Yeah, I can’t get on the ‘delete their name if they have been inactive for ’x’ time or longer’ bandwagon. Nope, sorry.
I would be utterly kittened if names that I stayed up all night to get at launch were suddenly “gone” because I chose to take a break, or because life was more important than a game for a period of time.
But what if they hadn’t been on since the first week of launch?
Doesn’t matter. Unless they contact Anet and say “delete my account” or Anet institutes some option for account termination that a player can use, that account and those characters exist. That person is free to come back at any time. They paid for their account the same as you or I.
If I like it…. I buy it. Just how it goes. You don’t like ‘em. That’s fine.
Reporting a player for “leeching” specifically was a thing in GW1. And I miss it. If enough players from a match (lets say 7 out of 10) report a player for afking or leeching, the dishonor time out should be automatically applied and that player should get 0 rewards (no league progress, no reward track progress, etc)
“Leeching
Reporting a teammate for leeching gives that player 2 dishonor points. If at least half of your team reports this player, a further penalty will be applied preventing any faction or XP gain in this match. If, however, a third or less of your team reports this player, you will also be given 2 dishonor points for issuing an unsupported report. Players with 10 or more dishonor points are temporarily prohibited from participating in PvP.”http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Report
(yes, i’m aware this can be abused. just like everything else. thats a different topic for a different day)
And that can totally be abused by players queueing together against solo players.
And it’s not a different topic.
It would cause more problems than it would solve.
I did state that I was aware that it could be abused. I wasn’t going to open up that specific can of worms, but oh well.
No matter what they implement, there is the chance of it being abused. There is 0 way around it. kittens are going to be kittens.
Unless they completely remove the ability to report from the players hands. At which point they are left with 2 options: hire people to watch every player in every game or just ignore everything. Neither is an ideal option.
At least with the GW1 method, too many reports could in turn get you banned for abusing the system, since your account would get flagged. And there was a limit to how many reports you could submit via a 24 hour period (50).

Kormir ascended to godhood at the end of Nightfall. So just a few hundred years prior to GW2’s beginning. Our GW1 characters were along for that ride.
Orr was sunk prior to the initial story line of GW:Prophecies, and was only brought back to the surface with the rise of Zhaitan. Thus no temples to her. Abaddon, the god from which she absorbed her power, does have a temple in Orr:
“Like other human gods, he also had a temple in Orr, the Cathedral of Hidden Depths, which now lies sunken in the Straits of Devastation.” In the open world, this temple a ruin, but during one the personal story steps, we get to explore this temple while it’s still relatively in tact.
When Abaddon fell (or was banished), the other 5 gods essentially wiped his existanse from the world. Casting his followers, shrines, etc into Torment with him. If I recall correctly. Thus for the longest time it was “5” Gods.
Yes, both Daydreamer’s and Nature’s Oath are Melandru inspired outfits, being nature themed, but they are not Melandru.
We already have the avatar outfits for Balth, Dwayna, and Lyssa. We await Melandru, Grenth, and Kormir.
(We have Grenth’s hood. Would be nice to get the rest of it at some point….)

That’s the best you can do sadly
I showed this thread to a couple of my high school English teachers.
One cringed.
The other outright cried.
ANet has always balanced around pvp. That’s how it was in GW1. That’s how it is here. How it will always be. Yes, they have stated that they also look at how the changes will affect pve and wvw as well, but lets face it…balancing those are not the main goal.
Yes, in GW1 they did start splitting skills, late factions early nightfall time period if I recall. However, they didn’t like doing it. We know they can do the same here, as they have done so with skills previously already. But again, they really don’t like doing it (and I think everything that was split has since been unsplit).

10/10 Crimson.
Absolutely love the fully thought out background. My primary necro has a history behind her as well (GW1 descendant and all, not really a role-play background though). Not sure the forums appreciate reading a book though (but I do!).
I’ve been enjoying some solo q ranked pvp play. Made it up to ruby… No way in hell I’m making it to diamond though….
I’ve also made a couple of new characters to work through the leveling process….
And I’ve been enjoying running around edge of the mists, which serves the secondary purpose of getting hero points to unlock my elite specs…..
And I spent some time farming a metric ton of wintersday presents, which yes, I found enjoyable…
And I’ve done some odds and ends farming when I felt like it…
Made me spit my drink all over my desk at work and now everyone is staring. LOL
Oh…I’ve done this! They’re giving you that look like “wtf is wrong with you?”
I’m with Rose on this one…
My toon is callled Neck Romancer… asura .. male.. ;-)
I lol-ed hard at this.
And then random thought – blood based necro….vampiric. Mental image of a tiny asura (which have pointy teeth to begin with) chasing people trying to bite them (Vampiric Bite). I cannot stop laughing.
10/10
Asura does feel much more “animated” than a human, yes, primarily due to all the jumping around that they do. (I absolutely love their dodge animation). Humans, being larger, don’t get all those nifty little animations and as such (to me) feel a lot more ‘reserved’ (maybe?) in their play. “Nobility vs Arrogance” might be an interesting way of looking at it.
My guild was small, always has been. think there were…I dunno…8 of us? People started losing interest, but still occasionally logged in back near the end of 2013 / beginning of 2014. With the HoT release….my guild is, sadly, now just me.
Oddly, I find I have no desire to attempt to recruit anymore.
Gliding is an expansion perk
Just like the elite specs are an expansion perk
People keep asking Anet to make the expansion shinies available to the core game / free to play players. If they do this, what is the incentive for players to actually purchase the expansion then?
This is because forfeits (not losing points with teammate disconnects) are effectively disabled while we fix the dishonor false positives that were happening much more frequently than actual disconnects.

The problem with releasing patch notes “now” is simply that kitten can still change between now and then. And should they say “a” and it ends up being “b” for whatever reason, people will have fits.
I started with a human ele (namesake for her GW1 counterpart). Primarily because it helped me get a ‘feel’ for the class without also needing to get a feel for the race. Not sure if that makes sense or not (to me they all feel and play differently). After that I made a Norn, and then a Charr. I think Asura might be next (super tiny vs super huge)
So, I’d say start with a race you’re most comfortable with. If the races don’t have different feels for you, then just go with whichever one you like the armor aesthetics for best.
I typically run fresh air tempest (air, water, tempest) when I play, I don’t run dagger / focus. I prefer dagger / warhorn. Of course, I don’t roam alone, and I’m also running aura share.
Could we stop putting 3 and 4 of the same class on one team please? please?
I could understand if maybe they were teamed. Or a mix match of duos. But I checked…they weren’t.
I had a similar experience. Yesterday I was in a team with 4 condi necromancers (I was playing Scrapper) and the other team had 4 Tempests (all with Diamond Skin of course) and a Druid. EVERYONE was solo q, no teams whatsoever. You can imagine how the match went. To add insult to injury we all lost 2 pips from that impossible match-up
The last screenie has got to be my “favorite” thus far. 8 out of 10 players being necros. 6 of those were solos. sigh
9/10 for ‘Count Dispatch’ I do like that.
My 2nd necro:
Name: Aellenah
Race: Sylvari
Gender: Female
The name is a derivation of the name ‘Ellena.’ The root of which is Greek meaning “Man’s Defender.” Figured it fit, considering the Sylvari PC’s Wyld Hunt is to ‘slay a dragon’ and essentially protect the world.
See…when they started talking about masteries, they sounded a lot like the rep grind from GW:EN to me. And, from my perspective, they pretty much are the same thing. The primary difference is that I’m gathering “mastery points” instead of hunting down the shrine that gives me the buff for whatever creature I’m killing.
Don’t forget legendary armor, via raids. It has its own skin (per weight) as well.
Oh? Where can i preview it? Oh wait..its not even in game.
Just because you can’t preview it (such as through the wardrobe) doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not in the game. (I know it’s not currently, but that’s not the point). I can’t preview the mistward via any “normal” method either, but it came with HoT.
The topic of the thread is simply armor sets that came with the expansion, which the legendary set qualifies. As will any additional armor that may come with any LS seasons between now and the next expansion’s launch.
By the time it come out i might as well be dead. I dont even know how it look like so i dont bother putting any effort into raids (charr armors r terrible after all). You cant really count something that is not in game nor wont be anytime soon. We will be lucky to get it by the end of this year tbh. For me HoT came out with 2 armor sets+1 for heavy, 5 weapon sets. Since then we was flooed with gemstore weapon skins, gliders and outfits.
Well, raids aren’t going away, so no need to rush until you can see if you like it. Then again…legendary..swap stats at will ooc…can always reskin it if you don’t care for it. shrug
Yes, charr armor needs some love.
I understand the gripe about wanting more armors. About expecting more when HoT launched. About so many new BLTC weapon sets, that they could have popped into the game as assorted reward skins. I get it. I had similar gripes.
I’ve had days like that. Seem to be coming a bit more frequently. So…after I get the last 3 or 4 days I need for daily league participant, I think I’m done with pvp for a few weeks….
I look at this the same way I’ve looked at every game release: Same kitten, Different day.
This same question was asked about ESO. About Wildstar. And it will be asked again come the next “big thing” too. So I’ll say again, what I have said before:
Some people will love it and leave.
Some people will hate it and come back.
Some will like neither and go elsewhere.
Some will play both.
That’s just how it goes.
Me, personally? It might be fun to watch, but I doubt I’ll try it myself. Honestly, if I want that style fighting game, I’ll just go pop in SoulCaliber, Mortal Kombat, or Bloody Roar.

In order for there to be healthy game play, there really needs to be a mix of viable (and desirable) builds to be played. Some bunker, some glass, some hybrid, with each role having its trade offs. We really don’t have that, never have. Maybe it’s different higher up, but from down here, its just saddening.

Maybe not as drastic as others, but…I’ll share
…and the silly amber never loaded, so we went the whole match 4v5. sigh Put up an ok fight though…
P.S: and that doesn’t even count the removal of Celestial amulet. Ele is done for next patch, so stop the QQ lol
Yeah I noted the celestial removal and sighed.
Anything you purchased you’ll get refunded for. The new amulets we’re adding will be free since we’re removing a number of other core amulets.
This is good to know. Thank you.
I think my heart just stopped.
Dear gods the power creep. STOP IT!
get ready for the “it’s endgame duh” and “don’t solo” responses
Oh. yeah, and that Azure. XD
Keep in mind that this was only a preview. We don’t know what else they have coming. Not until we get the full patch notes (and maybe, really, not even then) on the 26th.

I don’t really feel that functionality fits with the earth line, but that’s sort of beside the point.
I’m not sure how they see this as a ‘nerf.’ If anything, this makes it a stronger, potentially more useful, passive. So, I guess it will depend on what other defensive adjustments are being made to the class.
Just under 3 hours.
U know you can google the time conversion….

Looks like one very unhappy bride to me. If I got one, I would demand a happier model.
