I see the current direct x in the diagnostic report, so that’s cool.
However, it looks like you’re using WDDM 1.1 drivers, you may need to update your drivers also.
If you have any issues after you install or sometime in the future, try this link first:
If you have any issues after this, post a new thread on here and give us as much info as possible (mac system and system specs, troubleshooting steps tried, error codes, etc). Search this forum though, we have a lot of good tips and suggestions on the different threads. Even fixes for non-loading trading post stuff.
Welcome to the game!
As a note for Luis:
We need to get this page updated for Mac users since many don’t know to come here on first thought and if our gw2.dat file gets corrupted (by an odd chance) how are they oing to know to check the package contents and will renaming the file work the same way it does for pc? Also, repair instructions need to be added for Mac:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8981
Thanks!
You might have a problem with your USB hub, try connecting directly into your comp with these 2 devices and test it again.
Is your hub independently powered or is it only powered by the USB port?
Frisky, you may want to check for overheating or something because most of us don’t get it that bad. Also, make sure you set your system to disable graphics switching under power saving settings.
The Mac client is far from perfect, and the cider wrapper hogs resources like no other, but it is playable on most systems… Even mini’s from 2009… Just barely on 13 inch MBP though lol.
You may need to check the settings of your modem/router.
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
Try that. I use QoS rather than port forwarding, but you have to verify that these ports are accessible.
You may need to disable antivirus or firewalls on your comp or make exceptions for gw2.
Try these and post back how you go.
You may need to update your direct x.
Have you run the repair as requested?
You may need to check your router/modem settings. Unless you are on a public/university account, they may have changed something or are blocking ports.
Can you run a repair? Have you tried deleting the local.dat file (usually under my documents/guild wars 2)?
Is your windows login account an administrator account?
List what system you’re on and how your keyboard is connected to your system please.
Post your system specs and export your arenanet.log as a .txt file and post it here using more posting & formatting options below.
Thanks Luis!
Are you connected to your Internet through a USB wireless device?
I also see a few connection issues in the diagnostic with some packet loss. It’s actually not even posting the routing path, unless you cleared that.
Perhaps try connecting to your modem directly and testing it, or you can try this also:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
Almost any code will show you which ports need to be open. I use QoS rather than port forwarding.
Let us know how you go after trying the suggestions posted Ilithis and myself.
Atmo, try downloading the latest drivers, there were some “known issues” with 320.18.
If you can export as a .txt, you can use the more posting & formatting options below to attach it. Like for your image
You may want to check firewall settings and verify your port settings. As a reference for ports:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes
This tells you which ports to check.
This might be better served on the suggestions forum. I don’t believe this is Mac specific.
Could you post what Mac you are on plus your system specs?
Also, test out the game with various settings to see if this improves at all. (I.e. different camera options, lower graphics settings, lower resolution setting, etc) I can’t be more specific without knowing what you are working with.
We definitely need more description of at least one of these problems to help you.
Why can’t you sell? What are your “symptoms”? What happens when you try to mail something? Can you manually hit compose and type a name? (I noticed a recent bug with right click-send mail, hence my question)
Also, answer Ilithis.
Wehave no clue what is going on or how to help.
I agree with Abomally, now that I see your issue, this doesn’t seem like a graphics glitch.
Post your crash logs as described above. And tell us your CPU.
There is a setting in the options panel to have esc close windows in game or not. If that is disabled, esc will pull up the system options (option, report a bug, log out, etc).
If that doesnt fix it, test your esc key in another program, it coud be your keyboard or region setting or something.
It’s possible this could be faulty memory or even motherboard. The memory usage displayed is excessively low! (especially for gw2) But there is something of note in the most recent crash… (6/13/13 very last one on file), Load:97% however, it seems during this time the system processes is running higher than previous crashes (78). Cache usage is exceedingly high also (maxed), but it’s not actually using your ram. This is what is most likely generating your out of memory error.
Something is definitely wonky, but I wouldn’t be so fast to blame gw2 since this isn’t happening for others.
Try running an msconfig and disabling all startup programs, then reboot. Test gw2. You can re-enable afterwards. (you were using a program called overwolf at one time and it seemed to cause crashes for you, it’s possible another piece of software is causing these memory problems)
You may want to check your windows event viewer and see if anything correlates with your crashes and system usage.
You may have picked up a nasty virus/Trojan/worm.
Open the chassis and make sure your memory sticks are seated well in their slots. Remove them and replace to be certain. Maybe something to jarred when you swapped vid cards and it took a bit to cause problems.
Perhaps your power supply isn’t good enough now, what wattage is yours?
Another tool that we (or Anet) should have would be a diagnostic test. Append the -diag tag to your repair shortcut (instead of repair) and post the text file here that that generates for you. That will help with troubleshooting this issue too. Do it right after a crash like this without restarting your system.
If you need to restart your comp to fix the mem issue, chances are, it’s not exclusively a gw2 problem.
Lastly, it’s a pretty lame idea to insult and assume fanboy status of the people who are… You know… trying to help YOU. Most of us who have posted have been helping on these forums for some time now and have seen most of these issues (not identically due to the variation of pc setups) and 90% of the time, or more, it’s a hardware issue. We aren’t towing the line, we’re trying to help.
Gw2 is an interesting beast in that it has an uncanny way of finding hardware that is on the verge of failing. This isn’t ideal, but it isn’t a terrible thing. Find another game that runs on an engine like this and compare it… Not Skyrim.
Skim around this forum on the crashing threads most times you will see that it’s resolved by replacing a faulty hardware, sometimes it’s a software conflict though. Or a bum install of windows. It sounds like your system has had faulty memory or motherboard for sometime and it finally kicked it… Your system is trying to compensate by using page files and such. Or your windows install is jacked and has messed up your memory allocation or something like that (don’t use windows much), also check your bios. Then again, maybe it’s a virus. Always keep an open mind when troubleshooting!
Edit:lol just read abomally’s post, I had to walk away while writing this and missed it. So, there it is.

Also, maybe run a disk check on your harddrive.
I think this is happening to others possibly, it may not be mac isolated.
I can usually stop this by hitting the skill that is flashing.
I know location doesn’t matter, but some are a pain to find lol.
Try this:
1. Open your trading post (leave this open until finished)
2. Open your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading post
This fixes a lot of tp issues. Post back if it helped. If you are on a Mac, it will initiate a gamma bug, but if not, you’re fine.
I think this happens sometimes if you are in mid-attack while the baddie you are killing dies. You will probably notice the skill you were using is flashing (but not always). Sometimes youcan fixthe “pose” by using the skill you were using when you vogued. Happens to me all the time.
Usually you should post the whole crash log plus your system specs if you want real help. You can export your arenanet.log (located under my documents/guild wars 2) as a .txt file and attach it using more posting & formatting options below.
However, try running a repair of the client and see if that helps.
Please post your complete system specs and export your whole crash log (or arenanet.log located under my documents/guild wars 2) as a .txt file and use more posting and formatting options below.
Giving us a snippet or nothing doesn’t always help us to help you.
You are definitely having issues. Sadly, I don’t understand some of them so I won’t be too much help, but I still wanted to point you at some possible issues. It seems like your system isn’t passing the self-check.
1. What video card are you running? This diagnostic is listing some generic display chip that isn’t capable of much. You may need to download the latest drivers and get them installed.
2. The diagnostic generated some plug and play errors and “signature” errors. I’m really not sure about those though… But this definitely shows you having problems.
I’m hoping another pc savy person pops on here for you to help you figure this out.
As a note, you know you can turn camera shake off in the options? There are several camera related options you can play with to find something that might work for you.
Also, race has a lot to do with camera mechanics (charr & norn have the worst time and make things difficult for others in tight spaces too).
However, I’m not sure this is really/specifically Mac related unless you are referring to the camera bug in the known bugs sticky.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
It doesn’t sparrow. not after the patch.
Yeah, it’s troublesome… Btw, you can use a similar trick for forcing the tp to load things when it’s playing up too. (change text language while tp is open)
Which one are you looking in?
Have you tried deleting the local.dat file (under my documents/guild wars 2)?
Some say networks/routers can cause this issue, what kind of connection are you on private/home or public/university?
Also, when did you install/start playing gw2? Has it ever worked well for you?
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Any error codes?
So, the repair doesn’t work huh? And you’re certain the repair runs?
You may need to run a check disk on your hard drive (just to be safe).
Make sure all windows updates are installed, even optional ones.
This is just to get started, maybe others will have more thoughts.
Awesome! Glad to hear that your issue seems fixed. Update again if anything else
Check your system temps while running the game (after 15 minutes), in particular, your GPU and CPU.
This is a fantastic program for it:
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
Post a screenshot from that for us to view.
What does your memory usage look like while playing?
I used to get lag spikes, but it was due to my os not relinquishing unused memory, so I’d be left with very little. (I can see you have 16gb, but you never know)
Keep in mind, the Mac client is a wrapper and requires nearly twice the specs the pc client needs, so yeah, you’re going to get better performance from the pc client. The Mac client is fairly good considering it hasn’t been a priority at all.
(edited by Kyllaa.1385)
Retina resolution is too much for this game, so hopefully that fixes that.
Everyone gets lag at some point though, some experience it worse than others for unknown reasons as of yet.
For tp not loading, that is universal! Trust me. Quick fix here:
1. Open your trading post (leave this open until finished)
2. Open your options panel
3. Change the language to French
4. Wait for the trading post to reload in French
5. Change the language back to English (anglais)
6. Test trading post
This will introduce a gamma bug, simply move the slider around, it will fix. (waiting on word from Luis about this)
As for Function keys, you can either have them set using them as standard F1-F12 keys or use the Fn key to use them. It doesn’t remove full functionality on the MBPr. Easy easy! I believe this is under keyboard settings, but I can’t remember and can’t check now.
I don’t know how graphics switching works on the mini, but on the MBP, it’s under the power saving settings, right at the top.
People are still experiencing this.
Try the language change if waiting it out doesn’t help.
Oh good, I used to have problems with that on mine. Glad to hear it’s not that.
Guess it is a neutral thing, weird.
Yeah, the non-accumulating influence bug is detrimental to small guilds (I run one myself for my personal friends who never play… Takes me forever to generate influence for upgrades on my own andi have no one to help complete bounties lol).
I posted on the guild bugs thread (that was stickied a couple months ago) about login influence bugs and how to avoid them for the most part, but that didn’t involve guesting. Personally, as a general rule, I’d rather not full party guest just to find an “open” dungeon entrance. Let one guest, the rest should just be in the zone so they can get the dungeon invite. I mean, how else would gw2lfg.com work, right? Then wait until you get home to apply any guild related bonuses. (just make sure the guester isn’t going to leave before the dungeon is complete, just in case)
This is just a suggestion, it may not work at all, but, it’s worth trying if you might not get it at all anyway.
Herr, post your system specs
