There is a reason why i post this post to the pvp forum section. Nothing needs nerfs in pve.
The issue with this though is that the modes share the same skill balancing. When people call for these kinds of adjustments, they need to keep that in mind. Yes, the game is [usually] balanced with pvp in mind; however, because Anet does not want to split skills (regardless of what we might desire), that balancing occasionally tends to kitten over pve and wvw.
Not really. The season came to an end, and then we got a balance patch. The break gives us 3 weeks (ish?) to iron out what works and what doesn’t for the upcoming season. It allows time for things to settle, as well as for any emergency tweaks (balance, bugs, etc) that might need to happen. If we were to simply hop from one to the next, people might start feeling a tad burnt out from it relatively quickly (some people feel pressured by such things).
End of the month
Uhh….. can’t get on the game atm (as I’m at work). But tallying up hours played via gw2 efficiency…. roughly….
2,940 hours since 8/25/12 (which is what? 1257 days?) on one account.
2nd account… about 792 hours over the same time period.

A message from the Skills Team:
The current behavior was an unintended consequence introduced with the 1/26 build.Hello Gaile,
Without being sarcastic i would like to let you know about another unintended consequence with the 1/26 patch.
Its the mesmer part of the update. Its pretty broken atm and its in a sad state in pvp.
It would be really nice if you can let us know if someone is looking into that part. Thanks anyway!
Ps. i really loved your frog in gw1
There’s a lot of feedback to read, so please don’t mind if I ask this: Do you have specific areas of concern? Also, did you post in the major feedback thread? I don’t mind asking, but a general “it’s broken” isn’t as good as solid evidence.
(And thanks. Froggie is doing well in Old Tyria, but I hope someday to travel with him in the Tyria of today.)
Confirmed: Gaile requires a giant, semi-sentient, bull frog pet for her ranger! (I wonder if that would upset the Hylek? Then again, if Gaile gives good treats, one of them might just volunteer….)
Who’s gonna tell the Devs to get on that?
Well what i mean is why they don’t adding more points on the infusions for ex instead of having +4 power you will have like 200 or little bit more . Just to show the difference???
Once upon a time they said that stronger infusions would come out over time. That they would provide a small(very small), increasing power curve. Many of us have screamed (loud and long) for a cease to the power creep. Significantly stronger infusions would probably set off a riot.
Agony is a mechanic that only (presently) exists in fractals. There are no other parts of the game (currently) that require the use of Agony Resistance.
Soon™
All bunkers…. not fun
All wet paper …. not fun either
All hybrids …first person to fudge up loses… still not fun
You need a little bit of all three to make the games interesting. Unfortunately we still aint there yet. Not from what I’ve seen anyway.
Conditions are armor ignoring in their damage.
The direct counter for conditions is simply uping your vitality stat.
Just like you up your toughness to counter direct physical damage.
Both of which are armor stats.
This is good to hear, and yes this needs to happen. Dmg needs to be assessed per player, as opposed to simply looking at the skill globally. It may be the same skills, but it’s not the same source.
This would be akin to adding an internal cooldown to lava font, having 2 eles cast it in close succession, and due to the icd the 2nd ele does 0 damage period because the game doesn’t recognize the skill cast from 2 different sources. Each one should get the initial damage tick then be individually subject to the icd. This way both players can contribute to the damage being done, not being locked out just because someone else used the same skill a split second before they did.
Essentially, it’s a similar issue to what we had with conditions originally.
That doesn’t mean we can’t express that we would like to see it made better, Silly. That we would like to see them make it into something more than what it presently is.
Personally, I’d call this a grey area.
By definition, this type of “red resign” type behavior is defined as “match manipulation” which is technically against the service agreement.
However, on the flip side, these are personal servers where you get to make your own rules, within reason.
So, for as along as Anet is “ok” with it, in those specific instances of play, then all’s peachy. (And haven’t they said something once, about not stopping people if they want to farm that sort of stuff in their custom arenas?)
Until they decide it’s not anymore and nerf the option into the ground (which may never happen, but who knows.)
There are individual Dragon Ball achievements, but no, no meta that I’d noted. And the achievements just give envelopes. I don’t even think any of them have any type of title. So it’s just for AP hunting (and enjoying being a sucker for punishment), I suppose.
I really miss GW1’s Canthan New Year. The quest running. The food hunting for the event. The celestial minis. The shinies for completing a full round of the chefs. Is it just me?
+1, I wholeheartedly agree.
Granted, GW2 Dragonball is fun if you are a) winning or b) just have a fun team (even if you lose), but the vast majority (of my experience) is neither of those. I have a lot of stories about negative experiences, but I think you cover all the bases OP.
I was excited when Dragonball came back. I had wanted to see it make a reappearance in GW2. Sadly, I can’t even stand to play it, as it currently stands.
It sounds like you want profession-specific MMR?
WTF!! I thought profession-specfic MMR was long ago implemented!! Oh my god what are you guys doing?!
I was under the impression that we had profession specific mmr already as well. Pretty sure comments were made that this was a thing specifically so people could feel more comfortable trying new classes. Since you’re not likely to be awesome at it right out the door, and don’t necessarily want to be thrown into games at the proficiency levels of say, whatever you main.
They made it, then turned it off before applying the patch with it, and since then as far as we know it’s been left. It might even still be untested for all we know.
I suppose this is the reason for it – that there is no class locking once your match is found.
sigh

I was also under the impression that class ‘locking’ would be coming eventually anyway. Given the comment that “if you queue as ‘x’ we find you a game based on ‘x’ class” having been made at one point.
Wonder if I can go find that conversation.
So confused….
Interesting.
I would think that their code should take the initial source of the skill dmg into consideration, thus each rev should get that first hit, and then each would then be individually subject to that .5 sec delay. However, based on what that video is showing, it in fact does not. It’s simply looking at the incoming damage as “one skill”, not that it’s being applied from 2 distinct players using the same skill. (Am I making sense?)
They need to make this distinction.
I understand why they stuck the .5 sec delay between the cascading hits in there, but they way they did it is detrimental to group play. I might even go a step further and say this is a larger issue than it was with conditions being overwritten originally. At least with conditions you got the physical impact damage (as minimal as that sometimes was, it was still damage inflicted), and potentially a tick or two of the condition’s dmg. Here, we aren’t even getting the impact dmg.
Vizu, the Assassin representative has a chance of having been replaced by another hero, together with all other spirits, including Togo.
Of course they get cycled out. Would be neat if she was still there though. And even if she wasn’t, it would be neat to see who else had cycled in over time (and what they did to get there). See how the standard definition of ‘heroic deed’ may have changed over time.
No pay for HoT ==> no win.
That’s precisely P2W.
Would you guys stop spamming that if we say… ok you are right and move on with our lives knowing the real meaning of the p2w expression?
No… they won’t
I wonder if Tahnanakai Temple still stands…and if the ancient hero spirits are still there. That would be a fun history lesson…
..and I wonder how Vizu would react to meeting a revenant channeling Shiro…
GW2 sPvP is based around equal chances and level playing field. HoT goes agains that idea.
GW1 was as well. Didn’t change the fact that the new classes and skills added in both Factions and Nightfall where “over powered.” And the new classes remained that way for quite some time. Because they were selling points.
The elite specs and Rev are no different. They incentivize players to “upgrade” and after a time, they will be curbed and brought back in line to the ‘side grades’ they were intended to be.
Let’s see…I started with a human. What can I say? I enjoy “vanilla.”
From there I made a sylvari. Just for the implied oxymoron. (Life – Death…Don’t think I need to explain)
Then I made an asura, because she’s adorable!
Next up….a Norn. Even have her name and outfit all picked out.
Charr’s never gonna happen though. I just don’t resonate with them. Of course, the desire to repeatedly kill the thing doesn’t help….
Same “pay to win” as Factions… and then Nightfall. Its no different. (I can still hear the cries about Assassin and Dervish and Rit and, for little while, Paragon) New classes. New skills. New power levels because things are in massive need of balancing. It’ll get ironed out eventually. It might take a couple of years though….

They were being used in WvW to skip over walls and jump into keeps and towers.
Then make those walls taller…? Add an invisible barrier since nothing should be entering those keeps and towers? But don’t break a movement mechanic.
This was my general thought too. Fix the root cause of the issue, as opposed to just fixing a symptom.
sigh
that would require anet to write new code, all they know how to do is copy-paste older code in different orders.
I am kind of hoping this is just a “band aid” until the WvW team can actually address that underlying issue. Only time will tell (won’t hold my breath).
To anyone here in need that are also on NA servers:
Ever since I got a 2nd mesmer up to the goggles to help out Lanfear (hiya!), I have been porting players (single and groups) to the chest and then from the chest to the goggles (and both legendary collection points) with dual mesmers almost every day.
I also give succinct pointers for getting the dive now, which usually results in a successful first try. If you are interested in some mesmer assistance to get the dive/legendary collection spots, and are also on NA servers, feel free to message me in-game.
^ Wonderful person (hiya to you too Stin!). Very patient. Highly recommended!
Oh of course it will. Hell, it’ll probably be patched before I can even get home!

I guess I’m just not up to date on gimmicks, glitches, and exploits. Can someone tell me where being able to use these mid air was an issue? Did they make you travel further or something? (Which actually makes sense, given physics and such)
Well at least one use was to skip the Molten Effigy in the Molten Boss fractal. The patch notes also include.
Fixed an issue that allowed players to skip the Molten Effigy boss in the Molten Boss fractal.
.
I see. Don’t do fractals, so didn’t know. shrug
Then again…I don’t understand the whole skipping mentality. Yeah, I get the whole “it saves time” but meh. Killing kitten is what I’m here for!
My ele isn’t going anywhere. She may not be top dog right now, but it isn’t forever. Her day will come again eventually. That’s just how it works with Anet.
its offical they have no clue about any thing nerf and buff wise
that was official years ago

Will the pvp forums ever be satisfied?
Short answer: Nope
Long answer: No. Its actually not possible to do so. They can please some of the people, some of the time, but they will never be able to please all of the people all of the time. It’s just not how it works.
Is it really that hard to just enjoy the game m8s?
Nope. I grumble and groan, but I do try to roll with the punches. Granted, when a build I like gets destroyed in the name of anet’s “balance,” I huff, but it’s just an excuse to experiment again.
If pvp is “so bad” why do you play gw2?
I don’t think it’s awful, but I’m a casual player. Then again…I’ve seen what else is out there. shudder
Woo boy…. and I completely understand why this was added as a pvp obtainable reward.
I got that mail during the beta, when they cloned our accounts. Not sure if it’s a glitch in the system or what precisely. Did you verify whether the title is still in your list or not?
Thanks Gaile!
sounds like it’s only disabled for Free to play players, is it in fact disabled for everyone?
Dunno…aint home yet to check. Still, either way…
Since she sells a limited qty of envelopes per day (if I recall) are we going to get to recoup those we miss out on while she is disabled?
I didn’t read through all of the patch notes.
I hear the words “balance patch” and my immediate reaction is “well…back to the drawing board”
The GW1 conditioning holds true…
Keep in mind that Dulfy’s guide may not match up with the achievement panel checklist. It did not for the DT and SW badge/coin collections. I haven’t really checked the one for the diving master as I got burnt out doing the conversion tables for the others.
If the achievement panel checklist actually has useful descriptions then I wouldn’t worry about it. If it’s just numbers then I’d be aware that the JP you have been attempting may not the one that you need.
I believe they do. But it’s all on the wiki as well, which one is which and quickest route to it.
I haven’t had any luck with razor products. I know other people swear by them, but I kill them pretty quick.
As such, I stick to logitech. That seems to survive the beating I put them through. I use the g502 (weight-able, surface tune-able mouse). My husband uses the g600 (with its multitude of thumb buttons). I also liked the g700 (for size and number of programmable buttons) however, there is a flaw in the 700’s firmware, which can be screwy (so sad, such a nice mouse).
My other peripherals are also logitech. Been loyal to that brand for years.
oooooo this one….
yeah, I sought mesmer assistance to get to the top of the puzzle (there’s a thread under players helping players for this). It still took me like a dozen jump attempts to get it right though. suuuuuper frustrating. my biggest issue wasn’t getting my alignment right, but rather “over hopping” the initial jump. u need just a tiny hop of the ledge and just a nudge of forward momentum to get past the pipe. then u need to just fall like a rock….
Lets see….its roughly 11am eastern right now…
My experience is that the patch could come as early as Noon (9am pacific), but usually arrive right around 3pm (Noon pacific). I have seen them come as late as 6pm though (only like once or twice)(3pm pacific).
Name: Master

I’d have given you a 7/10 had you had a “The” in there for the Doctor Who reference. Kind of “meh” otherwise.
Lanfear, we can’t have complex fights without a healer and a “tank”-like mechanic.
Yes and no. Depends on the mechanics involved. With the raid setup? No, we can’t get away from having a “healer” and a “tank”. But really, they aren’t event truly that. Anet is trying to stick to they “support, control, damage” but they are really toeing the line.
I do agree with ANet that pure healers are boring, though, so I am with them on the decision to create Druids and Ventaris.
I disagree that pure healers are boring. But it’s all personal preference. You don’t like playing one, but I do.
Anet is biased.
Weeeellll… this one isn’t exactly false…
Engineers are Ritualists. Ashes are Kits, spirits are turrets.
I remember them saying something akin to this when they were announcing classes back around launch. Engi’s are the embodiment of what rits brought to the game. Though I do agree with a lot of other people that turrets feel nothing like spirits. I miss my spirit spam rit.
Every class that was in GW1 is now covered by a class in GW2 in terms of playstyle similarity.
monk is guard or druid
assassin is thief
ritualists is engineer
paragon is guard or warrior
dervish is revenant
Essentially. Although, at launch they said that all of the original classes where embodied in the original 8 announced. Guardian was the “evolution” of monks and paragons for example, since the classes “bled together” over time. Yatta yatta.
And of course, their whole “we don’t want a pure healer” as their excuse for not adding monks…
…and then we get druid and ventari rev. Oh the anger…
“Omg they can’t get any worse at this!”
10 years later…
Y’all were saying?
Overall, I’d say I enjoyed my S1 play. I made it into Ruby. When the season ended last night, I was 4 pips away from diamond. Much further than I had actually thought I would make it considering I didn’t even jump into the pvp season until after Christmas.
I can’t say that I’m looking forward the to the balance patch today, as I’m concerned (given anet’s balance history) with the outcome, but balancing between the classes as well as between elite vs normal specs is absolutely necessary.
Season 2 is going to be….interesting.
