How about an NPC that exchanges Gift of Exploration for full reveal and all waypoints (no exp)?
Questions about creature design? Sure. Why is it ok that creatures take more than twice as much damage from some classes than from others?
If completing the captcha meant the timer is reset then absolutely yes. I run into it at least two times just by selling daily fractal loot.
A DPS meter? Pretty pretty please? I’m not saying all classed should be equal, it’s fine to have some bring less damage in exchange for more utility, but for the bottom classes to do more than 2 times less damage is fluff.
So you can play your besser/wisser somewhere else.
Calling someone a besserwisser after stating "It is common knowledge . . . " well played.
By the way, I have 150 years of experience as a wizard and can solve systems of 30 equations with 35 variables off the top of my head. Really.
On a little more serious note though, you present an extremely broad principle and then try to confirm it by a very specific example. Even really simple linear systems can have more than one degree of freedom. Then again, I can see how the filthy casuals from applied disciplines could dislike “fiddling” with multiple variables and instead just wait for someone else to do the real work
It is common knowledge in mathematics and programming also, if you fiddle with an equation, you only manipulate one variable at a time.
Class balance in GW2 is garbage and despite good intentions and massive amounts of concrete feedback they have utterly failed to properly address it for several consecutive years. However, mentioning the above sentence at a university would get you laughed at.
Honestly, I believe in minor changes. Shockwave aftercast, damage adjustments (Condi and Power); Add something to Magnetic aura (favorably in the form of a minor condition clear because the only source of clear on staff is on a 45 seconds cooldown); Slight reduction of Healing Rain cooldown and cast time reduction (You have no time to cast it while focused by necro and you need to stay on field to gain the effects for over 6 seconds); Lava Font instant. That’s about it.
That sounds mostly reasonable, staff really is very weak to condi. Though you should specify what you mean by “lava font instant”. The first tick? That’s still too weak. The total damage? That’s a one-shot button on 4s cooldown. I’d be okay with having first two ticks happen instantly and the remaining ones adjusted to keep the total damage the same.
Overall though, my point is that I would prefer to not invite dev attention at all x)
A lot of changes proposed do not even affect PvE. PvE rotation is Lava Font, Fireball and Overload Fire.
Most of the proposed changes sound rather overpowered. If the staff is too strong in pvp, whining for nerfs will commence and the nerfs will be made in a way that does affect PvE, even if the buffs don’t, because that’s how they seem to roll.
Staff is fine
if mobs you kill,
all this whine
takes zero skill.
Esport dreams now come around,
sparked by petty greed,
but we rise and stand our ground,
so our warning heed:
Take a dagger,
get stuff done,
but don’t rush
to ruin our fun.
Forum-PvP is the real GW2 esport.
Talked to death, over and over and over. You can’t have a discussion with someone who only listens to what they want to hear. The most recent example that stuck to my mind was the 5 man buff limit in raids. It was so depressing how defeated the PvE forum specialist sounded when he had to explain “Yeah guys, I’ve talked to them, brought up all the points you’ve made, and they just went: nope.”
Well, several story characters ranted about how Mordremoth is stronger than Zaithan and we still kind of owned him, maybe the dragons will take a hint and gang up?
Garbage. /15_15_15
What do you think the marketing budget would be better spent on? Pop-ups? Magazine pages?
Seriously? Jumping/gliding/exploration races, GW2 themed LARPing, live raid playthroughs with commentary . . .
As for esports, it’s the same as casuals asking pros in established esports whether it’s worth to leave school / work and focus on becoming a pro. The answer is almost universally the same – if you are already placing in tournaments, sure, go for it. Otherwise, back to work.
Same with building a new esport – if your community is already hosting tournaments, if the game itself is worth competing in, great. If not, focus on the game until it is. You can’t buy the drive to be the best.
You can’t sell an esport, ever. It either grows from grass roots or it doesn’t. It certainly doesn’t grow from “dailies and gtfo”.
All too often have I run into discussions in profession-specific sections where the same profession (even the same ability) is called both overpowered and underwhelming at the same time. If we want PvP and PvE balance to be considered separately, we could start by not mixing up the feedback. I suggest the following: If you are posting in a profession section, preface the thread name with [PvE], [PvP] or [WvW]. That way, if it suddenly sparks a discussion about balance, everyone will be on the same page. I am fairly certain that if the practice catches on, it will not be necessary to explain it to newcomers. It is, after all, not a difficult concept, but potentially an extremely useful one to the poor souls who come to drown in our whining.
Ariel, Betsy, Cuddles, Darling, Exxterminator, Fluffy, Greg, Hipsteroid, Ivan, Jellybean, Krakatrollik, Lindsay, Muppetard, Nobody, Oniichan, Powerpuff, Quaggawan, Richard, Steve ( already mentioned, but it’s just too good ), Teletub, Upvote, Vintagepron, Wanda, XXX, Yoloswaglord, Zoidzerg.
Enemy cast bars.
Well, this escalated quickly. Which is quite unsurprising, considering some of the other professions go like “buffs, buffs, buffs” while guardian notes read as “enjoy staying in garbage tier, scrubs”.
Love is in the air

Jennah and Pale Tree
those were meant to be.
Even Logan is happy

for he found his true love

Most difficult fract is the one you run with a perpetual afker, one whiner, one guy who rushes ahead all the time because he has to go soon and one guy who is really chill and fun, probably your friend, but dies in the first 3 seconds every single time you pull even one mob.
The forceful greatsword – furious – phalanx synergy killed all other PvE builds, you run phalanx or you can go home. I would like to see axe mastery at master level and discipline turned into a viable alternative to tactics in terms of support – add inspiring banners ( which got completely removed without any reason ) to the existing banner trait and add one more GM banner trait, something like merge all non-elite banners into one and increase the effect by about 30%.
This is gonna be Cleric staff guardian 2.0
Well at least rangers are already used to getting kicked on sight anyways x)
“Upcoming content will have stuff that you can’t just dodge to survive.”
Can you hear it? It is easy to miss among all the hype and all the productive discussion, but if you focus and listen really closely, it’s right there. The sound of everyone quitting.
Healers. Healers everywhere. I think not. We will equip all our power, all our precision and all our ferocity and kill absolutely everything faster than it kills us . . . or die trying.
How about this – spirits get two modes, one where they follow you but give no buff and one where they root themselves and give buffs.
You have placed too many sell orders too quickly. Please wait a few minutes before attempting to sell again.
By attacking them until their health pool reaches zero. Trying to utilize fall damage or neutral monsters is not very effective.
Hearthstone Diablo Tanks
As long as we get the choice to turn it off, I wouldn’t mind it if it happened. Though, I wouldn’t say it’s a top class priority to have either, I’m afraid.
It’s not a top priority, but it’s something that bugs me every single time I log on and the request has been there pretty much forever, at some point they certainly must have had the resources to do so but decided not to.
Could you please post your setup, maybe with some commentary? What particularly interests me is how many pieces of knight and why virtues over honor.
Dungeons are great, and I will let you finish, but we have the best esports of all time !
If you like running with 50 other players and looting the mostest shinies while admiring the human female character models, guardian is still the undisputed master class – Equip a Staff and go like this: 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111
As for playing solo , well . . . open world is made for casuals and ultimately you can solo everything naked. However, if you don’t want to take two days to kill a critter, stay away from guardian. No innate 25% movespeed and has to make major damage sacrifices to keep swiftness or use Traveler or consumables. No thanks.
Ground-targetted Purging Flames is kicking kitties however
And yes, the delay of mouse-targetted WoR means you will get hit by some attacks. You can still quick-cast it at your feet if you want. But I want my PF available to be “thrown”, so….
Well, I prefer for Purging Flames to actually purge conditions rather than quick-casting it at my feet and then having to run out of the area before the cast finishes. I would even go as far as taking a “Consecrations are NOT ground targeted” trait.
So you’re trying to tell me that the typical GW2 player is male, 20-24 years old, played GW1 but only casually, has 500+ hours over 1000+ days, likes human females, elementalists, guardians, mesmers and warriors but hates charr, engineers, rangers and necromancers, mostly plays PvE, likes Living World, bought gems from the store and thinks ANet is bad at releasing info. Who could have possibly guessed?
Trahearne 50/50, that one I did not see coming.
People were mean to you on the internet? That’s a first.

At 4:21:40 Jon Peters explicitly promised that banner cooldown would either be added to the other banner trait or made baseline. I posted this several times already to exactly zero effect.
10% is pathetic for a grandmaster major trait. It needs to be at least 15%.
How about 10% and symbol generating abilities recharge 33% faster?
Ahahahahah this is hilarious.
Hater uses griefing . . . It’s not very effective.
Hater watches youtube and learns to solo.
Hater uses market saturation . . . It’s super effective !
Serves you right. AHahahaha
It just wierds me out that retreat has a higher CD. srsly
Good point, retreat should be lowered to 30s since it suffered the most from boon duration removal.
I wish they’d do most of those in the images above. There are a lot of armor skins is never touch simply because they look awful when not mirrored that could easily be favorites if they were just normal…
Exactly this.
Every profession changed from dps to more dps.
I would decide based on how much you like their actual gameplay rather than on benefits of having said class. As for me personally, I recently abandoned my warrior and rolled a mesmer, despite all the buffs to warr and having two legendaries that don’t transfer ( I had a mesmer before but ragedeleted him when IC was moved from Adept to Grandmaster). The reason for this is that axe builds are dead now ( Yes, I like the “press #1 to win” style, sue me ) and I can’t bring myself to willingly use the three-and-a-half second death trap that is Hundred Blades.
For me personally, 30 seconds is the difference between a skill that I use whenever I can and a skill where I hesitate to blow a cooldown. I like the skill how it is.
But are guardians in such a state that they need to give the whole party 20.8% quickness uptime to be competitive?
Yes.
As for your comparison, you compare non-elite skills to an elite, except for time warp, which has slow. Also, since when do we play the “every class must have equal access to everything” game in GW2? Sorry but no.
Could you please not fix this trait at all but rework it entirely? Every time someone blasts for retaliation, I feel like I just earned a tiny piece of a ticket to hell. Or, if you insist on keeping it, add something like “symbols are now fire fields” to radiance GM. But what could you possibly replace in radiance? Why, Radiant Retaliation, which was proven useless, as expected, now that it actually works.
(You could say that this bug was karma, the guardian class itself got fed up with poor trait design and . . . retaliated. ahaha)

“Don’t Pre-Purchase Heart of Thorns” has hit 2500 on reddit and this thread alone is 60 pages in under 24 hours. And yet, (unsurprisingly) total silence. This is how I imagine Anet HQ right now.
On the April 24 stream they promised to roll it into Inspiring Battle Standard, but it has not happened.
This takes some courage, you are my hero x)
Why not both?
