You will have a harder time finding a dungeon group as a necro / ranger / engi than with a warrior / guardian / ele / mesmer. Thieves shine in organized groups but don’t have the support to stay alive in random chaos. Open world is ruled by guard, warr / ranger second. PvP / WvW I have no idea about.

I was proud to be a warrior. 1221 out of 1534 hours on warrior, good times. Through thick and thin, I would stick to it no matter what. Or so I thought.

But when I needed a third gift of exploration, I tried a guardian. No kittening around, tome to 80.

Stability change should be PvP ONLY

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lampshade.7569

This change will wreck PvE in multiple ways. Unless you plan on completely overhauling PvE from the ground upm this change makes no sense.

Most enemies stun multiple times in short durations, or have a very short CD on their stun attacks. They were designed around the previous version of stability, it makes no sense to have it this new way

You will now need a taunt/stability tank. YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY, and a healer to back that up, causing condis and condi remove.

This.

I have no expectation that anything good will come of this, chiefly because their demonstrated abilities to balance things leave much to be desired.

This will be no exception. Fustercluck incoming.

Slow: or how Anet screws over PvE

Lampshade.7569

How will resistance and taunt do anything but help pve?

Resistance:

Oh you mean I will actually have to pull out my boon strip skill and use it intelligently? Oh noes!

Except a few classes will become the designated boon removers while nothing changes for the rest. Yay for roles and success-critical classes. Not.

Taunt:

You mean I can try to rescue a vulnerable party member from getting squashed, or pull something to a safer spot to fight it? Oh noes!

You can pull anything anywhere without taunt.

That vulnerable party member having to take care of himself rather than relying on others to do it for him (and, consequently, blaming them to no end) is one the core principles of gw2 combat.

Would be cool if the event dailies gave everyone a different zone. Pump maxed players into all kinds of zones to interact with fresh ones.

Shame about monthlies, monthly JP always gave me a little push to try a new one.

This thread is talking about the “new” dailies which started 2 months ago, not the festival dailies. These dailies give no laurels at all. It’s the daily login, which is separate, that give you laurels.

A different zone for event dailies for everyone which spreads out the zerg, is one possibility that might work,

… wait what?

I see, you’re right. Dailies no longer give laurels. Well that’s just downright lazy.

Also, with spreading the event dailies, I meant more like . . . give each account a different map, but keep them all in the same zone (Kryta / Ascalon / . . . ) That way, when you are lvling, you always have the choice between the lonely solo or a ride on the particle-effect-overloaded-zerker-meta-kill-everything-on-sight train.

4: Post writers should aim to be concise and to the point using examples where necessary. (We need to improve here)

1: We need to keep thread and post sizes more manageable. Should we put a limit on the word length of posts?

Forum design is an issue and its obvious that many people struggle to properly convey their thoughts due to this. After all, if you want to communicate, you need better ways to do so.

The solution ( and not just in this particular issue ) should be a shared responsibility though. Give us better tools, but dont be afraid to ask players for whatever you need.

In this case, my idea would be that you upgrade the forums but in exchange you would give us some posting guidelines and expect us to properly format our posts in order to be taken seriously.

2: How are we going to chose topics moving forward, for example, by votes or by Anet choosing them etc?

You choose possible topics, players vote.

How about “skill skins”. Finishers are a big hit so why not introduce something similar in PvE.

Each utility skill has a “skin slot” in the hero panel and has several (and more with passing time) “skin options”. Upon completing some difficult challenge (combined with paying skill points/ karma/ whatever currency maybe) you can unlock one new skin for one of your skills, making its casting animation visually cooler.

Examples:

Signet activation picture could be cooler – longer lasting, and surrounded by rays of light or dripping with blood, etc.

All kinds of shockwaves could be colored.

Any field could have a “fence”. From a ring of fire to an actual wooden fence.

Turrets/summons/illusions/pets/conjured weapons/spirit weapons/banners looking cooler is not really a new idea.

And best of all: you dont like it? leave it in default form.

You could start with elites to decrease the workload, then slowly expand.

Let one thing be clear: I do not give permission to these people or anyone on this forum to speak on my behalf. My opinion is my own, thank you very much. I am not the only one in this thread who has complained about this.

It is my personal opinion that four more updates involving Scarlet would be damaging for the Living Story and the game itself and you are welcome to disagree.

Coincidence? I think not.

Getting tired of threads like this. The moment Anet mentions Scarlet everyone feels they need to make a thread laying out in a carefully thought out post saying why they hate her. We get it. Anet gets it. Scarlet wasn’t a particularly well written character for whatever reason.

What Anet has done in the announcement the OP is adamantly calling out is the light at the end of the tunnel everyone else is calling for. The problem the OP can’t live with (and I can’t imagine why – this is a game after all) is that it’s going to take four more updates.

I don’t care for Scarlet much like the rest of us however I’m pleased to know there’s a light up ahead and it’s approaching fast.

As I already wrote once, even though my opinion is negative, I’m only trying to improve the game – healing a tree by cutting off a dead branch.

Yes, there is now a light at the end of the tunnel. My main point is that in the next four updates this light will be getting dimmer and dimmer and for many players this light will be completely gone when the next season of living story starts.

My second problem is that this much time for a conclusion suggests that they will want to tie the end of her story to the beginning of the next one. Again, this is a bad idea. Scarlet will never be part of GW2 main story. No matter how much they try, it will never happen. I’m merely trying to minimize the time that the players will see as completely wasted.

Scarlet needs to go. Now.

I would love it if there were mandatory in-game information gathering polls so we could discuss what public opinion actually looks like. Until then you can dismiss any negative feedback with “forums are populated by chronically dissatisfied people”.

I’m just trying to speak up against upcoming events that, in my opinion, will leave people so dissatisfied with the living story that they will stop caring about where it will head next.

Mixing Scarlet and the Dragons will be like finally flushing the toilet.

I didn’t want to formulate it this negatively, but yes, very much so.

Scarlet needs to go. Now.

probably because the story isn’t finished? do you read a few chapters of a book then stop then say it sucks?

There are books where the writing is terrible enough to make you not care about the outcome halfway through.

You do realize the majority of the updates are already in the works and have been for months now? The last should be started soon now that the Wintersday patch is live. The teams have four months to work on the content. One of those teams should be just about done. There’s no logical way they can just scrap the rest of the Scarlet arc.

Yes i do realize this and I said to in my initial post.

It’s still more than one month until the next release. I’ll take one month of actual story over four months of garbage any time.

Just because there is a Living Story, players are not forced to participate in it. Just go do your WvW or dungeon runs or guild missions as usual. If something annoys you, don’t expose yourself to it.

If this was just one update, I would happily do so, but it has been public knowledge for some time now that Scarlet is just too poorly written to be salvaged. Four more updates of her story is the Titanic, deliberately headed for the biggest iceberg in sight.

I personally liked Scarlet. She will be leaving shortly. Your demands are a little stamping foot variety aren’t they?

You personally liked her, but if you read a bit more on the forums you will see that people like you are very few.

What I am saying is, right now, players are still willing to say: It was an experiment, a learning experience, so let’s pretend it never happened.

In four more updates? Not really.

Scarlets story doesn’t need to be “completed” or “fixed”. Quite the opposite – she has to go with as little collateral as possible.

If they try to finish her story, it will cost time, money, players, it will fail and it will kill the very concept of living story just because they tried to fix something that was just too kitten broken.
