I can’t run TS, seems to eat too much of my bandwidth. But I can do Discord.
I usually play for like an hour or so in the evening (on weekdays), eastern time. I’m on in the mornings on weekends. If anyone wants to add me.
Alacrity got hit harder than it should have been, imo. It was a knee jerk reaction on Anet’s part.
I don’t disagree that chill needs some tweaking as well, but let’s not do another knee jerk smiter’s boon nerf.
It was setting you fights you had roughly a 50% chance of winning before. So if you were of any particular skill level you could reach diamond because you’d mostly be fighting against people of that skill level and with, ie. on your team, people of that skill level.
Now it only ensures you fight with people it thinks are at your skill level, not against people who are of your skill level. So you can end up in matches it’s pretty kitten sure you are going to lose.
And if you lose, it re-adjusts its estimation of your skill level down and will team you with worse people. So you will just lose more.
So, if I lose a game that the matchmaking thought I was supposed to lose, my MMR still goes down? That doesn’t seem right. I would think that your MMR should only go down if you lose a game you were supposed to win.
This requires too much logic man. Stop it. Someone at ANet might get a headache.
Ow!
Logic and common sense…..
ITS BURNS! IT BURNS!
(sorry, couldn’t resist)
How nice for you. Congratulations! I truly mean that. Sort of.
blah blah … I’m jelly … blah blah
Thank you for considering it. And grats on your wins/achievements.
This is how I read that post.
sigh
No, not jealous. Read what’s being said.
Main account… can’t progress. Stuck in that endless cycle of lose, fall, get worse players, lose, fall, get worse players, etc because they ended up against people they should never have been queued against when the league started.
Makes an alt account…makes sapphire in day.
Same person… 2 different accounts. Drastic difference in results. Not how it should work, given its the same person. Thus, same skill level.
Said person also admits they aren’t the best player. Explicitly states they kinda suck (at least by the own opinion), regardless of playing “a lot”
sigh
Edit: Now, yes, the person could be lying; however, this is not the first example of this that I have heard of already this season.

time to move on to a different game guys, how many more chances are you going to give these developers? – It’s clear after 3 years they have NO idea what they are doing and each attempt the game gets progressively worse.
snort
I’ve been hanging around since 2006…. perty sure I aint going nowhere after being around this long. Glutton for punishment, that’s me.
Eventually it’ll get better….. and then they’ll touch it again. XD
“die trying” …. yeah… that sounds like my life right about now….
…even comes with a song….
I can survive the “cross ‘x’ thresholds” thing. Since once I complete one tier of it, the next one starts up.
Its the “play ‘x’ days” that drives me up a wall.
I don’t log in to the forums for a few days, and THIS is what happens?
Scary, huh?
Kittening filter
I feel your pain Rolisteel, I really do. I’m stuck in Emerald and I see the same crap. I wonder what the hell my team is doing, while I watch the opposing team rotating around the map like champs. Getting blown out of the water 500 to “insert anything less than 100 here” isn’t enjoyable. Conversely, being on the winning side of that type of match isn’t fun either. I’d have more fun with Laser’s slot machine in that instance.
However, we have a bit of a catch 22 here. The old “to get the job, you need to have experience, but to get the experience you need to have the job” type thing.
Omg that’s hilarious.
You might be beating the horse to death just a bit here Laser, but still…the image was a great chuckle.
I found another one:
All together now!
Omg ppl ur really sick, those poor horses.
Just beating the dead horse and tenderizing the meat before the dead topic gets slaughtered… enjoy
Oh…I think its been tenderized and slaughtered long ago. Cooked….masticated…digested…passed…spread as fertilizer…sprouted as fresh grass…and fed to next generation of horses to beat. Its been that long.
Its not that they can’t. Because the used to. Its more we just don’t have the population to do it.
Where did you hear that as a solo player you’d never face “any” premade? And what are you defining as “premade”?
Yes….pants please. Real…simple…pants.
Not shorts with tights (ascalon performer)
Not pants with a butt cape (priory, conjurer, devout)
Someone suggested student for pants, but that is “skirt and tights” by my standard. Or “pants and butt cape” if you prefer.
I want pants. Just pants.
Like Illustrious, Marauder, or Scout available for medium. (Lookin at just the pants component here)
(GW1 references incoming)
Hell, my ele would even settle for just having her obby armor again. Or my mesmer for her elite rogues.
Some very simple short skirts would be appreciated too. Like the mesmer monument. Or the ele kurzick 1.5k. No frilly tights or stockings. Just the skirt.
Please? Please? Pretty please?!
(All armor mentioned are from the human female character perspective)
Just want to add that a team tag on the scoreboard doesn’t mean it’s a full premade. A few days ago I was matched on one of these teams, it seemed to be a 3man premade.
But I agree 3 or 4manning seems the best way to go, especially with the way MMR seems to work this season.
Right. You just need a minimum of 3 people to “create” a team, iirc. So, if you see a tag, it could be a group of 3, 4 or 5.
In Tyrion’s specific screenie, it was a full 5. Which is only case where the “full solo” opponent team won’t happen.
But yeah…finding 2-3 people that you “click” with seems to be the way to go. Sucks for people like me.
Nope, not kidding Tyrion.
2, 1, 1, 1
3, 1, 1
3, 2
4,1
are all considered (currently) valid opponent groups vs a full premade 5.
What was stated that was there would be no more 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 vs 5
There is no more separation of solo and team queue (hasn’t been for a very long time, people apparently have forgotten that they did uses to be separate). For “reasons.” I’m not going to go into the whole debate. I’m sure the threads are still around somewhere.
Solo que doesnt face premades? strange
You’re not a full 5 man solo. You have 3 solos and duo vs a premade 5. That’s still allowed via the matchmaking.
Nope. Its primarily geared for post 80 players. So, just wait until you’ve gotten the characters you want to 80.
Unless you pvp. You can access all the elites in pvp right off the bat. Still have to “earn” them in pve though, but you have them available to play if you pvp.
I don’t love the new system. Conversely, I don’t hate it either. (Even as frustrated with it as I am)
I think Anet has the right general idea, but its poorly implemented. Which, unfortunately, results in one group or another suffering while they work out the kinks.
I’ll agree it has merit. There have been plenty of games where one side has ended up 4v5 or the game was just poorly matched (13 to 500) where one side was just saying “just make it quick please.” The ability to resign would definitely have been nice, so people could move on. However, the fact that its as abusable is it is, holds us all hostage.
They won’t do it. They took it out of pvp for a reason. The same reason they took out a lot of available emotes.
Trolling and Match Manipulation
They don’t want to see more of the good old “red resign” days.
HoT Mordy fight - There is no exit
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189
One thing I noticed in the Mordy fight (which I agree is long and could use a break half way through) is that if you are in a group and someone dies fighting Mordy (or his shadow), there is no chance to revive them. They get teleported to a “staging area” and have to watch the remainder of the fight with no chance to get back in to help the group (unless everyone dies).
This was really the only thing that bothered me about the fight. Well…and not being able to tell where I could catch one of the drafts to get off the platform when he’s charging up that full platform attack. My husband died because he couldn’t catch an updraft, and I ended up having to finish the fight alone for us. =/
I did this with my husband over the weekend (finally!!!!!) He was running a staff ele, not even a tempest. I was running my necro. He uses Valk gear and was doing “ok.” (Of course I was playing in your face necro and tanking (even in zerk gear) cause, well…necros can.) Try equipping signet of air for the speed boost, see if that helps.
I’ll be doing this on my ele…probably later this week, but I haven’t been running staff. I’ve been doing d/f or d/w with air, water, and tempest. We’ll see how it goes.
It wasn’t a part of the game with launch. They did not want a first person mode, and only added it “relatively” recently. Search the forums, you’ll find quite a few threads regarding the topic.
Whether or not it will see improvements… time will tell.
Hard? No
Time gated? Yes
Annoying as kitten if you’re trying to farm for it? Yes
Costs an arm, a leg, and your first born child if you’re trying to skip the farming? Most definitely
Required? Debatable, Situational
Am I personally broken enough to drive myself batty trying to deck out all of my characters with it? Abso-kittening-lutely.
Congratz Marvin
Lol “at least rank 60” well….that’s not me.
/bow works too
Whatever is fastest for you to type I guess. Unfortunately, none of them are “quick enough” when I’m in the middle of getting beaten to a pulp and just get stuck.

Why Anet? Why?
“e-sports”
really, if Anet was serious about wanting GW2 in esports, they should fix game-changing bugs.
Oh it’ll get fixed eventually considering the impact this does have, given the seeming consistency of the bug, It just takes time. It has to be reported. They have to be able to reproduce it. Then they have to track down “why” and fix it. Seems straight forward, but isn’t always.
grumble
I’ve won with warriors on my team. I’ve lost with warriors on my team.
I’ve won with thieves on my team. I’ve lost with thieves on my team.
I’ve won with mesmers on my team. I’ve lost with mesmers on my team.
I’ve won as the mesmer on my team. I’ve lost as the mesmer on my team.

Some people are stupid. And biased. Sadly, it’s not illegal so all we can do is sigh and carry on.
These threads are a symptom of the fact that waypoints in HOT zones are rarely reliable with the exception of the one at the zone entrance.
If you look back through the kittening multitude of threads on this forum, you’ll see that people wanted fewer waypoints per zone. They liked it when they did it in Dry Top and Silverwastes. They felt that lots of waypoints made the world feel too small because we could get around too easy. “We” got what “we” asked for.
Regardless of that, people have always wanted mounted (with speed boosts) claiming that it would make the world feel more expansive. More immersive. Because we wouldn’t be using waypoints.
Well guess what… we’re using our feet. We’re not using waypoints. We have the speed boosts.
Mounts aren’t going to make that kitten better.
Game Starts:
Me – Takes Home
4 Teammates – Rush Mid…wipe before I finish capping home
Me – Decap Far (because I’m not 1v5ing mid), while doing so swords pop on home
Teammates res, rush mid again, completely ignoring home…..and wipe again
Me – runs home to defend, end up in a 1v1, turns into a 1v2 (I live! huzzah!)
Teammates – repeatedly run one at a time, as they respawn, into mid to die repeatedlysigh
Granted…I know I’m not perfect.
I know I have room to improve (lots of room), but still…
To quote Ron White: “You can’t fix stupid”No more ranked for me….
I’m having similar experiences O_O I focus on decapping in order to separate the enemy a little bit but that team wipe before i finish decapping man … breaks my heart.
I can’t believe the number of games I’m getting like this. I can’t claw my way out of emerald because of these people. It’s like the 7 realms of hell, I swear. I just keep sinking deeper and deeper. “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”
So frustrating. And because I’m only emerald (primarily due to lack of play time), the few people I have played with previously (and we did well together) don’t want to group with me because they are sapphire and ruby already! Like, seriously? Come here so I can kitten slap you.
My solo q experience last season was no where near this awful.

Why Anet? Why?
Lol Gaile!
Hey, quaggans have to eat, right? I figure there’s a high cost for serving them up their tasty morsels.
Lol I totally read this wrong the first time through. The “up” in there threw me off. Who knew quaggan was so expensive to prepare? ^.^
Going by the last 10 matches played (because that’s all the list shows) I have a 40 / 60 W/L ratio. Looking at total games and doing the math, I’m sitting pretty solid at 50/50 overall (for now).
Still, I’ve had some games that have made just sit back and scratch my head while internally, my mental monologue starts sounding like Ed Alzate (Last Man Standing) going “What’s happening?”.
IIRC, no they don’t have a way to discern a disconnect stemming from your internet bouncing, the client crashing, you intentionally opening task manager and killing the process, etc. All they can tell is that you disconnected.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
You are not wrong. When ever the game decides it’s going to lose contact with the login server and kick me to the character selection or to desktop. I get dishonored.
Now, I would think, if it errors and kicks you to character select, that is something they should be able to (and probably are) recording via logging. Cause we typically see an error pop up from that too. Not sure how this affects dishonor, considering I have seen several streams swapping classes mid game without any visible issues.
It’s when we get completely booted out of the client (for an assortment of available reasons) that I would think they would have the issue with. They can probably look at logging that leads up to that point and take a stab at what might have caused it (depends on what they are logging) but all the server sees is “account disconnected” and handles accordingly. It doesn’t care about why.
Disclaimer: all personal speculation

I would laugh so fricking hard if they added Scarlet. She would absolutely need her “Die Die Die” chant at some point, just for the reaction.
That is an interesting suggestion. Who else would you like to see as returning heroes in stronghold?
Gwen
Pyre
Vizier Khilbron / Undead Lich
Varesh Ossa
Kuunavang
Per this recap we’ll be able to get the current one even after a new one is released.
There will be a new legendary backpack every year, but Hugh confirmed that the current style can still be earned after a new one is introduced.
and
the legendary backpack can be earned by dedicated players over time even if they don’t reach the upper divisions
So, you don’t have to be legendary material. Just an average person willing to put in the time and effort. And that’s perfectly ok.
I’m sort of with you OP. I’m biding my time waiting for more story. Waiting to see what LS3 brings. In the mean time, at least I have the pvp season to keep me sort of occupied.
They didn’t even bug fix, for example Final Salvo still doesn’t give stability on Function Gyro use, but the Tooltip sure looks spiffy.
And the Function Gyro tooltip is still bugged, says it gives 2 stacks of stability. 4Head
I have my warrior skill complaints as well.
Tool tips and actual skills struggle to match up.
Proof reading is hard in coding though. After like 5000 lines of code I could easily misread a number for example.
I’m gonna have to agree with the bolded, to a certain extent. When you stare at code, and databases, and UI crap all day long, eventually it starts blurring together. Doesn’t matter if you’re the dev or the qa. Sometimes little things (and not so little things) slip by.
Edit: I should probably point out that proof reading for these types of mistakes in general is difficult. Because the brain tends to “automatically” fix things for us, so even though we see the mistake, we don’t exactly process it. Anyone that has ever done a lot of proofing for a language class, or tutoring, should understand.
(edited by LanfearShadowflame.3189)
I think a lot of people don’t bother anymore simply due to Herald. Usually there is at least one in the team, and they just insta-buff everyone. shrug
If I’m running ele, I’ll drop a lightning field for swiftness, but precious few blast it.
Depends on the trash talk involved. Sometimes they do.
Report.
Block.
Carry on.
That’s all you can do.
So….no defense primaries.
Glass blast it is. How…not fun. (Not that toughness does a kitten thing against Condi Spam, but that’s beside the point.)
Oh how I miss the GW1 days when there was an entire kittening expansion released EVERY SIX MONTHS instead of these pointless bugfixes and tooltip changes
This is inaccurate. It took them a year to push out Factions. Only Nightfall met the 6 month deadline, post Factions. Even EotN came about 10 months after Nightfall.
Prophecies: April 28, 2005
Factions: April 28, 2006
Nightfall: October 27, 2006
EotN: August 31st, 2007Well, these are still amazingly faster than the updates we are getting today. Lets compare that to this:
Work on GW2 started in 2007, it was published in 2012 and we got the first expansion Q4 2015. Something must have happened to either their economy or the development processes.
Lol. Yes, they were faster, but that’s beside the point. I was merely correcting your statement that GW1 campaigns (not even technically expansion, until EotN) came every 6 months. Beyond that, I’m no going to compare. They are 2 totally different beasts and the company is much different now than it was in 2005/6/7.
