Are Charr Really Atheist?

in Charr

LameFox.6349

Um, okay. Apparently pointing something out by itself doesn’t contribute anything.

Here is Ignosticism with a wiki link then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignostic

This seems more fitting than atheism, considering they do not deny that all beings referred to by others as ‘gods’ actually exist, but may not consider them ’true’* gods. Thus if you asked whether gods exist, the answer would probably depend on what you meant by ‘gods’.

*They use the word ‘false’ in reference to some. I’m assuming this is meant in the ‘not genuine’ sense.

I’d prefer the main attack became more shotgun-y. Thieves would be a better sniper than engineers, to me… they have the option to just expend all their points (whatever it’s called, I forget now) very quickly for a lot of damage, which would fit quite well with a sniping skillset that had mostly high damage, point-expensive attacks.

Engineers already fire the thing from the hip… making it a shotgun would be pretty fitting IMO. And it wouldn’t even need to change more than one skill, the rest are already pretty handy for mid/close range.

You already can, sort of.

Way 2: don’t have any equipped and ‘hold’ your weapons (I think).

Way 3: have a kit equipped (for engineers).

Autoattack seems to be detecting range in the same way that bar is, I think. Maybe it’s based on the distance to the very centre of their hitbox or something? idk.

Am I right to condemn 5 Singet Warriors?

in Warrior

Posted by: LameFox.6349

LameFox.6349

I kind of agree. 5 signets and pure damage armor/accessories with a greatsword is bad in dungeons. However, this is the most simple yet effective warrior build and greatswords are probably the most fun weapon.

4 signets and “For Great Justice,” on the other hand, is really good (perma fury). Base stats wins in PvE, which signets and the +40 precision trait provides. Combined with knight’s armor, you have a great mix of damage and survivability.

I think I’m missing something… how does that give you permanent fury? FGJ can give you permanent might by itself, but not fury. Using that and sig of rage might do it, although it could take you some cooldown traits and/or boon extension traits/gear. I think mine might be almost permanent that way, but I’ve never tried to keep it up forever before. But if you were doing that, you’ll only get the precision from three signets. Is that still worth it by then?

Melee is just inherently dangerous. It’s not that it can’t be done, but consider for a moment that you’re charging into a group of people (I try to find solo fights, but realistically it hardly happens) who all want to kill you. Worse still, now you’re a very obvious threat to them because you stand out. You’re like the lone red ant that goes ‘lol, life is for wimps’ and charges into a mob of black ants to be torn to little, angry pieces.

Now, if you could just swing your axe into a guy’s head and be done with it, you’d probably stand good odds of catching some off guard and taking them down with you. But killing people instantly is hard(er than that, anyway). So you just get dismembered like that little red ant.

On the other hand, if you got like 6 people on teamspeak/vent/skype/mumble/whatever and all of you charged their disorganized mob at the same time, you might actually be able to scatter them apart and not get pulverized. But if you don’t want to do that, it’s basically just a matter of deciding when some other people will follow you, or you following them, else you get stampeded on.

Oh, and half of them are freaking invisible, so that doesn’t help. But it’s really not the warrior’s fault. If they were somehow awesomer, then the enemy would have that too and you’d still be smushed without good timing.

LameFox.6349

I honestly don’t like vengeance at all, I only use it if I was going to die anyway, because I may as well hit them some more first. It’s pretty funny when I get up and kill three NPC’s then fall down dead amongst the bodies though, like giving them one final two finger salute.

As far as actually relying on it as an ability, I have more luck throwing an axe, healing a bit, then spamming rocks until the axe is ready again.

LameFox.6349

I assume the longbow is better for pre-80 because it has more AoE. I’ve never really used it much on the warrior. My rifle does see a fair bit of use in 80 zones though. I can hurt things (even kill them, if they’re trashy) before they run up to me, or use it on champions that I don’t want to get too close to. Since a few trash enemies in a group tend to line up easily too, it can railgun through them pretty easily if traited and apply cripple, 5x vuln, bleeding etc. to all of them. My rifle isn’t even exotic either, it’s the skin of a lvl 70 exotic on a found lvl 80 rare with vaguely less than ideal stats (vitality, for instance).

EDIT: not that you can’t kite with it – it has a snare and knockback, so even without another utility for that it’s pretty good. Just that, in Orr adds are dense and plentiful, so I try not to run around much while fighting.

LameFox.6349

It’s not inherently bad, it’s just simple. You don’t really need to do anything because most of the time you don’t use those skills. So, some people can do it alright, and they just choose it because they hate mashing buttons. Others probably just don’t cope well with pressing all those different skills (I guess these are the ones you see not dodging as well).

Gossamer, and what needs to be done

in Crafting

LameFox.6349

The game is built for higher levels to be killing stuff, not just running from gathering node to gathering node.

I’m sorry to say, but you’re way off base if you think that at level 80 you’re going to be hunting down Orich nodes and completely ignoring the dozens (or hundreds) of mobs in between that are more likely to drop containers (which do give Gossamer but neither logs nor ore), salvage trophies, or straight up white useless loot which you can easily salvage into cloth. If for no other reason than the fact you can’t get an exotic greatsword from a gathering node, what you say… doesn’t make sense.

True, some time down the road people will be hunting down those nodes as often as they can, but since they’re often unpredictable and mutable (seems to change node placements every day now), but even MORE people will be ignoring the piddly little nodes and running to the nearest exciting/rewarding content… a fight.

If anything, I would say the tendency to get cloth from mobs is slightly more than getting wood or ore from them, and that the overall balance will be almost opposite of what you’re saying..

(On a side note, Armorsmiths and Leatherworkers use gossamer too)

I only craft between bouts of killing stuff, and tend to lose money on it. Even so, I get very few of these mats from bags, and I only use them for insignias, so if the OP needs more I think it would still be pretty annoying.

I agree with Rush, though I feel like its aim has improved lately. Your argument for HB is kind of self-contradictory. In fact I’m pretty sure for me it cancels even if I start to walk, but either way that makes no sense, there’s obviously something you can do.

It’s not too bad. You can spec for loldamage with a rifle and not have to worry about adds or getting stomped flat by a boss’s heavy melee, but most of the time yeah, NPC’s are so daft you can cut them into salad with a glassy sword build too.

BUT… the greatsword recharge skill is in the same line as the rifle one. Make of that what you will.

^using shake it off also removes a condition though. That can save you a lot of damage without needing to heal. I have that & warhorn for a total 3 condition removal skills (warhorn says it converts them to a boon with that trait, but I think that part is broken) plus ‘for great justice’ and ‘on my mark’. It’s pretty good for general PVE stuff.

I’d use battle cry, but it seems not to even be a shout. IDK what’s up with that skill… wider range for a slower recharge, less effect, and only on other people. Seems like its only real use would be stacking extra stuff on top of FGJ on nearby allies.
