late-2011, same specs, but 10.7.
Perhaps, if this is still happening to you guys (and consistently reproducible), you should definitely file a ticket and get some personalised attention on this. I’ll poke around my Mac settings too, but I’m not sure why this would occur for some and not others.
Maybe Luis will have some thoughts too.
As a note, when I want to close the game, I use esc to pull up the options menu, choose logout, once on char select screen, I use the X in top right corner to close game. No issues with this lately.
If these are old blueprints from before they became tradable, then you need to pick up/purchase/receive a tradable version while these old ones are in your inventory to trigger them to become unbound.
I had to take my stacks of items to WvW and use badges (or gold) to buy one of each regular blueprint, then I could finally trade them or sell them.
I heard you could also drop the bundle and pick them up again, but it was just as easy for me to waste the badges and clear a stack all at once. Not sure how the dropping works.
It took me 2 tries to get it myself. First time, I got bronze and no credit for achieve. The 2nd time this event chain popped I had just completed exploration of the zone and did the event. I followed her from the first location, wailed as much damage as I could, skipped following here under the ship and waited at her 3rd location and wailed again. This time, I got gold and achieve
Jenny doesn’t typically die on the event, especially with a large # of participants, she survived the 1st time I didn’t get the achieve. The wiki states this is sometimes bugged though.
Not everyone has $100 to buy a motherboard, but if you have a failing piece of hardware, it’s going to fail eventually, creating a necessity to replace.
Gw2 just has an uncanny way of pushing a system to the limit causing this failing hardware to make itself known finally.
It’s unfortunate many people are in denial about that… Computer components don’t last forever lol, they can die.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Have you run game advisor yet? Or -diag to create a diagnostic file?
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
For a diagnostic, append the -diag to the end of the shortcut path/target just like you do for -repair, then post the file it outputs here.
